A hybrid supercapacitor is fabricated using a composite material from $LiMn_2O_4$ (LMO) and activated carbon (AC) as the positive electrode and AC as the negative electrode to form the (LMO + AC)/AC system. Volume ratio (positive : negative) of electrodes is controlled to investigate of the power and energy balance. The (LMO + AC)/AC system shows better performances than the LMO/AC system. Especially, electrochemical impedance spectra, rate charge.discharge and cycle performance testing show that the (LMO + AC)/AC system have an outstanding electrochemical performance at volume ratios of (LMO + AC)/AC = 1 : 1.7 and 1 : 2. Electric double layer capacitor (EDLC) capacitance between AC of the positive electrode and AC of the negative electrode improves power density without loss of capacitance. Stable capacitance is achieved by lowering the positive electrode resistance and balancing the energy and power densities between the positive and negative electrodes by the addition of AC to the positive electrode at high current density.
The bidirectional boost-buck chopper type AC voltage regulator is presented in this paper. The main characteristic of the AC chopper is the fact that it generates an output AC voltage larger or lower than the input AC one, depending of the instantaneous duty-cycle. Boost-buck chopper type AC voltage regulator, derived from the DC chopper modulated method, is a kind of direct AC-AC voltage converter and has many advantages: such as fast response speed, low harmonics and high power factor. It adopts high switching frequency AC chopper technique and can do wide range step less AC voltage regulation.
Two congener species of Grapholita molesta and G. dimorpha have similar host ranges and adult occurrence patterns. In addition, the two species commonly use cis-8-dodecenyl acetate (Z8-12:Ac) and trans-8-dodecenyl acetate (E8-12:Ac) as their major sex pheromone components. The commercial lures made of the two components, therefore, suffer a mixed attraction of these two species. This study was conducted to assess any effect of their known minor sex pheromone components to reduce the mixed attraction. When cis-8-tetradecenyl acetate (Z8-14:Ac) was added to the commercial sex pheromone consisting of Z8-12:Ac/E8-12:Ac = 85/15, the attraction to G. dimorpha was not affected, but its attraction to G. molesta was significantly reduced. However, the addition of either dodecanyl acetate (12:Ac) or tetradedecanyl acetate (14:Ac) did not influence on the attraction of both species to the commercial lure. The addition of E8-14:Ac to 3-component sex pheromone, Z8-12:Ac/E8-12:Ac/Z8-14:Ac = 85/15/10, the attraction to G. dimorpha was rather significantly suppressed. From these results, the 3-component sex pheromone, Z8-12:Ac/E8-12:Ac/Z8-14:Ac = 85/15/10 was suggested as an improved composition of sex pheromone lure for G. dimorpha.
The Theory of operation of switched reluctance motors (SRM) depends on the reluctance torque, where energy is transferred to stator winding only. Although its construction is simple, the electrical design is complex, due to the switching configuration needed to deliver power to stator coils. However, because of the nonlinearly of magnetic circuit, SRM has torque ripple. This paper proposes a new strategy to drive SRM from a single-phase AC supply. Each stator winding is connected to AC-DC or AC-AC converters, which is called branch. All branches are connected in parallel to a single-phase AC supply. A shaft encoder allows current production in stator winding during the positive torque production region and terminates it during the negative torque production region. A magnetic flux is produced between stator poles when current is supplied from AC supply to stator coil and repeats many cycles as long as the rate of change of stator inductance is positive. Different possibilities for the configurations of AC-AC or AC-DC converters are introduced to drive SRM from the single-phase AC supply. A case study is presented for a SRM fed from AC supply through semi-controlled AC-DC converter is presented. A simulation model is introduced and verified by experimental rig for two-phase SRM.

This paper proposes a new commutation circuit for a PWM Cuk AC-AC converter. The proposed commutation circuit utilizes a modified Undeland snubber as a commutation aid. The snubber circuit has some good features such as reduction of voltage/current stress of the main switches and improved efficiency. The experiment results show the adaptability and feasibility of the proposed commutation circuit.
Acidovorax citrulli causes bacterial fruit blotch in Cucurbitaceae, including watermelon. Although A. citrulli is a seed-borne pathogen, it can cause diverse symptoms in other plant organs like leaves, stems and fruits. To determine the infection routes of A. citrulli, we examined the virulence of six isolates (Ac0, Ac1, Ac2, Ac4, Ac8, and Ac11) on watermelon using several inoculation methods. Among six isolates, DNA polymorphism reveals that three isolates Ac0, Ac1, and Ac4 belong to Clonal Complex (CC) group II and the others do CC group I. Ac0, Ac4, and Ac8 isolates efficiently infected seeds during germination in soil, and Ac0 and Ac4 also infected the roots of watermelon seedlings wounded prior to inoculation. Infection through leaves was successful only by three isolates belonging to CC group II, and two of these also infected the mature watermelon fruits. Ac2 did not cause the disease in all assays. Interestingly, three putative type III effectors (Aave_2166, Aave_2708, and Aave_3062) with intact forms were only found in CC group II. Overall, our results indicate that A. citrulli can infect watermelons through diverse routes, and the CC grouping of A. citrulli was only correlated with virulence in leaf infection assays.
In this paper, a PWM Cuk AC-AC converter for WCF applications such as AC line conditioner, phase shifter is presented. The PWM Cuk AC-AC converter is modelled by using complex circuit DQ transformation whereby the characteristics equations such as voltage gain and the interested voltage and current is analytically obtained. Finally, the PSIM simulation show the validity of the modelling and analysis.

Mn-impregnated activated carbon (Mn-AC) prepared at different conditions was applied in the treatment of synthetic wastewater containing both organic and inorganic contaminants. Phenol and As(III) was used as the representative organic and inorganic contaminants, respectively. After evaluation of the physicochemical characteristic and stability of Mn-AC, oxidation of As(III) as well as adsorption of phenol by activated carbon(AC) and Mn-AC were investigated in a batch reactor. To investigate the stability of Mn-AC, dissolution of Mn from each Mn-AC was measured pH ranging from 2 to 4. Although Mn-AC was unstable at a strong acidic condition, the dissoluted Mn was below 3 ppm at pH 4. XRD analysis of Mn-AC indicated that the mineral type of the impregnated manganese was $Mn_2O_3$. From the simultaneous treatment of As(III) and phenol by AC and Mn-AC, As(III) oxidation by Mn-AC was greater than that by AC at lower pH, while the reverse order was observed at higher pH. After impregnation of Mn onto AC, 13% decrease of the surface area was observed, causing 8% reduction of phenol removal. Considering removal properties of As(III) and phenol, Mn-AC could be applied in the simultaneous treatment of wastewater contaminated with multi-contaminants.
Major Royal Jelly Protein cDNAs of Apis cerana (AcMRJP) were cloned and characterized. The open reading frames (ORFs) of the AcMRJP1 and AcMRJP2 genes were 1302 and 1392 nucleotides, encoding 433 and 463 amino acid residues, respectively. The sequence divergences between AcMRJP1 and AcMRJP2 and their corresponding protein families in A. mellifera were 0.0618 and 0.0934 at the nucleotide level and 0.0912 and 0.1438 at the protein level, respectively. Phylogenetic analysis supports the orthologous similarity between these proteins. The deduced amino acids indicated high essential amino acid contents of AcMRJP1 and AcMRJP2 (47.5 and 44.8%, respectively). The genomic organization of both AcMRJP1 and AcMRJP2 was determined. Both the AcMRJP1 (3663 bp) and AcMRJP2 (3963 bp) genes contained six exons and five introns, where all boundaries conformed to the GT/AG rule. AcMRJP1 and AcMRJP2 cDNAs were cloned into pET17b, and both the recombinant (r) AcMRJP1 (47.9 kDa) and rAcMRJP2 (51.7 kDa) were expressed in the insoluble form. Western blot analysis and N-terminal sequencing of the solubilized proteins revealed successful expression of rAcMRJP1 and rAcMRJP2 in vitro. The yields of the purified rAcMRJP1 and rAcMRJP2 were approximately 20 and 8mg protein per liter of the flask culture, respectively.
