An Implementation of Driving Circuit for Resistive Touch Panel (저항막식 터치 패널의 구동회로 제작)

  • In this paper, we propose a 4-wire type driving circuit for resistive touch panel which was manufactured at the lab. The circuit is designed by using the touch panel controller ADS7846 and AVR microcontroller board. The test result shows that the designed circuit can give and transmit the position information of touch panel to the computer.

  • This paper presents a 20-Gb/s optical receiver circuit fabricated with standard 65-nm CMOS technology. Our receiver circuits are designed with consideration for parasitic inductance and capacitance due to bonding wires connecting the photodetector and the circuit realized separately. Such parasitic inductance and capacitance usually disturb the high-speed performance but, with careful circuit design, we achieve optimized wide and flat response. The receiver circuit is composed of a transimpedance amplifier (TIA) with a DC-balancing buffer, a post amplifier (PA), and an output buffer. The TIA is designed in the shunt-feedback configuration with inductive peaking. The PA is composed of a 6-stage differential amplifier having interleaved active feedback. The receiver circuit is mounted on a FR4 PCB and wire-bonded to an equivalent circuit that emulates a photodetector. The measured transimpedance gain and 3-dB bandwidth of our optical receiver circuit is 84 $dB{\Omega}$ and 12 GHz, respectively. 20-Gb/s $2^{31}-1$ electrical pseudo-random bit sequence data are successfully received with the bit-error rate less than $10^{-12}$. The receiver circuit has chip area of $0.5mm{\times}0.44mm$ and it consumes excluding the output buffer 84 mW with 1.2-V supply voltage.

A Study on the Short-Circuit Characteristics of Vinyl Cords Damaged by External Flame (외부화염에 의해 소손된 비닐 코드의 단락 특성에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, we studied on the short-circuit process, surface structure, and component variation of vinyl cords. In the results of high speed imaging system (HSIS) analysis, as soon as wire covering was damaged by heat, the conductor of wire came in contact with the other conduct of wire, and the short-circuit occurred. Stereomicroscope and SEM analysis indicated that the source part of wire showed V-type form. The molten beads of load part were bigger than those of source part. In the results of EDX analysis, Cu and O were detected in the source part, whereas covering material (Cl, Ca), Cu and O were detected in the load part. The results will help us to find out the cause of electrical fire.

A Study on Chaotic Secure Communication of Chua's Circuit with Transmission Line (전송 선로를 가진 Chua 회로에서의 카오스 암호화 통신에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, a transmitter and a receiver using two identical Chua's circuits are proposed and wire secure communications are investigated. A secure communication method in which the desired information signal is synthesized with the chaos signal created by the Chua's circuit is proposed and an information signal is demodulated also using the Chua's circuit. The proposed method is synthesizing the desired information with the chaos circuit by adding the information signal to the chaos signal in the wire transmission system. After transmitting the synthesized signal through the wire transmission system, it is confirmed the feasibility of the secure communication from the result of the demodulated signals and the recovered wire tapped signals.

  • This study aims to examine the risk of electrical fire in places where electric heat wires are used. In general, the use of electric heating wires is becoming more common and prevalent in a bid to prevent increasing damage caused by freezing and bursting in residential water pipes, factory pipes and irrigation pipes in vinyl greenhouse and a variety of heat wire products are available in market with legal safety requirements imposed on them. However, the widespread use of anti-freezing burst heat wire products has caused increasing incidents of fire, which often fail to be incorporated into statistics due to quick onsite extinguishing and insignificant damage although damage is gradually on the rise. Against this backdrop, this study aims to look into the possibility of ignition caused by electric heat wires and the mechanism of how it turns into catching fire through overheat and short circuit tests for anti-freezing burst electrical heat wires (hereinafter called the 'heat wire') and expects to serve as the basis for further observations and analyses on the cause of fire and the process of ignition in a scientific manner.

Analysis of Different 500kV HVAC Transmission Lines Lightning Shielding

  • The lightning shielding of different 500 kV HVAC-TL high voltage AC transmission lines was analyzed. The studied transmission lines were horizontal flat single circuit and double circuit transmission lines. The lightning attractive areas were drawn around power conductors and shielding wires. To draw the attractive areas of the high voltage transmission lines, transmission line power conductors, shielding wires and lightning leader were modeled. Different parameters were considered such as lightningslope, ground slope and wind on lightning attractive areas. From the calculated results, the power conductors voltages affected on attractive areas around power conductors and shielding wires. For negative lightning leader, the attractive area around the transmission line power conductor increased around power conductors stressed by positives voltage and decreased around power conductors stressed by negative voltage. In spite of this, the attractivearea of the transmission line shielding wire increasedaround the shielding wire above the power conductor stressed by the positive voltage and decreased around the shielding wire above the power conductor stressed by negative voltage. The attractive areas around power conductors and shielding wires were affected by the surrounding conditions, such as lightning leader slope, ground slope. The AC voltage of the transmission lines made the shielding areas changing with time.

  • Wire-suspensions in the conventional actuators mechanically support the moving part and guarantee the accuracy of the actuator without tangential tilt actuation. However, such a suspension configuration has considerable stiffness in the tangential tilt direction with two additional wire beams for the tangential tilt. Thus, we performed a design sensitivity analysis for the wire-suspension stiffness of 4-axis actuator and controlled the main parameters such as distance among wire-suspensions and wire-suspension length to allow tangential tilt flexibility. The elasticity of frame PCB that supports the moving part by wire-suspensions was also exploited to improve the flexibility of wire-suspension in the tangential tilt direction. A novel suspension structure was devised by establishing eight wire-suspensions at both sides of the moving part for electrical connection to coils. The magnetic circuit according to the proposed 4-axis actuator using multi-polar magnet and coils was also suggested for the generation of electromagnetic forces in the focusing, tracking, radial and tangential tilt directions.

  • The purpose of this study is to perform modelings and experiments to measure air flow rate using hot-wires and a CTA(Constant Temperature Anemometer). The flow rate can be obtained by measuring the heat loss of the hot-wire due to the variations of flow velocity when the hot-wire is maintained at uniform temperature. But the defect of this method is that the output signal changes not only by the flow rate but also by the ambient temperature. Thus, in the present study, a method which compensates the variations of the ambient temperature has been introduced to measure exact flow rate. To be more specific, the bridge circuit of the usual hot-wire anemometer system has been modified in such a way that a temperature resistance sensor and a variable resistance are placed in one of the legs to compensate the different temperature coefficients of both the hot-wire and the temperature compensating resistance for flow velocity or for flow mass up to the flow temperature of 50 .deg.C. Comparing the modeling and experimental results, it has been shown that the compensating point differs as the flow rate varies. Therefore, optimum compensation points are sought to construct the circuit. The present modeling and experimental results may be applied to the design of actual air flow meters for automobiles.

  • In 3-phase 4 wire system, appearance of the $3^{rd}$ harmonic current by increasing non-liner load is the one of causes overheating neutral wire of power line, and apparatus. So it is necessary to protect power-factor decreasing by the $3^{rd}$ harmonic, and electric power apparatus, and line safely, in this study, power system accidents caused by the $3^{rd}$ harmonic were investigated, then harmonic components analysis and unbalanced load analysis got accomplished. As result, we proposed the method to protect the power line and apparatus from over-current of neutral line by using the most economic 4-pole low voltage circuit breaker.

Effect of Ca on Droplet Transfer Phenomena in GMA Welding (GMAW 용적이행 현상에 미치는 Ca의 영향)

  • Droplet transfer modes due to welding conditions and the effect of Ca in welding wire on droplet transfer were investigated. Droplet transfer mode in CO$_{2}$ welding was classified into 2 modes, that is, short circuit and globular transfer, with increasing welding current and voltage. With increasing Ca content in wire, repulsive pressure due to vaporization of Ca was considerably increased. In short circuit transfer region, arcing time was increased and droplet transfer cycle was decreased, with increasing Ca content. In globular transfer region, welding condition for globular transfer was lower current region, with increasing Ca content.
