Evaluation of Corrosion Resistance on Al-Cr Coated Stainless Steel Separator for MCFC at Anode Side (MCFC 양극측에서 Al-Cr피복 스테인레스강 분리판의 내식성평가)

  • In order to evaluate the corrosion resistance at the anode side separator for molten carbonate fuel cell, STS316 and SACC-STS316 (chromium and aluminum were simultaneously deposited by diffusion into STS316 authentic stainless steel substrate by pack-cementation process) were applied as the separator material. In case of STS316, corrosion proceeded via three steps ; a formation step of corrosion product until stable corrosion product, a protection step against corrosion until breakaway occurs, a advance step of corrosion after breakaway. Especially, STS316 would be impossible to use the separator without suitable surface modification because of rapid corrosion rate after formation of corrosion product, occurs the severe problem on stability of cell during long-time operation. Whereas, SACC-STS316 was showed more effective corrosion resistance than the present separator, STS316 due to the intermetallic compound layer such as NiAl, Ni3Al formed on the surface of STS316 specimen. And it is anticipated that, in order to use SACC-STS316 alternative separator at the anode side, coating process, which can lead to dense coating layer, has to be developed, and by suitable pre-treatment before using it, very effective corrosion resistance will be achieved.

Mechanical properties and immersion characteristics of sensitinized STS310S, STS316L and STS347H in the range of 480~720℃ (480~720℃에서 예민화한 STS310S, STS316L 및 STS347H의 기계적 성질 및 침지 특성)

  • The current study was carried to understand the immersion characteristics and mechanical properties of heat treated stainless steels. Stainless steels (STS310S, STS316L and STS347H) were thermally treated at temperature ranges from 480 to $720^{\circ}C$. Nominal stress was determined to be slightly different depending on the heat treatment temperature. The Cr concentration in STS310S was increased at the temperatures of 600 and $660^{\circ}C$, whereas the Cr concentration in STS316L and STS347H were almost constant regardless of heat treatment temperatures. Vickers hardness was found larger as a thermal treatment temperature was increased. Immersion tests of the stainless steels were also carried out in acidic solution and alkaline solution for 240 hours. Among three different stainless steels, the pitting was detected in the acidic solution, not in the alkaline solution. The pitting of STS347H was occurred more than STS310S and STS316L.

  • Densification behavior of 316L stainless steel power under die pressing was studied. The efects of friction between the powder and die wall under different die pressing modes were also investigated. The elastoplastic constitutive equations based on the yield functions of Fleck-Gurson and of Shima and Oyane were implemented into finite element program(ABAQUS) to simulate die compaction processes. The finite element results were compared with experimental data for 316L stainless steel powder under die pressing.

Experiment and Analysis of the Residual Stress for Multipass Weld Pipes by the Neutron Diffraction Method

  • Multipass welds of 316L stainless steel have been widely employed to the pipes of Liquid Metal Reactors. Owing to localized heating and a subsequent rapid cooling by the welding process, residual stress arises in the weld of the pipe. In this study, the residual stresses in the 316L stainless steel pipe welds were calculated by the finite element method using the ANSYS code. Also, the residual stresses both on the surface and in the interior of the thickness were measured by the HRPD(High Resolution Powder Diffractometer) instrumented in the HANARO Reactor. The experimental data and the calculated results were compared and the characteristics of the distribution of the residual stress were discussed.

스테인레스강 저주기 피로 수명 분포의 추계적 모델링

  • In present study, a stochastic model is developed for the low cycle fatigue life prediction and reliability assessment of 316L stainless steel under variable multiaxial loading. In the proposed model, fatigue phenomenon is considered as a Markov process, and damage vector and reliability are defined on every plane. Any low cycle fatigue damage evaluating method can be included in the proposed model. The model enables calculation of statistical reliability and crack initiation direction under variable multiaxial loading, which are generally not available. In present study, a critical plane method proposed by Kandil et al., maximum tensile strain range, and von Mises equivalent strain range are used to calculate fatigue damage. When the critical plane method is chosen, the effect of multiple critical planes is also included in the proposed model. Maximum tensile strain and von Mises strain methods are used for the demonstration of the generality of the proposed model. The material properties and the stochastic model parameters are obtained from uniaxial tests only. The stochastic model made of the parameters obtained from the uniaxial tests is applied to the life prediction and reliability assessment of 316L stainless steel under variable multiaxial loading. The predicted results show good accordance with experimental results.

Fabrication of Low Density Sintered Stainless Steel Filter

  • In a manufacturing technique of the sintered filter, pressureless sintering method has good permeability, it is not need the binder and lubricant used on compacting process, so it has little contamination and it is easy to control the pore size and shape but the mechanical strength is low relatively and it is difficult that parts of complicate form are manufactured. In the case of manufacturing the filter by press and sintering method, in order to be satisfactory characteristic of un-pressed filter, in this study sintered metal filter fabricated by using 30-40mesh stainless steel 316L powder and additive agents. Porosity and structure of pores, permeability and mechanical strength of the sintered filter were investigated with the variation sintering conditions. Porosity was nearly constant about $60{\sim}70%$, density, permeability and mechanical strength were changed markedly with quantity of additive materials and sintering conditions.

  • 본 연구에서는 STS 316강의 고온 저사이클 피로강도와 파괴거동을 고찰하고자 고온 대기중에서 변형율 제어에 의한 인장.압축 저사이클 피로시험을 실시하였다. 전 변형율축, 탄성 변형율축 및 소성 변형율축과 피로수명과의 관계를 일정 변형율 속 도하에서 응력축, 온도 및 주파수의 영향과 파괴거동을 고찰하였다.
