Quick and accurate understanding of the situation in a severe accident is essential for conducting the appropriate accident management and response using the accident diagnosis information. This study employed deep learning technology to diagnose severe accidents through the major safety parameters transferred from a nuclear power plant (NPP) to AtomCARE. After selecting the major accident scenarios to consider, a learning database was established for particular scenarios affiliated with major scenarios by performing a large number of severe accident analyses using MAAP5 code. The severe accident diagnosis technology, which classifies detailed accident scenarios using the major safety parameters from NPPs, was developed by training it with the established database . Verification and validation were conducted by blind test and principal component analysis. The technology developed in this study is expected to be extended and applied to all severe accident scenarios and be utilized as a base technology for quick and accurate severe accident diagnosis.

This study was to evaluate the potential climate change impact on watershed hydrological components of evapotranspiration, surface runoff, lateral flow, return flow, and streamflow using Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT). For Yongdam dam watershed (930 $km^2$), the SWAT model was calibrated for five years (2002-2006) and validated for three years (2004-2006) using daily streamflow data at three locations and daily soil moisture data at five locations. The Nash-Sutcliffe model efficiency (NSE) and coefficient of determination ($R^2$) were 0.43-0.67 and 0.48-0.70 for streamflow, and 0.16-0.65 and 0.27-0.76 for soil moisture, respectively. For future evaluation, the HadGEM3-RA climate data by Representative Concentration Pathway (RCP) 4.5 and 8.5 scenarios were adopted. The biased future data were corrected using 30 years (1982-2011, baseline period) of ground weather data. The HadGEM3-RA 2080s (2060-2099) temperature and precipitation showed increase of $+4.7^{\circ}C$ and +22.5 %, respectively based on the baseline data. The impacts of future climate change on the evapotranspiration, surface runoff, baseflow, and streamflow showed changes of +11.8 %, +36.8 %, +20.5 %, and +29.2 %, respectively. Overall, the future hydrologic results by RCP emission scenarios showed increase patterns due to the overall increase of future temperature and precipitation.
In this article, the role of spans number and length in fire-resistance ratings (FRRs) of fireproofed steel frames are investigated. First, over a span-lengthening scenario, two one- and three-bay frames under the ISO834 fire are examined. It is shown that the FRRs of the frames rely highly on the changes made on their span length. Second, a building designed for three spans number of three, four, and five under natural fire is investigated. The beams are designed for two load-capacity-ratios (LCRs) of optimum and ultimate. The fire curves are determined through a probabilistic-based approach. It is shown that the structural vulnerability vastly increases while the number of spans decreases. The results show that for an optimum LCR, while the five-span frame can meet the required FRR in 87% of the fire scenarios, the four- and three-span frames can meet the required FRR in only 56%, and 50% of the fire scenarios, respectively. For an ultimate LCR, the five-, four- and three-span frames can meet the required FRR in 81%, 50%, and 37.5% of the fire scenarios, respectively. Functional solutions are then proposed to resolve the insufficiencies in the results and to rectify the application of the standard-based FRRs in the cases studied. The study here highlights how employing current standard-based FRRs can endanger structural safety if they are not connected to structural characteristics; a crucial hint specifically for the structural engineering community who may be not well familiar with the fundamentals of performance-based approaches.

In this study, a comparative analysis between an electric heat pump cooling system and a hybrid desiccant cooling system is conducted. Desiccant cooling is a thermal driven system with potentially lower electric power consumption than electric heat pump. Hybrid desiccant cooling system simulation includes components such as a desiccant rotor, direct and indirect evaporative coolers, heat exchangers, fans, and a heat pump system. Using dynamic simulations by climate conditions, house cooling temperatures and power consumption for both systems are analyzed for 16 days period in the summer season under climate scenarios for the year 2100 prediction. The results reveal that the hybrid desiccant cooling system exhibits a 5-18% reduction in electric consumption compared to the heat pump system.
This study examines the development of content scenarios to facilitate the training of on-site commanders in firefighting activities. To establish the training content scenario system, the three core competencies of the on-site commanders were set as situation judgment, communication, and decision-making. A system of scenarios was established to actively reflect these three core competencies when designing the scenarios. All the contents of these scenarios are based on Standard Operating Procedures (SOP). The scenarios comprise 14 stages that are divided into four steps with the exception of stages 1 and 14, which mark the beginning and end of the training. It consists of the situation setting stage and the first, second, and third decision-making stages. Specifically, situation judgment and communication are important factors in each stage.

Purpose: This study intends to examine the effects of a stepwise communication education program among nursing college students, focusing on scenarios and nursing case-based role playing. Methods: The study design was a one-group repeated measure ANOVA. Participants were 27 nursing students in practice. Students participated in 5-week stepwise communication education program using SBAR; including 1 week of lecture education, 4 weeks of scenarios and nursing case-based role playing. The data were collected at each level of the education process: pre-education, after 1 week of lectures, and after completion of scenarios and nursing case-based role playing. Repeated measures ANOVA was used to determine changes in SBAR technique knowledge and communication self-efficacy. Results: The stepwise communication education program using SBAR was effective in increasing SBAR technique knowledge, and communication self-efficacy. The lecture-based education was effective only in the area of SBAR technique knowledge and its subscale, attitudes towards SBAR. However, scenarios and nursing case-based role playing was broadly effective across communication self-efficacy, SBAR technique knowledge, and its subscale, knowledge of the SBAR. Conclusion: Based on this study, we propose that it is necessary to confirm the effect of long-term SBAR communication education using scenarios and nursing case-based role playing in nursing students' practice.

Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) is a highly mountainous and remote region covering 45% of Upper Indus Basin (UIB) with around 1.8 million population is vulnerable to climate change and socio-economic growth makes water resources management and planning more complex. To understand the water scarcity in the region this study is carried out to project water supply and demand for agricultural and domestic sector under various climate-socio-economic scenarios in five sub catchments of GB i.e., Astore, Gilgit, Hunza, Shigar and Shyok for a period of 2015 to 2050 using Water Evaluation and Planning (WEAP) model. For climate change scenario ensembled mean of three global climate models (GCMs) was used under three different Representative Concentration Pathway (RCP) scenarios (RCP2.6, RCP6.0 and RCP8.5). The Shared Socioeconomic Pathways (SSPs) and agricultural Land Development (LD) scenarios were combined with climate scenarios to develop climate-socio-economic scenario. Our results indicate that the climate change and socio-economic growth would create a gap between supply and demand of water in the region, with socio-economic growth (e.g. agricultural and population) as dominant external factor that would reduce food production and increase poverty level in the region. Among five catchments only Astore and Gilgit will face shortfall of water while Shyoke would face shortfall of water only under agricultural growth scenarios. We also observed that the shortfall of water in response to climate-socio-economic scenarios is totally different over two water deficient catchments due to its demography and geography. Finally, to help policy makers in developing regional water resources and management policies we classified five sub catchments of UIB according to its water deficiency level.
Extended reality (XR) provides an immersive virtual experience by using various media. The XR virtual environment enables interactions between the real and virtual worlds in virtual, augmented, and mixed reality scenarios. XR is being used in various areas such as industry, medical care, road transportation, gaming, education, and culture. XR and multimedia enhancement are important business scenarios for fifth-generation (5G) mobile networks. As users' demand for emerging media services gradually increases, enhancements in networks should be implemented for delivering multimedia services such as XR. We describe related standardization trends and requirements of the XR service in 5G mobile networks. We also discuss technological enhancements for 5G mobile networks as specified by the 3GPP SA2 working group.
This study describes results of numerical simulations on river flow response due to global warming. Forecasts of changes in climatic conditions are required to estimate the hydrologic effects of increasing trace gas concentratrions in the atmosphere. However, reliable forecasts of regional climate change are unavailable. In there absense various approaches to the development of scenarios of furture climatic conditions are used. The approach in this study is to prescribe climatic changes for a river basin in a simplified manner. As a rule, such scenarios apecify air temperature increases from $0^{\circ}C$ to $4.0^{\circ}C$ and precipitation change (increase or decrease) in the range of 0% to 15%. On the basis of acceptable supposition of warming scenarios, furute daily stream flow is simulated using rainfall-runoff model in the Andong Dam basin. The numerical experiments have quantitatively revealed the change of discharge at 2010, 2020, 2030 and 1050 for each warming scenarios and compared it with the results for a non-worming scenario.

Because of the increment in network scale and test expenditure, simulators gradually become main tools for research on key problems of wireless networking, such as radio resource management (RRM) techniques. However, existing simulators are generally event-driven, causing unacceptably large simulation time owing to the tremendous number of events handled during a simulation. In this article, a mass-processing framework for RRM simulations is proposed for the scenarios with a massive amount of terminals of Internet of Things accessing 5G communication systems, which divides the time axis into RRM periods and each period into a number of mini-slots. Transmissions within the coverage of each access point are arranged into mini-slots based on the simulated RRM schemes, and mini-slots are almost fully occupied in dense scenarios. Because the sizes of matrices during this process are only decided by the fixed number of mini-slots in a period, the time expended for performance calculation is not affected by the number of terminals or packets. Therefore, by avoiding the event-driven process, the proposal can simulate dense scenarios in a quite limited time. By comparing with a classical event-driven simulator, NS2, we show the significant merits of our proposal on low time and memory costs.
