The 2D Finite Element Analysis in Nakdong-Kumho River Junction using GIS (GIS를 이용한 낙동강-금호강 합류부의 2차원 유한요소해석)

  • Usually in flood flow problems, one-dimensional approach does not provide the required details of complex flow phenomena such as the flow in braided rivers and river junction. In this study, two-dimensional finite element mesh is constructed using DEM and GIS tool, and applied to RMA-2model. The purpose of this study is to investigate the applicability of the two dimensional model in natural rivers and to analyze characteristics of river flow due to the change of cross section. For model calibration, the result of unsteady flow analysis was compared with the observed data. Accordingly, the SMS model in this study prove to be very effective and reliable tool for the simulation of hydrodynamic characteristics under the various flow conditions.

The Characteristics of View Landscape in Modern Daegu (근대 대구시의 조망경관 특성분석)

  • This study deals with the characteristics of view landscape in modern Daegu city which were analysed employing geographic information system(GIS). The view landscape analysis was performed by using GIS that enables to overlap land use map with the map of range of visibility, and the 3-D simulation. The results are as follows; First of all, the ratio of forest is enormously high in the range of visibility. The distribution of landscape components allows the dwellers to obtain a clear view towards forests from anywhere. The landscape components include west eroded lowlands, east open rolling lands, east eroded lowlands, and high mountain areas: Apsan(Mt.) in the south; Waryoungsan(Mt.) in the west; and Hamjisan(Mt.) and Hakbong(Mt.) in the north. On the tops of those, people are able to secure a clear vision from the viewpoint towards the surrounding mountains because of the rural areas continuing from the viewpoint to the mountains. A continuous view landscape has been formed by these natural environmental factors. Finally, there are multiple view targets with relatively high altitude that are covered with forests in the space between the urban area and the outer mountains that are higher than the view targets, which provides a scenery of mountains overlapped by higher mountains.

Development of Road Surface Management System using Digital Imagery (수치영상을 이용한 도로 노면관리시스템 개발)

  • In the study digital imagery was used to examine asphalt concrete pavements. With digitally mastered-image information that was filmed with a video camera fixed on a car travelling on road at a consistent speed, a road surface management system that can gain road surface information (Crack, Rutting, IRI) was developed using an object-oriented language "Delphi". This system was designed to improve visualized effects by animations and graphs. After analyzing the accuracy of 3-D coordinates of road surfaces that were decided using multiple image orientation and bundle adjustment method, the average of standard errors turned out to be 0.0427m in the X direction, 0.0527m in the Y direction and 0.1539m in the Z direction. As a result, it was found to be good enough to be put to practical use for maps drawn on scales below 1/1000, which are currently producted and used in our country, and GIS data. According to the analysis of the accuracy in crack width on 12 spots using a digital video camera, the standard error was found to be ${\pm}0.256mm$, which is considered as high precision. In order to get information on rutting, the physically measured cross sections of 4 spots were compared with cross sections generated from digital images. Even though a maximum error turned out to be 10.88mm, its practicality is found in work efficiency.

  • GIS의 역사는 1970년대 컴퓨터의 본격적인 등장 및 급격한 사회환경 변화에 대한 자료 처리도구의 필요성이 대두됨에 따라 전문 GIS산업이 등장하게 되었고 자원, 환경관리 및 공공시설 관리에 주로 활용되었다. 1980년대에는 GIS의 저변확대기로 관계형 데이터베이스 및 워크스테이션이 개발되었고, 1990년대에는 H/W, S/W의 발전과 더불어 저장매체 및 통신기술이 발달하게 되었고 이때 GPS 및 3D GIS가 나타나게 되었고 Internet GIS 및 Mobile GIS 응용프로그램 등장과 더불어 GIS 생활화가 시작되었다. 미국, 영국, 캐나다 등 주요 선진국에서는 GIS 구축을 사회간접자본이라는 개념하에 국가발전 전략사업의 일환으로 추진중에 있으며 1998년 기준으로 40억달러 규모의 GIS 시장이 매년 20%이상 시장확대가 이루어질것으로 예상하고 있다. 이에 우리나라도 1980년대 후반부터 GIS에 대한 정부차원의 관심이 증대하여 국가지리정보시스템 구축에 약5,000억의 예산을 배정하여 진행하고 있다. 이에 발맞추어 21C 전력사업 환경변화에 적극적으로 대처하고 배전설비 관리업무의 혁신을 위하여 신배전정보시스템 사업의 일환인 설비DB 구축을 시행하였으며 현재 운영중에 있다.

Classification of 3D Road Objects Using Machine Learning (머신러닝을 이용한 3차원 도로객체의 분류)

  • Autonomous driving can be limited by only using sensors if the sensor is blocked by sudden changes in surrounding environments or large features such as heavy vehicles. In order to overcome the limitations, the precise road-map has been used additionally. This study was conducted to segment and classify road objects using 3D point cloud data acquired by terrestrial mobile mapping system provided by National Geographic Information Institute. For this study, the original 3D point cloud data were pre-processed and a filtering technique was selected to separate the ground and non-ground points. In addition, the road objects corresponding to the lanes, the street lights, the safety fences were initially segmented, and then the objects were classified using the support vector machine which is a kind of machine learning. For the training data for supervised classification, only the geometric elements and the height information using the eigenvalues extracted from the road objects were used. The overall accuracy of the classification results was 87% and the kappa coefficient was 0.795. It is expected that classification accuracy will be increased if various classification items are added not only geometric elements for classifying road objects in the future.

Development of Scenario-based Levee Breach Simulation Visualization Module for Smart City River Management (스마트시티 하천관리를 위한 시나리오 기반 제방 파제 시뮬레이션 가시화 모듈 개발)

  • 스마트시티 하천관리를 위해 선행된 연구에서는 도시하천관련 데이터를 수집-정제-제공하는 도시하천 통합데이터 플랫폼을 개발하였다. 이에 하천 분석을 위한 유역 유출, 하천 흐름 그리고 도시유출 등의 모듈과 하천 환경, 친수, 종합 평가 모델을 연계하여 도시하천관리 연계플랫폼으로 연구개발을 진행하였다. 본 연구에서는 스마트시티 하천관리를 위한 시나리오 기반 제방 파제 시뮬레이션 분석 결과 가시화 모듈에 관한 연구를 진행한다. 부산 EDC 지역을 대상으로 DEM, 항공영상, 위성영상, 하천 지리 정보, 하천 단면도 등의 데이터를 결합하여 하천 및 유역 전산 3D 형상 모델링을 진행한다. 또한 하천 내부 유량 및 파제 제체 모델링, 유동장 격자 모델링을 통해 제방 붕괴 범람 시뮬레이션 대상 지역을 구현한다. 해당 EDC 지역 구현 모델에 연속방정식, 운동량방정식, 수송방정식 등 지배방정식과 삼상 유동 기법 등 수치 해석 기법을 활용하여 제방 파제 시뮬레이션을 수행한다. 시뮬레이션의 침수범위 및 침수심 분포 결과는 위경도를 포함한 ASCII Grid로 반환되며 GeoServer를 통한 좌표계 설정 및 도시하천 연계플랫폼에서 가시화하는 연구를 진행하였다. 제방 파제 시나리오는 제방 높이 2m, 제방 폭 7.5m, 파제 길이 20m로 설정하여 4개의 붕괴 위치를 지정하였고, 지정된 위치에 대한 제방 파제 3D 시뮬레이션을 통해 도출된 Case 별 2D/3D 영상과 침수심 공간 분포에 대한 Raster Graphics를 전처리하여 시나리오별 침수범위-침수심을 도시하천 연계플랫폼 상에서 가시화하는 연구를 진행하였다. 도시하천 연계플랫폼의 시나리오 기반 제방 파제 시뮬레이션 모듈을 통하여 스마트시티의 제방 파제 피해 양상 및 대책 마련 의사결정 보조로 활용할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

A Prediction of Long-Term Settlement in Large Reclamated Sites Using Laboratory Consolidation Tests and GIS Techniques (실내압밀시험과 GIS 기법을 이용한 대규모 매립지역의 장기침하량 예측)

  • The secondary consolidation settlement of soft clay is generally very little compared to the total settlement and occurs very slowly during long-term period. However the secondary consolidation settlement is comparatively large amount in organic and heavily compressed clay and is a very important engineering factor. In order to reduce residual settlements in reclaimed soft ground, the preloading method is often used. In this study, in order to determine reasonable long-term settlements of large reclaimed site, laboratory incremental loading consolidation tests and surcharging consolidation tests are performed. Sampling was done at Incheon area of west coast and Gwangyang area of south coast in Korea. The characteristics of secondary consolidation have obtained through laboratory tests and analyzed systematically to predict long-term settlements. Additionally, the location data and laboratory test results are correlated by using GIS(geographic information system). The secondary consolidation settlement of the site was predicted based on D/B and the operation technique and estimation technique of space of GIS.

  • Collaboration has become essential in the product design process due to internationalized and specialized business environments. This study presents a real-time collaborative 3D design workspace for distributed designers, focusing on the development and the evaluation of new interaction techniques supporting nonverbal communication such as awareness of participants, shared manipulation and tele-presence. Requirements were identified in terms of shared objects, shared workspaces and awareness through literature reviews and an observational study. An Augmented Reality based collaborative design workspace was developed, in which two main interaction techniques, Turn-table and Virtual Shadow, were incorporated to support shared manipulation and tele-presence. Turn-table provides intuitive shared manipulation of 3D models and physical cues for awareness of remote participants. Virtual shadow supports natural and continuous awareness of location, gestures and pointing of partners. A lab-based evaluation was conducted and the results showed that interaction techniques effectively supported awareness of general pointing and facilitated discussion in 3D model reviews. The workspace and the interaction techniques can facilitate more natural communication and increase the efficiency of collaboration on virtual 3D models between distributed participants (designer-designer, engineer, or modeler) in collaborative design environments.

A study on the Evaluation of Real-Time Map Update Technology for Automated Driving (자율주행 지원을 위한 정밀도로지도 갱신기술 평가를 위한 기준 도출 연구)

  • Recently, a system has been developed and applied to establish and utilize HD maps through R&D. The biggest problem, however, is the lack of a proper HD map update system, which requires the development and adoption of such a system as soon as possible. In addition, in the case of updating HD maps for automated driving, integrity and accuracy of maps are required for safe driving, so an test of these technologies and data quality is required. In April 2018, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport implemented a project to 'Develop Technology to Demonstrate and Share the Instant Road Change Detection and Update Technology for automated driving. This paper analyzed the technology for updating map based on the investigation and analysis of relevant technology trends for the development of integrated demonstration and sharing technology of road change rapid detection and updating map technology, and put forward the criteria for road change rapid detection, integrated quality verification of update technology. It is expected that the results of this study will contribute to quality assurance of HD maps that support safety driving for automated vehicles.

Task Balancing Scheme of MPI Gridding for Large-scale LiDAR Data Interpolation (대용량 LiDAR 데이터 보간을 위한 MPI 격자처리 과정의 작업량 발란싱 기법)

  • In this paper, we propose MPI gridding algorithm of LiDAR data that minimizes the communication between the cores. The LiDAR data collected from aircraft is a 3D spatial information which is used in various applications. Since there are many cases where the LiDAR data has too high resolution than actually required or non-surface information is included in the data, filtering the raw LiDAR data is required. In order to use the filtered data, the interpolation using the data structure to search adjacent locations is conducted to reconstruct the data. Since the processing time of LiDAR data is directly proportional to the size of it, there have been many studies on the high performance parallel processing system using MPI. However, previously proposed methods in parallel approach possess possible performance degradations such as imbalanced data size among cores or communication overhead for resolving boundary condition inconsistency. We conduct empirical experiments to verify the effectiveness of our proposed algorithm. The results show that the total execution time of the proposed method decreased up to 4.2 times than that of the conventional method on heterogeneous clusters.
