Subjective Health Status, Attitude toward Death and Spiritual Well-being of Nurses (간호사의 주관적 건강상태, 죽음에 대한 태도 및 영적 안녕)

  • The purpose of this study is to identify the level and correlation of subjective health status, attitude toward death and spiritual well-being of nurses. The subjects were 338 nurses in two university general hospitals located in Seoul and Gyeonggi area. Data were collected using a structuralize questionnaires regarding subjective health status, attitude toward death and spiritual well-being from March to May in 2013. Data were processed with SAS for Windows statistics program. For analysis, t-test, ANOVA, and Pearson's correlation coefficients were performed. Nurses had negative attitudes toward death according to age, marital status, years of employment and job title, while spiritual well-being was different according to age, marital status, religion, education, years of engagement in clinical works, department, and job title. The higher subjective health of nurses was, the more positive their attitudes toward death were. The higher subjective heath of nurses was and the more positive their attitudes toward death were, the higher their spiritual well-being was. This study identified the relationship between the attitudes toward death and spiritual well-being and the health status subjectively recognised by nurses, and it is meaningful in that this study prepared basic data for development of an education program for spiritual nursing care or terminal care.

An Experimental Study on the Heat Transfer Characteristics of Two-phase closed Thermosyphon (밀폐형 2상 열사이폰의 열전달 특성에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • The thermosyphon has been used as a heat transmission device in the heat recovery of low level energy and cooling for heat generating equipments. Many studies on the working fluids and wicks have been reported to improve the heat transfer efficiency of the thermosyphon. A low temperature heat pipe with acetone is chosen in the present study to compare the heat transfer characteristics due to pouring amount of working fluid, magnitude of power supplied and tilt angles. The thermosyphon made ⵁ$15.88{\times}0.8t{\times}600mm$ of copper, evaporation section 200mm, insulation section 25mm, condensation 375mm. Heat transfer rate of the thermosyphon increase as magnitude of power supplied increase and observe dry out phenomenon at 5~10% of pouring amount of working fluid. So thermosyphon at the 150kJ/s judged to need 12% or more. Heat transfer rate of the thermosyphon have nothing to do with tilt angles. Dry out phenomenon of the thermo syphon makes it possible that a low temperature thermosyphon may be used to control temperature and heat transfer of a system when the critical quantity of a working fluid is supplied in the thermosyphon.

  • This paper presents an arc(hot-gas flow field) analysis method in GCB. This method includes the Lorentz's force due to magnetic field, turbulent viscous effect and radiation heat transfer which are indispensable to the analysis of hot-gas flow. To verify the applicability of the Proposed method, steady state hot-Eas flow analysis within a simplified interrupter has been carried out. Inlet boundary pressure values were assumed to be 9.0atm and 12.0atm. For each inlet boundary condition, three cases of hot-gas flow field analyses were performed according to the values of arc currents which were assumed to be D.C 0.6kA. 1.0kA and 2.0kA. The results revealed that the arc radius at nozzle throat has been concentrated by increasing the pressure of nozzle upstream and that the maximum temperature of arc core has been decreased along to nozzle exit and the high temperature lesion come to be wide in nozzle downstream. From these results, it is confirmed that the proposed method will be applicable to predict the large current interruption capability of GCB.

  • In this paper, we fabricated pantacene TFTs using PVP copolymer and cross-linked PVP as gate insulator on glass and plastic (PET) substrate. Depending on the density of PVP and poly (melamine-co-formaldehyde) the performance has been changed. We obtained the best performance with the mobility of 0.12cm2/V sec and the on/off current ratio of $1.19{\times}10^6$ for the case of $10wt\%$ PVP copolymer mixed with $5wt\%$ poly(melamine-co-formaldehyde). Additionally using OTFTs with the above PVP gate insulator, we fabricated the integrated circuit including inverter which produced the gain of 5.56 on the glass substrate and gain of 9.7 on the plastic (PET) substrate. And the threshold voltage was respectively +8V and +14v$ldots$

The Electronic and Thermoelectric Properties of Si1-xVx Alloys from First Principles

  • The effect of temperature and vanadium metal concentration on the electronic and thermoelectric properties of Si in the diamond cubic structure has been investigated using a combination of density functional theory simulations and the semi classical Boltzmann's theory. The BotzTrap code within the constant relaxation time approximation has been used to obtain the Seebeck coefficient and other transport properties of interest for alloys of the structure $Si_{1-x}V_x$, where x is 0, 0.125, 0.25, 0.375, and 0.5. The thermoelectric properties have been extracted for a temperature range of 300 K to 1,000 K. The general trend with V atom substitution for Si causes the Seeback coefficient to increase and the thermal conductivity to decrease for the various alloys. The optimum values are for $Si_5V_3$ and $Si_4V_4$ alloys for charge carrier concentrations of $10^{21}cm^{-3}$ in the mid temperature range of 500~800 K. This is a very desirable effect for a promising thermoelectric and the figure of merit ZT approaches 0.2 at 600 K for the p-type $Si_5V_3$ alloy.

  • In this paper, a MEMS tunable capacitor was successfully designed and fabricated using an aluminum nitride film and a gold suspended membrane with two air gap structure for commercial RF applications. Unlike conventional two-parallel-plate tunable capacitors, the proposed tunable capacitor consists of one air suspended top electrode and two fixed bottom electrodes. One fixed and the top movable electrodes form a variable capacitor, while the other one provides necessary electrostatic actuation. The fabricated tunable capacitor exhibited a capacitance tuning range of 375% at 2 GHz, exceeding the theoretical limit of conventional two-parallel-plate tunable capacitors. In case of the contact state, the maximal quality factor was approximately 25 at 1.5 GHz. The developed fabrication process is also compatible with the existing standard IC (integrated circuit) technology, which makes it suitable for on chip intelligent transceivers and radios.

The Acute Intermittent Peritoneal Dialysis in Acute Renal Failure of Newborn and Young Infants (신생아와 유아의 급성신부전증에 실시한 급성복막투석)

  • We studied the effects of the acute intermittent peritoneal dialysis in severe acute renal failure of 1 newborn infant and 2 young infants during 18 months period from February 1985 to April 1986. The predisposing illnesses were severe acute gastroenteritis with dehydration. Reye's syndrome, and bilateral nephrolithiasis with hyperuricemia. The concomittent illnesses were severe hypernatremia, hyponatremia, hyperkalemia, hypocalcemia, hypoglycemia, DIC(disseminated intravascular coagulopathy), paralytic ileus, metabolic acidosis and gastrointestinal bleeding. As a dialvsate, Imperinol $solution^R$, 1.5% was used in all cases. The cycles of dialysis were 8, 16, and 41 times in each cases. Observed complications during dialysis were leakage, and abdominal wall and scrotol swelling in 2 cases, hyperglycemia in 1 case, and peritonitis in 1 case. Acinetobacter calcoaceticus was cultured in peritoneal fluid of peritonitis. These complications were treated by stopping dialysis in leakage and abdiminal wall swelling, insulin therapy in hyperglycemia, and intraperitoneal and systemic antibiotics therapy in peritonitis. We experienced improvements of severe acute renal failure with variable concomittant illnesses by acute intermittent peritoneal dialysis despite of the treatable complications of dialysis in all cases.

Clinical study on lumbar curvation and Furgerson angle of 131 patients which have low back and leg pain (요통(腰痛) 및 요각통(腰脚痛) 환자(患者) 131명(名)의 요추(腰椎)의 전만각(前灣角) 및 요천각(腰薦角)에 대(對)한 고찰(考察))

  • The Lumbar curvation & L-S angle(Furgerson angle) were measured from the 131 patients who have taken a X-rays at Oriental hospital of Tae-jon university, and the result were obtained as folIow: 1. The number of Female patients are more than that of Male, and the number of people whose age is 61~70 are the most(29, 22.1%). 2. The number of patients who have HNP are the most(47, 33.8%), and except that of patients who have HNP, the number of patients who have Spondylosis are the most(33, 23.7%). 3. Average of lumbar curvation is $34^{\circ}$, the number of people whose lumbar curvation is $31{\sim}40^{\circ}$ is the most(43, 33.6%), and the number of people whose lumbar curvation is over $61^{\circ}$ is the least(1, 0.98%). 4. Lumbar curvation is increased with increase of age. 5. The average of Furgerson angle is $33.7^{\circ}$, the number of people whose angle is $31{\sim}40^{\circ}$ is the most(51, 39.8%), and that of people whose angle is $0{\sim}10^{\circ}$ is the least(5, 3.9%).

Association among Parent-Adolescent Communication, Self-Efficacy, and Nursing Professionalism in Nursing Students (간호대학생의 부모-자녀 의사소통과 자기효능감 및 간호전문직관의 관계)

  • Purpose: This study was conducted as a descriptive research to identify relationships among parent-adolescent communication, self-efficacy and nursing professionalism in nursing students. Methods: The participants were 106 nursing college students in Chungchung Province in Korea. Data were collected from December 1 to 31, 2016, analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-tests, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and multiple regression using IBM SPSS statistics version 21. Results: Parent-adolescent communication was positively correlated with self-efficacy (r=.44, p<.001), and nursing professionalism (r=.30, p=.002), while self-efficacy was positively correlated with nursing professionalism (r=.42, p<.001). Parent-adolescent communication and nursing professionalism explained 29.0% of self-efficacy. Parent -adolescent communication and self-efficacy explained 19.5% of nursing professionalism. Conclusion: The results of this study suggest an empowerment program of parent-adolescent communication should be developed to provide valuable baseline data to counsel students who are developing self-efficacy and nursing professionalism in nursing curriculum.

Acculturative Stress, Depression and Drinking Problems of Korean International Students in the United States (재미 한인대학생의 문화적응 스트레스, 우울과 음주문제)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify predictors of drinking problems in Korean international students in the United States. Methods: The subjects involved this study were 190 Korean international students in the United States. Data were measured using a drinking problems questionnaire, an acculturative stress scale for international student, and the CES-D. The collected data were analyzed using the SPSS/WIN 17.0 program to calculate mean, standard deviation, ANOVA, Sheff$\acute{e}$ test and pearson's correlation coefficient. and stepwise multiple regression. Results: 1) The mean score of the degree of perceived acculturative stress was $2.15{\pm}0.63$, of depression was $17.67{\pm}9.85$, and of drinking problems was $15.03{\pm}15.52.2$) There were significant correlations between acculturative stress and drinking problems (r=.506, p<.001), between depression and drinking problems (r=.6726, p<.001), and between acculturative stress and depression (r=.453, p<.001). 3) In stepwise multiple regression analysis the most powerful predictor of drinking problems were acculturative stress (${\beta}$=.243, p<.001), and depression (${\beta}$=.562, p<.001). Conclusion: Based on the results, practical implications for reducing the acculturative stress and improving the psychological well-being of Korean students were discussed.
