미세구조 제어를 통한 (Nd,Dy)-Fe-B 소결자석의 보자력 증가 (The Coercivity Enhancement of (Nd,Dy)-Fe-B Sintered Magnet by Microstructure Control)

  • Sintered Nd-Fe-B magnets are widely used in many fields such as motors, generators, actuators, microwaves and so on due to their excellent magnetic properties. Many researchers have shown that the Nd-rich phase was essentially important for high magnet properties. In this study, we focused on controlling of the Nd-rich phase to enhance magnetic properties by the cyclic sintering process. Nd-Fe-B based sintered magnets were prepared by isothermal sintering and cyclic sintering processes. Magnetic properties and microstructure of the magnets were investigated. The coercivity was enhanced from 21.2 kOe to 23.27 kOe after 10 cycles of the sintering. The Nd-rich phase was effectively penetrated into the grain boundary between the $Nd_2Fe_{14}B$ grains by the cyclic sintering.

  • In this study, the sintering behavior of (Nd, Dy)-Fe-B powder which fabricated by strip-casting was investigated with various sintering temperatures and holding times. The relative density over 99% could be obtained by both sintering at $1070^{\circ}C$ for 1h and sintering at $970^{\circ}C$ for 20h. The grain growth was observed in sintered specimen at $1050^{\circ}C$ compared to one at $970^{\circ}C$. The isothermal sintering process below $1000^{\circ}C$ led to suppress grain growth showing the improved magnetic properties. The phase transformation of Nd-rich was confirmed by X-ray diffraction pattern.

  • In this study, the influence of the powder sintering, the 2nd sinteiing and the grinding time on the Superconducting properties in the Bi(Pb)SiCaCuO Superconductor has been studied. From the analysis of SEM and XRD patterns, it was known that the sample prepared by the process of powder sintering has a porous microstructure with the critical temperature(Tc) below 77K, while the sample prepared by the 2nd sintering has a highly oriented microstructure with the Tc above 100K. The Critical Current Density(Jc) of the sample prepared by the 2nd sintering was better than the sample prepared by the process of powder sinteiing, but it's Jc, was low in practical use. Also, the effect of grinding time from 0[min] to 120[min] was investigated. As the grinding time is increased, the samples degraded from high-Tc phase to low-Tc phase and nonsuperconducting phases.

  • Magnetic properties and the microstructures of magnets prepared by spark plasma sintering were investigated in order to enhance magnetic properties by grain size control. Nd-Fe-B magnets were fabricated by the spark plasma sintering under 30 MPa at various temperatures. The grain size was effectively controlled by the spark plasma sintering and it was possible to make Nd-Fe-B magnets with grain size of 5.9 ${\mu}m$.

  • 상압 소결법(PLS, pressureless sintering) 및 방전가열 소결법(SPS, spark plasma sintering)으로 소결한 {{{{ {ZrB }_{2 } - ZrC }}}} 복합체의 미세구조를 SEM-EBSP 법에 의해 결정기하학적으로 분석하였다. PLS법에 의해 소결된 복합체에서 {{{{ { ZrB}_{2 } }}}}의 (1010) 면은ND(시편에 수직인 방향)로 배향되었고, ZrC 경우 (101) 및 (111)면이 ND방향으로 배향되었다. 한편 SPS법에 위해 소결된 {{{{ { ZrB}_{2 } }}}}의 (0001)A면은 ND방향으로 강하게 배향되었다. ZrC인 경우 (001) 면만이 ND방향으로 배향되었다. PLS법에 의한 소결체의 결정립은 특정방위에 대해 약한 배향을 갖으면서, {{{{ { ZrB}_{2 } }}}}와 ZrC상 계면의 구조적 조화가 우수한 반면, SPS법에 의한 소결체의 결정립들은 특정방향으로 강하게 배향되는 경향을 보인다.

Effects of $Nd_2O_3$ and $TiO_2$ Addition on the Microstructures and Microwave Dielectric Properties of $BaO-Nd_2O_3-TiO_2$ System

  • The effects of $Nd_2O_3$ and $TiO_2$ addition on the microstructures and microwave dielectic properties of $BaO-Nd_2O_3-TiO_2$ system were investigated. $BaNd_2Ti_4O_{12}$ or $BaNd_2Ti_{5}O_{14}$ phases were observed for compositions based on BaO/$Nd_2O_3$ = 1 ratio. The compositions deviated from $BaO/Nd_2O_3=1$ ratio were composed of major phases of $BaNd_2Ti_4O_{12}$ or $BaNd_2Ti_5O_{14}$, and the compound of $Nd_2O_3$ and $TiO_2(Nd_2Ti_2O_7)$ or that of BaO and $TiO_2(BaTi_4O_9)$. The microstructure of ceramic with $BaO{\cdot}Nd_2O_3{\cdot}4TiO_2$ composition varied from spherical grains to needlelike grains with increasing sintering temperature. With increasing $Nd_2O_3$, the optimum sintering temperature with maximum density increased, and the dielectric constant(${\varepsilon}_r$) and quality factor(Q) decreased due to the formation of secondary phases. With increasing $TiO_2$, the optimum sintering temperature and the dielectric constant decreased with increased Q value. And the temperature coefficient of resonant frequency, ${\tau}_f$ shifted toward positive direction. The dielectric ceramics with $BaO/Nd_2O_3=1$ showed Q values of above 2000 and dielectric constants of above 80 at 3GHz.

  • Effects of powder sintering and 2nd, pressing on the superconducting characteristics in the (Bi,Pb)SrCaCuO system have been studied. The sample prepared by the powder sintering process had a porous microstructure with a $T_c$ below 77 K, while the sample prepared by 2nd. pressing process had highly oriented microstructure with a $T_c$ above 100 K. The critical current density($J_c$) was relatively improved in the sample prepared by the 2nd. pressing process. But the value of $J_c$ is cosiderably low in practical use.

  • $BaO-Nd_2O_3-TiO_2$계 유전체 세라믹스에 lithium borosilicate계 유리를 첨가하여 저온소결특성과 마이크로파 유전특성을 조사하였다. 유리 프릿을 10∼l3 wt%의 범위로 첨가함으로서 순수한 $BaO-Nd_2O_3-TiO_2$계 세라믹스의 소결온도($1300^{\circ}C$)보다 현저히 낮은 850∼$900^{\circ}C$의 온도범위에서 상대밀도 97%이상의 소결체를 얻을 수 있었다. 10 wt%의 유리 프릿을 첨가함으로서 85$0^{\circ}C$의 소성온도에서 유전율($\epsilon_r$)54 및 품질계수($Q{\times}f$)2400 GHz그리고 공진주파수의 온도계수($\tau_f$)는 $+8ppm/^{\circ}C$으로서 우수한 유전 특성을 가지는 소결체를 얻을 수 있었다.

Improved Densification and Microwave Dielectric Properties of BaO·Nd2O3·5TiO2 Modified with an Iso-Component Borate Glass

  • [ $BaO{\cdot}Nd_2O_3{\cdot}5TiO_2$ ] (BNT) ceramics modified with a borate glass containing Ba, Nd and Ti as glass constituents were investigated with regard to their sintering behavior and microwave dielectric properties. An addition of iso-component glass significantly improved the sinterabilty of the BNT ceramics and lowered the sintering temperature. A maximum density of $5.29\;g/cm^3$ and an x-y shrinkage of 17% were obtained for BNT ceramics containing 10wt.% of the glass sintered at $1100^{\circ}C$. The dielectric composition without the glass additive was only slightly densified at $1100^{\circ}C$. The resulting sample exhibited two crystalline phases, $BaNd_2Ti_5O_{14}$ and $Ba_2Ti_9O_{20}$, regardless of sintering temperature and glass content. When >10wt.% glass was added, exaggerated grain growth with a less uniform microstructure was found, resulting in the subsequent reduction of the fired density and the dielectric properties. BNT ceramics containing 10wt.% of the isocomponent glass sintered at $1100^{\circ}C$ for 4 h showed promising dielectric properties of k = 71.3 and Q = 1,330.
