A Study on the Line of Action Shown in Characters' Poses of a Game 'Over Watch' (게임 '오버워치' 캐릭터의 Pose에 나타난 Line of Action 연구)

  • In spite of lots of differences in the production process of film animation, the animating method through computer is not much different between game animation and film animation. It is because the principles of film animation are also emphasized for the production of game animation. This study aims to consider the line of action showing the direction of movement and flow of energy among many considerations for the character pose work in case when producing game animation. Starting from the basic theory of drawing, the line of action plays a role of bible in the pose work including cell animation and 3D animation. After examining the theoretical background through preceding researches in order to understand the application of the line of action to the pose work of game characters, the poses of hero characters of a 3D online game 'Over Watch' were collected and then lines were directly drawn to analyze them. And as a result, the pose of characters with simple and clear 'Line of action' was good. This study aimed to consider the expression techniques of character pose in the production of game animation, which is expected to be used as an important reference for game animators at work.

  • Game industry will be one of the fastest developed industries in the 21st century. It is the outcome derived from the development of hardware such as the accumulated technology and computer in the 20th century. The development of computer graphics and hardware technique has let games have more realistic expression. The reality shown in games has influences over the movement of 3-dimensional game character as well as its background. The animation of character has been influenced by animator's level of skill, but it was problematic to have unnatural movement and long-term production time. In this regard, this study will compare the most widely used animation techniques such as Key-Frame method and Motion-Capture method each other and try to figure out which one is the most appropriate and effective method in 3 dimensional game character animation.

  • Nowadays, 3-D(Three-dimensions) is used in various field such as Games, Movies, Animations etc. Especially the Role of 3-D computer graphic is being generalized by turnover of Screen from '2-dimensional' to '3-dimensional'. There are not enough data about 'Motion Capture' even though it plays main function in 3-dimensional movement. 'Motion Capture' could be also unfamiliar for people. And as a matter of fact, the use of this equipment is limited due to its high cost. Therefore, I studied the outline of Digital Motion Capture system and its application to 3-D game Character Animation. And I checked the movement of 3-D Character after transplanting the Motion Data to the 3-D Character. I acquired Motion Data by Optical Motion Capture Equipment which we possess and transplanted it into the 3-D Character then Implemented it as walking, running and hitting which are the basic motions of Expression.

  • 3D character animation grow rapidly with the development of computer graphic technology and software. Nowadays 3D character animation holds a important position in the various industry fields including movie, advertisement, animation, and game. With the rapid growth of computer graphic, real time animation of complex characters as well as high quality rendering, which was impossible before, are now prevailing. What is remarkable in this growth is the appearance of virtual idol. The virtual idol plays a leading role in 3D character animation and has a synergy effect in the field of fancy and theme park industry.   • First of all, What was the modeling technique used to model 3D-Game character? It's a technique developed along several years, by experience... here is the bases Low polygons characters I always work in low polygon for two reasons -You can easily modify a low-poly character, change shapes, make morph for facial expressions etc -You can easily animate a low-poly character When the modeling is finished, Second, In these days, Computer hardware technologies have been bring about that expansion of various 3D digital motion pictured information and development. 3D digital techniques can be used to be diversity in Animation, Virtual-Reality, Movie, Advertisement, Game and so on. Besides, as computing power has been better and higher, the development of 3D Animations and Character are required gradually. In order to satisfy the requirement, Research about how to make 3D Game modeling that represents Character's emotions, sensibilities, is beginning to set its appearance. 3D characters in 3D Games are the core for the communications of emotion and the informations through their facial expression and characteristic motions, Sounds to Users. All concerning about 3D motion and facial expression are getting higher with extension of frequency in use. Therefore, in this study we suggest the effective method of modeling for 3D character and which are based on 2D Graphics.

  • This paper shows the face rotation applicable to game character facial illustration. Existing studies limited data to human face data, required a large amount of data, and the synthesized results were not good. In this paper, the following method was introduced to solve the existing problems of existing studies. First, a 3D model with features of the input image was rotated and then rendered as a 2D image to construct a data set. Second, by designing GAN that can learn features of various poses from the data built through the 3D model, the input image can be synthesized at a desired pose. This paper presents the results of synthesizing the game character face illustration. From the synthesized result, it can be confirmed that the proposed method works well.

  • Practical use degree of Motion Capture technology is low in korea game market which did growth of MMORPG putting first. However, that is dance game or FPS, sports game genre is magnified. Therefore, practical use degree of Motion Capture technology is increasing. And, need various research to take advantage of Motion Capture technology effectively. Studied 3D game character animation manufacture pipe line for it. Characteristic of this manufacture pipe line is work classification, correction of two times, Biped format all-in-one to progress Motion Capture technology and keyframe-animation work at the same time. Also, manufacture pipe line that is consisted of this constituent has economic performance, extensity, systemicity.

  • To improve the sense of unity between game players and game world avatars, we propose a method to measure game player's physical status and manipulate game character appearances and behavior using the measurements. To measure the status, we implemented a hardware module that perceive the body temperature. We implemented a 3D horror game whose game space is a common subway space ordinarily encountered in daily life so that ordinary people can easily get used to the game environment. The experiments of applying the measurement data from the game player to the game world avatar shows that the player's physical status can be effectively utilized to improve the sense of reality in gameplay.

  • 게임에서 캐릭터와 몬스터 간, 캐릭터와 캐릭터 간, 피격처리 등을 위해서는 충돌처리가 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 Unity3D 엔진에서 지원하는 충돌처리 방법을 비교분석하였다. Unity3D 엔진에서 지원하는 충돌처리 방법은 Collider 방식과 Raycast 방식이 있으며, Collider 방식은 정적이거나 속도가 아주 느린 오브젝트에 사용하고, Raycast방식은 속도가 빠른 투사체를 구현하는데 적합하다.
