  • In this paper, PCB embedded balanced-to-unbalamced duplexer using coupled LC resonator was introduced for low cost dualband WiMax front-end-module application. In order to obtain the function of bandpass filter and balun transformer, proposed duplexer was configured by using magnetically coupled LC resonator. Out-of-band suppression was enhanced by applying two m-Derived transform circuits to obtain transmission zeros at 2GHz and 4.8GHz. In order to reduce the size of embedded duplexer, BaSrTiO3 (BST) composite high Dk RCC film was applied to improve the capacitance density. This high Dk film provided the capacitance density of 12.2 pF/mm2. The simulation results shows that fabricated duplexer had an insertion loss of 2.9dB and 5.5dB and return loss of 15dB and 16dB for 2.5GHz~2.6GHz and 3.5GHz~3.6GHz, respectively. The maximum magnitude and phase imbalance were 0.01dB and 0.17dB, and 1degree and 2degree in its passband, respectively. The out-of-band suppression was observed approximately 29dB and 40dB below 1.9GHz and over 4.5GHz, respectively. It has a volume of 6 mm $\times$ 7 mm $\times$ 0.7 mm (height).

  • In this paper, we have studied characteristics of PHEMT's fabricated by two difference types of gate recess for improving performance of the device in millimeter wave applications. PHEMT's were fabricated using wide and narrow recesses. Maximum transconductance(g$_{m}$) of PHEMT's using the wide recess was 332.7 mS/mm, and that of PHEMT's using narrow recess was 504.6 mS/mm. From small signal performance measurements, cutoff frequency(f$_{T}$) and maximum stable oscillation frequency(f$_{max}$) of PHEMT's using wide recess were 113 GHz and 172 GHz, respectively. f$_{T}$ and f$_{max}$ of PHEMT using narrow recess were 101 GHz and 142 GHz, respectively. The measured data of the fabricated PHEMTs' were carefully studied and analyzed.d.tudied and analyzed.

  • In this paper, we have studied the effect of constituent ratio NiO, CuO and doped with B-Bi-Zn on proper-ties(microstructure, density, shrinkage, permeability as a function of frequency, etc.) of hexagonal-ferrite for high fre- quency chip-inductor material about several GHz. The permeability were analyzed by impedance analyzer(100 kHz∼ 40 MHz) and network analyzed(30 MHz∼3 GHz). As a result of the characteristics. the B-Bi-Zn glass ceramic was used to lower the sintering temperature for additive as function of frequency from 100kHz to 1.8 GHz showed con-stant tends. The maximum imaginary value of complex permeability was observed near the resonance frequency of 2 GHz.

  • This paper has proposed a 3~5 GHz IR-UWB low power transmitter for range detection application. Proposed transmitter which has been implemented in a $0.13{\mu}m$ CMOS technology is all digital circuit that consist of simple digital logic. this feature insure low complexity and low power consumption. In addition, center frequency can be changed by adopting voltage controlled delay cell for avoiding existing another radio frequency in UWB low band. Proposed circuit consume only 10pJ/b from 1.2 V supply voltage. The simulation results show 3.3~4.3 GHz center frequency controllability, -51 dBm/MHz maximum output power and is satisfied with FCC regulation.

  • This paper proposes an antenna that is located outside the PCB substrate of an electronic product to enable wireless communication in the ISM band. The PCB designed the T-shaped OPEN-STUB power supply line to be miniaturized so that it does not interfere with parts or interfere with design. The characteristics of the antenna were confirmed in the 2.4GHz and 5.8GHz bands using a T-shaped stub feeder and a spiral structure. The size of the antenna is 5mm in width × 6.5mm in length, and the thickness of the PCB is 1.2T. As a result of measurement of the manufactured antenna, it was possible to obtain a return loss of -10dB or more at 2.4GHz and 5.8GHz. In the E-plane, the gain was -4.45 dBi, and in the H-plane, the gain was -1.05 dBi. Therefore, the proposed small antenna for wireless communication showed excellent performance.

  • We have developed superconducting mixer receivers for 129 GHz VLBI observation in Korean VLBI Network(KVN). The developed mixer has a radial waveguide probe with simple transmission line LC transformer as a tuning circuit to its 5 series-connected junctions, which can have 125-165 GHz as operation RF frequency. For IF signal path a high impedance quarter-wavelength line connects the probe to one end of symmetric RF chokes. DSB receiver noise of the mixer was about 40 K over 4-6 GHz IF band whereas we achieved about uncorrected SSB noise temperature of 70 K and better than 10 dB IRR in 2SB configuration with 8-10 GHz IF band. Insert-type receiver cartridges using the mixers have been assembled for all three KVN stations. On-site performance summary in commissioning phase is presented.

  • We present the magnetic field strengths of CTA 102 using multi-frequency data at 2.6-343.5 GHz in order to study the physical origins of radio flares. The observations at 22 and 43 GHz were conducted using the single-dish radio telescopes of the Korean VLBI Network (KVN) from December 2012 until May 2018 (MJD 56200-58400). We used multi-frequency data obtained from the Effelsberg 100-m, OVRO 40-m, Metsähovi 14-m, IRAM 30-m, SMA, ALMA, and VLBA telescopes. During the period of the observations, two major flares (R1 and R2) are seen clearly at 15 and 37 GHz during MJD 57500-57800 and MJD 58000-58300, respectively. The source shows typical variability with time-scales ranging from 20-161 days at 15 GHz. The variability Doppler factor is in the range of 11.51-31.23. The quasi-simultaneous radio data are used to investigate the synchrotron spectrum of the source, finding that the synchrotron radiation is self-absorbed. The turnover frequency and the peak flux density of the synchrotron self-absorption (SSA) spectra are in ranges of 38.06-167.86 GHz and 1.49-10.38 Jy, respectively. From the SSA spectra, magnetic field strengths are estimated to be < 10 mG. The equipartition magnetic field strengths are larger than the SSA magnetic field strengths by a factor of > 100. This indicates that the radio flares may be related to a particle energy-dominated emission region.

  • There are various types of antenna fed method; coaxial probe, coupling, parasitic elements, and impedance matching. In this paper, the fed method of the proposed antenna is microstrip line type. The high frequency structure simulator (HFSS) is used to analyze the characteristics of the T-shaped microstrip antenna with various patch dimensions. In comparison with the basic microstrip antenna, this proposed T-shaped microstrip antenna with 40.38 % of patch dimensions has the optimum characteristics of resonant frequency, return loss, and radiation pattern at 2.0 GHz band.

  • A new vertical transition between a substrate integrated waveguide in a low-temperature co-fired ceramic substrate and an air-filled standard waveguide is proposed in this paper. A rectangular cavity resonator with closely spaced metallic vias is designed to connect the substrate integrated waveguide to the standard air-filled waveguide. Physical characteristics of an air-filled WR-22 to WR-22 transition are compared with those of the proposed transition. Simulation and experiment demonstrate that the proposed transition shows a -1.3 dB insertion loss and 6.2 GHz bandwidth with a 10 dB return loss for the back-to-back module. A 40 GHz low-temperature co-fired ceramic module with the proposed vertical transition is also implemented. The implemented module is very compact, measuring 57 mm ${\times}$ 28 mm ${\times}$ 3.3 mm.
