The effects of store image components on consumers purchasing retailer brands in Korea

  • Although a huge number of academic researchers have paid considerable attention to exploring both the degree to which store image influences retailer brand customers and how to develop store personality, they have overlooked the contemporary retail context in which retailers have developed many different types of retailer brands, that is, price-oriented or quality-oriented retailer brands. Rather than focusing on the latter, much literature has looked at the former. Accordingly, even though there are many articles related to store image, a few authors have shown their interest in identifying the extent to which store personality affects customers purchasing retailer brands at lower prices. As a result, their efforts have been to illustrate the relationship between store image and consumer behaviours buying retailer brands. In that multiple retailers over the world such as E-Mart, Lotte-Mart, Tesco Korea and Tesco UK have actively introduced not only the quality-focused retailer brands that quality is better than, or equal to national brands, and prices are slightly higher than, or equal to them, but also price-focused retailer brands, academicians should make an effort to investigate how store image affects customers purchasing a quality-oriented retailer brand, comparing with previous research results. That is why the authors illustrate the extent to which store personality components influence retailer brand customers, including particularly quality-oriented retailer brand customers through an empirical research. By adopting a questionnaire method as a research technique to illuminate the relationship between store image components and retailer brand customers, research validity increases and further, data gathered through a field survey are analysed through a few statistic analysis methods, in order to minimise statistical deviations. Compared with the prior research concentrated on price-focused retailer brands, the authors have significantly shed light on customer behaviours purchasing retailer brand products with higher quality. When it comes to store personality components, the research suggests the following five items: merchandise attributes, services, physical facilities, promotions, and institutional image, considering the subcomponents mentioned by the previous research. Proposing the conceptual research model which those elements are differently hypothesised, according to retailer brand types: PR (Price-oriented Retailer brand) and QR (Quality-oriented Retailer brand), the research is proceeded. Through empirical research, the authors found that amongst the five items, only promotion influenced retailer brand customers in the Korean retailing marketplace, unlike other countries explored by many researchers, such as UK. Although much literature emphasises that those elements are closely related to retailer brand buying proneness, it is completely not fit to the Korean market. Also, research findings provide new insights into the degree of store image effects on retailer brand customers for academiciansand practitioners. Whether the retailer brand development program that a retailer has carried simultaneously both price-focused and quality-focused retailer brand types is practically profitable should be explored in the future.

  • 본 연구는 정보화시대를 맞이하여 급격한 변화를 경험하며 살아가는 대학생의 성격5요인 유형이 다양한 스트레스원에 의해 나타난 스트레스대처방식에 어떤 영향을 미치는지를 연구하였다. 분석결과 스트레스대처방식 하위요인 중 (1) 사회적지지추구대처방식은 외향성, 호감성, 성실성 (2) 문제중심적대처방식은 성실성, 외향성, 호감성, 개방성 (3) 회피중심적대처방식은 신경성, 성실성순으로 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 학생들의 성격에 맞는 상담지도가 필요하다. 본 연구는 성격5요인이 스트레스대처방식에 미치는 영향력을 분석하였기 때문에 분석도구로 SCi = ${\beta}0$ + ${\beta}1$ Neuroticism + ${\beta}2$ Extraversion + ${\beta}3$ Openness to Experience + ${\beta}4$ Agreeableness + ${\beta}5$ Conscienti- ousness + ei 의 회귀모형을 설정하여 분석하였다.

  • This paper empirically examines various personal characteristics and preferences of HRM (Human Resorce Mamagement) systems using data from 968 R&D professionals in 9 private R&D organizations. It identifies different patterns of reward and career development needs associated with 4 types of R&D professionals, who are categorized by personal characteristics: personality and attitude. A productive leader type shows active personal traits (which encompass high scores of need for achievement, risk-taking propensity, tolerance for ambiguity, and self-efficacy) and positive attitudes (which include high scores of job satisfaction, organizational commitment, and low scores of turnover intention), while a cynical bystander type exhibits passive personal traits and negative attitudes toward a job. A passive adapter, who has passive personal characteristics but positive attitudes, and a frustrated champion, who is active in personality but negative in current job attitude, lie in between them. The results reveal that: 1) These four different types of R&D professionals show differences in their education, age and tenure level, and technical performance. 2) They have different career orientations and problem solving styles. 3) They also exhibit different preferences in performance appraisal criteria and rater, and reward structures. Based on these findings, this study suggests a contingent type of human resource management in terms of selection and staffing of R&D professionals, performance appraisal, incentive systems, and career development plans.

  • Recently, the scale of construction project is getting bigger compared to previous projects. Therefore, the job stress of the field manager responsible for the construction project is getting more and more intense. Therefore, construction companies should establish a job stress management plan for stable human resource management of the field managers. From this perspective, in this study was developed a job stress measurement system in connection with MBTI personality types. The developed system allows the job stress of the field manager to be judged on a scale from 1 to 9 points. Accordingly, it is expected that construction companies will contribute to the effective management of field managers in the future.

국가시험을 앞둔 치위생과 학생들의 성격유형에 따른 스트레스 요인 및 대처방안 (Stress factors by personality type of students department of dental hygiene who will take national examination soon and countermeasures)

  • This study aims to investigate the stress factors of students in Dental Hygiene Department who will soon take the national examination, corresponding countermeasures and relationship of internal and external personality. On the basis of the results from investigation, this study will identify the methods to effectively cope with stress and to take the national examination with more positive thinking for the students and faculty members in Dental Hygiene Department, who have to pass the difficult test, the national examination. The structured questionnaires were given to junior students in Dental Hygiene Department in three colleges, to identify the stress factors, methods to deal with stress and A/B personality types. For the stress factor by field, the M college showed significantly higher stress about curriculum and assignment than the C college. In the stress factor analysis by item, the lack of information on national examination in the test area, all items in learning environment, a quantity of assignment that doesn't help the preparation of national examination in the assignment area, and lack of information on employment in job area demonstrated the significant difference(p<0.05). For the methods of subjects to deal with stress, several subcategories of long-term and short-term adaptation had significance. In case of the methods to deal with stress by personality type, B type in the short-term adaptation method in M college and A type in the long-term adaptation method in C college were significantly higher(p<0.05). As for the correlation between the population sociological features and stress factors by personality type, health status had the high correlation with test in the test area. In other areas, the travel hours to school showed the significant correlation. The higher the records were, the longer the travel hours were and the better the health status was, the higher the long-term adaptation method scores were. Moreover, the personality of A type showed the higher scores in the long-term adaptation method than that of B type. The health status and personality type showed the significant correlation(p<0.05). In conclusion, it is required to prevent any situations b identify the personality type and stress reasons of the students in Dental Hygiene Department who will take the national examination soon. The additional requirement is the continuing interest and counseling of faculty members to help students to cope with stress with positive attitude.

장애아동 어머니의 성격유형에 따른 대처행동에 관한 연구 (Coping Behavior According to the Personality Type of Mothers of Children with Disabilities)

  • 본 연구는 장애아동 어머니의 성격유형에 따른 대처행동에 대해 파악하고자 하였다. 2020년 6월부터 9월까지 장애아동 어머니 102명을 대상으로 성격유형과 대처행동에 대한 설문을 진행하였다. 성격유형은 에니어그램을 사용하여 평가하였고 대처행동은 한국판 장애아부모 대처행동 척도를 사용하여 평가하였다. 연구결과, 장애아동 어머니의 성격유형은 장형이 가장 많았다. 대처능력은 장애자녀를 위한 적극적 문제해결이 가장 높은 점수를 보여주었다. 장애아동 어머니의 성격유형에 따른 대처행동을 분석한 결과, 장애아동 어머니의 대처능력과 부부협력 강화, 사회적-정서적 지지추구에서 유의한 차이가 나타났다. 사후검증 결과 대처능력과 부부협력강화, 사회적-정서적 지지추구 모두 가슴형과 장형 간 유의한 차이가 있었으며, 가슴형이 장형에 비해 점수가 높았다. 장애아동 가족을 위한 중재 개입 시, 장애아동 어머니의 성격유형에 따른 대처행동을 예측하고 개별화된 프로그램을 제시한다면 더욱 효과적인 서비스를 제공할 수 있을 것이다.

패션관련 직업 유형과 성격특성과의 관계 (The Relationship between Personal Traits and the Type of Fashion-related Occupations)

  • Studying employees' personality and relationship to their job would help to improve high unemployment and turnover rate in the current Korean fashion and textile industry. Based on personality which is an important influential factor, this research studied types of fashion and textile-related occupations and differences among employees' personalities related to the types. Using disclosed data from Korea Employment Information Service, 27 fashion and textile-related occupations were selected for the final analysis. Ward's Minimum Variance Cluster Analysis, MANOVA, and ANOVA by SAS 9.3 was used to analyze data. First, fashion and textile-related occupations were classified into three groups. Group 1 was mostly consisted of occupations related to manufacturing process of fashion and textile including mechanical technicians. Group 2 included occupations in garment designing and manufacturing. Designers and manufacturers including shoes, bags, and jewelry belong to group 3. Second, after observing differences in personalities among the three groups, group 1 answered that most of the personalities were not important for performance of their duties, group 2 said that only some of them were important, and group 3 regarded most of them as important. Specifically, group 1 considered precision as the most important personality but rest of the personalities not as necessary. It was revealed that personalities in relationship with other personnel such as sociality and leadership were not important. The results in this study will be used for analyzing whether job seekers' desired occupations in fashion field corresponds to their personalities and is expected to become a basic data of students' career counseling for educators.

문제기반학습 연계의 시뮬레이션 교육이 MBTI 성격유형에 따라 비판적 사고, 문제해결능력, 학습동기에 미치는 효과 -모의 실험 (Effects of simulation integrated problem based learning (Si-PBL) on Critical thinking, Problem solving, Learning motivation according to Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) Personality Type -Pilot study)

  • 본 논문은 문제기반학습 연계의 시뮬레이션 교육이 MBTI 성격유형에 따라 비판적 사고, 문제해결 능력 및 학습동기에 미치는 효과를 분석하고자 시도되었다. 간호 전공심화생 19명을 대상으로 첫 6주간 문제기반학습 패키지로 학습하고, 그후 5주는 문제기반학습연계의 통합시뮬레이션 교육을 받은 후 비판적 사고, 문제해결 능력, 학습동기를 평가하고 이를 MBTI 성격유형에 따라 분석하였다. 그 결과 외래근무 심화생의 학습동기와 이전에 시뮬레이션 교육경험이 없는 심화생의 비판적 사고가 유의하게 높았으며, 논리적이고 창의적인 유형(NT)에서 비판적 사고가 유의하게 높았다. 학습에 대한 태도와 동기는 성격유형과 유형들이 가지는 특징에 영향을 받을 수 있으므로, 문제기반학습 기반의 시뮬레이션 교육의 효과를 높이기 위해서는 대상자들의 성격유형을 고려하고, 특징들을 반영한 간호교육 프로그램이 개발되어야 할 것이다.

A Study on Sociocultural Attitudes and Appearance Management Behavior in accordance with Gender Role Identity

  • The purpose of this study was to classify types in sense of gender role identity and to figure out the difference among sociocultural attitude, benefits of clothing pursuit, and appearance management behaviors by sense of gender role identity types. Questionnaires were administered to 455 people in their twenties and thirties living in Daegu and Kyoungbuk area. Data were analyzed by using frequency, factor analysis, credibility, $X^2$-test, ANOVA, Duncan-test, and t-test. The findings are as follows. First, Men of androgyny group showed the highest rate of 38.5% followed by undifferentiation(22.9%), masculineness(21.0%), and feminineness(17.6%). Women of undifferentiation group showed the highest rate of 33.2% followed by feminineness (25.2%), androgyny(22.0%), and masculineness(19.6%). Second, factors of sociocultural attitude were internalization and recognition. Benefits of clothing pursuit consists of the factors such as consciousness of others, personality, and vogue pursuit. Factors of appearance management behaviors were dressing, skin management, plastic surgery management, weight management, health management, and hair management. Third, the result from the difference between sociocultural attitude and benefits of clothing pursuit by sense of gender role identity types, men of androgyny and feminineness showed highest in recognition while women of androgyny showed highest in internalization and recognition. The result of the difference in benefits of clothing pursuit by sense of gender role identity shows that both men and women of androgyny group have high tendency for being conscious of others, personality pursuit, and vogue pursuit while men of undifferentiation and masculineness have low interest in dressing in relationship with others. Fourth, the examination of the difference in appearance management behavior by sense of gender role identity types found men of androgyny group managed dressing, skin, weight, health and hair most while women dress and health most. Men of undifferentiation group managed dressing and weight least, while men of masculineness health, and men of feminineness hair least.

대학생의 성격유형별 강점과 약점에 관한 분석 -에니어그램 3·6·9 유형을 중심으로- (The Analysis of the Strength and the Weakness for College Students by Personality -Focusing on Enneagram Type 3·6·9-)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 대학생이 인식하는 에니어그램 중심에너지의 중심유형인 3, 6, 9번 유형의 성격적 강점과 약점을 분석하여 자기 자신을 이해하기 위한 의미 있는 자료를 제공하기 위함이다. 본 연구의 목적을 위하여 NodeXL을 활용한 주제별 분석법(Thematic Analysis)을 활용하여 사례분석을 실시하였다. 강점의 경우 3번 유형에서는 목표지향적, 자신감, 6번 유형에서는 책임감, 계획적, 9번 유형에서는 평화주의, 배려의 특성이 가장 많이 나왔다. 약점의 경우 3번 유형에서는 주변 시선의식, 결과중시, 6번 유형에서는 걱정 많은, 우유부단, 9번 유형에서는 게으름, 갈등회피의 특성이 가장 많은 것으로 나타났다. 사례를 분석한 결과 3번 유형은 삶의 목표를 중시하며 다른 사람에게 인정받는 것에 큰 의미를 두는 것으로 보였고, 6유형은 책임감이 강하고 미리 준비하는 특성을 보였으며, 9유형은 관계 속에서 배려하고 갈등을 일으키지 않는 특성을 보였다. 각 특성에 대한 사례분석 결과는 대학생이 삶 속에서 보여주는 실질적인 내용에 근거하여 자신에 대한 이해를 폭을 넓힐 수 있도록 한 것에 그 의의가 있다.
