A shield connector is an automotive electrical component that is used to connect electrical wiring in a vehicle. This part is made by progressive pressing using a phosphor bronze material with high electrical conductivity. The shape of the product is not complicated, but plastic forming techniques are required, such as deep drawing and bending, as well as shearing techniques such as piercing and notching. The finite element method was used to model the process. The strip layout design stage of the progressive die makes it possible to examine the thickness change, the stability of the forming process, and the spring-back. As a result of this analysis, it is possible to predict the correction values for the tendency of cracks, wrinkles, and incomplete plastic deformation, and to identify possible problems in advance. As a countermeasure against the forming error caused by the drawing process analysis, the drawing shape was modified and applied in the process design. For effective material utilization, a 3D strip layout was designed using an optimized blank shape based on nesting. The results improve the crack stability and spring-back of shield connector products produced through progressive pressing.

The virtual patient dataset is a collection of diagnostic data from various sources acquired from a single patient into a coordinate system of three-dimensional visualization. Virtual patient dataset makes it possible to establish a treatment plan, simulate various treatment procedures, and create a treatment planning delivery device. Clinicians can design and simulate a patient's smile on the virtual patient dataset and select the optimal result from the diagnostic process. The selected treatment plan can be delivered identically to the patient using manufacturing techniques such as 3D printing, milling, and injection molding. The delivery of this treatment plan can be linked to the final prosthesis through mockup confirmation through provisional restoration fabrication and delivery in the patient's mouth. In this way, if the diagnostic data superimposition and processing accuracy during the manufacturing process are guaranteed, 3D digital smile design simulated in 3D visualization can be accurately delivered to the real patient. As a clinical application method of the virtual patient dataset, we suggest a decision-making method that can exclude occlusal adjustment treatment from the treatment plan through the digital occlusal pressure analysis. A comparative analysis of whole-body scans before and after temporomandibular joint treatment was suggested for adolescent idiopathic scoliosis patients with temporomandibular joint disease. Occlusal plane and smile aesthetic analysis based on the virtual patient dataset was presented when treating patients with complete dentures.
Micro lens array(MLA) is widely used in information technology(IT) industry fields for various applications such as a projection display, an optical power regulator, a micro mass spectrometer and for medical appliances. Recently, MLA have been fabricated and developed by using a reflow method having the processes of micro etching, electroplating, micro machining and laser local heating. Laser thermal relaxation method is introduced in marking of microdots on the surface of densified glass. In this paper, we have proposed a new direct fabrication process using UV laser local thermal-expansion(UV-LLTE) and investigated the optimal processing conditions of MLA on the surface of negative photo-resist material. We have also studied the 3D shape of the micro lens obtained by UV laser irradiation and the optimal process conditions. And then, we made chrome mold by electroplating. After that, we made MLA using chrome mold by hot embossing processing. Finally, we have measured the opto-physical properties of micro lens and then have also tested the possibility of MLA applications.

AAO(Anodic Aluminum Oxidation) method has been known that it is practically useful for the fabrication of nano-structures and makes it possible to fabricate the highly ordered nano masters on large surface and even on the 2.5 or 3D surface at low cost comparing to the expensive e-beam lithography or the conventional silicon processing. In this study, by using the multi-step anodizing and etching processes, highly ordered nano patterned master with concave shapes was fabricated. By varying the processing parameters, such as initial matter and chemical conditions; electrical and thermal conditions; time scheduling; and so on, the size and the pitch of the nano pattern can be controlled. Consequently, various alumina/aluminum nano structures can be easily available in any size and shape by optimized anodic oxidation in various aqueous acids. In order to replicate nano patterned master, the resulting good filled uniform nano molded structure through electro-forming process shows the validity of the fabricated nano pattern masters.

A manufacturing technology of carbon fiber composites with thermoplastic polymer pellets and continuous woven fiber was investigated using a compression molding process. To secure the impregnation of resin into the porosity of fabric the composite specimens were prepared with general injection-molding grade polypropylene pellets and low viscosity polycarbonate pellets. Tensile tests of polypropylene and polycarbonate composites were performed. Polycarbonate composites showed higher fracture strength than that of polypropylene composites because of the difference of matrix properties. However, the increase rate of strength was lower than that of polypropylene composites due to the difference of coherence between matrix and reinforcement. To investigate the effect of carbon fiber volume fraction on the fracture strength variation polypropylene composites with different volume fraction were compression molded and tensile tests were performed together. It was shown that the fracture strength of the polypropylene composites increased by 3.2, 5.4 and 6.9 times with the increase of carbon fabric volume fraction of 0.256, 0.367, and 0.480, respectively.

With the exception of welding activities, it is forbidden to use electricity in shipyards, owing to safety concerns such as the possibility of fire, explosions, and short circuits. In this paper, an automatic chamfering machine using pneumatics is proposed for use in such environments. Customers specify their requirements and the machine derives the corresponding theoretical design conditions. The proposed machine was used to perform 3D modeling, and its suitability and performance were confirmed via cutting experiments of the manufactured device. Two types of sensors may be used in this system: contact and non-contact. In the case of the contact type, an end-stop switch that can recognize the end of the material is installed, and when the machine reaches the end of the material, the end-stop switch is operated to cut off the air pressure. In the non-contact type, four sensors were used: photonic, ultrasonic, metal detection, and encoder. The use of the four sensors was repeated 30 times, and the average error determined. Thus, the optimum sensor was identified.

We present a novel method for 3D microfabrication with LIGA process that utilizes a deep X-ray mask in which a micro-actuator is integrated. The integrated micro-actuator oscillates the X-ray absorber, which is formed on the shuttle mass of the micro-actuator, during X-ray exposures to modify the absorbed dose profile in X-ray resist, typically PMMA. 3D PMMA microstructures according to the modulated dose contour are revealed after GG development. An X-ray mask with integrated comb drive actuator is fabricated using deep reactive ion etching, absorber electroplating, and bulk micromachining with silicon-on-insulator (SOI) wafer. 1mm $\times$ 1 mm, 20 $\mu$m thick silicon shuttle mass as a mask blank is supported by four 1 mm long suspension beams and is driven by the comb electrodes. A 10 $\mu$m thick, 50 $\mu$m line and spaced gold absorber pattern is electroplated on the shuttle mass before the release step. The fundamental frequency and amplitude are around 3.6 kHz and 20 $\mu$m, respectively, for a do bias of 100 V and an ac bias of 20 $V_{p-p}$ (peak-peak). Fabricated PMMA microstructure shows 15.4 $\mu$m deep, S-shaped cross section in the case of 1.6 kJ $cm^{-3}$ surface dose and GG development at 35$^{\circ}C$ for 40 minutes.
