Kinetic Modeling of Non-Isothermal Anionic Styrene-Butadiene Block Copolymerization And Its Industrial Applications

  • Styrene-Butadiene diblock or styrene-butadiene-styrene triblock copolymers are industrially important materials for asphalt modification and adhesives. A kinetic modeling study on non-isothermal anionic styrene-butadiene diblock copolymerization system is presented. The model deals with the association/dissociation reaction of initiator and propagating ion pairs in its kinetic scheme. By comparing model calculation results with real plant data, it is possible to obtain useful ideas for more efficient plant operation. For example, the model clearly provides important relation between the reaction temperature profile and the conversion of monomers.

  • This paper describe the design and measurements of dual PLL for IMT-2000 cellular phone. As a result, dual PLL was well-operated in the RF frequency ranges of 2300 ~ 2360 MHz and If frequency of 380 MHz. The output power of -4.28 ㏈m, phase noise of -107.66㏈c/Hz at 100KHz frequency offset, lock time of 675.6$mutextrm{s}$ were obtained at 2330MHz. The output power of -4.78 ㏈m, phase noise of -115.28㏈c/Hz were also obtained at 380MHz.

파장가변 Ti:sapphire 레이저의 협대역 특성 (Spectrum Narrowing Characteristics of a Tunable Ti:sapphire Laser)

  • 본 논문은 Nd:YAG 레이저의 제2고조파로 펄스 펌핑된 파장가변형 Ti:sapphire 레이저의 협대역 특성을 연구하였다. Ti:sapphire 레이저는 rod의 양단에서 펌핑하여 균일한 여기 분포를 갖도록 하였고, 공진기의 격자를 선형적으로 제어하여 705-835nm의 넓은 범위에서 연속적인 파장 선택을 실현하였다. 이때 회절격자 제어계의 분해각은 0.27"/pulse이다. 중심파장 790nm때 출력 에너지는 $380{\mu}J$, 레이저 출력이 최대 출력의 50% 이상되는 파장 범위는 730-825nm, 스펙트럼 선폭은 $0.13cm_{-1}$, 빔 발산각은 1.2mrad을 각각 얻었다.

  • Small permanent magnet generator can be used not only as an emergency power source but also an exciting power source of generator for small generating systems because it does not need the external exciting power source. Especially the air-gap flux density of the buried PM synchronous generator can be increased more than that of the permanent magnet. In this study, the analysis of the small buried type PM synchronous generator is performed. From the phasor diagram considering armature resistance for exact analysis, analytic equations are induced and the efficiency, developed voltage, load current are calculated. The experimental results are compared with the calculated results for the appropriateness.

  • The application of this new design approach called fracture mechanics allow one to determine the maximum allowable stress from the knowledge of the largest expected flow size and the plane strain fracture toughness of a material. In this study we examined the relation between retained austenite, mechanical property and fracture toughness accompanied by austempering heat treatment. Fracture toughness values and retained austenite volume were higher with the ADI(austempered ductile iron) which were austempered at $380^{\circ}C$ than austempered at $320^{\circ}C$. Additionally, fracture toughness values were increased for 1~2 hour austempering time but it was slowly decreased for 5 hour ADI maintaining the predominant fracture toughness($K_{IC}:83MPa{\sqrt{m}}$) is obtained following condition, namely, austempering temperature and time ($380^{\circ}C$ and 1 hour).

Ciliary subcompartments: how are they established and what are their functions?

  • Cilia are conserved subcellular organelles with diverse sensory and developmental roles. Recently, they have emerged as crucial organelles whose dysfunction causes a wide spectrum of disorders called ciliopathies. Recent studies on the pathological mechanisms underlying ciliopathies showed that the ciliary compartment is further divided into subdomains with specific roles in the biogenesis, maintenance and function of cilia. Several conserved sets of molecules that play specific roles in each subcompartment have been discovered. Here we review recent progress on our understanding of ciliary subcompartments, especially focusing on the molecules required for their structure and/or function. [BMB Reports 2015; 48(7): 380-387]

  • MIDS(Multifunctional Information Distribution System)은 Link16의 작전 운용성을 공중/지상/해상 플랫폼에 확장하기 위해 설계된 전술정보 통신 체계이다. MIDS LVT(Low Volume Terminal)는 제한된 공간, 전력, 공조 시스템 환경에서도 MIDS 운용이 가능하도록 설계가 된 장비로써 본 장비를 탑재한 플랫폼은 Link16 시스템 상에서 통합위치 결정(Intergrated position determination), 운항 및 식별(Navigation and identification), 음성 및 데이터 통신 기능을 수행할 수가 있다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 MIDS에 대한 간략한 소개 및 MIDS LVT 에뮬레이터와의 연동을 통한 시뮬레이션 환경 구축 사례에 대해 다루도록 하겠다.

  • We have developed a design/analysis tool for use with Mat lab whick is named as "Parametric Robust Control and Identification(PROCI)". The tool is composed of three parts: Part i) consists of the identification of the continuous time transfer function by using either time domain input-output data or frequency response data, which might be experimentally obtained. Part ii) is the CDM synthesis of classical controller such as PID, Lead/Lag compensators. In part iii), the analysis of robustness of overall system can be dealt with. This tool allows us to analyze completely most of robustness issues with respect to the interval uncertaintyncertainty

표면 강화처리 레일의 마모 및 피로 특성 (Wear and Fatigue Properties of Surface-Hardened Rail Material)

  • Railway tracks are repeatedly overstressed and damaged owing to increase in passing tonnage and numerous contact cycles between wheels of train and rails. In order to ensure safe train operation, heat-treated rails are used in addition to regular inspection and maintenance of these rails. Normal rails were treated using ultrasonic nanocrystal surface modification (UNSM) to strengthen the surface of rails. A few changes in surface properties were detected with respect to hardness and compressive residual stress after UNSM treatment. Wear and rolling contact fatigue tests were performed using rails whose surfaces were hardened by UNSM and heat-treated rails. The amount of wear and fatigue life cycles were measured to estimate the effect of UNSM on the rail material. The material of the surfacehardened rail showed improved wear and rolling contact fatigue properties.

  • Effects of such factors as polymerization temperature and a newly synthesized oligomeric photoinitiator(PEDI380) on the electro-optic characteristics of polymer/LC composite films prepared by the UV-curing method were investigated. The polymer-dispersed liquid crystal cells were made with oligomeric photoinitiator PEDI380 by UV-curing method exhibited both low driving volta ge($V_90$) and high contrast ratio under optimum formulation condition.
