This study included two parts of investigation, the microfloral changes during the brewing process with the changes of pH, total acidity, temperature and alcoholic contents, as well as determination of survival times of major enteric pathogens in Takju. 1. Maximum number of Saccharomyces cerevisiae was $4.3{\times}10^7$ per milliliter on the 5th day of fermentation and gradually decreased. Saccharomyces cerevisiae was one of the predominant strains of the fermentation process. The number of Saccharomyces cerevisiae was $4.3{\times}10^6$ per milliliter at the completion of the brewing and human consumption. In a few days after the completion of the brewing. Bacillus subtilis and some species of Staphylococcus spp. began to grow and those organisms were responsible for the spoilage. 2. Maximum pH, during the brewing, was 5.8 on the first day of fermentation and rapidly decreased until 6th day of fermentation at pH 4.3. 3. Maximum alcholic content was 14.5 degree on the 4th day of fermentation, 10.3 degree on the 5th day and this degree was continued during the experimentation. 4. Maximum temperature, during Takju brewing was 34.deg.C on the 3rd day of fermentation and rapidly decreased up to 23.deg.C on the 6th day and this temperature was continued until the brewing process was finished. 5. Maximum total acidity was 0.57 percent on the 4th day of fermentation and gradually decreased by brewing process was completed. 6. Survival time of major enteric pathogenic bacteria in Takju was as follows : Shigella dysenteriae and Escherichia coli were isolated in two hours and 14 hours respectively, but Salmonella typhi, Vibrio parahemolyticus were not isolated even in an hour after the inoculation of those organisms in undiluted Takju. In diluted Takju, Salmonella typhi, Vibrio parahemolyticus were not isolated even in an hour after the inoculation of those organisms in undiluted Takju. In diluted Takju, Salmonella typhi, Shigella dysenteriae, and Escherichia coli were survived for 50-60 hours, but Vibrio cholerae and Vibrio parahemolyticus were not isolated even if treated within one hour.

Alternating polyols of oxymethylene and oxyalkylene were synthesized and used as precursors for thermoplastic poly(ether-ester) elastomers (TPEs). The polyols were synthesized by reacting diols having different methylene units with dichloromethane in the presence of a phase transfer catalyst. The number of methylene units in the alkylene oxides was varied from 3 to 6. TPEs were prepared using the polyols as soft segments and poly(butylene terephthalate) units as hard segments. The polyols and TPEs synthesized were characterized using FTIR, NMR, GPC, DSC, and polarized optical microscopy. The polyols showed a profound odd-even effect on the melting (T$_{m}$) and glass transition temperatures (T$_{g}$). Polyols with odd numbers of methylene groups in the alkylene units have higher transition temperatures than polyols with odd number of methylene groups. The tendency is still kept in TPEs, even though the T$_{g}$ of soft segment in TPEs are slightly higher than those of corresponding neat polyols. The T$_{m}$ and T$_{g}$ of soft segments are almost constant in the range of 20 to 60 wt % contents of soft segments. On the other hand, the normalized heat of fusion of hard segment decreased with increasing the content of loft segment.ent.t.ent.
In this paper, we study the dynamical bifurcation of the modified Swift-Hohenberg equation on a periodic interval as the system control parameter crosses through a critical number. This critical number depends on the period. We show that there happens the pitchfork bifurcation under the spatially even periodic condition. We also prove that in the general periodic condition the equation bifurcates to an attractor which is homeomorphic to a circle and consists of steady states solutions.
An algorithm to get an optimal choice for the number of symmetric quadrature points is given to find symmetric quadrature points is given to find symmetric quadrature for-mulas over a unit disk with a minimal number of points even when a high degree of polynomial precision is required. The symmetric quad-rature formulas for numerical integration over a unit disk of complete polynomial functions up to degree 19 are presented.
TMixed convective flow in a bottom heated and top cooled rectangular channel can be significantly affected by the channel aspect ratio, Prandtl number, Reynolds number, Rayleigh number and angle of inclination. In such a mixed convection, the flow pattern plays an important role in various technological processes. In this study, a numerical investigation is carried out to explore mixed convection in a three-dimensional rectangular channel with bottom heated and top cooled uniformly. The three-dimensional governing equations are discretized using the finite volume method. In the range of low Reynolds number($0{\leq}Re{\leq}9.6{\times}10^{-2}$), the effects of the aspect ratio($2{\leq}AR{\leq}12$) and Gr/Re are presented and discussed. The longitudinal roll number in the channel is increased with increasing aspect ratio, and the roll number induced, regardless of the aspect ratio number, is even in the range of aspect ratios between 2 and 12, New vortex flow structure containing inclined longitudinal rolls is found, which is affected by aspect ratio and Reynolds number. The ratio Gr/Re is used to check the relative magnitudes of forced and natural convection in the mixed convective flow of high viscous fluid.
A copolymer P[OSA-MI] was synthesized by copolymerization of its corresponding monomers, N-phenyl maleimide (MI) and 2-octen-l-ylsuccinic anhydride (OSA). The polymer (poly[2-[1-(2,5-dioxo-l-phenylpyrrolidin-3-ylmethyl)heptyl]-succinic acid 4-(2-$\{$ethyl-[4-(4-nitrophen-ylazo)phenyl]amino$\}$ethyl)ester]) P[DR1MA-MI] was obtained from the reaction of P[OSA-MI] with 2-[4-(4-nitrophenylazo)-N-ethylphenylamino] ethanol (DR1). A stable monolayer of P[DRIMA-MI] was formed by spreading the solution of the polymer in chloroform. In Y-type Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) films prepared using this Langmuir-Blodgett method, the second harmonic waves generated from adjacent mono layers canceled each other out. In X-and Z-type LB films, the second harmonic intensity increased upon increasing the number of monolayers, but this increase was somewhat smaller than predicted by the square law. This phenomenon is due to defects or imperfect alignment of the dipoles in the LB film. The generation of second harmonic waves from Y-type LB films having an even number of mono layers supports this argument. The degree of imperfection seemed to increase as the number of layers increased. The second-order nonlinear optical properties of spin-cast films of these polymers were also measured. The largest second harmonic coefficient of the poled P[DRIMA-MI] film coated on a glass plate was 19 pm/V.
Numerical study is conducted to grasp flame characteristics in $H_2/CO$ syngas counterflow diffusion flames diluted with He and Ar. An effective fuel Lewis number, applicable to premixed burning regime and even to moderately-stretched diffusion flames, is suggested through the comparison among fuel Lewis number, effective Lewis number, and effective fuel Lewis number. Flame characteristics with and without the suppression of the diffusivities of H, $H_2$, and He are compared in order to clarify the important role of preferential diffusion effects through them. It is found that the scarcity of H and He in reaction zone increases flame temperature whereas that of $H_2$ deteriorates flame temperature. Impact of preferential diffusion of H, $H_2$, and He in flame characteristics is also addressed to reaction pathways for the purpose of displaying chemical effects.
The polyesters (polyhydroxyalkanoates; PHAs) production capability in a two-step cultivation of Alcaligenes eutrophus H16(ATCC 17699) was investigated by using various organic carbon sources. The carbon sources used included linear $C_2~C_10$ monocarboxylic acids, $C_3~C_10$ dicarboxylic acids, crotonic acid, and several linear vicinal and $\omega$-diols. The polyesters synthesized were characterized by 500 MHz $^1 H-NMR$ spectroscopy, intrinsic viscosity$[\eta]$ measurement in chloroform and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The PHAs synthesis data showed that the use of C-odd ($C_3, C_5, and C_7$) monocarboxylic acids resulted in poly(3-hydroxybutyrate-co-3-hydroxyvalerate)(P(3HB-co-3HV) (3HV content ranging 40 to 70 mol%) while the use of $C_9$ substrate gave the copolyester containing only 4 mol% of 3HV. All culture products obtained on $C_3$~C$_{10}$ dicarboxylic acids gave exclusively P(3HB). 500 MHz $^1 H-NMR$ analysis showed that all polyesters synthesized generally contained 1~2 mol% 3HV even for the unrelated substrates such as the carboxylic acids with even number of carbon. When $\alpha, \omega$-diols with even number of carbon were used as substrates, 4-hydroxybutyrate(4HB) was inserted into the polyester chain composed of P(3HB-co-4HB). Vicinal diols were generally not utilized by the bacterium for polyester production.n.
Automated design of large structures requires efficient and accurate optimization algorithms because of a large number of design variables and design constraints. The objective of this study is to examine the characteristics of the Kreisselmeier -Steinhauser envelope function and to investigate va tidily of accumulating constraint functions into a small number of constraint functions or even into a single constraint function. The commercial package DOT is adopted as a local optimizer. The optimum results using the envelope function are compared with those of the conventional method for a number of numerical examples and the differences between them are shown to be negligible.
In this paper, we find the maximum exponent of primitive simple graphs G under the restriction $deg(v){\geq}3$ for all vertex $v$ of G. Our result is also an answer of a Klee and Quaife type problem on exponent to find minimum number of vertices of graphs which have fixed even exponent and the degree of whose vertices are always at least 3.
