In this paper, a bird type biped robot for entertainment controlled by R/C servo motors, is built using the embedded RTOS (Real Time Operating System). ${\mu}C/OS-II$ V2.00 is used fur RTOS and the board 80C196KC for main CPU. A control algorithm of R/C servo motors is proposed on ${\mu}C/OS-II's$ preemptive and deterministic property without any extra PWM module. The realized biped robot has 19DOF, that is, 12DOF for both legs, 6DOF for both arms and 1DOF for neck. To verify the proper walking process, ZMP(Zero Moment Point) theory is applied and the simulation has been done by ADAMS.
In this work, we have developed a 2 degrees of freedom(DOF) motion simulator that can generate the sensation of motion in a 6 DOF space. The motion base has the DOF of roll and pitch, and the purpose of the motion base is to create the sensation of riding a vehicle in a 3D space by controlling the motion base. The dynamics of the mechanism was analysed and the optimal design of the motion base mechanism has been reached. The prototype motion base mechanism was developed and tested. The multi-axis motion controller(MMC) was used to control the two AC servo meters that drive the roll and pitch motion.

This paper presents a methodology for the stiffness analysis of a low-DOF parallel manipulator. A low-DOF parallel manipulator is a spatial parallel manipulator which has less than six degrees of freedom. The reciprocal screws of actuations and constraints in each leg can be determined by making use of the theory of reciprocal screws, which provide information about reaction forces due to actuations and constraints. When pure farce is applied to a leg, the leg stiffness is modeled as a linear spring along the line. For pure couple, it is modeled as a rotational spring about the axis. It is shown that the stiffness model of an it_DOF parallel nipulator consists of F springs related to actuations and 6-F springs related to constraints connected from the moving platform to the base in parallel. The 6x f Cartesian stiffness matrix is derived, which is the sum of the Cartesian stiffness matrices of actuations and constraints. Finally, the 3-UPU, 3-PRRR, and Tricept parallel manipulators are used as examples to demonstrate the methodology.

Energy harvesting in trams may become a prevalent source of passive energy generation due to the high density of vibrational energy, and this may help power structural health monitoring systems for the trams. This paper presents a broadband vibrational energy harvesting device design that utilizes a varied frequency from a tram vehicle using a 2 DOF vibrational system combined with electromagnetic energy conversion. This paper will demonstrate stepwise optimization processes to determine mechanical parameters for frequency tuning to adjust to the trams' operational conditions, and electromagnetic parameters for the whole system design to maximize power output. The initial optimization will determine 5 important design parameters in a 2 DOF vibrational system, namely the masses (m1, m2 (and spring constants (k1, k2, k3). The second step will use these parameters as initial guesses for the second optimization which will maintain the ratios of these parameters and present electrical parameters to maximize the power output from this system. The obtained values indicated a successful demonstration of design optimization as the average power generated increased from 1.475 mW to 17.44 mW (around 12 times).

This paper purposes on stimulating the dynamic behavior of a floating structure model with the image processing and the close-range photogrammetry, instead of the contact sensors. Previously, the movement of structures was presented by the exterior orientation estimation from a single camera following the space resection. The inverse resection yields to 6 orientation parameters of the floating structure, with respect to the camera coordinates system. The single camera solution of interest in applications is characterized by the restriction in terms of costs, unfavorable observation conditions, or synchronization demands when using multiple cameras. This paper discusses the theoretical determinations of camera exterior orientation by using the least squares adjustment, applied of the values from the DLT (Direct Linear Transformation) and the photogrammetric resection. This proposed method is applied to monitor motions of a floating model. The results of 6DOF (Six Degrees of Freedom) from the inverse resection were signified that applying appropriate initial values from DLT in the least square adjustment is effective in obtaining precise exterior orientation parameters. Therefore, the proposed method can be concluded as an efficient solution to simulate movements of the floating structure.

As worldwide concern stands on global warming and greenhouse gases from internal combustion engine, the interests in technologies for a highly efficient powertrain has been increased. Concurrently the investigation to improve the deteriorated NVH, a by-product of energy efficient powertrain, is conducted seriously. The NVH performance of a new type of active engine mount that offers increased advantages over a passive hydraulic mount is examined using a newly developed 6-DOF simulator. The simulator is in the shape of Hexapod Stewart Platform adopting LEMA, a new type of actuator which is patented and commercialized by ACT Inc,, the world wide leader in the design, development, and manufacture of high performance linear electro-magnetic actuators for active vibration control. The target vibration signals of an aimed vehicle at four engine mounts are measured and simulated by 6-DOF simulator at the laboratory. The resulting NVH performances of the new active mounting system at a vehicle and on a simulator are examined and compared. Even though the active mount performance of lab test demonstrates less effective than the result of a real vehicle test, vibration reduction is identified through the simulator.

This paper describes the whole procedures to determine ice-induced global loads on the ship using measured full-scale data in accordance with the method proposed by the Canadian Hydraulics Centre of the National Research Council of Canada. Ship motions of 6 degrees of freedom (dof) are found by processing the commercial sensor signals named Motion Pak II under the assumption of rigid body motion. Linear accelerations as well as angular rates were measured by Motion Pak II data. To eliminate the noise of the measured data and the staircase signals due to the resolution of the sensor, a band pass filter that passes frequencies between 0.001 and 0.6 Hz and cubic spline interpolation resampling had been applied. 6 dof motions were computed by the integrating and/or differentiating the filtered signals. Added mass and damping force of the ship had been computed by the 3-dimensional panel method under the assumption of zero frequency. Once the coefficients of hydrodynamic and hydrostatic data as well as all the 6 dof motion data had been obtained, global ice loads can be computed by solving the fully coupled 6 dof equations of motion. Full-scale data were acquired while the ARAON rammed old ice floes in the high Arctic. Estimated ice impact forces for two representative events showed 7e15 MN when ship operated in heavy ice conditions.

This paper presents the new method for a six-degree-of-freedom (DOF) motion measurement and those dynamic characterizations in an ultraprecision linear stage using angle sensor-implemented grating interferometry. It consists of a diffractive optical element, a corner cube, four separate two-dimensional position sensitive detectors, four photodiodes and auxiliary optics components. From the previous study, it was confirmed that the proposed optical system could measure a six-DOF motion error in a linear stage. In this article, six-DOF motion dynamic characteristics of the stage were investigated through the step response and with respect to the conditions with a different speed of a slide table. As a result, the natural frequency and damping ratio according to a six-DOF direction was obtained. Also, it was seen that the speed of slide table had an significant effect on a six-DOF displacement motion, especially, X, which was considered as the effect of friction mechanism and local elastic mechanical deformation in a slide guide.

In this paper, we studied the response characteristics of $\alpha$, $\beta$ separated type, combined type, PI typed, and feedforward type in 2DOF-PID controller through the simulation and the experiments designed with the multivariable flow control system. The parameters $\alpha$ and $\beta$ give an affect to characteristics of controller in separated type but $\gamma$ does not give an affect to the characteristics of 2-DOF PID. The more $\beta$ increases, the more overshoot decreases and especially, in case of PI type represent clearly. The $\alpha$, $\beta$ separated type has a very small overshoot and its magnitudes in 2-DOF PID onctroller increases in order of $\alpha$, $\beta$ combined type, PI type, feedforward type, conventional type. The response characteristics of simulation are similar to that of experiments but the experimental characteristics in the multivariable flow control system has the delayed response. The time delay of response in experiments depends on 2-DOF parameter $\alpha$, $\beta$, $\gamma$ and the overshoot increase as the $\alpha$, $\beta$, $\gamma$ increase. So, we can have a satisfactory response by tuning D gain.

Isolation tables are widely used for precision equipments and their isolation performances have been usually expressed and evaluated by transsmissibility. However, transmissibility is a concept for 1-degree of freedom(DOF) system. In practice, isolation tables are supproted by more than 4 springs. Each spring is subjected to vertical and horizontal ground vibrations, and also the table has more than 1-DOF. Therefore, isolation tables should be treated as multi-input/multi-output(MIMO) system of which isolation performance is expressed by transmissibility matrix. However, the matrix is too complicated to be an index for a system. In this paper, maximum singular value of transmissibility matrx is suggested as a simple performance index of a MIMO isolation system. Physical meaning of singular value is explained using a simple a 2-DOF isolation table. Furthermore, maximum singular values of passive, 3-DOF active and 6-DOF active isolation tables are obtained through experiments, and their meaning are explained and compared with each other.
