  • A time-correlated single photon counting system combined with a mode locked $Ar^+$ laser has been utilized to measure the fluorescence decay. A side-on type photomultiplier tube has been used as a photon detector. By restricting the sensitive area and the position of the photocathode, the transit time differencies of photoelectrons in PMT has been reduced. The fluorescence life time of rhodamin 6G in ethylene glycol measured 3.9$\pm$10 ns.

  • At 3-D vision measuring, the camera calibration is necessary to calculate parameters accurately. Camera calibration was developed widely in two categories. One is that establishes reference points in space, and the other is that uses the grid type frame and statistical method.   • In this paper we deal with visual servoing that can control a robot arm with a camera using information of images only, without estimating 3D position and rotation of the robot arm.   • This study is to examine the safety by analizing the hardness of bed and the characteristic of vibration to improve basic efficiency of machine-tool of drill-cell which is a high line center. The mistake of existing design was shown through the analysis of 3-D and structure. The purpose of this study is to prevent from a problem which may happen after this and to produce more reliable machine-tool by carrying out and finding out an adequate countermeasure for bed at the cutting position.

  • Although the fundamental resonance frequency of a Helmholts resonator is mainly determined by the volume of the resonator and the size of the hole, it is also affected by the position of the hole and the shape of the resonator. In this study, the inertial end corrections and the fundamental resonance frequencies of concentric pipe resonators are estimated for various positions of the hole and shapes of the resonator by using the 3-D analysis. For an effective noise reduction in concentric pipe resonators with several holes, an optimal spatial hole-distribution is proposed based on the calculated transmission loss for various hole-distributions and sizes of holes.

Effects of PCB Ground Plane and Case on Internal WLAN Patch Antenna

  • We demonstrate that the effect of the PCB ground length and the cover is important in the performance of 2.4 GHz patch antennas. The Center frequency in the return loss shifts as much as 0.5 GHz, when the length of the PCB ground increases from 30 to 85 mm. The position of 10-dB bandwidth accordingly shifts to lower frequency region. Finally, the resonance at 2.4 GHz becomes stronger when the top cover exists. The radiation pattern of the patch antenna is also strongly affected by the ground structure and the existence of the top cover. In both the return loss and the radiation pattern, 3-dimensional simulations are shown to be an efficient tool.

  • This paper describes the development and control of a quadruped walking robot, named as KAISER-II. The control system with multiprocessor based hierachical structure is developed. In order to navigate autonomously on a rough terrain, an identification algorithm for robot's position is proposed using 3-D vision and guide-mark pattern Also, a simple attitude control algorithm is included using force sensors. Through experimental results, it is shown that the robot can not only walk statically on even terrain but also cross over or go through the artificially made obstacles such as stairs, horizontal bar and tunnel-typed one.

  • We solve the momentum resolved d-wave Eliashberg equation employing the magnetic excitation spectrum from the inelastic neutron scattering on the LSCO superconductors reported by Vignolle et al. The magnetic excitation spectrum exhibits 2 peaks: a sharp incommensurate peak at 18 meV at momentum (${\pi}$, ${\pi}{\pm}{\delta}$) and (${\pi}{\pm}{\delta}$, ${\pi}$) and another broad peak near 40~70 meV at momentum (${\pi}$, ${\pi}$). Above 70 meV, the magnetic excitation spectrum has a long tail that is shaped into a circle centered at (${\pi}$, ${\pi}$) with ${\delta}$. The sign of the real part of the self-energy is determined by the momentum position of the peaks of the magnetic excitation spectrum and bare dispersion. We will discuss the effects of the each component of the magnetic excitation spectrum on the self-energy, the pairing self-energy.

  • The measured rate of the tracking sensor becomes biased under some operational situation. For a highly maneuverable aircraft in 3D space, the target dynamics changes from time to time, and the Kalman filter using position measurement only can not be used effectively to reject the rate measurement bias error. To cope with this problem, we present a new algorithm which incorporate FIR-type filter and FIR-type fixed-lag smoother, and demonstrate that it has the optimal performance in terms of both estimation accuracy and response time through an application example to the anti-aircraft gun fire control system(AAGFCS).

  • An active control of the transmission of noise through an aircraft fuselage is investigated numerically. A cylinder-cavity system was used as a model for this study. The fuselage is modeled as a fi nite, thin shel cylinder with constant thickness. The sound field generated by an exterior monopole source is transmitted into the cavity through the cylinder. Point force actuators on the cylinder are driven by error sensor that is placed in 3D cavity. Modal coupling theory is used to formulate the numerical models and describe the system behavior. Minimization of the acoustic potential energy in the fuselage is carried out as a performance index. Continuous parameter genetic algorithm is used to search the optimal actuator position and both results are compared.
