A self-centering energy-dissipative(SCED) bracing system has recently been developed as a new seismic force resistant bracing system. The advantage of the SCED brace system is that, unlike other comparable advanced bracing systems that dissipate energy such as the buckling restrained brace(BRB) system, it has a self-centering capability that reduces or eliminates residual building deformations after major seismic events. In order to investigate the effects of torsion on the SCED brace and BRB systems, nonlinear time history analyses were used to compare the responses of 3D model structures with three different amounts of frame eccentricity. The results of the analysis showed that the interstory drifts of SCED braced frames are more uniform than those of BRB frames, without regard to irregularity. The residual drift and residual rotation responses tended to decrease as irregularity increased. For medium-rise structures, the drift concentration factors(DCFs) for SCED systems were lower than those for BRB frames. This means that SCED-braced frames deform in a more uniform manner with respect to building height. The effect of the torsional irregularity on the magnitude of the DCFs was small.

SGM (Semi Global Matching) can be used to find all the conjugate points between stereo images. Therefore, it enables high-density DSM (Digital Surface Model) production from high-resolution satellite images. However, water, shadows, and occlusion areas cause mismatching of the surrounding points in this method. Particularly, in buildings with large-parallax and elongated-shapes such as a Korean style apartment, it is difficult to reconstruct the 3D building even if the SGM method is applied to a high-resolution 50cm satellite image. This study proposed and performed the SGM technique with a classified image and an edge image from the IKONOS-2 satellite stereo-image with a 1m resolution to produce DSM. It was compared with the DSMs from the general SGM and the high-density ABM (Area Based Matching) matching of ERDAS software. The results of the apartment DSM by the proposed method were the best in the test area. As a result, despite the image having a resolution of 1m, the outline of the building DSM could be expressed more clearly than the existing method.

The main factor for the amplification of ground motions near the crest or the toe of a slope is the reflection of the incident waves. The effects of the slope topography on the surrounding lands over the crest or at the toe can amplify the seismic responses of buildings. This study investigates the seismic performance of the slope topography and three mid-rise buildings (five, ten, and fifteen-storey) located near the crest and toe of the slope by 3D numerical analysis. The nonlinear model was used to represent the real behavior of building and ground elements. The average results of seven records were used in the investigations. Based on the analysis, the amplification factor of acceleration near the crest and toe of the slope was the most effective at distances of 2.5 and 1.3 times the slope height, respectively. Accordingly, the seismic performance of buildings was studied at a distance equal to the height of the slope from the crest and toe. The seismic response results of buildings showed that the slope topography to have little impact on up to five-storey buildings located near the crest. Taking into account a topography-soil-structure interaction system increases the storey displacement and base shear in the building. Accordingly, in topography-soil-structure interaction analyses, the maximum lateral displacement was increased by 71% and 29% in ten and fifteen-storey buildings, respectively, compare to the soil-structure interaction system. Further, the base shear force was increased by 109% and 78% in these buildings relative to soil-structure interaction analyses.

Recently, Through the linkage and opening, the fusion of the spatial information, it is necessary for productive ecosystem to provide a variety of information and to increase the civil use. Depending on the economic growth, demand for quality of life and well-being has been on the increase. Spatial information service contents for the public convenience has emerged to solve the problem such as health, safety, welfare and discomfort of daily life This study aims to implement search services for a tailored residence space through the three-dimensional data modeling on cadastral information. To achieve this goal, we established the requirements for deriving a registered object by investigating recent trend with respect to existing cadastral data model and defined property and relationship. Focusing on Songpa-gu, Jamsil station in Seoul, we implemented search services for a tailored residence space for three-dimensional right analysis in conjunction with residential and commercial complex building. As a result, we derived a way to supply 3D cadastre information through open platforms (VWorld) and to represent efficiently, which is able to improve the quality of spatial information service contents for the public convenience as well as to widen utilization of information.
Recently a slat type ceiling is widely used in various spaces, such as music performance spaces and concourse of airport and a general reception area of a building. However, it is hard to find a proper design guideline or material useful in designing such spaces, due to the lack of relevant researches on the effect of a slat ceiling on room acoustics. The present work investigated the effect of a slat type ceiling using a physical scale model method. A 1/20 scale model of a small shoe-box type music performance hall was built and a slat ceiling with different configurations was installed. 6 cases of different ceiling configurations were considered with the combination of 2 slat ceiling height cases and 3 distance cases between slats. The effect of a slat ceiling on the acoustics of a room was evaluated by measuring reverberance($T_{30}$), intelligibility and clarity($D_{50}$ and $C_{80}$), and loudness(G and $G_{80}$).

A methodology for BIM Quality Assurance in the construction industry is becoming increasingly an important issue to determine the reliability of BIM. However, the quality assurance of BIM is currently limited to check 3D models, such as clash detection and space layout while verification methods for disciplinary BIM results from structural engineering, mechanical engineering, and estimation do not exist yet. Particularly, in the BIM-based estimation mathematical equations to take off quantities are not clearly exposed so that the results are not quite accepted at practices. With the concept of reliability engineering defined in the manufacturing industry to improve reliability of outcomes of BIM-based quantity take-off, impacting factors that affect reliability of BIM-based quantity take-off were derived. It was found that the factors also include the modeling method and the features of a BIM tool. Therefore, this research aims to propose modeling and verification methods to improve reliability of BIM-based quantity take-off through the pilot test that was performed with commercial BIM tools and IFC-based BIM data.

This study is to develop a diagnostic model for the effective introduction of smart factories in the manufacturing industry, to diagnose SMEs that have difficulties in building their own smart factory compared to large enterprise, to identify the current level and to present directions for implementation. IT, AT, and OT experts diagnosed 18 SMEs using the "Smart Factory Capacity Diagnosis Tool" developed for smart factory level assessment of companies. They analyzed the results and assessed the level by smart factory diagnosis categories. Companies' smart factory diagnostic mean score is 322 out of 1000 points, between 1 level (check) and 2 level (monitoring). According to diagnosis category, Factory Field Basic, R&D, Production/Logistics/Quality Control, Supply Chain Management and Reference Information Standardization are high but Strategy, Facility Automation, Equipment Control, Data/Information System and Effect Analysis are low. There was little difference in smart factory level depending on whether IT system was built or not. Also, Companies with large sales amount were not necessarily advantageous to smart factories. This study will help SMEs who are interested in smart factory. In order to build smart factory, it is necessary to analyze the market trends, SW/ICT and establish a smart factory strategy suitable for the company considering the characteristics of industry and business environment.

Recently, due to global warming, it is easily exposed to various disasters such as fire, flood, and earthquake. In particular, large-scale disasters have continuously been occurring in crowded areas such as traditional markets, facilities for the elderly and children, and public facilities where various people stay. Purpose: This study aims to detect a fire occurred in crowded facilities early in the event to analyze and provide an optimal evacuation route using big data and advanced technology. Method: The researchers propose a new algorithm through context-aware 3D object model technology and A* algorithm optimization and propose a scenario-based optimal evacuation route selection technique. Result: Using the HPA* E algorithm, the evacuation simulation in the event of a fire was reproduced as a 3D model and the optimal evacuation route and evacuation time were calculated for each scenario. Conclusion: It is expected to reduce fatalities and injuries through the evacuation induction technique that enables evacuation of the building in the shortest path by analyzing in real-time via fire detection sensors that detects the temperature, flame, and smoke.
In recent years, building information modeling (BIM) has been an important issue within the architect, engineering, and construction (AEC) industry. BIM provides a way to share and exchange semantically rich information about the buildings in order to achieve a successful level of collaboration, communication, and interaction between stakeholders throughout the life cycle of the project. However, despite the recognition of its potential, BIM has not yet been utilized in the construction, operation, and maintenance stages because of the need to reorganize the BIM by reflecting the as-built status of the buildings. In order to improve and increase the use of BIM at all phases of a project, several research efforts are exploring the creation of an as-built BIM that is based on advanced sensors. However, there is a lack of literature and investigation on this research area to date within the domestic AEC industry. The aim of this study is to suggest ways in which BIM can be utilized within the construction, operation, and maintenance stages based on advanced sensors so that it is an approach that might be usefully carried forward. This paper begins by presenting a review of the existing BIM research and achievement in order to determine the limitations of the use of BIM in the domestic AEC industry. Conclusively, this paper suggests a direction for the future applications of BIM and describes how it can benefit from additional research.

A novel technique was proposed to calculate fluxes accurately by separation of flow area into a part of step face which is dominated by flow resistance of it and an upper part which is relatively less affected by the step face in analyzing shallow-water flows over discontinuous topography. This technique gives fairly good agreement with exact solutions, 3D simulations, and experimental results. It has been possible to directly analyze shallow-water flows over discontinuous topography by the technique developed in this study. It is expected to apply the developed technique to accurate evaluation of overflows over weirs or retaining walls (riverside roads) and areas flooded by the inundation in the city covered in discontinuous topography.
