  • To assess the effects of filter and reconstruction of Cu-64 PET data on Siemens scanner, the various reconstruction algorithm with various filters were assessed in terms of spatial resolution, non-uniformity (NU), recovery coefficient (RC), and spillover ratio (SOR). Image reconstruction was performed using filtered backprojection (FBP), 2D ordered subset expectation maximization (OSEM), 3D reprojection algorithm (3DRP), and maximum a posteriori algorithms (MAP). For the FBP reconstruction, ramp, butterworth, hamming, hanning, or parzen filters were used. Attenuation or scatter correction were performed to assess the effect of attenuation and scatter correction. Regarding spatial resolution, highest achievable volumetric resolution was $3.08mm^3$ at the center of FOV when MAP (${\beta}=0.1$) reconstruction method was used. SOR was below 4% for FBP when ramp, Hamming, Hanning, or Shepp-logan filter were used. The lowest NU (highest uniform) after attenuation & scatter correction was 5.39% when FBP (parzen filter) was used. Regarding RC, 0.9 < RC < 1.1 was obtained when OSEM (iteration: 10) was used when attenuation and scatter correction were applied. In this study, image quality of Cu-64 on Siemens Inveon PET was investigated. This data will helpful for the quantification of Cu-64 PET data.

  • We designed the multiple scattering points generation system to simulate an actual situation of target signal for high range resolution radar system. This provides replicating the target signals and controlling the status of target signals for radar system. This is composed transmit antenna and multi target generator. Transmit antenna is waveguide array antenna and multi target generator has signal distribution module and control & power module. Multi target generator is able to provide the high isolation and variable output power. Moreover, in order to monitor all output signals of the multi target generator, the flows of signals are programed in control & power module. The performance is demonstrated using experimented results of high range resolution radar.

  • In this paper, we present the basic design results for high-resolution radar development at S-band frequency that can precisely measure the miss distance between two targets. The basic system requirement is proposed for the design of a 3.5 GHz linear frequency-modulated (LFM) radar with maximum detection distance and distance resolution of 2 km and 1 m, respectively, and the specifications of each module are determined using the radar equation. Our calculations revealed a signal-to-noise ratio ${\geq}30dB$ with a bandwidth of 150 MHz, transmission power of 43 dBm for the power amplifier, gain of 26 dBi for the antenna, noise figure of 8 dB, and radar cross-section of $1m^2$ at a target distance of 2 km from the radar. Based on the calculation results and the theory and method of LFM radar design, the hardware was designed using software defined radar technology. The results of the subsequent field test are presented that prove that the designed radar system satisfies the requirements.

  • The Digital Frequency Synthesizer(DFS) that generates the wideband signal with hish speed frequency hopping rate and high frequency resolution characteristics was implemented in this paper. The DFS was applied as local oscillator for direct frequency conversion IF modules of DVB-RCS, which directly generates the transmission immediate frequency signal by using DDS and wideband PLL technologies. The DDS technology provides high speed frequency hopping rate and high frequency resolution characteristics, which ate also the DVB-RCS requirement. The wideband PLL technology also provides the wideband signal generation, which is a necessity for direct frequency conversion modules. The implemented DFS provide the spurious suppression characteristic of -50 dBc, frequency resolution of 0.233 Hz and frequency hopping rate of 125 ns, respectively. Also the DFS represent the amplitude flatness of 3 dB and less in the pass-band and phase noise characteristic of -75 dBc/Hz at 1 kHz frequency offset.

  • We developed a time-lapse inversion using new cross-model constraints based on change ratio and resolution of model parameters. The cross-model constraint based on change ratio imposes the same penalty on the model parameters with equal change ratio. This constraint can emphasize the model parameters with significant change regardless of their increase or decrease. The resolution cross-model constraint imposes a small penalty on the model parameters with poor resolution, but a large penalty on the model parameters with good resolution. Thus, the model parameter with poor resolution can be effectively identified in the inversion result if they are significantly changed with time. Through the numerical tests for 3D resistivity monitoring data sets, the performance of these two cross-model constraints was confirmed. Finally, for the safety estimation of a sea dyke, we applied the developed time-lapse inversion to the 3D resistivity monitoring data that were acquired at a sea dike located in western coastal area of Korea. The result of time-lapse inversion suggested that there were no significant changes at the sea dike during the monitoring period.

  • Modern distance sensing methods employ various measurement principles, including triangulation, time-of-flight, confocal, interferometric and frequency comb. Among them, the triangulation method, with a laser light source and an image sensor, is widely used in low-cost applications. We developed an omnidirectional two-dimensional (2D) distance sensor based on the triangulation principle for indoor floor mapping applications. The sensor has a range of 150-1500 mm with a relative resolution better than 4% over the range and 1% at 1 meter distance. It rotationally scans a compact one-dimensional (1D) distance sensor, composed of a near infrared (NIR) laser diode, a folding mirror, an imaging lens, and an image detector. We designed the sensor layout and configuration to satisfy the required measurement range and resolution, selecting easily available components in a special effort to reduce cost. We built a prototype and tested it with seven representative indoor wall specimens (white wallpaper, gray wallpaper, black wallpaper, furniture wood, black leather, brown leather, and white plastic) in a typical indoor illuminated condition, 200 lux, on a floor under ceiling mounted fluorescent lamps. We confirmed the proposed sensor provided reliable distance reading of all the specimens over the required measurement range (150-1500 mm) with a measurement resolution of 4% overall and 1% at 1 meter, regardless of illumination conditions.

  • This paper presents an efficient image stitching method using preprocessing in order to generate a super resolution image. Two-dimensional (2D) scanners are consistently used in various areas but they have limitations such as paper sizes and materials. To overcome these problem with low-cost, an efficient imaging stitching method is proposed for producing a super resolution panorama image. To scan a very large sized paper using mobile phones, a simple portable cradle which fixes height is employed producing an input image set. To improve matching performance, a preprocessing method is introduced before searching correspondences. Then alpha blending is applied to an input image set to produce a super resolution panorama image. The proposed method is faster and easier than the existing method which is employed by Open CV. Experiment results show that the proposed method is three times faster and performs better than the existing method.
