$BaTiO_3$ 세라믹스와 Oxide Setter의 반응성에 관한 연구 (Study on the Reaction between $BaTiO_3$ Ceramics and Oxide Setters)

  • BaTiO3 ceramics were sintered on Al2O3, MgAl2O4, MgO and Mg-, Ca-, Y-stabilized zirconia setters. Then the influence of setters on the microstructure of BaTiO3 ceramics and the stability of setters were investigated by SEM, EDAX and XRD analyses. The microstructure of BaTiO3 ceramics sintered on Al2O3, MgAl2O4, MgO and Mg-PSZ showed large grain growth, but little grain growth on Ce-TZP(Tetragonal Zirconia Policrystal). Mg-PSZ(Partially Stabilized Zirconia), Ca-PSZ, Ce-TZP setters showed extensive phase transformation. Y-TZP and fused Y-SZ (Stabilized Zirconia) setters were stable. The liquid sintering aids of BaTiO3 ceramics accelerate mass transport. The reaction of SrTiO3 in BaTiO3 with ZrO2 resulted in the formation of SrZrO3.

알카리용액에서 구름베어링용 세라믹스의 부식이 구름마모 및 경도에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Corrosion of Rolling Bearing Ceramics in Alkalic Solution on the Rolling Wear and Hardness)

  • Silicon nitride ceramic has been verified as an excellent rolling bearing material because of its high strength and outstanding rolling fatigue life properties. However under some corrosive circumstances it showed drawbacks such as hardness reduction and severe wear caused by corrosion. In this work, the variations of the rolling wear and hardness of three kinds of ceramics were studied for the specimen aged 15 days in alkali water (90$\pm$2$^{\circ}C$, 25 wt% NaOH). All of the specimens, \circled1Si$_3$N$_4$, \circled23Y-TZP and \circled33Y-TZP alloyed with 5 wt% CeO$_2$, were sintered and post-Hipped, and then polished up to 0.02 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$Ra of surface roughness. Rolling wear tests were conducted by MJ type rolling fatigue life tester under the initial theoretical maximum contact stress or 3.76 Gra and the spindle speed of 1,000 rpm. Spindle oil was used as a lubricant. The specimens were not worn before aging. For the specimen aged in alkali water, Si$_3$N$_4$and 3Y-TZP were worn by rolling wear tests, and hardness was decreased. While aging the specimens, the phase was transformed from tetragonal to monoclinic in 3Y-TZP and the microstructure change occurred in Si$_3$N$_4$. 3Y-TZP alloyed with 5 wt% CeO$_2$specimens were not worn after aging and no phase transformation occurred while aging.

알루미나 분산 2Y-TZP 세라믹스에서 알루미나 입자크기가 파괴인성에 미치는 영향 (Influence of $Al_2O_3$ Particle Size on the Fracture Toughness of Alumina-dispersed 2Y-TZP Ceramics)

  • 20vol% Al2O3-dispersed 2Y-TZP ceramics was prepared by mixing of 2Y-TZP and Al2O3 powder with different particle sizes, and investigated the influence of Al2O3 particle size and sintering condition on the microstructure and fracture toughness. Sintering conditions of the Al2O3-dispersed 2Y-TZP specimens showed high density at sintering condition of 1350℃ and 1500℃ for 1∼5h, and homogeneous microstructure. The grain size of tetragonal zirconia and the fracture toughness increased with the size of dispersed Al2O3 particle. The highest fracture toughness (∼17.2MPa·m1/2) of all specimens was obtained in the specimens with dispersed Al2O3 particle size of 1.0㎛ and sintered at 1500℃ for 2h.

CaO를 첨가한 2.5Y-TZP 세라믹스의 저온열화 거동 (Low Temperature Degradation Behavior for CaO Doped 2.5Y-TZP Ceramics)

  • The effects of CaO addition on the low temperature degradation behavior of 2.5Y-TZP ceramics were investigated. Y2O3-CaO-ZrO2 ceramics were prepared from the commercial Y-TZP powder added within 1 mol% of CaO. Fully tetragonal phase could be obtained at each composition under sintering condition of 1500$^{\circ}C$ for 1 hour. As the amount of CaO increased, grain size was decreased. From the result of heat treatment at 200$^{\circ}C$, volume fraction of monoclinic phase formed on the surface of each specimen was decreased with higher CaO amount. Stability of tetragonal ZrO2 phase for low temperature heat treatment was increased by CaO addition without the degradation of mechanical properties.

  • Zircon, having excellent thermal, chemical, and mechanical properties, is utilized in refractory materials, electronic materials, chemical machines, structural materials, etc. However, zircon generally shows thermal dissociation to zirconia($ZrO_2$) and silica($SiO_2$) around the sintering temperature of $1540^{\circ}C$, and when zircon particles are small and impurities are present, thermal dissociation is known to occur at around $1100^{\circ}C$. This reduces the mechanical properties of $ZrSiO_4$. In this research, the effect of adding $SiO_2$ and 3Y-TZP to $ZrSiO_4$ has been studied in order to suppress dissociation and improve the mechanical properties. Addition of $SiO_2$ suppressed the dissociation of $ZrSiO_4$ at lower temperatures. It also enabled optimum packing between the particles, resulting in a dense microstructure and good mechanical properties. When 3Y-TZP was added, recombination with the dissociated $SiO_2$ resulted in good mechanical properties by suppressing the generation of pores and the densification of the microstructure.

  • 재료의 선택에 따른 생체친화성을 고찰하기 위해서 조골세포의 세포배양실험을 실시하였으며, 이로부터 세포의 부착형상, 증식, 분화의 정도를 살펴보았다. 본 실험에서 세포배양모재는 체내식립재료로 주목을 받고 있는 TiO$_2$, 3Y-TZP, HA (Hydroxyapatite) 그리고 Ti를 사용하였으며 대조군으로 Thermanox를 선택하였다. 일반적으로 모든 시편들은 같은 세포배양시간일때 거의 유사한 세포부착형상을 보였다. 그러나, HA위의 세포들은 나머지 시편들보다 좀 더 두꺼운 형상을 보였으며 빠른 세포의 부착 및 퍼짐으로 인한 overlapping이 자주 관찰되었다. 세포의 증식 및 분화의 경우에도 생체활성의 특성을 지니는 HA가 가장 높은 값을 보였으며 생체불활성재료인 경우에는 Ti, TiO$_2$, 3Y-TZP모두 유의한 차이를 보이지 않고 비슷한 경향을 나타내었다.

MAS계에서 3Y-TZP 첨가에 따른 독립 기공 생성기구와 기계적 성질 (Isolated Pore Generation Mechanism and Mechanical Properties in MAS System with 3Y-TZP)

  • MAS system has narrow sintering temp. range due to the liquid phae sintering and thereby densify rapidly. And especially, its poor mechanical properties limitedthe industrial application. In this study, the improvement of mechanical properties and densification is suggested by the consideration of the toughening mechanisms and isolated pore generation mechanism which is derived by the liquid phase sintering theory in 3Y-TZP added composites. After Pressureless sintering up to 140$0^{\circ}C$ for 5hr, the dihedral angle and contact angle are analyzed by the observation of microstructure. As a result of microstructure analysis, the sintering stage of the specimen sintered for 5hr is analyzed as solid-skeleton stage. And the isolated pore generation mechanisms are considered as (1) The swelling of the liquid phase is predominent due to the facts that dihedral angle is larger than 60$^{\circ}$, contact angle is large and that liquid volume fraction is smaller than 10%. (2) The porous characteristics of the MAS system is also suggested as: the SiO2-rich liquid film is firstly formed at the srface and therefore this reduces the contiguity of the pore, which induces the isolated pore. The strength and fracture toughness increased with the addition of 3Y-TZP and the main fracture toughness improvement mechanisms are analyzed as the crack deflection.

3가 양이온 산화물이 첨가된 2Y-TZP의 저온 상안정성 (The Effect of Trivalent Cation Doping on the Low Temperature Phase Stability of 2Y-TZP)

  • 정방정 지르코니아의 상안정성 및 저온열화기구를 고찰하기 위해 Y2O3 안정화 지르코니아에 3가 양이온 산화물을 첨가한 후 그 소결체의 기계적 물성, 라만 스펙트럼 및 격자상수 변화 등을 관찰하였다. 2Y-TZP에 $Zr^{4+}$ 보다 이온크기가 큰 3가 양이온($Sc^{3+},\;Yb^{3+},\;Y^{3+},\;Sm^{3+},\;Nd^{3+},\;La^{3+}$)들을 2 mol%까지 첨가하여 $1500{\circ}C$에서 1시간 소결후, X-ray 상분석 결과 $La^{3+}$의 경우에는 0.5 mol% 이상 첨가시 pyrochlore 상$(La_2Zr_2O_7)$의 형성으로 정방정상의 상안정성이 저하되었다. 첨가량이 증가할수록 $Zr6{4+}$과 이온크기가 거의 비슷한 $Sc^{3+}$를 첨가한 경우에는 정방정상만 관찰되었으나 $Yb^{3+},\;Y^{3+},\;Sm^{3+},\;Nd^{3+}$를 첨가한 경우에는 입방정상이 형성되었다. 양이온 크기가 커질수록 c/a비는 증가하였으나 $220{\circ}C$에서 500시간까지 열처리후 상분석 결과 단사정량은 감소하였다.
