Microstructure and Dielectric Properties of a SrTiO3-based GBL Capacitor (SrTiO3계 GBL Capacitor의 미세구조 및 유전특성)

  • The microstructure and dielectric properties of a SrTiO3-based GBL (Grain Boundary Layer) capacitor were investigated. The 0.6 mol% Nb2O5 doped SrTiO3 was sintered for 3 hr at 1450$^{\circ}C$ in mixed gas(N2/H2) atmosphere. The Nb2O5 promoted the grain growth of the SrTiO3 ceramics was decreased with the amount of Nb2O5. The oxide mixture(PbO, Bi2O3, B2O3) were painted on the reduced specimen and fired at 1000$^{\circ}C$ to 1100$^{\circ}C$ in air. The penetrated oxide mixture into specimen were located in grain boundaries. A SrTiO3-based GBL capacitor had the apparent permittivity of about 3.0${\times}$104, the dielectric loss of 0.01-0.02, and insulating resistance of 108-109$\Omega$.cm. The capacitor had the stable temperature coefficient of capacitance and exhibited dielectric dispersion over 107 Hz. The capacitance-voltage measurements indicated that the grain boundary was composed of the continuous insulating layers.

Tafel Characteristics by Electrochemical Reaction of SnAgCu Pb-Free Solder (SnAgCu계 무연솔더의 전기화학적 반응에 따른 타펠 특성)

  • Recently European Council(EU) published the RoHS(restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment) which is prohibit the use of Pb, Hg, Cd, $Cr^{+6}$, PBB or PBDE in the electrical and electronic equipments. So EU member States shall ensure that, from 1 July 2006, new electrical and electronic equipment put on the market does not contain 6 hazardous substances. The one of the most important in electronics manufacturing process is soldering. Soldering process use the chemical substances which are applied in fluxing and cleaning processes and it can generate the malfunction of electronics caused by corrosion in the fields conditions. Therefore this study researched on the polarization and Tafel properties of Sn40Pb and Sn3.0Ag0.5Cu(SAC) solder based on the electrochemical theory. We prepared SnPb specimens which was aged in $150^{\circ}C,\;180^{\circ}C$ for 15 minutes ana Sn3.0Ag0.5Cu specimens that was aged in $180^{\circ}C,\;220^{\circ}C$ for 10 minutes. Experimental polarization curves were measured in distilled ionized water and $3.5 wt\%$, 1 mole NaCl electrolyte of $40^{\circ}C$, pH 7.5. Ag/AgCl and graphite were utilized by reference and counter electrode, respectively. To observe the electrochemical reaction, polarization test was conducted from -250 mV to +250 mV. From the polarization curves that were composed of anodic and cathodic curves, we obtained Tafel slop, reversible electrode potential(Ecorr) and exchange current density(Icorr). Surface Acoustic Wave Characteristics of PSS-PZT Cermaics with Cr addition (Cr 첨가에 따른 PSS-PZT 세라믹스의 탄성 표면파 특성)

  • In this study, to improve temperature stability 0.05 Pb(Sn$\_$$\frac{1}{2}$/Sb$\_$$\frac{1}{2}$/O$_3$ - 0.35PbTiO$_3$ - 0.60PbZrO$_3$ + 0.4[wt%]MnO$_2$ piezoelctric oeramics of low dielectric constant and large mechanical quality factor were manufactured with the addition of Cr$_2$O$_3$by Hot Press method. And the SAW delay line was fabricated and the propagation characteristics of SAW was investigated, and the SAW filter was fabricated on C4 added by 0.2[wt%] Cr$_2$O$_3$and its frequency characteristics was investigated. The specimen, whose propagation characteristics of surface acoustic wave were the best, was C4 added by 0.2[wt%] Cr$_2$O$_3$, and its electromechanical coupling factor(ks$^2$) was 3.11[%] and its temperature coefficient of the center frequency (C$\_$fo/) was -21.27[ppm/$^{\circ}C$]. The 31[MHz] SAW IF filter of C4 scarcely had diffraction phenomena and its group delay time was 1.4673 ${\pm}$40[ns] in the pass band, and the insertion loss was -24.419[dB] on no impedance matching.

Dielectric and Piezoelectric Properties of BNT-PNN-PZT system Ceramics (BNT-PNN-PZT계 세라믹스의 유전 및 압전특성에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, dielectric and piezoelectric properties of 0.4[0.1Bi(Ni$\_$1/2/Ti$\_$1/2/)O$_3$0.9Pb(Ni$\_$1/3/Nb$\_$2/3/)O$_3$]-0.6(PbZr$\_$y/Ti$\_$1-y/)O$_3$ceramics with Zr/Ti ratio were observed. As a results, structure of the ceramics with ZrO$_2$(y) 0.425 and 0.45 was MPB. Electromechanical coupling coefficients k$\_$p/, k$\_$31/ of the BN$\_$162/ specimen were 57.2%, 35.6% and piezoelectric constants d$\_$33/, d$\_$31/ were 720, 298[x10$\_$-12/C/N).

  • In this study, the piezoelectric and dielectric properties and Temperature stability of resonant frequency with MnO$_2$doped 0.36Pb(Sc$_{1}$2/Nb$_{1}$2/)O$_3$- 0.25Pb(Ni$_{1}$3/Nb$_{2}$3/)O$_3$-0.39PbTiO$_3$(hereafter PSNNT) were investigated. The tetagonality of crystal structure was developed with increasing MnO$_2$additive content. With increasing MnO$_2$additive content, the electromechanical coupling factor and quality factor were increased. Electromechanical coupling k$_{p}$ and quality factor Q$_{m}$ at MnO$_2$doped with 2.0mol% were showed highest value of 55.6% and 252. In the case of specimen for MnO$_2$doped with 2mol%, temperature dependance of resonant frequency had a good properties.ies.

A Study on the Creep Characteristics of QFP Solder Joints (QFP 솔더접합부의 크립특성에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, the creep characteristics of lead and lead-free solder joint were investigated using the QFP(Quad Flat Package) creep test. Two kind of solder pastes(Sn-3Ag-0.5Cu, Sn-0.2Sb-0.4Ag-37.4Pb) were applied to the QFP solder joints and each specimen was checked the external and internal failures(i.e., wetting failure, void, pin hole, poor-heel fillet) by digital microscope and X-ray inspection. The creep test was conducted at the temperatures of $100^{\circ}C$ and $130^{\circ}C$ under the load of 15$\sim$20% of average pull strength in solder joints. The creep characteristics of each solder joints were compared using the creep strain-time curve and creep strain rate-stress curves. Through the comparison, the Sn-3Ag-0.5Cu solder joints have higher creep resistance than that of Sn-0.3Sb-0.4Ag-37.4Pb. Also, the grain boundary sliding in the fracture surface and the necking of solder joint were observed by FE-SEM.

Dielectric and Field-induced Strain Behaviors due to Excess PbO in Lead Yttrium Zirconate Stannate Titanate Ceramics (과잉 PbO에 의한 (Pb,Y) $(Zr,Sn,Ti)O_3$세라믹스의 유전 및 전기장유기변형 특성)

  • The $Pb_{0.94}Y_{0.04}[(Zr_{0.6}Sn_{0.4})_{0.915}Ti_{0.085}]O_3$ ceramics which corresponded to the antiferroelectric-ferroelectric phase boundary composition were prepared for digital-type-piezoelectric/electrostrictive device application. Their dielectric, field-induced polarization (P) and strain (X) behaviors were studied with variations in sintering condition and excess PbO content. The orthorhombic structure of specimens was hardly affected either by excess PbO addition or sintering temperature. With increasing excess PbO content, grains tended to be smaller and rounded ones, and the optimum sintering temperature was lowered. Excess PbO addition stabilized the antiferroelectric phase of the specimen effectively, which was confirmed by P-E and X-E analyses. Also the digital-type-strain character was found to be enhanced despite of slight increase in phase transition (AFE-FE) field and electrical resistivity, and decrease in maximum strain. These results were explained in terms of possible lattice defects and domain wall motion.

  • The effect of $MnO_2$ addition in $0.05Pb(Sn_{0.5}Sb_{0.5})O_3-0.8PbZrO_3-0.15PbTiO_3$(0.05PSS-0.8PZ-0.15PT) ceramics on crystal structure and electrical properties were studied. The sintering temperature and time were $1230^{\circ}C{\sim}1270^{\circ}C$ and 2hr, respectively. Then crystal structure, dielectric and pyroelectric properties were investigated. All the poled specimens showed the lower dielectric constant and $tan{\delta}$ than the unpoled specimens. Dielectric constant at 1kHz of the 0.05PSS-0.8PZ-0.15PT(MnO2 0.3wt%) system specimen sintered at $1250^{\circ}C$ for 2hr were 270 and showed the lowest $tan{\delta}$ of 0.2% after poling of $2kV_{DC}/mm$ at $150^{\circ}C$ for 30 minutes. Pyroelectric coefficient was maximum value of $50nC/cm^2K$ and Curie temperature was $224^{\circ}C$.

  • We investigated the optical properties of lead zirconate($PbZrO_3$, PZ) thin films. The PZ films for the measurement of optical properties were prepared on ITO glass by sol-gel method. By post annealing, with annealing temperature $T=700^{\circ}C$, the pyrochlore phase of as-deposited specimen was transformed into the perovskite phase. The surface of films were plat, transmittance were from 60 to 80% at 480~2000nm, and refractive index were from 2.1 to 1.9 at 480~1000nm.
