Purpose. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the currently published literatures investigating the accuracy of computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing removable partial denture (CAD-CAM RPD) framework with different manufacturing techniques and methods. Materials and methods. A comprehensive search for literatures was conducted in PubMed database using specific keywords with the patient, intervention, comparison, and outcome (PICO) question, "Is there a difference in accuracy of RPD frameworks manufactured using digital workflow according to the manufacturing process and methods?" Results. A total of 7 articles were selected. Two studies compared intraoral scanning and laboratory scanning for RPD frameworks and had heterogenous results. In the studies using different manufacturing process, RPD frameworks had clinically acceptable accuracy in both subtractive and additive manufacturing. Polyetheretherketone (PEEK)-milled RPD frameworks showed higher fit accuracy than traditionally casted or 3D printed RPDs. Direct milling method showed a higher accuracy than indirect milling method. However, in rapid prototyping, indirect method showed higher accuracy than direct method. Conclusion. The RPD frameworks fabricated using CAD-CAM technology showed a clinically acceptable level of accuracy regardless of manufacturing process or techniques. Consistent results have not been reported regarding the digital impression methods, which were intra oral scanning or laboratory scanning, and further studies are needed.

In this study, in order to improve the durability of the cement composite printed with the ME type 3D printer, PDMS, sodium silicate, and a surface hardener were employed. Post-treatment was performed on 3D-printed cement composite by coating after immersion, and the degree of improvement in durability was evaluated. As a result, in all evaluations, the durability performances of the post-processed specimens were improved compared to those of the plain specimens. Water absorption resistance, chloride penetration resistance, and carbonation resistance of the PDMS treated specimens were improved by 36.3 %, 77.1 %, and 50.4 % when compared to plain specimens. Freeze-thaw resistance of the specimens treated with sodium silicate was found to be the most excellent, with an average enhancement of 47.5% compared to plain specimens. It was found that PDMS was the most efficient post-treatment materials for 3D-printed cement composite. However, as suggested in this study, the post-treatment method by coating after immersion may not be applicable to cement composite structures printed with a 3D printer in field. Therefore, a follow-up study needs to be preformed on the durability enhancing materials suitable for 3D printing.

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to evaluate the image acquisition ability of intraoral scanners by analyzing the comprehensiveness of scanned images from standardized model, and to identify problems of the model. Materials and Methods: Cast models and 3D-printed models were prepared according to international standards set by ISO12836 and ANSI/ADA no. 132, which were then scanned by model scanner and two different intraoral scanners (TRIOS3 and CS3500). The image acquisition performance of the scanners was classified into three grades, and the study was repeated with varying surface conditions of the models. Results: Model scanner produced the most accurate images in all models. Meanwhile, CS3500 showed good image reproducibility for angled structures and TRIOS3 showed good image reproducibility for rounded structures. As for model ingredients, improved plaster model best reproduced scan images regardless of the type of scanner used. When limited to 3D-printed model, powdered surface condition resulted in higher image quality. Conclusion: When scanning structures beyond FOV (field of view) in standardized models (following ISO12836 and ANSI/ADA 132), lack of reference points to help distinguish different faces confuses the scanning and matching process, resulting in inaccurate display of images. These results imply the need to develop a new standard model not confined to simple pattern repetition and symmetric structure.
The elderly population in the modern society is growing rapidly due to advance medical technology and minimally invasive surgery. Therefore, as the tendency to use medical device is increasing, pathogenic infection is a concern. Therefore, the first aim of modern medicine is infection prevention in medical place. Recently, patient implants are increasing using 3D printing. Hydroxyapatite is used as a representative material. And, there haven't had currently absorbed dose standard for sterilization of hydroxyapatite discs. Escherichia coli and Streptococcus mutans contaminated on the surface of hydroxyapatite discs were irradiated at each absorbed dose of 0, 0.5, 1.0, 3.0, 5.0 kGy using Gamma-ray of cobalt and Electron-beam of linear accelerator. Then, the number of bacteria was measured in the sample by the decimal dilution method. After sterilization, a non-parametric testing method was performed to compare the survival of Escherichia coli and Streptococcus mutans. As a result, Escherichia coli was sterilized at 1 kGy or more and Streptococcus mutans at 3 kGy or more on absorbed dose. It is considered possible to perform sterilization at a lower value than the recommended absorbed dose of radiation sterilization.

Recently, the destructive power of typhoons is continuously increasing owing to global warming. In a situation where the installation of floating wind turbines is increasing worldwide, concerns about the huge loss and collapse of floating offshore wind turbines owing to strong typhoons are deepening. A new type of disconnectable mooring system must be developed for the safe operation of floating offshore wind turbines. A new submersible mooring pulley considered in this study is devised to more easily attach or detach the floating of shore wind turbine with mooring lines compared with other disconnectable mooring apparatuses. To investigate the structural safety of the initial design of submersible mooring pulley that can be applied to an 8MW-class floating type offshore wind turbine, scale-down structural models were developed using a 3-D printer and structural tests were performed on the models. For the structural tests of the scale-down models, tensile specimens of acrylonitrile butadiene styrene material that was used in the 3-D printing were prepared, and the material properties were evaluated by conducting the tensile tests. The finite element analysis (FEA) of submersible mooring pulley was performed by applying the material properties obtained from the tensile tests and the same load and boundary conditions as in the scale-down model structural tests. Through the FEA, the structural weak parts on the submersible mooring pulley were reviewed. The structural model tests were conducted considering the main load conditions of submersible mooring pulley, and the FEA and test results were compared for the locations that exceeded the maximum tensile stress of the material. The results of the FEA and structural model tests indicated that the connection structure of the body and the wheel was weak in operating conditions and that of the body and the chain stopper was weak in mooring conditions. The results of this study enabled to experimentally verify the structural safety of the initial design of submersible mooring pulley. The study results can be usefully used to improve the structural strength of submersible mooring pulley in a detailed design stage.
Since radiation therapy is irradiated with high-energy X-rays in a variety of at least 20 Gy to 80 Gy, a high dose is administered to the local area where the tumor is located, and various side effects of some normal tissues are expected. Currently, in clinical practice, lead, a representative material, is used as an effort to shield normal tissues, but lead is classified as a heavy metal harmful to the human body, and a large amount of skin contact can cause poisoning. Therefore, this study intends to manufacture a measurement sheet that can compensate for the limitations of lead using the materials Tungsten, Brass, and Copper of the 3D printer of the FDM (Fused Deposition Modeling) method and to investigate the penetration performance. Tungsten mixed filament transmission measurement sheet size was 70 × 70 mm and thickness 1, 2, 4 mm using a 3D printer, and a linear accelerator (TrueBeam STx, S/N: 1187) was measured by irradiating 100 MU at SSD 100 cm and 5 cm in water using a water phantom, an ion chamber (FC-65G), and an elcetrometer (PTW UNIDOSE), and the permeability was evaluated. As a result of increasing the measurement sheet of each material by 1 mm, in the case of Tungsten sheet at 3.8 to 3.9 cm in 6 MV, the thickness of the lead shielding body was thinner than 6.5 cm, and in case of Tungsten sheet at 4.5 to 4.6 cm in 15 MV. The sheet was thinner than the existing lead shielding body thickness of 7 cm, and equivalent performance was confirmed. Through this study, the transmittance measurement sheet produced using Tungsten alloy filaments confirmed the possibility of transmission shielding in the high energy region. It has been confirmed that the usability as a substitute is also excellent. It is thought that it can be provided as basic data for the production of shielding agents with 3D printing technology in the future.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to assess the marginal and internal fit of interim crowns fabricated by two different manufacturing method (subtractive manufacturing technology and additive manufacturing technology). Materials and Methods: Forty study models were fabricated with plasters by making an impression of a master model of the maxillary right first molar for ceramic crown. On each study model, interim crowns (n = 40) were fabricated using three types of 3D printers (Meg-printer 2; Megagen, Zenith U; Dentis, and Zenith D; Dentis) and one type milling machine (imes-icore 450i; imes-icore GmbH). The internal of the interim crowns were filled with silicon and fitted to the study model. Internal scan data was obtained using an intraoral scanner. The fit of interim crowns were evaluated in the margin, absolute margin, axial, cusp, and occlusal area by using the superimposition of 3D scan data (Geomagic control X; 3D Systems). The Kruskal-wallis test, Mann-Whitney U test and Bonferroni correction method were used to compare the results among groups (α = 0.05). Results: There was no significant difference in the absolute marginal discrepancy of the temporary crown manufactured by three 3D printers and one milling machine (P = 0.812). There was a significant difference between the milling machine and the 3D printer in the axial and occlusal area (P < 0.001). The temporary crown with the milling machine showed smaller axial gap and higher occlusal gap than 3D printer. Conclusion: Since the marginal fit of the temporary crown produced by three types of 3D printers were all with in clinically acceptable range (< 120 ㎛), it can be sufficiently used for the fabrication of the temporary crown.

In this study, the lamination performance and strength characteristics of cement-based composite materials according to the laminated specimens manufacturing method were analyzed. As a result of evaluating the buildability according to the layer height, the highest dimensional stability was shown when the layer height was 10 mm in all parts. The mold casting specimen and the printing-Z specimen showed the same compressive strength performance at the age of 28 days. On the other hand, the compressive strength at 28 day of printing-X specimen was the lowest at 71.72 MPa, and 8% lower than that of the mold casting specimen and the printing-Z specimen. The split tensile strength of the laminated specimen may show similar performance to that of the mold casting specimen, but the strength performance may decrease by more than 10% depending on the direction of the layer and the number of layers in the specimen. As a result of the interface analysis of the laminated specimen through X-ray CT analysis, it was confirmed that pores of a certain size were distributed along the interface of the layer.
LaAlO3d single phase used as the butter layer on Si wafer for YBa2Cu3O7-$\delta$ superconductor application were prepared by solid state reaction method and by self-sustaining combustion process. The microstructure and crystallity of synthesiszed LaAlO3 powder studied using scanning electron microscope (SEM) and X-ray diffractometer(XRD), specific surface area and sintering characteristics fo powder were investigated by Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) method and dilatometer respectively. In solid state reaction method, it is difficult to obtain LaAlO3 single phase up to 150$0^{\circ}C$ period. However, in self-sustaining combustion process, it is to easy to do it only $650^{\circ}C$. Based on the results of analysis of dilatometer it is easier to obtain high sintering density (98.87%) in self-sustaining combustion process than in the solid state reaction method. This reason is that the average particle size prepared by self-sustaining combustion process is nano crystal size and has high specific surface are value(56.54 $m^2$/g) compared with that by solid state reaction method. Also, LaAlO3 layer on the Si wafer has been achieved by screen printing and sintering method. Even though the sintering temperature is 130$0^{\circ}C$, the phenomena of silicon out diffusion in LaAlO3/Si interphase are not observed.

The aim of this study was to compare the mechanical properties of high viscosity bulk-fill resin composites, $Filtek^{TM}$ Bulk Fill Posterior Restorative (FBF) and $Tetric^{(R)}$ N-Ceram Bulk Fill (TBF), with conventional composite ($Filtek^{TM}$ Z-350 XT, Z-350). The Vickers hardness test which indicates the degree of conversion was performed and the dye penetration test was performed to measure the microleakage which indicates polymerization shrinkage amount. To minimize experimental error, the standardized 3D-printed molds and the bovine teeth were used. Obtained data were analyzed by the Kruskal-Wallis test and Mann-Whitney test with the confidence interval of 95%. In the microhardness test within 1 hour of polymerization, lower surface of FBF and TBF showed significantly lower value than that of Z-350 (p < 0.05). But after 24 hours, the microhardness of FBF had increased and showed no significant difference with Z-350 (p > 0.05). In top and 2 mm depth surface, mean microhardness values were in the following order: Z-350 > FBF > TBF (p < 0.05). The mean microleakage value of TBF was significantly lower than others (p < 0.05). For clinical application of bulk-fill resin composites, caution for applying masticatory forces during 24 hours after polymerization is advised and further studies to decrease microleakage should be conducted.
