It is difficult to reuse the captured motion data, because the data has a difficulty in editing it. In this paper, a uniform posture mar (UPM) algorithm, one of unsupervised learning neural network is proposed to edit the captured motion data. Because it needs much less computational cost than other motion editing algorithms, it is adequate to apply in teal-time applications. The UPM algorithm prevents from generating an unreal posture in learning phase. It not only makes more realistic motion curves, but also contributes to making more natural motions. Above of all, it complements the weakness of the existing algorithm where the calculation quantity increases in proportion to increase the number of restricted condition to solve the problems of high order articulated body. In this paper, it is shown two applications as a visible the application instance of UPM algorithm. One is a motion transition editing system, the other is a inductive inverse kinematics system. This method could be applied to produce 3D character animation based on key frame method, 3D game, and virtual reality, etc.

Recently, mobile devices support multi-functions such as 3D game, wireless internet, moving pictures, DMB, GPS, and PMP. Bigger size of display device is indispensable to support these functions and higher speed of the interface is needed. However, conventional parallel interfaces between processor and display nodule are not competent enough for that high speed transfers. High-speed serial interface is beginning to appear as an alternative for parallel interface. The advantages of the serial interface are high bandwidth, small number of interconnections, low-power consumption, and good quality of electro-magnetic interference. In this paper, we implement serial interface and use it for a display module. LVDS is used for PHY layer and a defined packet is used for link layer. The feature of the implemented serial interface is the reduced number of interconnections with enough bandwidth.

In this paper, we propose a GPU-based interactive and plausible visualization method for the silt and landslide simulation results computed with SPH. By empirical experiments, we verify that our GPU-accelerated screen space mesh method can be effectively used for visualizing the landslide disaster simulation. The method proposed in this paper make it possible to overcome the limitation of previous simulations where the experience obtained by trials and errors plays the most important roles. Because the realtime visualization enables interactive observation of simulation results and efficient data assimilation, the accuracy of the simulation can be significantly improved in an efficient way.

In this paper, we propose a automated techniques for generating the gait animation of humanoid character model required in game applications. The proposed method can generate motion data of various styles with intuitive manipulation, and techniques for editing motion data are also proposed. In addition, we introduce an automated tool for gait animation of character model developed with the proposed method to verify the effectiveness of our method. The proposed method tan be successfully employed in motion authoring tools. In this paper, only the gait animation was considered. However, the proposed method can be applied to various motions and can be utilized as a motion engine that automatically generates proper motion according to the state of the character. The motion engine can express various behavior of the character without requiring motion data base which is usually employed in 3D online games.

In this paper, we use Sound-tracing, a 3D sound technology based on ray-tracing that uses geometric method as auditory technology to enhance realism. The Sound-tracing is costly in the sound propagation stage. In order to reduce the sound propagation cost, we propose a method to calculate the average effective frame number of previous frames using the frame coherence property and to adjust the depth according to the space based on the calculated number. Experimental results show that the path loss rate is 0.72% and the traversal & Intersection test calculation amount is decreased by 85.13% and the frame rate is increased by 4.48% when the sound source is indoors, compared with the result of the case without depth control. When the sound source was outdoors, the path loss was 0% and the traversal & Intersection test calculation amount is decreased by 25.01% and the frame rate increased by 7.85%. This allowed the rendering performance to be increased while minimizing the path loss rate.

We propose energy-efficient scheduling considering real-time constraints and energy efficiency in smart mobile with heterogeneous multi-core structure. Recently, high-performance applications such as VR, AR, and 3D game require real-time and high-level processings. The big.LITTLE architecture is applied to smart mobiles devices for high performance and high energy efficiency. However, there is a problem that the energy saving effect is reduced because LITTLE cores are not properly utilized. This paper proposes a heterogeneous multi-core assignment technique that improves real-time performance and high energy efficiency with big.LITTLE architecture. Our proposed method optimizes the energy consumption and the execution time by predicting the actual task execution time using SVM (Support Vector Machine). Experiments on an off-the-shelf smartphone show that the proposed method reduces energy consumption while ensuring the similar execution time to legacy schemes.
This paper describes our experience to design and implementation of a collaborative system framework that allows to develop certain collaborative applications such as 3D animation, computer game, and industrial design. The collaborative system enables users, who located in geographically long distance, to do collaborative work in a single virtual space. The proposed system basically consists of client and server system. The goal of proposed system is to support scalability, portability, and platform independent. In order to achieve these, the server is implemented in Java platform and is adopted to the hybrid architecture which takes the advantages both in centralized and decentralized collaborative system. We construct the server base on its functional characteristics so called User Manager Server (UMS), Session Manager Server (SMS), and Information Server (IS), The UMS manages the users who are taking part in the collaborative operations. The SMS supports the conferencing in the proposed system. The IS provides the connection methods among the UMSs. For user's convenience, we implement the client using Visual C++ in Windows. We also expend the functions of 3D Studio Max to distributed environment by means of the plug-in module, and facilitate the chatting and white board functions as well.
This study aimed at investigating the validity of WHR (or waist-to-hip ratio) and Golden ratio as standards of physical attractiveness. Each of 60 male and 60 female college students were divided into two groups of 30. Using the 3D game program, each person in one group drew a physically attractive figure of the opposite sex while the other group drew a physically attractive figure of the same sex. Then, WHR and Golden ratio of the figures were measured and compared with the ideal WHR (.7 for women and .9 for men) and Golden ratio 1.618. It was found that WHR and Golden ratio for the physically attractive figures were lower than the ideal standards regardless of the participant's gender. That is, the participants preferred to men and women having curvaceous body shapes with a narrow waist and a wide pelvis. In most cases, Golden ratios measured in many ways were not correspondent to the ideal ratio, 1.618. In regards to BR (or Body Ratio), the legs and waist of the physically attractive figures were shorter relative to the Golden ratio and this was more salient for physically attractive man figures. Regarding the facial ratio measured by FR(or facial ratio) and FR_VP(or facial ratio_vertical point), the faces of figures made by participants, regardless of their sex, were shorter and wider compared to the Golden ratio. Further, the participants preferred baby-faced woman and masculine man figures. Finally, implications of the findings, limitations the of the present study, and the suggestions for future research were discussed.

Unlike conventional smart farms that require chemical fertilizers and large spaces, aquaponics farming, which utilizes the symbiotic relationship between aquatic organisms and crops to grow crops even in abnormal environments such as environmental pollution and climate change, is being actively researched. Different crops require different environments and nutrients for growth, so it is necessary to configure the ratio of aquatic organisms optimized for crop growth. This study proposes a method to measure the degree of growth based on area and volume using image processing techniques in an aquaponics environment. Tilapia, carp, catfish, and lettuce crops, which are aquatic organisms that produce organic matter through excrement, were tested in an aquaponics environment. Through 2D and 3D image analysis of lettuce and real-time data analysis, the growth degree was evaluated using the area and volume information of lettuce. The results of the experiment proved that it is possible to manage cultivation by utilizing the area and volume information of lettuce. It is expected that it will be possible to provide production prediction services to farmers by utilizing aquatic life and growth information. It will also be a starting point for solving problems in the changing agricultural environment.

Climate change is undeniably the most urgent challenge that humanity faces today. Despite this, the level of public awareness and understanding of climate change remains insufficient, indicating a need for more proactive education and the development of supportive content. In particular, it is crucial to intensify climate change education during elementary and secondary schooling when values and ethical consciousness begin to form. However, there is a significant lack of age-appropriate, experiential educational content. To address this, our study has developed an innovative 3D simulator, enabling learners to indirectly experience the effects of climate change, specifically sea-level rise. This simulator considers not only sea-level rise caused by climate change but also storm surges, which is a design based on the analysis of long-term wave observation big data. To make the simulator accessible and engaging for students, we utilized the 'Unity' game engine. We further propose using this simulator as a part of a comprehensive educational program on climate change.
