  • In order to obtain the fundamental data on the auditory thresholds of fishes for marine ranching, the auditory thresholds of black rockfish Sebastes inermis were measured in the presence of masking noise in the spectrum level range of $73\~83$ dB (0 dB re $1{\mu}Pa/\sqrt{Hz}$) with a classical cardiac conditioning technique. Critical ratios were about $28\~34$ dB at $80\~300$ Hz and $47\~52$ dB at $500\~800$ Hz. The ratio increased almost linearly with increasing frequency to 500 Hz. The noise spectrum level at the start of masking was about 70 dB within the frequency range of $80\~800$ Hz excepting 65 dB at 300 Hz. It means that hearing of the black rockfish is masked in the natural environment with the noise spectrum level above 65 dB. The sound pressure level of $200\~300$ Hz recognized by black rockfish was above 96 dB under the ambient noise and the critical ratio of them was above 26 dB.

  • In order to obtain the fundamental data on the auditory thresholds of fishes for marine ranching, the auditory thresholds of black rock fish Sebastes Schlegeli were measured in the presence of masking noise in the spectrum level range of 73 - 83dB (0dB re $1{\mu}Pa/{\sqrt{Hz}}$) with a classical cardiac conditioning technique. Critical ratios were about 19 - 30dB at 80 - 300Hz and 46 - 54dB at 500 - 800Hz. The ratio increased almost linearly with increasing frequency to 500Hz. The noise spectrum level at the start of masking was about 70dB within the frequency range of 80 - 800Hz excepting 65dB at 300Hz. This suggests that hearing of the black rock fish is masked in the natural environment with the noise spectrum level above 65dB. The sound pressure level of which the signal sound of 100 - 200Hz is recognized by black rock fish under the ambient noise is above 90dB and the critical ratio of them is above 20dB.

  • Construction safety training has mostly relied on one-way transference of instructors' knowledge to trainees through traditional media such as textbooks and lecture slides. However, safety knowledge could be more effectively acquired in experiential situations. The authors proposed a serious game to provide a comprehensive safety training environment. Trainees who assume the roles of safety inspectors in the game explore a virtual construction site to identify potential hazards and learn from the contents of feedback created by the game as a result of trainees' input. The paper reports details of the game design and development process. The test results indicated that trainees were motivated to refresh their safety knowledge, increased their learning interests, and enjoyed the learning process. In addition, trainees showed positive attitudes towards using the game scoring as a way of evaluating their safety knowledge. The test results encouraged the continuous development of the game.

  • This study was conducted to examine the practical and educational implications of teachers' operation of the curriculum through science and online classes based on data collected for 4 months from 4 teachers who had experience in science subject online classes among homeroom teachers in the 3rd to 6th grades of elementary school in D city. This study was conducted through narrative inquiry. As a result of conducting interviews and in-depth interviews based on the online class experiences of the Earth Science Unit of the study subjects, and conducting field classes with related documents such as online class-related materials and teacher journals, teachers were more likely to take online classes compared to traditional face-to-face classes. They spent more time preparing and showed difficulties in the process of adapting to the new medium used in online classes. In addition, they demanded the provision of scientific materials produced in a pandemic situation and a teaching platform for smooth class operation. In particular, in the case of experimental classes, there is a burden of completing the planned curriculum, and in a pandemic situation, students felt the need for individual experimental tools for intensive science classes. As a result, it is necessary to introduce a blended learning learning system that combines the advantages of face-to-face and online classes as a new class form for the transition to future education in preparation for the pandemic. Continuous teacher research on the format and online class experience is required.

  • In this study, when applying the 'geological structure' content element of high school earth science I developed according to the 2015 curriculum to the STEAM program using a web-based expert system using 3D data of Google Earth and drones, the creative problem-solving ability of high school students, attitudes toward STEAM, and the results of this study are as follows. First, after applying the STEAM program, high school students' creative problem-solving ability showed meaningful results at the p<.001 level. Second, STEAM attitudes showed a significant value at the p<.001 level, confirming that they had a positive impact on high school students' attitudes towards STEAM. It was judged that web-based class activities using Google Earth and drones were useful for integrated thinking such as learners' sense of efficacy and value recognition for usefulness of knowledge. High school students' satisfaction with the STEAM program was 3.251, showing a slightly high average. It was confirmed that web-based class activities such as drones and Google Earth had a positive impact on learners' class satisfaction. However, it was interpreted that the lack of time for class activities limited the ability of the learners to increase their interest in class. The proposal of this research is as follows. First of all, in consideration of the production of presentation materials and practical training in the STEAM program, activities such as block time and advance instruction for class understanding before class are necessary. Secondly, in order to revitalize STEAM education in the high school curriculum, we judge that research on the development of various integrated education programs that can be applied to the high school grade system is necessary.

  • The southwestern part of the East Sea is known to have a high primary productivity compared to those in the northern and eastern parts, which is attributed to nutrients supplies either by Tsushima Warm Current or by coastal upwelling. However, research on the biological pump in this area is limited. We developed machine learning models to estimate net community production (NCP), a measure of biological pump, with high spatial and time scales of 4 km and 8 days, respectively. The models were fed with the input parameters of sea surface temperature, chlorophyll-a, mixed layer depths, and photosynthetically active radiation and trained with observed NCP derived from high resolution measurements of surface O2/Ar. The root mean square error between the predicted values by the best performing machine model and the observed NCP was 6 mmol O2 m-2 d-1, corresponding to 15% of the average of observed NCP. The NCP in the central part of the Ulleung Basin was highest in March at 49 mmol O2 m-2 d-1 and lowest in June and July at 18 mmol O2 m-2 d-1. These seasonal variations were similar to the vertical nitrate flux based on the 3He gas exchange rate and to the particulate organic carbon flux estimated by the 234Th disequilibrium method. To expand this method, which produces NCP estimate for spring and summer, to autumn and winter, it is necessary to devise a way to correct bias in NCP by the entrainment of subsurface waters during the seasons.

  • According to the Digi Capital forecast, the global augmented reality market is expected to grow rapidly by 2020 to reach 150 billion dollars. In particular, high value added effects are expected in education. As ICT advances, digital textbooks are also leading innovative education by adding interactive functions. Advanced countries, including the U.S., are already using digital textbooks that use augmented reality technology in their classes. In line with this technological outlook, the ministry proposed a design plan that applies augmented reality technology to middle school science 1 digital textbooks. A study on middle school science 1 digital textbooks showed that each unit provided short videos. In addition, an investigation into the augmented reality class case showed that it was difficult to establish experimental equipment, lack of equipment (devices), and 3D design contents that did not continue despite the excellence of learning effects. Based on this demand, we designed an augmented reality scenario and system configuration to be applied to the instrument-specific experiments of middle school science 1 digital textbooks to explore and explore the contents of augmented reality by students. This research will replace the dangerous experiments and time consuming experiments for teachers and students by applying augmented reality to science subjects that are essential for the development of digital textbooks.

  • An experiment was carried out to obtain the fundamental data on the auditory thresholds of fishes for catching method using audible frequency sound, the auditory thresholds of dusky spinefoot Siganus fuscescens(Houttuyn) were measured in the presence of masking noise in the spectrum level range of 74 - 83dB re $1{\mu}Pa/{\sqrt{Hz}}$ by heartbeat conditioning technique using pure tones coupled with a delayed electric shock. The auditory critical ratios were about 23 - 34dB at measurement frequency range. The ratio increased almost linearly with increasing frequency from 200 to 500Hz. The noise spectrum level at the start of masking was about 61 - 73dB within the measurement frequency range. This suggests that hearing of dusky spinefoot is masked in the natural environment with the noise spectrum level above 70dB. The sound pressure level of which the signal sound of 100Hz is recognized by dusky spinefoot under the white noise of 70dB is above 98dB and the critical ratio of them is above 23dB.
