Solar Radio Observation in Korea (한국의 태양전파관측)

  • 한국에서 태양전파관측이 처음으로 이루어진 것은 1986년 대덕전파망원경의 시험관측을 위해서였다. 이후 기술개발을 위한 간섭계 관측이 이루어지기도 했으나 일시적인 시험관측에 그쳤고, 본격적인 태양상시관측은 전파연구소 이천분소에서 1997년부터 30-2500 MHz 대역의 태양전파를 관측하면서 시작되었다. 이후 전파연구소는 2.8 GHz 관측기, 광대역 태양전파 노이즈 관측기 등 다양한 관측기를 설치하여 우주전파환경 예보에 활용하고 있다. 한국천문연구원은 2007년 e-CALLISTO 관측망의 수신기를 들여와 45-450 MHz의 태양전파스펙트럼을 관측하기 시작하였고, 이후 2009년에는 0.245-18 GHz의 태양전파스펙트럼을 관측할 수 있는 KSRBL을 설치하여 관측대역을 마이크로파 대역으로 확장시켰다. e-CALLISTO와 KSRBL의 도입을 계기로 한국천문연구원의 태양연구는 태양전파와 고에너지태양물리로 연구 분야를 확장시킬 수 있게 되었으며, 관측자료는 태양전파폭발 감시와 CME 및 플레어 연구에 활용되고 있다.

Novel Tunable Peace-Logo Planar Metamaterial Unit-Cell for Millimeter-Wave Applications

  • A novel class of planar metamaterial unit-cells consisting of a peace logo pattern is presented. A significant advantage of the proposed peace-logo planar metamaterial (PLPM) unit-cell over existing designs is its tunability, simplicity, and compatibility with microstrip structures. The theoretical analysis is founded on the famous transmission-line theory for the metamaterial concept. Then, the tunable dual-band two-sided PLPM (TSPLPM) unit-cell is designed by printing a similar PLPM pattern at the bottom of the substrate. The influence of the bottom PLPM pattern on the resonance frequencies of the unit-cell was analyzed by performing numerical simulations using CST Microwave Studio 2017 and HFSSv15 simulators. The results of the numerical simulations demonstrated that the proposed TSPLPM has the ability to control the resonance frequencies over 50 GHz-75 GHz for millimeter-wave applications.

Implementation of Tuneable Filter Using CPW Coupled Line and Varactor Diode

  • This study investigated a new tuneable bandpass filter based on coplanar waveguide coupled line structure, and using the varactor diode for tuning the center frequency of the filter. The filter was designed by a commercial simulator and had a tuning range of 180[MHz] from 0.95[GHz] to 1.13[GHz]. The filter acceptable values regarding the insertion loss was less than 3[dB] and its return loss greater than 12[dB]. The figure of merit of the implemented tuneable filter increased with the reverse bias voltage up to 14[V] on the varactor diode. The proposed filter has a promising future as it can be used in integration processes and in various materials as substrate.

  • A distributed Bragg reflector (DBR) laser and a high speed electroabsorption modulator (EAM) are integrated on the basis of the selective area growth technique. The typical threshold current is 4 to 6 mA, and the side mode suppression ratio is over 40 dB with single mode operation at 1550 nm. The DBR laser exhibits 2.5 to 3.3 mW fiber output power at a laser gain current of 100 mA, and a modulator bias voltage of 0 V. The 3 dB bandwidth is 13 GHz. A 10 Gbps non-return to zero operation with 12 dB extinction ratio is obtained. A four-channel laser array with 100 GHz wavelength spacing was fabricated and its operation at the designed wavelength was confirmed.

Preparations of $(Zr_{0.08}Sn_{0.2})TiO_4$ Dielectric Powders by Coprecipitation of $(Zr^{4+}, Ti^{4+})-Hydroxides in the Presence of SnO2 Particles (부분 공침법에 의한 $(Zr_{0.08}Sn_{0.2})TiO_4$ 분말합성 및 유전특성)

  • (Zr, Sn)TiO4 powders were prepared in 0.05~0.13 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ by coprecipitating (Zr4+, Ti4+)hydroxide on SnO2 particles and followed by calcination at 90$0^{\circ}C$ for 2 h. They sinter to 95% of relative density at 140$0^{\circ}C$ for 2 h. and shows dielectric constant, $\varepsilon$r=37.5 and quality factor, Qxf(GHz)=46,000. With 3 mol% of ZnO it sinters to rel=97.5%, $\varepsilon$r=39 and Qxf(GHz)=40,050 at 135$0^{\circ}C$ for 2 h., but raising sintering temperature to 140$0^{\circ}C$ deteriorates quality factor, relative density and microstructure with developing second phase.

  • 본 논문은 Ka 밴드(26.5GHz-40GHz)를 사용한 양방향 멀티미디어 시스템의 설계에 대해서 다루고 있다. 우선 무궁화 3호 위성을 이용한 시범사업의 구성 및 운영과정에 대해서 개괄하고, 시범운영에서 발견된 문제점을 소개한다. Ka 밴드 양방향 위성 시스템은 MF-TDMA(Multi-Frequency Time Division Multiple Access) 방식을 사용하여 최대 전송속도 2Mbps 이상이고, QOS(Quality of Service) 제공 등 다양한 기능을 갖추고 있으나 Ka 주파수 특성상 그 안정성에 있어서 어려움을 갖고 있다. 강우감쇄 및 전송 지연 등의 현상들을 소개하고 향후 위성 양방향 시스템의 구성과 응용 서비스를 구현할 때 고려해야 할 사항들에 대해 고찰해 보고, 해결방안을 제시하였다.

Analysis and Optimization of Differential LC VCO with Filtering Technique in IoGaP/GaAs HBT Technology (InGaP/GaAs HBT 기반의 필터 기술을 이용한 차동 LC 전압조절발전기의 분석 및 최적화)

  • In this paper, differential cross coupled LC VCOs with two noise frequency filtering techniques are proposed. Both VCOs are based on symmetric capacitor with asymmetric inductor tank structure. The VCO using low pass filtering technique shows low phase noise of -130.40 dBc/Hz at 1 MHz offset when the center frequency is 1.619 GHz. And the other VCO using band pass filtering technique shows -127.93 dBc/Hz at 1 MHz offset frequency when center frequency is 1.604 GHz. Two noise frequency filtering techniques are approached with different target.

무선기기 복사성 출력전력의 측정방법 연구

  • 최근에 새로운 전파이용기술이 상용화됨에 따라, 주파수 혼신 및 상호간섭에 의한 무선설비의 보호 및 전파이용 통신서비스의 질적 수준의 유지를 위하여 무선장비들에서 나오는 출력 전력을 제한하고 있다. 현재, 국내에서는 출력전력을 공중선전력(전도성전력)으로만 측정을 하는데, 이것은 실제로 복사되는 출력전력이 아니므로 좀더 정확한 출력전력의 측정방법을 알아보기 위해 국내.외의 복사성 전력의 기술기준 및 측정방법을 비교 분석하였다. 분석 결과 미국과 유럽은 실제로 복사되는 출력전력을 안테나에서 나오는 출력전력뿐만 아니라 안테나의 이득까지 고려한 복사성 전력인 EIRP(등가등방성복사 전력 : Equivalent Isotropic Radiated Power)와 ERP(유효복사전력: Effective Radiated Power)를 사용하여 측정하고 있었다. 또한 복사성 전력 측정시 주파수대 별로 1GHz이하인 경우에는 기준 안테나를 반파장 다이폴 안테나를 사용하여 ERP로 측정을 하며, 1GHz 이상인 경우에는 기준 안테나를 혼 안테나를 사용하고 ERP로 측정을 하고 있었다. 따라서,우리나라도 보다 정확한 출력 전력의 측정 및 규제를 위하여 실제로 복사되어지는 EIRP와 ERP를 고려 할 필요가 있다.

A Development of Ultra-compact Passive Components Employing Periodic Ground Structure for Silicon RFIC (주기적 접지구조를 이용한 실리콘 RFIC용 초소형 수동소자의 개발)

  • In this paper, using the periodic ground structure (PGS), highly miniaturized branch-line coupler and impedance transformer were realized on Si radio frequency integrated circuit (RFIC). The branch-line couple exhibited good RF performance from 41.75 to 50 GHz, and its size was $0.46{\times}0.55mm^2$, which is 37 % of conventional one. The impedance transformer exhibited good RF performance from 1 to 40GHz, and its size was $0.01mm^2$, which is 6.99 % of conventional one.

A CMOS Frequency Synthesizer for 5~6 GHz UNII-Band Sub-Harmonic Direct-Conversion Receiver

  • A CMOS frequency synthesizer for $5{\sim}6$ GHz UNII-band sub-harmonic direct-conversion receiver has been developed. For quadrature down-conversion with sub-harmonic mixing, octa-phase local oscillator (LO) signals are generated by an integer-N type phase-locked loop (PLL) frequency synthesizer. The complex timing issue of feedback divider of the PLL with large division ratio is solved by using multimodulus prescaler. Phase noise of the local oscillator signal is improved by employing the ring-type LC-tank oscillator and switching its tail current source. Implemented in a $0.18{\mu}m$ CMOS technology, the phase noise of the LO signal is lower than -80 dBc/Hz and -113 dBc/Hz at 100 kHz and 1MHz offset, respect-tively. The measured reference spur is lower than -70 dBc and the power consumption is 40 m W from a 1.8 V supply voltage.
