  • In this paper, we explain briefly polysilicon guard layer in a simple 3-D structure. Simulation was performed extensively to see interference and characterize the role of the polysilicon guard layer. Especially, we performed extensively S-parameter simulation to analysis the signal interference. The interference was characterized in terms of oxide thickness, polysilicon doping concentration, thickness, number of contact of polysilicon guard, and metal guard size.

  • Larbi (1995) and Jeong et al. (2005) analyzed the various boundary end conditions of buried pipelines using the mode superposition method as one of the dynamic analysis methods of buried pipelines. However, it is very complicated to derive calculation equations for the solutions to be obtained by this method, and even the derived calculation equations need separate computer programming for the numerical analysis in order to obtain the solutions. For this reason, this method is extremely difficult for engineers to apply in their field works. In consideration of the shortcoming of the mode superposition method, this study's purpose is to propose a 3D dynamic finite difference method, which is more easily applicable in the field. For this purpose, we tested the accuracy of the 3D dynamic analysis and compared the results with those of the mode superposition method and certified that the 3D dynamic analysis could be an alternative method to obtain the seismic responses of the pipelines.

  • The present study is intended to study sole types necessary for shoe designs for elementary school students that are in age groups in growth periods, and 3D midsole design utilizing 3D printing technology. This study analyzed data from the 3D measurement of the feet of 1,227 elementary school students aged 7-13 years residing in the capital region conducted as part of the 6th Anthropometry of Size Korea. In addition, 3D midsoles by sole type were designed utilizing a Rhino CAD, and midsole prototypes were output utilizing a Zortrax-M200 3D Printer. Through a cluster analysis of sole shapes by type, sole shapes were classified into three types. Type 1 has small values of foot lengths and foot breadths, with large toe 1 angles and high arch heights. Type 2 has intermediate values of foot lengths and foot breadths, with small toe 1 angles and high arch heights. Type 3 has large values of foot lengths and foot breadths with small toe 1 angles and low arch heights. On reviewing the results of design of 3D midsoles by sole type, it can be seen that the midsoles were designed according to characteristics by sole type. The results of the sole type analysis in the present study are expected to be meaningful as basic data for the development of shoe insoles for elementary school students.

  • Traditionally 2D cephalometric analysis has been used for diagnosis and treatment of maxillofacial deformities. However, 2D has some limitations in diagnosis and treatment planning especially facial asymmetry cases. The most weakness of 2D is overlapping and unpredictability. Today 3D treatment tools are used by many maxillofacial surgeons. 3D treatment tools can show ungarbled facial anatomy and do virtual surgery. The aim of this report is to present usefulness of using 3D analysis and virtual orthognathic surgery for severe facial asymmetry patients.

  • This paper is concerned with realistic mainpulation of content in video sequences. Manipulation of content in video sequences is one of the content-based functionalities for MPEG-4 Visual standard. We present an approach to synthesizing video sequences by using the intermediate outputs of three-dimensional (3D) motion and depth analysis. For concreteness, we focus on video showing 3D motion of an observer relative to a scene containing planar runways (or roads). We first present a simple runway (or road) model. Then, we describe a method of identifying the runway (or road) boundary in the image using the Point of Heading Direction (PHD) which is defined as the image of, the ray along which a camera moves. The 3D motion of the camera is obtained from one of the existing 3D analysis methods. Then, a video sequence containing a runway is manipulated by (i) coloring the scene part above a vanishing line, say blue, to show sky, (ii) filling in the occluded scene parts, and (iii) overlaying the identified runway edges and placing yellow disks in them, simulating lights. Experimental results for a real video sequence are presented.

  • A 3-dimensional analysis is desired for a magnet of magnetically levitated vehicle because the geometrical shape of the magnet is complicated and nonsymmetric. A FEM package of FLUX3D is used to analyze the characteristic of the magnet. Various quantities could be observed like levitation force, flux density distribution along the air gap, edge and fringing effect, leakage flux pattern, etc. The simulation results from FLUX3D are compared with those of 2-D analysis and test results. There are a little difference between results due to the boundary conditions and magnetized B-H curve of the core.

  • 3D Equivalent magnetic Circuit Network Method (EMCNM) is comparatively the easy way that analyzes 3D models of Electric Machine by using permeance as a distributive magnetic circuit parameter under the existing magnetic equivalent circuit method and Numerical Method. The existing 3D EMCNM could not correctly describe the shape of an analysis target when using rectangular shape element or fan shape element, so it made errors when calculating permeance. Therefore, this paper proposes the trapezoidal element contained rectangular element, fan-shape element, and quadrilateral element to express a shape. The proposed method in this research was confirmed as a useful and an accurate method through comparing with the analysis result of SRM model that is sufficiently guaranteed by 2D-Analysis.
