Electron Temperature, Plasma Density and Luminous Efficiency in accordance with Discharge Time in coplanar AC PDPs

  • Electron temperature and plasma density in coplanar alternating-current plasma display panels (AC-PDP's) have been experimentally investigated in accordance with discharge time by a micro-probe in this experiment. The resolution of a step mortor to move in micro-Langmuir probe is 10um.[1-3] The used gas in this experiment is He-Ne-Xe (4%) mixure gas. And sustain voltage is 320V which is above of firing voltage for degradation. The electron temperature and plasma density can be obtained from current-voltage (I-V) characteristics of micro Langmuir probe, in which negative to positive bias voltage was applied to the probe. And Efficiency is calculated by formula related discharge power and light emission. Those experiments operated as various discharge time ($0{\sim}72$ Hours). As a result of this experiment, Electron Temperature was increased from 2eV to 5eV after discharge running time of 20 hours and saturates beyond 20 hours. The plasma density is inversely proportional to the square root of electron temperature. So the plasma density was decreased from $1.8{\times}10^{12}cm^{-3}$ to $8{\times}10^{11}cm^{-3}$ at above discharge running time. And the Efficiency was reduced to 70% at 60hours of discharge running time.

  • Space planning is one of the popular applications of VR technology including interior design, architecture design, and factory layout. In order to provide easier methods to accommodate physical objects into virtual space planning task, we suggest applying mixed reality (MR) interface. We describe our hardware and software of our MR system designed according to requirements of the application domain. In brief, our system hardware consists of a video see-through display with a touch screen interface, mounted on a mobile platform, and we use screen space 3D manipulations to arrange virtual objects within the MR scene. Investigating the interface with our prototype implementation, we are convinced that our system will help users to design spaces in more easy and effective way.

  • 최근 다양한 분야(건축, 디자인, 영화관)에서 활용되는 디스플레이 기술들은 대체로 평면에 투영하는 프로젝션 기술을 사용하고 있다. 예외적으로 평면이 아닌 곡면에 투영하는 경우도 있었으나, 기술적인 제약으로 왜곡된 영상을 보정하여 사용하는 경우는 드문 상태이다. 그리고 상호작용의 경우는 기계적 장치에 의존한 초보적 형태가 주류를 이루고 있다. 본 논문에서는 프로젝션 기술 중에서 원통형 곡면상으로의 투영 기법과 모션인식을 반영한 상호작용 기법에 대해서 논하고자 한다. 3D 영상을 곡면에 왜곡 없이 투영하기 위하여, 본 논문에서는 '2-pass 렌더링' 기법을 이용하였다. 이 기법에서는 현재 렌더링 된 영상을 텍스쳐로 저장한 다음 원통형 물체에 매핑시켜 곡면에 적합한 영상으로 보정한다. 그리고 기계적 장치에 의존하지 않는 상호작용을 위해, 카메라를 통하여 실시간으로 사용자 정보(위치, 방향 값)를 입력 받아 원통형 스크린과 매칭되는 좌표 값을 계산한다. 위와 같은 기법들을 구현하기 위한 실험으로 미디어 아트 작품을 제작하였으며, 투영과 상호작용에 관한 알고리즘을 작품에 적용하였다. 이 작품은 하나의 프로젝터를 사용하여 1/4 원통형 곡면으로의 투영과 상호작용을 수행하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 미디어 아트 작품의 프로젝션 모듈로 사용 될 수 있으며, 공연장 건축, 실내디자인, 체감형 인터랙티브 게임, 가상현실 영화관 등 다양한 분야에 적용 될 수 있다.

  • 지난 8년간 세계 태양광 시장은 연평균 40% 이상 성장하여 2006년 200억 불 규모로 초고속성장을 지속하고 있으며 2010년 1,300억 불, 2012년에는 2,000억 불에 이를 것으로 전망되며, 2015년에는 메모리반도체 시장규모를 추월할 것으로 예상된다. 국내 태양광 산업은2004년 이후 적극적인 기술개발 및 보급정책의 결과 2008년 현재 산업 기반이 조성되었으며 수출산업으로 전환단계에 있다. 태양광 분야는 반도체/디스플레이 시장과 같이 기술력과 자금력을 보유한 소수의 기업이 이익을 독점하는 구조로서 2007년 상위 5개국이 전체 생산량의 85%를 차지하는 실정이다. 이것은 우리가 조기에 기술 및 규모를 확보하지 못할 경우 추후 경쟁에서 매우 불리함을 인식하고 실리콘 소재 기술력의 국산화 및 박막형 태양전지의 양산화 조성 등 세부기술의 분류를 나열하고 2-3년 이내에 상용화 가능한 요소기술, 4-5년 이내에 양산구동력을 구축할 수 있는 핵심기술, 10년 이내에 글로벌경쟁력을 갖출 수 있는 원천기술력을 발굴하고 정부-기업-연구소(대학)가 공동의 지원책을 강구하여 융합된 미래 글로벌 기술력을 확보한 신성장 동력원으로 가치창출 요소를 발굴할 필요성이 있다.

  • Recently, digital signage is various changes and converging media. It is common to exhibit and guide focusing on information transfer by using the display. Such a method can not express variously changing digital signage. Therefore, we have to find a way to solve the problem of place and structure. In this paper, we experimented the new direction technique. Finally, we are going to propose acoustic direction technique using a microphone to maximize digital signage and intention of delivery by adding an sound reinforcement method to the visual representation.

  • To improve the strength of glass is being studied in order to contribute to weight saving of flat panel displays. Generally, the strength achieved of glass-ceramics is higher as is the fracture toughness by the formation of a heterogeneous Phase inside glass. In this study, Ag-doped $45SiO_2-24CaO-24Na_2O-4P_2O_5$ glasses were irradiated to strengthen by crystallization using femto-second laser pulse. UV/VIS, Spectroscope, XRD, nano-indenter and SEM etc. irradiation of laser pulse without heat-treated samples was analyzed. Samples irradiated by laser had higher value$(4.4\~4.56{\ast}10-3Pa)$ of elastic modulus which related with strength of glass than values heat-treated samples and these are $1.2\~1.5$ times higher values than them of mother glass. This process can be applicable to the strengthening of thinner glass plate, and it has an advantage over traditional heat-treatment and ion-exchange method.

  • This paper describes a full color stereoscopic video display system using a LCD shutter. Human apprehends the world with a natural stereo vision. The left eye sees through a slightly different perspective from the right eye; proposed vision system combines two images into a single image that has stereo depth. That is, when the left image is on the screen, the left shutter opens and the right shutter closes - and vice versa. The LCD shutter channels the left image to the left eye, and the right image to the right eye. The brain then fuses the stereo pair into a single high-resolution, flicker-free 3D image. The designed vision system is a real-time system that shows stereoscopic images without the loss of image information from video cameras.

  • Liquid crystal displays (LCD's) are continuously coated with some chemicals in the clean room of a factory. Spreading of these chemicals is causing serious problems both in controlling clean room quality as well as to the workers inside the factory. It is required to alleviate or properly control the offensive odor which is mainly composed of propylene glycol mono ethyl acetate, novolak resin and photo active compound. The control strategy employed is to bleed the offensive odor gas out the clean room. A full scale 3D CFD model was created with anisotropic porous media, chemical species transport with no volumetric reaction, and thermal diffusion with propane gas (tracer gas) to simulate the odor spreading. A segregated implicit solver with standard k-$\varepsilon$ model is employed. The detailed CFD analysis made it possible to develop an effective method of ventilating the coater room and optimizing their capacities.

A New Rectification Scheme for Uncalibrated Stereo Image Pairs and Its Application to Intermediate View Reconstruction

  • In this paper, a new rectification scheme to transform the uncalibrated stereo image pair into the calibrated one is suggested and its performance is analyzed by applying this scheme to the reconstruction of the intermediate views for multi-view stereoscopic display. In the proposed method, feature points are extracted from the stereo image pair by detecting the comers and similarities between each pixel of the stereo image pair. These detected feature points, are then used to extract moving vectors between the stereo image pair and the epipolar line. Finally, the input stereo image pair is rectified by matching the extracted epipolar line between the stereo image pair in the horizontal direction. Based on some experiments done on the synthesis of the intermediate views by using the calibrated stereo image pairs through the proposed rectification algorithm and the uncalibrated ones for three kinds of stereo image pairs; 'Man', 'Face' and 'Car', it is found that PSNRs of the intermediate views reconstructed from the calibrated images improved by about 2.5${\sim}$3.26 dB than those of the uncalibrated ones.

Development of a Gas Assisted Injection Molding Process for Exterior Display Panels (디스플레이용 외장패널의 가스사출공정 개발)

  • Gas Assisted Injection Molding is a relatively new low-pressure injection molding technique that provides benefits such as reduced part warpage, excellent surface quality without shrink marks, greater design flexibility, etc. In the gas assisted injection molding process, the injected pressurized nitrogen gas flows through designed gas channels and forms hollow sections within the part. However, due to the characteristics of the gas, the design of the gas channels which are the paths for the injected gas is important in order to avoid defects such as gas blowout, fingering, etc. Therefore, in this study, the gas channel design for gas assisted injection molding of exterior display panels was conducted by examining the results of three CAE analyses. The designed gas channel was verified by conducting tryouts using a 450 ton injection molding machine with 3-stage pressure controlled gas kit. In addition, the hollow shapes which were formed by the gas with the installed gas channels were examined by examining the cross sections of the prototypes that were produced. As a result, it was found that exterior display panels can be produced without any defect by applying the gas assisted injection molding technique.
