  • In this paper, A CMOS power amplifier for PCS is designed with 0.65-$\mu\textrm{m}$ CMOS technology. Differential cascode structure is used which has good reverse isolation and wide voltage swing. This amplifier circuits consist of three stages which are power amplification stage, driver stage and power control stage. We obtain output power of 30 ㏈m, IMD3 of -31㏈c and efficiency of 30 % at input power of 4 ㏈m.

  • As Utility interactive fuel cell systems are widely used, it is required for each power conditioning system(PCS) to have higher generating performance and more stable connecting characteristics. This study is focused to minimization of power losses and hence higher efficiency related to the new half bridge type 3-stage utility interactive PCS topology. The loss factor of half-bridge converter becomes only 1.2[%] under the rated load, and hence total efficiency is maintained to be higher as 91[%].

Two-Stage Multichannel Architecture for Oyster Product Management System

  • In this paper, we propose two-stage multichannel architecture for oyster product management system, called cloud stage and agent stage. There are two communication channels at each stage. In cloud stage, the embedded system in the smart scale communicates with the server through two channels, Ethernet or 3G/LTE mobile communication. In agent stage, PCs and smart phones called agents communicate with the server also through Internet and 3G/LTE mobile communication. Compared with previous system in which the amount of the oyster produced in oyster workplaces could be monitored only at the console of only one oyster main server, developed system makes it possible to monitor the amount of produced oyster at several PCs (or smart phones). In addition to the amount of oysters produced at all oyster workplaces the environment of oyster workplaces such as temperature and humidity can be monitored on agents to judge the freshness. Two-stage architecture with multiple channels makes it possible to monitor the amount of oyster product and environment of the oyster workplace at any place in real time.

  • 본 논문에서는 10GBASE-R 형식의 PCS (Physical Coding Sublayer) 구현을 위한 회로로써 표준 속도인 156.25MHz에서 동작하면서 2단 파이프라인 구조로 64b/66b 인코더/디코더를 설계하여 가능한 클록 지연을 최소화한 회로를 제시한다. 제안하는 PCS 회로는 Verilog 하드웨어 설계 언어를 기반으로 설계하여 FPGA를 통한 기능 검증을 위해 Xilinx사의 VertexII-1000fg456 칩에서 측정하였다. 측정한 게이트 수는 47,303이고, Vcc 3.3V에서 351mW의 전력 소모를 보였다.

  • 계통연계형 태양광 PCS는 주로 전압원 인버터와 전압의 승압을 위한 DC/DC컨버터, 즉 이단구조로 구성된다. Z-소스 인버터는 DC/DC컨버터 없이 전압을 승/감압할 수 있다. 3k급 계통연계형 태양광 PCS에 Z-소스 인버터를 적용하여 일단구조로 설계하였고 PSIM 시뮬레이션과 실험을 통하여 타당성을 검증하였다.

Identification of an effective and safe bolus dose and lockout time for patient-controlled sedation (PCS) using dexmedetomidine in dental treatments: a randomized clinical trial

  • Background: This study investigated a safe and effective bolus dose and lockout time for patient-controlled sedation (PCS) with dexmedetomidine for dental treatments. The depth of sedation, vital signs, and patient satisfaction were investigated to demonstrate safety. Methods: Thirty patients requiring dental scaling were enrolled and randomly divided into three groups based on bolus doses and lockout times: group 1 (low dose group, bolus dose 0.05 ㎍/kg, 1-minute lockout time), group 2 (middle dose group, 0.1 ㎍/kg, 1-minute), and group 3 (high dose group, 0.2 ㎍/kg, 3-minute) (n = 10 each). ECG, pulse, oxygen saturation, blood pressure, end-tidal CO2, respiratory rate, and bispectral index scores (BIS) were measured and recorded. The study was conducted in two stages: the first involved sedation without dental treatment and the second included sedation with dental scaling. Patients were instructed to press the drug demand button every 10 s, and the process of falling asleep and waking up was repeated 1-5 times. In the second stage, during dental scaling, patients were instructed to press the drug demand button. Loss of responsiveness (LOR) was defined as failure to respond to auditory stimuli six times, determining sleep onset. Patient and dentist satisfaction were assessed before and after experimentation. Results: Thirty patients (22 males) participated in the study. Scaling was performed in 29 patients after excluding one who experienced dizziness during the first stage. The average number of drug administrations until first LOR was significantly lower in group 3 (2.8 times) than groups 1 and 2 (8.0 and 6.5 times, respectively). The time taken to reach the LOR showed no difference between groups. During the second stage, the average time required to reach the LOR during scaling was 583.4 seconds. The effect site concentrations (Ce) was significantly lower in group 1 than groups 2 and 3. In the participant survey on PCS, 8/10 in group 3 reported partial memory loss, whereas 17/20 in groups 1 and 2 recalled the procedure fully or partially. Conclusion: PCS with dexmedetomidine can provide a rapid onset of sedation, safe vital sign management, and minimal side effects, thus facilitating smooth dental sedation.

PCS 기지국 및 중계기용 저잡음 증폭기의 구현 (Development of the Low Noise Amplifier for PCS Base Station and Transponder)

  • 본 논문에서는 한국형 PCS 기지국 및 중계기의 수신부에 사용되는 1.71∼l.78 GHz용 저잡음 증폭기(Low Noise Amplifier)를 저항결합회로를 이용하여 구현하였다. 사용된 저항 결합회로는 반사되는 전력이 정합회로내의 저항에서 소모되므로 반사계수는 작아지고, 안정도도 개선되며 저잡음 증폭기의 설계시 입력단 정합에 용이하였다. 저잡음 증폭기의 설계제작에는 저잡음 GaAs FET인 ATF-10136과 내부정합된 MMIC인 VNA-25를 이용하였으며, 알루미늄 기구물안에 RF 회로와 자체 바이어스(Self-bias) 회로를 함께 장착시켰다. 이렇게 제작된 저잡음 증폭기는 30 dB이상의 이득과 0.85 dB이하의 잡음지수를 얻었다.

Health-Related Quality of Life of Patients with Intermediate Hepatocellular Carcinoma after Liver Resection or Transcatheter Arterial Chemoembolization

  • Background: The aim of our present study was to compare quality of life (QoL) between intermediate-stage (BCLC-B) HCC patients who had undergone either liver resection or transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE). Materials and Methods: A total of 102 intermediate-stage HCC patients participated in our study, including 58 who had undergone liver resection and 44 who had undergone TACE. Baseline demographic characteristics, tumor characteristics, and long-term outcomes, such as tumor recurrence, were compared and analyzed. QoL was assessed using the Short Form (SF)-36 health survey questionnaire with the mental and physical component scales (SF-36 MCS and PCS). This questionnaire was filled out at HCC diagnosis and 1, 3, 6, 12, 24 months after surgery. Results: For the preoperative QoL evaluation, the 8 domains related to QoL were comparable between the two groups. The PCS and MCS scores were significantly decreased in both the TACE and resection groups at1 month after surgery, and this decrease was greater in the resection group. These scores were significantly lower in the resection group compared with the TACE group (P<0.05). However, these differences disappeared at 3 and 6 months following surgery. One year after surgery, the resection group showed much higher PCS scores than the TACE patients (P=0.018), and at 2 years after surgery, the PCS and MCS scores for the resection group were significantly higher than those for the TACE group (P<0.05). Eleven patients (19.0%) in the resection group and 17 (38.6%) in the TACE group suffered HCC recurrence (P<0.05). Univariate and multivariate analyses indicated that tumor recurrence (HR=1.211, 95%CI: 1.086-1.415, P=0.012) was a significant risk factor for poorpostoperative QoL in the HCC patients.Conclusions: Due to its effects on reducing HCC recurrence and improving long-term QoL, liver resection should be the first choice for the treatment of patients with intermediate-stage HCC.

  • 상용계통과 연계한 PV 시스템은 인버터의 특성과 더불어 소형, 고 역률, 낮은 고조파 출력, 고 신뢰성, 최대출력 운전, 저비용 등의 장점이 요구된다. 태양광발전시스템의 PV 에너지를 계통과 부하로 전달하기 위해 양방향의 PCS가 요구되어 진다. 본 논문에서는 태양광 발전의 ESS를 고려한 PCS를 제안하여 부하평준화를 통한 전력의 안정적인 공급을 확인하고자 한다. 이를 위해 일사량과 부하량에 따른 5단계의 동작 모드 알고리즘을 제안하고, 충/방전 제어를 위한 제어기를 설계 하였다. 양방향의 효율적인 에너지 전달을 위해 DC-link단에 양방향 컨버터 및 배터리를 연결하고, 연계형 인버터를 통해 DC-link 전압 및 인버터 출력전압을 제어하였다. 제안된 시스템의 타당성을 입증하기 위해 PSIM을 사용한 시뮬레이션을 수행하여 타당성과 안정성을 검토하였으며, 이를 확인하기 위해 3[kW] PCS를 제작하여 실험하였다. 실험결과를 통해 제안된 시스템에 요구되어지는 특성을 검증하였으며 기존 시스템에 비해 강인한 시스템을 구성하였다.

CDMA방식의 이중대역 전력증폭기의 설계 및 제작 (Design and implementation of dual band power amplifier for 800MHz CDMA and PCS handset)

  • 본 논문에서는 국내향 800MHz CDMA 와 PCS(CDMA 방식)에서 동시에 사용될 수 있는 이동통신 전화기의 핵심부품인 이중대역 전력증폭기 모듈에 대한 연구를 기술하였다. CDMA 방식의 전화기가 갖는 사용빈도가 가장 높은 출력(1O-15dBm)이 선형영역인점을 고려하여 종단전력증폭용 GaAs FET의 DC 동작점을 B급으로 제한하므로서 배터리 사용시간을 연장하였다. 따라서 낮은 동작점에서도 우수한 선형성을 가진 2개의 Plastic GaAS FET로서 모듈을 구현하였고 입출력단에 주파수 분리회로를 설계하여 2개의 주파수 대역을 사용할수 있게 하였다. 모듈의 소형화를 위해 다층기판을 사용하였으며 협소한 전송선로간의 전자기결합과 가판 각 층간의 via hole 등은 전자기 해석을 통해 회로 설계에 반영하였다. 모듈 전체 크기는 O.96CC($22{\times}14.5{\times}3mm^3$) 이고 출력 10~l5dBm에서 모듈 총전류는 130mA이다. 선형특성은 출력 28dBm(CDMA, 800MHz)와 23.5dBm(PCS)에서 IS-95에서 규정하는 ACPR(Adjacent Channel Power Rejection)보다 2-3dB 여유도를 가진다.
