  • Let D be an integral domain, {$X_{\alpha}$} be a nonempty set of indeterminates over D, and $D{\mathbb{[}}\{X_{\alpha}\}{\mathbb{]}_1}$ be the first type power series ring over D. We show that if D is a t-SFT $Pr{\ddot{u}}fer$ v-multiplication domain, then $D{\mathbb{[}}\{X_{\alpha}\}{\mathbb{]}}_{1_{D-\{0\}}}$ is a Krull domain, and $D{\mathbb{[}}\{X_{\alpha}\}{\mathbb{]}}_1$ is a $Pr{\ddot{u}}fer$ v-multiplication domain if and only if D is a Krull domain.

  • SiC films were prepared on glassy carbon substrates by laser chemical vapor deposition under a high pressure of $10^4Pa$ using a diode laser (wavelength = 808 nm) and a polysilaethylene precursor. (111)-oriented SiC films were formed at a deposition temperature ($T_{dep}$) range of 1150 - 1422 K. At $T_{dep}=1262K$, the SiC film with a high Lotgering factor of above 0.96 showed an exhibited pyramid-like surface morphology and flower-like grains. The highest deposition rate ($R_{dep}$) was $220{\mu}m\;h^{-1}$ at $T_{dep}=1262K$.

  • We investigated the effects of extracts from Rubus coreanus (RC) and Artemisia princeps var. orientalis (AP) on DNA damage response in ultraviolet B (UVB)-exposed HaCaT cells. Cell activity upon treatment for 24 h with RC or AP alone was similar to or greater than that of the nontreated control. When UVB-exposed cells were postincubated for 24 h in medium containing RC or AP, cell activity increased in a concentration-dependent manner. Nuclear fragmentation analysis showed that postincubation with RC or AP decreased UVB-induced apoptosis by about 20% and 15%, respectively, of that in cells postincubated with growth medium. When UVB-exposed cells were postincubated for 24 h in medium containing RC or AP, the level of cyclobutane pyrimidine dimer decreased in a concentration- dependent manner. Western blot analysis showed that treatment of cells not exposed to UVB with RC or AP alone did not significantly change the levels of phospho-p53 and GADD45 protein. Interestingly, when UVB-exposed cells were postincubated for 24 h in medium containing RC or AP, phospho-p53 and GADD45 levels decreased in a concentration dependent manner. Our results suggest that RC and AP extract assist the survival of UVB-exposed cells in parallel with a decrease in levels of UVB-induced DNA damage and damage-response proteins, such as p53 and GADD45.

  • Long-term water treatment performance analysis was conducted for the constructed wetland treating agricultural tailwater. Studied wetland was established in 2001 and operated from June, 2002 to November, 2010. Wetland vegetation cover was shown over 90 % coverage after 2005. According to vegetation development, accumulation of sediment nutrient was observed; Organic Carbon, T-P and T-N. In addition, DO concentration and temperature was decreased in the constructed wetland output. An infiltration rate also significantly decreased due to compaction of wetland soil. A runoff coefficient was increased due to the low infiltration rate after 2005. A T-N, TSS and Chl.a removal rate was maintained constantly. However, the T-P removal rate was slightly decreased along to wetland operation because low DO concentration could increase elution of phosphorus from sediment. After constructing open water, the T-P removal rate was increased. This is because open water could accelerate the reaearation process. Consequently, over three years of vegetation development could be helpful for wetland performance. In addition, DO concentration is important factor to maintain the T-P treatment.

  • When we apply a synchronous stream cipher to the T1 carrier system, it can occur long consecutive 0's(or 1's) sequences in the received data. In this case, it is difficult to recover receiver clock and violates a communication protocol. This paper proposes block detection and serial detection method which suppress 0's sequences of more than k( $\geq$ 2) of the stream ciphertext in the T1 carrier system. These ZS methods keep security level and solve problems of stream synchronization.

  • This study examined contribution rate on the Soyangho Lake watershed based on the flow regime, and seasonal change was evaluated by calculating the delivery pollution load of the drainage area of Soyangho Lake watershed. According to the contribution rate of the drainage area by the flow regime change, Inbukcheon Creek watershed's SS and T-P entry have recorded abnormal Six month flow and a contribution rate of 46% and 51% during the Low-water flow period. At the same time, the T-P recorded a 49.5% contribution rate and a contribution rate of 48.5% during the Low-water flow period. In sequence, Inbukcheon creek's SS entry recorded a comparatively higher contribution rate than the other drainage area, which are 39.6% and 44.3% during the entire season and 53.8% for T-P, as a result of observing the contribution rate based on the seasonal changes. The T-N at the Naerincheon Creek watershed for the entire season recorded a contribution rate between 39.6% and 44.3%. Overall, Inbukcheon Creek watershed's SS and T-P entry and Naerincheon creek's T-N had a high contribution rate on contaminant spill.

  • Molecular cloning and nucleotide sequencing were undertaken for the RNA genome of gp53 antigenic region in cytopathic Singer strain of bovine viral diarrhea virus. The cloned cDNA was 939 nucleotides in length having a base composition of 31.0% A, 19.6% C, 25.5% G and 24.0% T. The sequence was corresponded to approximately 77.8%(817 bases) of predicted gp53 region and 122 bases after 3'end of gp53 region in the Singer strain when compared with NADL strain of known sequence. A single open reading frame was found in the sequence of 2nd frame and was deduced as encoding 312 amino acids.

  • In the present study, the effects of paprika extract and its components including vitamin C, lycopene and beta-carotene on cell death in ultraviolet B (UVB)-exposed HaCaT cells were investigated. The cell viability upon treatment for 24 hr with either paprika extract or vitamin C alone was similar to or greater than that of the untreated control. However, the viability of the cells treated with lycopene or beta-carotene decreased to about 20% of that in the untreated control. When UVB-exposed cells were post-incubated for 24 hr in medium containing paprika extract or vitamin C, cell viability increased in a concentration dependent manner as compared to those post-incubated in a normal growth medium. In contrast, post-incubation of UVB-exposed cells with lycopene or beta-carotene decreased cell viability in a concentration dependent manner as compared to those post-incubated in a normal growth medium. The nuclear fragmentation analysis showed that paprika extract or vitamin C decreases UVB-induced apoptosis. The apoptotic nuclear fragmentation resulting from UVB exposure was also protected by the paprika extract or vitamin C post-incubation. However, the UVB-induced apoptotic nuclear fragmentation of the cells treated with lycopene or beta-carotene increased in a concentration dependent manner. Western blot analysis showed that either paprika extract or vitamin C treatment alone did not significantly change the level of p53 and GADD45 protein. Interestingly, post-incubation of UVB-exposed cells with paprika extract or vitamin C decreased the p53 and GADD45 protein level as compared to those post-incubated in a normal growth medium. In contrast, incubation of UVB-exposed or non-irradiated cells with lycopene or beta-carotene increased the p53 and GADD45 protein levels in a concentration dependent manner as compared to those incubated in a normal growth medium. All these results suggest that paprika extract and vitamin C help the survival of the UVB-exposed cells, while lycopene and beta-carotene potentiate the apoptotic death of UVB-exposed cells, in accordance with the respective changes in p53 and GADD45 protein levels.
