To evaluate the bind rate and behavior of two types chloride ion-one is the chloride ion added in mixture when un-washed sea sand is used as fine aggregate, one is the chloride ion admitted in the new version of concrete standard specification, pore solution extracted in cement paste were analyzed. The results are follow. 1 As passing the time, the chloride concentration in the pore solution decreases with the Increase in the chloride content absorbed by the hydrate products. As compared with chloride contents in mixing water, the bound ratio of chloride at 49 days is 64∼90%. 2. The bound ratio of chloride in cement paste considering evaporable water as pore solution is obtained. In case of Pl∼P3(added chloride content wt of cement 0.046∼0.16 %), the bound ratio of chloride is 91.8∼93.5 %. P4(added chloride wt of cement 0.3%) is 89.1%, but P5(added chloride wt of cement 0.617%) bound is only 77%. 3. The bound ratio of chloride to wt of cement is 0.015∼0.475% with adding chloride. In case chloride added over 0.091 % wt of cement, the bound chloride content increases 1.7∼1.8 times in spite of added chloride increase twice. The bound ratio of chloride to wt of cement decreased with the increase in the chloride content. 4. The more increase added chloride content, the more increase the bound ration of chloride. But the absolute value of chloride content in pore solution increased.
A new application of dirchroic mirror for the improvement of luminance and luminous efficacy in an AC-Plasma Display Panel (PDP) is suggested. Only about half of the Vacuum Ultraviolet (VUV) generated in the reflective PDP cell is used for the excitation of the phosphor. We are suggesting an idea of adopting a dichroic mirror which can reflect the VUV toward the phosphor which otherwise is absorbed by the front panel. The optical constants of the thin films of dirhroic mirror were determined from the photometric measurements through an iteration process of matching calculated and measured values of the reflectance and transmittance in the VUV wavelength region. From these results, we could design such a filter whose high reflection zone is centered at 147nm by a computer simulation accurately. The 147nm VUV is radiated from Xenon 3Pl state which is dominantly used to activate the phosphor in the PDP cell. The dichroic mirror was made with an electronbeam evaporator and its reflectance was measured by a reflectometer. We confirmed the usefulness of the dichroic mirror for the improvement of efficiency with experiments done by test panels. The panel with mirror shows improved luminance and luminous efficacy by 20∼30%.

Nanostructured high strength metastable Al-, Mg- and Ti-based alloys containing different amorphous, quasicrystalline and nanocrystalline phases are synthesized by non-equilibrium processing techniques. Such alloys can be prepared by quenching from the melt or by powder metallurgy techniques. This paper focuses on one hand on mechanically alloyed and ball milled powders containing different volume fractions of amorphous or nano-(quasi)crystalline phases, consolidated bulk specimens and, on the other hand. on cast specimens containing different constituent phases with different length-scale. As one example. $Mg_{55}Y_{15}Cu_{30}$- based metallic glass matrix composites are produced by mechanical alloying of elemental powder mixtures containing up to 30 vol.% $Y_2O_3$ particles. The comparison with the particle-free metallic glass reveals that the nanosized second phase oxide particles do not significantly affect the glass-forming ability upon mechanical alloying despite some limited particle dissolution. A supercooled liquid region with an extension of about 50 K can be maintained in the presence of the oxides. The distinct viscosity decrease in the supercooled liquid regime allows to consolidate the powders into bulk samples by uniaxial hot pressing. The $Y_2O_3$ additions increase the mechanical strength of the composites compared to the $Mg_{55}Y_{15}Cu_{30}$ metallic glass. The second example deals with Al-Mn-Ce and Al-Cu-Fe composites with quasicrystalline particles as reinforcements, which are prepared by quenching from the melt and by powder metallurgy. $Al_{98-x}Mn_xCe_2$ (x =5,6,7) melt-spun ribbons containing a major quasicrystalline phase coexisting with an Al-matrix on a nanometer scale are pulverized by ball milling. The powders are consolidated by hot extrusion. Grain growth during consolidation causes the formation of a micrometer-scale microstructure. Mechanical alloying of $Al_{63}Cu_{25}Fe_{12}$ leads to single-phase quasicrystalline powders. which are blended with different volume fractions of pure Al-powder and hot extruded forming $Al_{100-x}$$(Al_{0.63}Cu_{0.25}Fe_{0.12})_x$ (x = 40,50,60,80) micrometer-scale composites. Compression test data reveal a high yield strength of ${\sigma}_y{\geq}$700 MPa and a ductility of ${\varepsilon}_{pl}{\geq}$5% for than the Al-Mn-Ce bulk samples. The strength level of the Al-Cu-Fe alloys is ${\sigma}_y{\leq}$550 MPa significantly lower. By the addition of different amounts of aluminum, the mechanical properties can be tuned to a wide range. Finally, a bulk metallic glass-forming Ti-Cu-Ni-Sn alloy with in situ formed composite microstructure prepared by both centrifugal and injection casting presents more than 6% plastic strain under compressive stress at room temperature. The in situ formed composite contains dendritic hcp Ti solid solution precipitates and a few $Ti_3Sn,\;{\beta}$-(Cu, Sn) grains dispersed in a glassy matrix. The composite micro- structure can avoid the development of the highly localized shear bands typical for the room temperature defor-mation of monolithic glasses. Instead, widely developed shear bands with evident protuberance are observed. resulting in significant yielding and homogeneous plastic deformation over the entire sample.
Characteristics and enzyme activity comparison was made between urokinase isolated from urine and pro-urokinase separated from CHO(Chinese Hamster Ovary) cell culture broth. Both of purified urokinase and pro-urokinase resulted 54Kd single band in electrophoresis. Urokinase which was proved as a single molecule by gel filtration showed two separated 33Kd and 21Kd bands by 2-mercaptoethanol reduction. Isoelectric forcusing resulted same pl value of 8.6 for both of them. N-terminal amino acid sequence of urokinase after 159th Ile was Ile-Gly-Gly-Glu-Phe-Thr-Thr-Ile-Glu which was different from another N-terminal sequence of Ser-Asn-Glu-Leu-His-Gln-Val-Pro-Ser-Asn. Thrombolytic activities of both of them were propotional to the enzyme concentration. Urokinase showed thrombolytic activities in an short period of reaction time. Pro-urokinase, however, showed high thrombolytic activity for 2 hours or longer period of reaction time.
Pork cutlets containing ginseng powder 1% + ginseng distillate 1%(P1/D1), ginseng powder 2%(P2), ginseng powder 1.5% + ginseng distillate 1.5%(P1.5/D1.5) and ginseng powder 3%(P3) were manufactured and compared with the control(no ginseng powder and distillates) in meat quality, sensory evaluation and flavor intensity. The L values were significantly lower and a values were significantly higher for pork cutlets containing ginseng additives as compared to the control. The pork cutlets containing ginseng powder and distillates were higher in hardness only at the beginning stage, but no significant differences in springness, cohesiveness and chewiness among the treatments were observed during storage at -20$^{\circ}C$ for 8 weeks. Flavor analysis indicated that spathulenol, panasinsanol, neointermedol and ginsenol were responsible for ginseng flavor. The sensory panels detected most intense ginseng flavor and taste for pork cutlet which contained combination mixtures of ginseng powder 1.5% and distillate 1.5%. In conclusion, sensory panels evaluated that ginseng distillates produced intense ginseng flavor and enhanced ginseng flavor when used as mixtures with ginseng powder. Therefore, ginseng distillates can be used as a natural antioxidant and flavor enhancer in pork products.

A fusion protein, consisting of a human epidermal growth factor as the recognition domain and human angiogenin as the toxin domain, can be used as a targeted therapeutic against breast cancer cells among others. The fusion protein was expressed as an inclusion body in recombinant E. coli, yet when the conventional solution-phase refolding process was used the refolding yield was very low due to severe aggregation, probably because of the opposite surface charge resulting from the vastly different pl values of each domain. Accordingly the solid-phase refolding process, which exploits the ionic interactions between a solid matrix and the protein, was tried, however the ionic binding yield was also very low regardless of the resins and pH conditions used. Therefore, to provide a higher affinity toward the solid matrix, six Iysine residues were tagged to the N-terminus of the hEGF domain. When cation exchange resins, such as heparin- or CM-Sepharose, were used as the matrix, the adsorption capacity increased 2.5~3-fold and the subsequent refolding yield increased nearly 15-fold compared to the conventional process. A similat result was also obtained when an Ni-NTA metal affinity resin was used.

Quantum wells infrared photodetectors (QWIPs) have been used to detect infrared radiations through the principle based on the localized stated in quantum wells (QWs) [1]. The mature III-V compound semiconductor technology used to fabricate these devices results in much lower costs, larger array sizes, higher pixel operability, and better uniformity than those achievable with competing technologies such as HgCdTe. Especially, GaAs/AlGaAs QWIPs have been extensively used for large focal plane arrays (FPAs) of infrared imaging system. However, the research efforts for increasing sensitivity and operating temperature of the QWIPs still have pursued. The modification of heterostructures [2] and the various fabrications for preventing polarization selection rule [3] were suggested. In order to enhance optical performances of the QWIPs, double barrier quantum well (DBQW) structures will be introduced as the absorption layers for the suggested QWIPs. The DBWQ structure is an adequate solution for photodetectors working in the mid-wavelength infrared (MWIR) region and broadens the responsivity spectrum [4]. In this study, InGaAs/GaAs/AlGaAs double barrier quantum well infrared photodetectors (DB-QWIPs) are successfully fabricated and characterized. The heterostructures of the InGaAs/GaAs/AlGaAs DB-QWIPs are grown by molecular beam epitaxy (MBE) system. Photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy is used to examine the heterostructures of the InGaAs/GaAs/AlGaAs DB-QWIP. The mesa-type DB-QWIPs (Area : $2mm{\times}2mm$) are fabricated by conventional optical lithography and wet etching process and Ni/Ge/Au ohmic contacts were evaporated onto the top and bottom layers. The dark current are measured at different temperatures and the temperature and applied bias dependence of the intersubband photocurrents are studied by using Fourier transform infrared spectrometer (FTIR) system equipped with cryostat. The photovoltaic behavior of the DB-QWIPs can be observed up to 120 K due to the generated built-in electric field caused from the asymmetric heterostructures of the DB-QWIPs. The fabricated DB-QWIPs exhibit spectral photoresponses at wavelengths range from 3 to $7{\mu}m$. Grating structure formed on the window surface of the DB-QWIP will induce the enhancement of optical responses.
Anti-angiogenesis and anti-cell adhesion effects were investigated with different dose of Camellia japonica leaf (CJL) extract for applying anti-cancer, anti-metastasis and anti-obesity. Cytotoxicity on HUVECs was very low at 200 ug/mL of CJL-extract. Anti-angiogenic ratio at increasing dose of 1.5 ug/mL, 3.0 ug/mL, 15 ug/mL and 30 ug/mL was showed 30.7%, 38.5%, 53.8%, and 70.0%, respectively. Also, anti-cell adhesion effect at concentration of $50{\mu}g{/well},\;100{\mu}g{/well}\;and\;200{\mu}g{/well}$ was expressed on E-selectin by 46.7%, 66.7%, and 86.76%, on VCAM-1, 23.0%, 61.5%, and 84.6%, and on ICAM-1, 11%, 55.5%, and 88.8%, respectively. For inquiring anti-angiogenesis mechanism, when western blot was performed with different dose of CJL extract, signal molecules of VEGFR-2, $\beta$-catenin and PI3-K were suppressed. As the signal transduction from VEGFR-2, $\beta$-catenin and PI3-K to NF-${\kappa}$B was interupted, angiogenesis could not be occurred causing not activated NF-kB. C. japonica leaf (CJL) is a useful herb for developing therapeutics of angiogenesis related diseases such as cancer, metastasis, rheumathioid arthritis and obesity.
Top synthetic spin valves with structure Ta/NiFe/CoFe/Cu/CoFe(P1)/Ru/CoFe(P2)/FeMn/Ta on Si(100) substrate with natural oxide were prepared by dc magnetron sputtering system, and investigated on the magnetoresistance properties and effective exchange bias field. As the thickness of FeMn increased above 150 $\AA$, MR ratio was decreased due to the current shunting effect. As the thickness of free layer decreased below 40$\AA$, MR ratio was reduced rapidly. In case of 40 $\AA$ thick of free layer, spin valve film with a structure Si(100)/Ta(50 $\AA$)/NiFe(27 $\AA$)/CoFe(13 $\AA$)/Cu(26 $\AA$)/CoFe(30 $\AA$)/Ru(7 $\AA$)/CoFe(15 $\AA$)/FeMn(100 $\AA$)/Ta(50 $\AA$) exhibited maximum MR ratio of 7.5 % and an effective exchange bias field of 600 Oe, respectively. Thickness difference dependence in this synthetic spin valve structure on effective exchange field was investigated and interpreted by the analytical method. It should be noted that thickness increase of CoFe(P 1) and decrease of CoFe(P2) in synthetic antiferromagnet leaded to the decrease in effective exchange bias field by experimentally and analytically.

Bulk GaN single crystal with 1.5 mm thickness was successfully grown by hydride vapor phase epitaxy (HVPE) technique. Free-standing GaN substrates of $10{\times}10,\;15{\times}15$ mm size were fabricate after lift-off of sapphire substrate and their optical properties were characterized properties for device applications. X-ray diffraction patterns showed (002) and (004) peak, and the FWHM of the X-ray rocking curve (XRC) measurement in (002) was 98 arcsec. A sharp photoluminescence spectrum at 363 nm was observed and defect spectrum at visible range was not detected. The hexagonal-shaped etch-pits are formed on the GaN surface in $200^{\circ}C\;H_3PO_4$ at 5 minutes. The defect density calculated from observed etch-pits on surface was around $5{\times}10^6/cm^2$. This indicates that the fabricated GaN substrates can be used for applications in the field of optodevice, and high power electronics.
