In seismic reflection data processing, the crossdip correction effectively focuses the stacking energy near the sharp bends of a crooked survey line. Additionally, approximate 3-D information on the reflector (e.g., true crossdip angle and lateral continuity) are locally investigated as a by-product of the crossdip correction procedure. Improvement of the signal-to-noise ratio and estimation of reflector crossdip attitude are tested, in terms of both common midpoint bin direction and processing-line type, using synthetic seismic reflection data. To effectively image the reflection energy near bends in seismic survey lines, straight-line binning is preferred to slalom-line binning.
Four seismic reflection horizons in 3-D seismic data, coherence derived from the seismic data, and 38 well logs from the Boonsville Gas Filed in Texas were tried to be integrated and visualized in 3 dimensions. Time surface was constructed from pick times of the reflection horizons. Average velocities to each horizon at 38 well locations were calculated based on depth markers from the well logs and time picks from the 3-D seismic data. The time surface was transformed to depth surface through velocity interpolation. Coherence was calculated on the 3-D seismic data by semblance method. Spatial distribution of the coherence is captured easily in 3-D visualization. Comparing to a time-slice of seismic data, distinctive stratigraphic features could be correctly recognized on the 3-D visualization.
Gas hydrate has been paid attention to study for because: 1) it can be considered as a new energy resources; 2) one of reasons causing the instability of sea floor slope and 3) a factor to the climate change. Bottom simulating reflector (BSR) defined as seismic boundary between the gas hydrate and free gas zone has been considered as the most common evidence in the seismic reflection data for the gas hydrate exploration. BSR has several characteristics such as parallel to the sea bottom, high amplitude, reducing interval velocity between above and below BSR and reversing phase to the sea bottom. Moreover, instantaneous attribute properties such as amplitude envelop, instantaneous frequency, phase and first derivative of amplitude of seismic data from the complex analysis could be used to analyze properties of BSR those would be added to the certain properties of BSR in order to effectively find out the existence of BSR of the gas hydrate stability zone. The output of conventional seismic data processing for gas hydrate data set in Ulleung basin in the East sea of Korea will be used for complex analyses to indicate better BSR in the seismic reflection data. This result of this analysis implies that the BSR of the analyzed seismic profile is clearly located at the two ways time (TWT) of around 3.1 seconds.

The purpose of this paper is to present the method of acquiring 3D GIS data using the statistical estimating methods of Well Log for balancing Seismic data. We use the reflection coefficients of seismic data to get the parameters for the reservoir characterization and we balance the reflection coefficients of seismic data using well log to increase the confidence of the estimated result. Well logs are required to balance the reflection coefficients at the point where seismic data are acquired. In this research, we discuss the geostatistical estimation methods and we applied these methods to real data. Kriging gives high weights to the close well logs, which means estimated results are mainly affected by close well log. High value of cross variograms gave big difference on cokriging result comparing to kriging results and low value of cross variogram gave little differences.
In order to visualize mine cavities, 3D seismic reflection data were acquired at the ground subsidence sites near Nampung coal mine area, Neukguri, Dogye, Samchuck. Full range 3D array with complete range of azimuths on the bins was considered in the data acquisition design. Because of poor S/N data, we estimated the stacking velocities by CVS method, and we estimated the shot and receiver statics on the shot and receiver stack data. We could confirm that features of ground collapse that were expected from the subsidence. In order to visualize the cavities, we need to apply more sophisticated processing schemes, such as velocity analysis, residual statics correction.

Thickness of concrete lining, voids at the back of lining or shotcrete are very important elements for inspecting the safety of tunnels. Therefore, the inspection of tunnel lining structure means to investigate the inner layer boundaries of the structure. For this purpose, seismic reflection survey is the most desirable method if it works in good conditions. However, the conventional seismic reflection method can not be properly used for investigating thin layers in the lining structure. In other words, to detect the inner boundaries, it is desirable for the wavelength of source to be less than the thickness of each layer and for the receiver to be capable of detecting high frequency(ultrasonic) signals. To this end, new appropriate source and receiver devices should be developed above all for the ultrasonic reflection survey. This paper deals primarily with the development of source and receiver devices which are essential parts of field measuring system. Interests are above all centered in both the radiation pattern, energy, frequency content of the source and the directional sensitivity of the receiver. With these newly devised ones, ultrasonic physical modeling has been performed on 3-D physical model composed of bakelite, water-proof and concrete, The measured seismograms showed a clear separation of wave arrivals reflected from each layer boundary. Furthermore, it is noteworthy that reflection events from the bottom of concrete below water-proof could be also observed. This result demonstrates the usefulness of the both devices that can be applied to benefit the ultrasonic reflection survey. Future research is being focus on dealing with at first an optimal configuration of source and receiver devices well coupled to tunnel wall, and further an efficient data control system of practical use.
The paper discusses a data processing methodology that derives a three dimensional porosity volume information from the 3-D seismic dataset. The methodology consists of preprocessing and inversion procedures. The purpose of the preprocessing is balancing the amplitudes of seismic traces by using reflectivity series derived from sonic and density logs. There are eight sonic logs are available in the study area; therefore, we can compute only 8 balance functions. The balance function for every seismic trace was derived from these 8 balance functions by kriging. In order to derive a wide-band acoustic impedance --similar to the one can be derived from a sonic log- from a band-limited reflection seismogram, we need to recover missing low- and high-frequency information of the seismic trace. For that Purpose we use the autoregressive method.
It is very important to estimate the physical properties of survey area and delineate the geological basement in marine site survey for the design of offshore structures. For the purpose of providing high quality data by means of engineering site survey, it is necessary to apply several survey techniques and carry out the integrated interpretation to each other. In this study, we applied single channel seismic reflection method and OBC (Ocean Bottom Cable) type seismic refraction method at shallow marine. We used a dual boomer-single channel streamer as a source-receiver in seismic reflection survey and airgun source-the developed OBC type streamer in seismic refraction survey. We made 24 channels OBC type streamer which has 4m channel interval and each channel is composed of single hydrophone and preamplifier. We tested the field applicability of the proposed method and applied the typical seismic data processing methods to the obtained reflection data in order to enhance the data quality and image resolution. In order to estimate the geological velocity distribution from refraction data, seismic refraction tomography technique was applied. Therefore, we could successfully perform time-depth conversion using the velocity information as an integrated interpretation. The proposed method could provide reliable geologic information such as sediment layer thickness and 3D basement depth map.
The static correction, which is classified into refraction based static correction and reflection based residual static correction, removes distortions caused by irregularities of thickness or velocity in near-surface. Generally, refraction statics is a time consuming process because of high dependence on the interpreter's analysis. Therefore, for huge 3D seismic data, automatic static correction which minimizes the interpreter's analysis is required. In this research, we introduce an efficient method of refraction static correction for land 3D seismic survey.
Geophysical survey for unconformity-type uranium deposit applied to this study area in Athabaska Basin, Canada were carried out airborne TEM and magnetic, resistivity-induced polarization (DC-IP), puser seismic reflection and well-logging method. The results of airborne survey interpreted the lithological boundary, geological structures, and conductors. Also, these results decided to main targets for ground DC-IP survey. The Low resistivity and the high chargeability slices of 3D modeling interpreted from DC-IP survey response for conductors related to hydrothermal alteration zones and fault-controlled graphitic zones occurring at the unconformity-type uranium deposit, and they confirmed by diamond drilling. Seismic results interpreted to lake bottom surface, alluvium layer and intra-sandstone faults. We suggest the resonable field data acquisition of DC-IP method on the land or the lake in Athabaska Basin.
