This study was conducted with the national river, Munsancheon, which is located in Paju-si, Gyeonggi-do. The sediment discharge of Munsancheon was directly measured to analyze the sediment characteristics, and the results were used in the numerical model to predict the long-term river bed variation. The flow-total sediment discharge relation was derived using the measured total sediment discharge, and the results were compared with the total sediment discharge that was calculated using the existing prediction formula to derive a proper sediment discharge prediction method. In the actual measurements, the total annual sediment discharge was 5,478 ton/year, and the specific sediment discharge was 29.23 ton/$km^2$/year. The Ackers & White formula resulted in the values very close to the actual measurements. With the actual sediment discharge, geographical and hydrologic data as the input variables, HEC-6 and GSTARS models were comparatively analyzed. The test results showed that the HEC-6 model is suitable for the reliable prediction of the long-term river bed variation. Accordingly, the model was used for the long-term river bed variation prediction in this study. In the case of Munsancheon, deposition was continued in the downstream area and erosion occurred in the upstream area on the whole. It was expected that the stream would be stabilized in the river bed condition of 20 years later. The river bed variation was within 1 m, which was at the significance level. In the downstream area that is influenced by tide, however, the accumulation was continuously increasing within the section 2,000-7,000 m from the outlet. It seems that this should be considered in establishing the river management plans.

This paper considers the issue of obtaining the optimal design in Poisson regression model when the sample size is small. Poisson regression model is widely used for the analysis of count data. Asymptotic theory provides the basis for making inference on the parameters in this model. However, for small size experiments, asymptotic approximations, such as unbiasedness, may not be valid. Therefore, first, we employ the second order expansion of the bias of the maximum likelihood estimator (MLE) and derive the mean square error (MSE) of MLE to measure the quality of an estimator. We then define DM-optimality criterion, which is based on a function of the MSE. This criterion is applied to obtain locally optimal designs for small size experiments. The effect of sample size on the obtained designs are shown. We also obtain locally DM-optimal designs for some special cases of the model.
Test scenarios can be derived based on some system models for requirements validation purposes. Model-based test suite reduction aims to provide a smaller set of test scenarios which can preserve the original test coverage with respect to some testing criteria. We are proposing to apply Formal Concept Analysis (FCA) in analyzing the association between a set of test scenarios and a set of transitions specified in a state machine model. By utilizing the properties of concept lattice, we are able to determine incrementally a minimal set of test scenarios with adequate test coverage.
Testing of steel roof purlins is usually performed on full scale models in large vacuum test rigs. To undertake a comparison between web cleat connected purlins and flange bolted purlins a series of tests were performed on a 1:4 small scale model vacuum test rig. Various modelling issues need to be addressed to ensure reasonable comparison with actual constructed roof framing methods but still be suitable for an economical comparison between the connection methods. Model test results were supported by, and found to be in reasonable agreement with, deflection predictions from computer models based on finite element methods. This paper discusses the testing methods adopted and the value of small scale model testing programs as a means of obtaining comparisons between framing options.
A finite element model is presented for the analysis of composite steel-concrete beams based on a refined high-order theory. The employed theory satisfies all the kinematic and stress continuity conditions at the layer interfaces and considers effects of the transverse normal stress and transverse flexibility. The global displacement components, described by polynomial or combinations of polynomial and exponential expressions, are superposed on local ones chosen based on the layerwise or discrete-layer concepts. The present finite model does not need the incorporating any shear correction factor. Moreover, in the present $C^1$-continuous finite element model, the number of unknowns is independent of the number of layers. The proposed finite element model is validated by comparing the present results with those obtained from the three-dimensional (3D) finite element analysis. In addition to correctly predicting the distribution of all stress components of the composite steel-concrete beams, the proposed finite element model is computationally economic.
This study was performed to investigate the characteristics and performance of model Decanter for separating swine wastewater to solid and liquid which is slurry state with 12.6% TS. Swine wastewater of the slurry tank was pumped into model Decanter which capacity was $2m^3$/hr in 10% TS Slurry inside of bowl was separated to solid-liquid by centrifugal acceleration. Sampling was done in the section of slurry feed pipe, supernatant outflow pipe, cake discharge pipe. After solid-liquid separation TS, $COD_cr$ and slurry volume reduction effect represented 38%, 40%, 19.6% respectively. Relation factor of model Decanter operation slurry concentration, optimum retention time of slurry, overflow velocity of supernatant, supernatant concentration, sludge removal rate etc. Optimal operation conditions can be set and evaluated efficiency based on the experimental results in the case of Decanter adopted for solid-liquid separation in highly concentrated swine wastewater.

This paper proposes a frequency transfer function synthesis for simplifying a high-order model with time delay to a low-order model. The model reduction is based on minimizing the m function weighted by the numerator polynomial of reduced systems. The proposed methods provide a better fitness within low frequency. Four examples are given to illustrate the feasibilities of the suggested schemes.

This study presents a circuit model for simulating the switching transients of insulated-gate bipolar transistors (IGBTs) with inductive load switching. The modeling approach used in this study considers the behavior of IGBTs and freewheeling diodes during the transient process and ignores the complex semiconductor physics-based relationships and parameters. The proposed circuit model can accurately simulate the switching behavior due to the detailed consideration of device-circuit interactions and the nonlinear nature of model parameters, such as internal capacitances. The developed model is incorporated in an IGBT loss calculation module of an electromagnetic transient simulation program to enable the estimation of switching losses in voltage source converters embedded in large power systems.

The object of study is to propose a method for grouping R, F, and M in RFM model. Our model uses 6 levels using standard normal distribution. First level is upper 2.5% and second level next 13.5%, third level next 34%, fourth level next 34%, fifth level next 13.5%, sixth level next 2.5%. Values are symmetric and limits are clear. We compare proposed model with traditional 5 level model and 10 level model using NDSL data of KISTI. Proposed model divides most clearly the distribution of the RFM function for all cases of weights, because it uses the distribution of customers. Comparison studies of our model with grouping using cluster analysis and studies on weights of RFM model are needed.

A dynamic analysis of random vibration processes is concerned with the first excursion probability based on first passage time during some specified lifetime or duration of the excitation. This study is concerned with the estimation of first-passage probability for hazard fluctuate wind velocity in the major cities reflecting the recent meteorological with largest data samples (yearly 2003-2012). The basic wind speeds were standardized homogeneously to the surface roughness category C, and to 10m above the ground surface. In this paper, the hazard fluctuate wind velocities are treated as a time-independent (stationary) random process and Gaussian random processes. The first excursion probability were calculated from Poisson model based on the independent event of level crossing & two-state Markov model based on the envelopes of level crossing.
