Interactive 3D Convergence Contents Authoring Tool Design for Smart Learning (스마트교육을 위한 인터랙티브 3D 융합 콘텐츠 저작도구 설계)

  • There is little study related to the 3D convergence contents authoring tool for teacher. In this study, we purposed the design of the interactive 3D convergence contents authoring tool for a teacher. To draw the design, firstly, we investigated the authoring environment of teachers and interviewed teachers. Based on this investigations, we proposed the functional requirement and UI/UX(User Interface/User Experience) design of it. And we investigated the level of focusing group satisfication with the UI/UX design. Based on these results, we will implement the authoring tool.

  • 본 논문에서는 비디오에서의 특징점 추적을 통해 얻은 2D 좌표를 이용한 3D 구조를 추정하는 방법과 네 점 이상의 공통점을 이용한 융합 방법을 제안한다. 영상의 각 프레임에서 공통되는 특징점을 이용하여 형상을 추정한다. 영상의 각 프레임에 대한 특징점의 추적은 Lucas-Kanade 방법을 사용하였다. 3D 좌표 추정 방법으로 개선된 직교분해기법을 사용하였다. 개선된 직교분해기법에서는 3D 좌표를 복원함과 동시에 카메라의 위치와 방향을 계산할 수 있다. 복원된 부분 데이터들은 전체를 이루는 일부분이므로, 융합을 통해 완성된 모습을 만들 수 있다. 복원된 부분 데이터들의 서로 다른 좌표계를 기준 좌표계로 변환함으로써 융합할 수 있다. 융합은 카메라의 모션에 해당하는 카메라의 위치와 방향에 의존된다. 융합 과정은 모두 선형으로 평균 0.5초 이하의 수행 속도를 보이며 융합의 오차는 평균 0.1cm 이하의 오차를 보였다.

Effective Multi-Modal Feature Fusion for 3D Semantic Segmentation with Multi-View Images (멀티-뷰 영상들을 활용하는 3차원 의미적 분할을 위한 효과적인 멀티-모달 특징 융합)

  • 3D point cloud semantic segmentation is a computer vision task that involves dividing the point cloud into different objects and regions by predicting the class label of each point. Existing 3D semantic segmentation models have some limitations in performing sufficient fusion of multi-modal features while ensuring both characteristics of 2D visual features extracted from RGB images and 3D geometric features extracted from point cloud. Therefore, in this paper, we propose MMCA-Net, a novel 3D semantic segmentation model using 2D-3D multi-modal features. The proposed model effectively fuses two heterogeneous 2D visual features and 3D geometric features by using an intermediate fusion strategy and a multi-modal cross attention-based fusion operation. Also, the proposed model extracts context-rich 3D geometric features from input point cloud consisting of irregularly distributed points by adopting PTv2 as 3D geometric encoder. In this paper, we conducted both quantitative and qualitative experiments with the benchmark dataset, ScanNetv2 in order to analyze the performance of the proposed model. In terms of the metric mIoU, the proposed model showed a 9.2% performance improvement over the PTv2 model using only 3D geometric features, and a 12.12% performance improvement over the MVPNet model using 2D-3D multi-modal features. As a result, we proved the effectiveness and usefulness of the proposed model.

Development of an Authoring Tool to Create Interactive 3D Convergence Contents for Smart Learning (스마트교육을 위한 인터랙티브 3D 융합콘텐츠 저작도구 개발)

  • In the smart education era, it is crucial for the teacher to make lecture materials in the form of 3D convergence contents for themselves. In this study, we developed an interactive authoring tool to create 3D convergence contents for the teacher. The proposed system was implemented based on a commercial 3D engine for practicality. To evaluate the usability of the tool, we conducted a satisfaction survey of a focus group. As a result, we concluded that the proposed authoring tool was useful to create desired contents but rather complicated to use due to the text-based script editor. In the following research we will improve the editor so that it can be used in a more intuitive manner.

  • 3D printers, which emerged in the late 20th century, have become a key part of the fourth industrial revolution in the 21st century. Although 3D printers, the key equipment of the maker movement and the starting point of the new cottage industry in the 21st century, still reveal the limitations of mass production with low output speed and limited filament materials, the use of 3D printers by ceramic craftsmen has recently increased exponentially. However, as part of a way to overcome the discord between craftsmanship and the new technology, which has been repeated over and over in the past in craft history, the study focused on the 'plaster mold casting' technique using 3D printers. Therefore, after analyzing casting techniques of Tony Hansen, Webe van Gansbeck, Jade Crompton, and Ryu Hee-do, the potters who actively developed gypsum techniques in the world's ceramic crafts field and applied them to their own designs, I tried to find the point of convergence between 3D printers and ceramic crafts by presenting examples of effective 3D modeling methods and optimal slip casting methods using 3D printers.

Understanding and the Orientation of the Standardization Policy in the Field of R&D Convergence (융합 R&D 부문의 표준정책 이해 및 정책 방향성 고찰)

  • This study examines how scientists understand standardization and standardization policy in the Korean national R&D context and analyze future policy direction of standardization policy. Interview with 15 scientists at universities and government-funded research institutes who have participated national R&D (particularly in the field of technology convergence) were conducted. The results show that considerations of standardization at the process of technology convergence is somewhat different from them at the process of general R&D. Also, considerations of standardization at the process of technology convergence is needed at the later time within the R&D time schedule because of low visibility and forecasting on the technology convergence outcome. It finds that "standardization by private sector" is the future policy direction in Korea. The government needs to be remained as "helper" for private sector to lead standardization in a globalized market

A Study on Fixed/Mobile Hybrid 3DTV Broadcasting Service Scenario based on ATSC3.0 (ATSC3.0 기반 고정/이동방송 융합형 3DTV 서비스 시나리오에 관한 연구)

  • 본 논문에서는 ATSC3.0 기반 UHD 급 고정/이동방송 융합형 3DTV 서비스 시나리오에 대한 내용을 기술한다. ATSC3.0 은 북미지상파 표준화 방송방식의 차세대 지상파서비스 표준으로 2016 년 까지 기술표준 논의완료를 목표로 물리계층, 전송프로토콜계층 및 4K-UHD 서비스를 포함한 응용서비스계층으로 분류하여 표준화 논의 중에 있다. 본 논문에서는 스테레오 스코픽 콘텐츠의 좌/우영상을 각각 고정 TV 채널 및 모바일 TV 채널로 나누어 전송하고 이를 융합형 3DTV 방식을 지원하는 수신기에서 동시에 좌/우영상 신호를 수신하여 3D 영상을 합성하는 방법으로 지상파 DTV 한 채널(6MHz 대역)내에서의 4K-UHD 고정 TV 서비스, 모바일 HD 서비스 및 UHD 3D 서비스를 동시에 제공할 수 있는 고정/이동방송 융합형 3DTV 서비스 방법을 제시한다. 따라서 본 논문에서 제안하는 융합형 3DTV 서비스는 추가적인 3D 부가정보를 전송하지 않고 4K-UHD, 모바일 HD 및 UHD 3D 서비스를 시청자에게 제공 가능하다.

Development of a Digital Textbook on 'Structure and Contraction Mechanism of Skeletal Muscle' with the Learning Model for Biomimicry-Based Convergence (생체모방 기반 융합 학습 모델을 적용한 '골격근의 구조와 수축'에 대한 디지털 교재 개발)

  • The purpose of this study was to develop a digital textbook on 'structure and contraction mechanism of skeletal muscle' with the learning model for biomimicry-based convergence. The unit of 'structure and contraction mechanism of skeletal muscle' is a part of Life Science I in high school. The convergence learning model was designed with three phases of biomimicry-based convergence (Exploration-Design-Implementation) including 3D modeling & printing. The developed digital textbook was composed of 8 sessions which contains the following learning contents : Exploration of skeletal muscle, creative designing of skeletal muscle using sketch application and 3D modeling, convergent implementing of the designed using 3D printing, exploration of muscle contraction, creative designing of muscle contraction using sketch application and 3D modeling, and convergent implementing of the designed using 3D printing. Each session is also involved in the contents of gallery widgets, media widgets, keynote widgets, sketch widgets, the cloud, polling widgets, and review widgets for interactive and mobile learning. After administering the developed digital textbook to 20 high school students, it was shown a positive effectiveness on life science learning for high school students. Moreover, the digital textbook was evaluated as to promote student's abilities on creative designs and implementation related to biomimicry-based convergence. The digital textbook was also shown a favorable response on students' interest and self-directed learning on life science.

Design of ToF-Stereo Fusion Sensor System for 3D Spatial Scanning (3차원 공간 스캔을 위한 ToF-Stereo 융합 센서 시스템 설계)

  • In this paper, we propose a ToF-Stereo fusion sensor system for 3D space scanning that increases the recognition rate of 3D objects, guarantees object detection quality, and is robust to the environment. The ToF-Stereo sensor fusion system uses a method of fusing the sensing values of the ToF sensor and the Stereo RGB sensor, and even if one sensor does not operate, the other sensor can be used to continuously detect an object. Since the quality of the ToF sensor and the Stereo RGB sensor varies depending on the sensing distance, sensing resolution, light reflectivity, and illuminance, a module that can adjust the function of the sensor based on reliability estimation is placed. The ToF-Stereo sensor fusion system combines the sensing values of the ToF sensor and the Stereo RGB sensor, estimates the reliability, and adjusts the function of the sensor according to the reliability to fuse the two sensing values, thereby improving the quality of the 3D space scan.

  • 현 3D 실험방송은 좌 영상과 우 영상의 듀얼 스트림을 전송하는 서비스 호환 3D서비스를 제공하고 있다. 이와 같은 방식은 지상파를 이용해 전송되므로 제한된 대역폭에 따른 화질의 저하가 불가피한 것으로 여겨진다. 이에 본 논문에서는 상기 두 영상을 각각 기존의 지상파와 IP망으로 전송하여 화질의 열화 없이 안정적인 화질을 제공할 수 있는 MMT와 MPEG2-TS 융합형 Hybrid 3D 방송 시스템을 제안하였다. 제안한 시스템은 기존의 지상파를 통해 주영상을 MMT의 GFD mode를 이용하여 보조영상을 전송하여 두 영상의 동기화를 통해 고화질 스테레오스코픽 영상을 구성한다. 이를 위해 본 논문에서는 MPEG2-TS와 MMT의 GFD mode의 파일 구성을 각각 분석하고, 실험결과를 통해 제안한 MMT와 MPEG2-TS 융합형 Hybrid 3D 방송 시스템을 검증하였다.
