A Study on the Evaluation of Food and Nutrient Intake of the High School Girls in Iksan and Seoul Cities (익산시와 서울시 여고생의 식품 및 영양소 섭취 평가에 관한 연구)

  • To assess the food intake and diet quality by the interrelationship of DDS and DVS of high school girls, this dietary survey was conducted with 253 subjects living in Iksan and Seoul areas using a 24-hour recall method. The average amount of total food intake was 1,133.2 g, with 79.9% of food intake being supplied by vegetable food and 20.1% by animal food and higher in Seoul area. The food consumed most frequently was rice, green onion, garlic, soy sauce, sesame oil, onion, and Kimchi. The food consumed in the largest amounts were rice(303.3 g), milk(62.2 g), and Kimchi(53.4 g). Diet quality was assessed by food group pattern, dietary diversity score(DDS), and dietary variety score(DVS). When investigating the consumption pattern of major five food groups(grain, meat, dairy, fruit, vegetable groups), nobody consumed all five food groups in each meal. The groups most frequently missing were fruits and dairy products. The average number of food consumed per day was 12.1(DVS) and Iksan area scored lower(11.7) on DVS than Seoul area(12.6). The higher DDS and DVS of subjects were, the more MAR and NAR of energy, calcium, vitamin A and C increased. The number of major food groups(DDS)(p<0.01, P<0.05) and that of food items (DVS)(p<0.01) correlated positively NAR(nutrient adequacy ratio) and MAR (mean adequacy ratio) significantly.

  • To determine the effect of chemical structure of aromatic amino curing agents on thermal and mechanical properties, standard epoxy resin DGEBF (diglycidylether of bisphenol F) was cured with diaminodiphenyl methane (DDM) and diaminodiphenyl sulphone (DDS) in a stoichiometrically equivalent ratio. From this work the effect of aromatic amino curing agents on the thermal and mechanical properties is significantly influenced by the chemical structure of curing agents. In contrast, the results show that the DGEBF/DDS system having the sulfone structure between the benzene rings had higher values in the thermal stability, density, shrinkage ($\%$), thermal expansion coefficient, tensile modulus and strength, flexural modulus and strength than the DGEBF/DDM system having methylene structure between the benzene rings, whereas the DGEBF/DDS system presented low values in maximum exothermic temperature, conversion of epoxide, and grass transition temperature. These results are caused by the relative effects of sulfone group having strong electronegativity and methylene group having (+) repulsive property. The result of fractography shows that the grain distribution of DGEBF/DDS system is more irregular than that of the DGEBF/DDM system.

Evaluation of Dietary Variety by Body Mass Index, Waist Circumference, and Exercise Habits in Female University Students (여대생의 체질량 지수, 허리둘레 및 운동 습관에 따른 식사다양성 평가)

  • The purpose of this study was to assess dietary variety by body mass index, waist circumference and exercise habits in 138 female university students residing in Bucheon and its adjacent area. Body mass index(BMI), waist circumference (WC) and exercise habits were assessed via a self reporting questionnaire, and a 3-day dietary recall survey was conducted by interviewing. Dietary variety was assessed by dietary diversity score(DDS), meal balance score(MBS), and dietary variety score(DVS). The average BMI, WC, DDS, MBS, and DVS were $20.7{\pm}2.59\;kg/m^2$, $69.3{\pm}5.03\;cm$, $3.87{\pm}0.57$, $7.27{\pm}1.48$, and $12.59{\pm}3.14$, respectively. The DDS for breakfast, lunch, supper and snack were $1.80{\pm}0.92$, $2.45{\pm}0.48$, $2.49{\pm}0.55$ and $0.53{\pm}0.52$, respectively. DDS, MBS, and DVS were not significantly correlated with BMI, WC and exercise habits. However, DDS for breakfast and supper were significantly higher(p<0.05) and lower(p<0.05) respectivly in subjects who exercised regularly compared to those who did not exercise regularly. And DDS for snack was significantly higher in subjects whose awareness of health status was good or somewhat compared to those whose that was bad(p<0.05). These findings suggest that nutritional education based on female university students' eating variety and regular exercise may be required to improved dietary variety.

  • 최적 저수지운영을 위한 운영률 도출이나 강우-유출 및 수질 모형의 매개변수 추정 문제처럼 비선형적이고 추정해야할 변수의 수가 많은 경우, 수학적으로 모형화하기에 너무 복잡해서 선형계획법, 비선형계획법, 동적계획법 등을 사용하여 최적해를 구할 수 없는 경우도 있다. 이러한 문제에 대해서는 구조적 진화를 통해 최적해를 구하는 방법들이 사용된다. 일반적으로 미지수의 개수가 많아지면 전역최적해를 찾기가 어려워진다. 전역최적해를 찾는 여러 가지 방법들이 수자원 분야에서는 강우-유출모형의 매개변수를 추정하는데 많이 사용되고 있으며, 특히 유전자 알고리즘, SCE-UA 알고리즘 등 전역최적해를 찾는 메타휴리스틱 방법이 많이 사용되고 있다. 전역최적화 방법을 개발하는 연구자들은 최적화방법의 성능을 평가하기 위해 다양한 검사함수(test function)를 만들어 성능을 평가하고 있다. 본 연구에 사용한 검사함수는 Mishra의 연구(2006a, 2006b)에서 사용한 중요하고 복잡한 검사함수이다. 유전자 알고리즘, SCE-UA 알고리즘, DDS 알고리즘을 검사함수 중 전역해를 찾기 어려운 2 차원 함수 2 가지, 다차원 함수 4 가지 함수에 적용하여 각각의 탐색 성능을 평가하였다. 2차원 함수인 Bukin 함수에 대해서는 모든 최적화 방법이 전역최적해를 찾을 수 없었지만, 유전자 알고리즘이 가장 전역최적해에 가까웠고 다음으로 DDS 알고리즘 순서였다. 지역수렴 영역이 많을 것으로 판단되는 10, 30, 50 차원 Michalewicz 함수에 대해서는 DDS 알고리즘으로 구한 최적해가 전역최적해와 매우 근접하였고 다음으로 SCE-UA 알고리즘, 유전자 알고리즘 순이었다. 지역수렴 영역이 상대적으로 다른 함수보다 넓은 10 차원 Schwefel 함수에 대해서는 DDS 알고리즘으로 구한 최적해가 전역최적해와 거의 근접하였고 유전자 알고리즘과 SCE-UA 알고리즘은 매우 큰 편차를 보였다. 40, 80 차원 Schwefel 함수에 대해서는 3 가지 알고리즘 모두 전역최적해와 편차를 보였지만 DDS 알고리즘에 의한 최적해와 다른 두 알고리즘에 의한 최적해는 1 오더(order) 정도의 차이가 났다. 지역수렴 영역이 큰 Michalewicz 함수와 Schwefel 함수에 대한 결과는 매우 흡사한 결과이다. 이상과 같은 결과로, 유전자 알고리즘은 매개변수의 수가 적을 경우 우수한 탐색성능을 가졌으며, SCE-UA 알고리즘은 Griewank, Rastrigin 함수와 같은 형태인 경우 우수한 성능을 보였다. DDS 알고리즘은 전체적으로 우수한 탐색 능력을 가진 것으로 판단된다. 그러므로 수위구간 영역별 저수지운영률 도출을 위한 적절한 최적화방법으로 DDS 알고리즘을 선정하였다.

Magnetic resonance evidence of joint effusion in patients with temporomandibular joint disorders (측두하악관절장애 환자의 자기공명영상에서 관찰되는 악관절 삼출)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to find the relationship among the joint status, pain and effusion in patients with temporomandibular joint disorders. Materials and Methods: Materials included 406 patients (812 joints) with clinical records and bilateral TMJ MRIs in TMJ clinic, Yongdong Severance Hospital. All joints were classified in 4 groups in MR images according to the disc status of joint; normal disc position, disc displacement with reduction (DDcR), early and late stage of disc displacement without reduction (DDsR), and also 2 groups according to the bony status of joint; normal bony structure and osteoarthrosis. MR evidence of joint effusion was categorized in 4 groups according to its amount. To determine the relationship between joint pain and joint effusion, 289 patients with unilateral TMJ symptoms were selected from total materials. Result: Joint effusion was found 8.0% in normal disc position, 32.6% in DDcR, and 59.2% in DDsR (83.1 % in early state and 23.1 % in late stage). Joint effusion was found 39.7% in osteoarthrosis and 35.0% in normal bony structure. Joint effusion was more found in the painful joints (49.8%) than in the painless joints (22.4% )(p<0.001). Joint effusion in the early stage of DDsR only was more found significantly in painful joints (91.9%) than in painless joints (62.1 %) (p<0.001). Conclusion : MR evidence of joint effusion might be related to disc displacement regardless of the presence of osteoarthrosis, and the early stage of DDsR was found more frequently combined with joint effusion and joint pain.

Evaluation of Food Intake and Diet Quality in High School Students (고등학생의 식품섭취 실태 및 식사의 질 평가)

  • To assess the food intake and diet quality of high school students who live in Chuncheon area, a dietary survey using 24-hour recall method was conducted with 318 subjects. $71.4\%$ of total food intake was in the form of plant foods and the rest on the form of animal food. Diet quality was assessed by food group pattern, dietary diversity score(DDS), and dietary variety score(DVS). When counting the major food groups consumed, $37.1\%$ of subjects had a DDS of 3 and $48.4\%$ of subjects had a DDS of 4. When investigating the consumption pattern of the major five food groups, only $14.5\%$ of subjects consumed foods from all five groups. On average, subjects habitually consumed 26.7 different foods daily, with the mean score of diet variety for males (27.3) being significantly higher than for females (25.8) . Correlation coefficients between nutrient adequacy ratio (NAR) and DVS ranged from r=0.39 for vitamin $B_2$ to r=0.61 for phosphorus. NAR also improved as the number or foods or rna groups consumed increased (p<0.001). Associations between the NAR and high level of DVS was more positive than those between the NAR with DDS. When assessing the dietary quality of subjects using DDS and DVS, many people appeared not to have a desirable food intake. Therefore, to lead them to have nutritionally balanced diet, educating students and their parents on nutrients and suggesting guidelines for a desirable diet is considered to be essential so that they can intake from all of major food group and have various foods in their diet.

On average, subjects habitually consumed 22.6 different foods daily, with the mean score of diet variety for males (22.1) being significantly lower than for females (22.9). Correlation coefficients between nutrient adequacy ratio (NAR) and DVS ranged from r=0.40 for vitamin B$_1$to r=0.61 for phosphorus. NAR also improved as the number of foods or food groups consumed increased (p<0.001). Associations between the NAR and high level of DVS was more positive than those between the NAR with DDS.   • The purpose of this study is to analyze the usage patterns of document delivery services of domestic users based on usage transaction data about photocopying services of KISTI-DDS that the most important document delivery organization in Korea.. For the purpose of this study, it was investigated the number of processed document, type of favorite documents, ordering coverage for photocopying, delivery methods of photocopying documents for users in DDS(document delivery service) through transaction data of DDS during the past 4 years from 2000 to 2003.

An Assessment of diet quality in the Postmenopausal Women (폐경 후 여성을 대상으로 한 식사의 질 평가 연구)

  • This study was performed to assess diet quality in the postmenopausal women. The data of dietary intakes were obtained using food frequency questionnaires which were collected from 151 postmenopausal women in urban area. We evaluated nutrient intake and diet quality. Diet quality was assessed by NAR(nutrient adequacy ratio), FGIP(food group intake pattern), DDS(dietary diversity score), DVS(dietary variety score), FGS(food group score), DQI(diet quality index). Nutrient intakes of the subjects were close to Korean RDA. Nutrient composition of the diet(in percentage of total energy) was 64% carbohydrate, 15% protein, and 19% protein, and 19% total fat, that was close to 65 : 15 : 20. NAR of most nutrients, except vitamin A, E, were higher than 0.75 and MAR was 0.88. NAR and MAR of the subjects in theis study were higher than those of the subjects of rural area in other studies. The subjects who consumed the five food groups were 60.9%. The mean of DDS was 4.5. The subjects who consumed more than 61 dish items during a month were 61.5%. The mean of DVS was 62.4 and it was significantly higher in the elder age group. 67.6% of the subjects were below FGS of 12. The mean of FGS was 10.6 and few subjects consumed serving numbers of each food groups which were recommended for Koreans. 55.0% of the subjects were DQI scores of 0, 1, and 2. The mean of DQI was 2.3 and few subjects followed the five dietary guidelines for Korean.
