Sediment exchange in river has been affected by artificial changes such as dredging and abnormal climate changes like intense rainfall. Over last decades in Korea, there were many constructions, restoration or rehabilitation in rivers. Therefore, deposition and erosion become more actively occurred than before, which may threaten the river safety such as flood defense. For safety's sake, the dredging of river bed, which is considered as the most typical measure, has been increased to extend hydraulic conveyance compared with previous conditions. However, since it might change the sediment mechanism, there would be another risk at which unexpected side effects such as headward erosion could be occurred. Particularly, sedimentation at abrupt expansion region is able to lead to hydraulic characteristics like water elevation in the upstream region in the beginning of dredging, which, however, has been barely studied in this field. Therefore in this study, the relationship between sediment mechanism at dredging section and hydraulic characteristics in upstream region were presented through numerical simulations in the idealized abruptly widen channel using Delft3D. The ideal channel of 2,000 m length with each side angle of 45 degrees at abruptly widen expansion region was employed to consider the sediment angle of repose. The sensitivity analysis was performed on the dimensionless factors consisted of upstream and downstream depths($h_u$, $h_d$), width($w_u$, $w_d$), water level(H), flow rate(Q) and discharge of sediment($Q_s$). And the sedimentation amount at dredging and the upstream hydraulic characteristics were investigated through that analysis. It showed that $h_d/h_u$, $H/h_u$ and $w_d/w_u$ were more influential in sequence of effect on sedimentation amount, while $h_d/h_u$, $w_d/w_u$ and $H/h_u$ on upstream region. It means that $h_d/h_u$ was revealed as the most significant factors on sedimentation, also it would most highly affect the rising of water level upstream.

Proposed in the paper is a methodology to generate kinematic template for 3D JIG models. Recently, according to increase of the rate of automatic facility in manufacturing system, the 3D manufacturing and verification research and development have been issued. So, unlike in the past, moving 3D facilities are very various like JIGs, turn table, AS/RS worked in the automated manufacturing industry. Because 3D mesh models are used in these kinds of 3D simulation, users have to define the kinematic information manually. This 3D mesh data doesn't have parametric information and design history of the 3D model unlike the design level data. So, it is lighter than 3D design level data and more efficient to render on the 3D virtual manufacturing environment. But, when user wants to find a common axis located between the links, the parameter information of the model has to reconstruct for defining kinematic construction. It takes a long time and very repetitive to define an axis and makes a joint using 3D mesh data and it is non-intuitive task for user. This paper proposed template model that provides kinematic information of the JIG. This model is kinds of a state diagram to describe a relation between links. So, this model can be used for a kinematic template to the JIG which has a same mechanism. The template model has to be registered in the template library to use in the future, after user made the model of the specific type of the 3D JIG model.
A swashplate type piston motor with a tripod joints is introduced to improve compactness and starting torque in conventional types of motor. If the driving torque of motor shaft is transmitted by utilizing the mechanism, its friction torque loss would be drastically reduced and mechanical efficiency would be improved because the lateral force on the piston of the rod type motor with tripod joints mechanism is relatively smaller than that of the conventional plunger type motor. In particular, kinematics analysis for the mechanism are done as a preliminary study to investigate the feasibility of the mechanism in the axial piston motor. General formulas are derived from the displacement and velocity analysis of the mechanism, showing relationships between output shaft and shoe holder motion. A series of numerical calculations are carried out for a medium size motor with 160cc/rev using the formulas and their graphical plots are shown as well.

In this study, a novel method for dimension measurement of large-scale moving objects using stereo camera with 2-degree of freedom (2-DOF) mechanism is presented. The proposed method utilizes both the advantages of stereo vision technique and the enlarged visibility range of camera due to 2-DOF rotary mechanism in measuring large-scale moving objects. The measurement system employs a stereo camera combined with a 2-DOF rotary mechanism that allows capturing separate corners of the measured object. The measuring algorithm consists of two main stages. First, three-dimensional (3-D) positions of the corners of the measured object are determined based on stereo vision algorithms. Then, using the rotary angles of the 2-DOF mechanism the dimensions of the measured object are calculated via coordinate transformation. The proposed system can measure the dimensions of moving objects with relatively slow and steady speed. We showed that the proposed system guarantees high measuring accuracy with some experiments.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effcts of n-3, n-6 fatty arid and d-limonene on histopathological and biochemical changes in experimental rat hepatocarcinogenesis. To attain the above objectives, weanling Sprague-Dawley female rats were intraperitoneally injected twice with a dose of diethylnitrosamine(DEN, 50mg/kg body weight) and after 1 week 0.05% phenobarbital was provided with water. Sardine oil rich in n-3 fatty acids and corn oil rich in n-6 fatty acids were fed at 15% by weight and 5% d-limonene was added to the diet in each group. Ten weeks or 20 weeks after DEN treatment, rats were sacrifirced. The formation of glutathione S-transferase placental form positive(GST-P$\^$+/) foci was significantly decreased by the treatment of either sardine oil or d-limonene HMG-CoA reductase activity was not affected by dietary oils and d-limonene. Protein kinase C (PKC) activity was decreased by either sardine oil or d-limonene. Particularly d-limonene decreased the membrane PKC activity. Membrane Cholesterol/Phospholipid(Chol/PL) ratio was significantly decreased by d-limonene in sardine oil group. The data showed that GST-P$\^$+/ foci number was positively correlated with membrane PKC activity and serum cholesterol and negatively correlated with liver cholesterol level. These results suggest informations about the correlation between histopathological and biochemical changes such as cholesterol metabolism and PKC activity in experimental hepatocarcinogenesis and thereby can elucidate the possible mechanism related to the cancer inhibition.(Korean J Nutrition 33(1) : 23-32, 2000)
Objective : This study investigated the apoptotic effect and its mechanism of Radix Aconiti (RA) extract and aconitine, which is a major constituent of RA, in HepG2 human hepatoma cells. Methods : We used MTT and DNA fragmentation assay to investigate cell viability and apoptotic effect on RA extract-treated HepG2 cells. In addition, to clarify the mechanism of RA extract-induced apoptosis, we applied caspase-3 enzyme activity assay and Western blotting method on poly-(ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP) protein expression. Results : Treatment with RA extract resulted in the decrease of cell viability, and this effect was caused from apoptosis as confirmed by discontinuous fragmentation of DNA in HepG2 cells, but aconitine did not. Also, RA extract-treated HepG2 cells induced the activation of caspase-3 enzyme activity in time- and dose-dependent manners, which was accompanied by the cleavage of 116 kD PARP to 85 kD product. Conclusions : These results suggest that the apoptotic effects of RA extract on HepG2 cells could not be explained by aconitine. Additionally, RA extract induced apoptosis in hepatoma cells through caspase-3 activation and subsequent PARP cleavage.

In this paper, a procedure of design and development of a child-sized humanoid robot is described. The design concept for a humanoid robot was proposed and the mechanism of the humanoid robot which is more than 1 meter tall was designed by using 3D design tools. By considering the lightweight of the robot, the hardware for the robot was designed for optimal performance. The frames and links of the robot designed by 3D design tools was manufactured through precision machining with the material which is light and have a good strength. The manufactured child-sized humanoid robot was experimented with basic motions applied inverse kinematics and balance control, and the performance of the motions were verified.
The mechanism of activation of phospholipase D2 (PLD2) remains undefined although mechanisms have been described for the activation of PLDI. By expression of mutated forms of haemaglutinnin-tagged PLD2 in a mast cell (RBL-2H3) line, we show that PLD2 is phosphorylated at tyrosines -11, -14, and -470 and that tyrosine-470 is critical for activation of PLD2 by antigen. Studies were performed with mutated-DNA constructs for haemaglutinnin-tagged PLD2 in which codons for tyrosine -11, -14, -165, and -470 were mutated to phenylalanine either individually or collectively. Transient expression of these constructs showed that mutation of tyrosine -11, -14, -470, or all tyrosines (all-mutated PLD2) suppressed antigen-induced tyrosine phosphorylation of PLD2 but only the tyrosine-470 mutant failed to be activated by antigen as assessed by in vitro assay of immunoprepitated PLD2 or by assay of PLD in intact cells. The critical role of tyrosine-470 was confirmed in studies with add-back mutants (phenylalanine back to tyrosine) of the all-mutated PLD. The findings provide the first description of a mechanism of activation of PLD2 in a physiological setting.
Solvolyses of isobutyl chloroformate (4) in 43 binary solvent mixtures including highly aqueous media, water, $D_2O$, $CH_3OD$, 2,2,2-trifluoroethanol (TFE) as well as aqueous 1,1,1,3,3,3-hexafluoro-isopropanol (HFIP) solvents were performed at $45^{\circ}C$, in order to further investigate the recent results of D'Souza, M. $J^1$. et al.; solvolyses of 4 are found to be consistent with the proposed mechanism ($Ad_E$). The variety of solvent systems was extended to comprise highly ionizing power solvent media ($Y_{Cl}$ > 2.7 excepted for aqueous fluorinated solvents and pure TFE solvent) to investigate whether a mechanistic change occurs as solvent compositions are varied. However, in case of 18-solvent ranges having aqueous fluorinated solvent systems (TFE-$H_2O$ and HFIP-$H_2O$) and/or having $Y_{Cl}$ > 2.7 solvent systems, the solvent effect on reactivity for those of 4 are evaluated by the multiple regression analysis as competition with $S_N2$ - type mechanism. And in pure TFE and 97 w/w % HFIP solvents with high $Y_{Cl}$ and weak $N_T$, these solvolyses are understood as reactions which proceed through an ionization ($S_N1$) pathway.

This study made progress about Demage Mechanism of Transition Section in Cut and Cover Tunnel. For this study, Inspection and test was carried out about Transition Section. After this process, Numerical Analysis was accomplished by 2D, 3D. A result of inspection and test, It couldn't find the reason why the upper slab Demage was detected. So 2D Numerical Analysis was conducted. It was analyzed that the Safety Factor(1.0) was satisfied in 2D. But, the result of 3D Numerical Analysis, The reason was found that the Demage on upper slab was caused by moment change. The Moment was changed by column interval transition. For Retrofitting, Column was added under slab in tunnel. It was found that the addition column decreased upper slab deformation. After this study, It could be find that are important 3D Numerical Analysis as well as 2D Numerical Analysis in case of Transition Section. This Study can help developing construction and maintenance about Tunnel. Finally, It's going to study Retrofitting plans which have minimum influence of Transition Section in Cut and Cover Tunnel.
