Various 2D Shape deformation techniques has been presented recently. Concerning intuitive control of deformation, gradient domain 2D deformation techniques have an advantage over FFD(Free-form deformation) approaches, since they can deform objects with less control points. However, semantic shape properties such as thickness or length are difficult to handle in these approaches due to they treat the whole shape as a simple flat shape without structural meaning. In this paper, we propose a 2D shape deformation algorithm that deforms shapes using thin, deformable skeletal structure called freeform deformation axis (FDA). This concept separates the target shape and the deformable structure and thus enables user to manipulate shapes more intuitively.
2D input data have to be converted into 3D data by means of some functions and menu system in 2D input modeling system. But data in 3D input system for virtual spatial design can be directly connected to the 3D modeling data. Nevertheless, efficient surface modeling and deformation algorithm for the 3D input modeling system are not proposed yet. In this paper, problems of conventional NURBS surface deformation methods which can occur when applied in the 3D input modeling system are introduced. And NURBS surface deformation by 3D target curves, in which the designer can easily approach, are suggested. Designer can efficiently implement the virtual spatial sketching and design by using the proposed deformation algorithm.

This paper presents 3D collision deformation modelling methodologies using photogrammetry for reconstruction of vehicle accidents. A vehicle's deformation shape in collision provides important information on how the vehicle collided. So effective measurement(scanning) and construction of a corresponding appropriate model are essential in the analysis of collision deformation shape for obtaining much information related to collision accident. Two measurement methods were used in this study: Indirect-photogrammetry which requires relatively small amount of photos or videos, and direct-photogrammetry which requires large amount of photos directly taken for the purpose of 3D modelling. When the indirect-photogrammetry method, which was mainly used in this study, lacked enough photographic information, already secured 2D numerical deformation data was used as a compensation. This made 3D collision deformation modelling for accident reconstruction analysis possible.

This study develops tight-fitting torso patterns for performance garments by taking into account the skin deformation generated directly from a 3D scan during arm movements. The skin deformation caused during the arm movements was scanned after scanning the skin surface stamped with a circle. To create a torso pattern in response to skin deformation, the ratio and direction of the skin deformation were first measured and analyzed so that the 3D human body could be segmented. After translating, the 3D skin surface was segmented into 2D flat patterns, designing nude patterns and reducing them as well as tight-fitting shirts: the skin deformation segment shirts were made in response to the skin deformation. The features of the fabric deformation and the garment pressure were analyzed and evaluated. In comparison with a clothing construction segment shirt, the diameter of the skin deformation segment shirt was smaller as well the ratios of extension and reduction was less. The garment pressure of the skin deformation segment shirt was higher. The skin deformation segment shirt fitted more tightly compared to a clothing construction segment shirt as it covered the body more thoroughly and was as comfortable as the other shirts with less fabric deformation made as the body moved.

As ship condition inspection technology has been developed, research on collecting, analyzing, and diagnosing condition information has become active. In ships, related research has been conducted, such as analyzing, detecting, and classifying major hull failures such as cracks and corrosion using 2D and 3D data information. However, for geometric deformation such as indents and bulges, 2D data has limitations in detection, so 3D data is needed to utilize spatial feature information. In this study, we aim to detect hull structural deformation positions. It builds a specimen based on actual hull structure deformation and acquires a point cloud from a model scanned with a 3D scanner. In the obtained point cloud, deformation(outliers) is found with a combination of RANSAC algorithms that find the best matching model in the Octree data structure and dataset.
The Ogcheon and Joseon Supergroups are distributed in the Bonghwajae area, Jecheon-si, Chungcheongbuk-do, Korea which is located in the northeastern fore-end of the Ogcheon Metamorphic Zone. This paper researched the geological structures based on the geometric and kinematic characteristics and the forming sequence of the major multi-deformed rock and microstructures. Most of regional foliations are not the S0 bedding but the S0-1 composite foliations defined by the preferred orientation of stretching minerals, some are recognized as the S0-1-2 composite foliations by the preferred orientation of insoluble opaque minerals and cleavage lamella. The geological structures were formed at least by three phases of deformations i.e. NNE-SSW trending D1, E-W trending D2, N-S trending D3 compressions. The S0-1 composite foliation, which shows a similar zone-distribution trend of the constitution strata of the Ogcheon and Joseon Supergroups, trended WNW before D2 deformation, but it was reoriented into N-S which was parallel to the trend of S2 foliation by D2 deformation, and it was rearranged into NW, NE, N-S trends as it is now by D3 deformation. The structural characteristics of each deformation phase and the deformation history are very similar to those in the eastern domain of Busan area into which the Ogcheon and Joseon Supergroups in this area are extended as NNW trend. It is expected to be very valuable data in interpreting the tectonic evolution of the northeastern fore-end of the Ogcheon Metamorphic Zone.
In this paper, we study the effects of a deformation mapping on the resulting deformation d/BCK-algebra obtained via such a deformation mapping. Besides providing a method of constructing d-algebras from BCK-algebras, it also highlights the special properties of the standard BCK-algebras of posets as opposed to the properties of the class of divisible d/BCK-algebras which appear to be of interest and which form a new class of d/BCK-algebras insofar as its not having been identified before.

Thermal deformation, such as bending and twisting, occurs among the polymer parts of air-conditioner indoor units because of repetitive temperature change during heating operation. In this study, a numerical method employing finite-element analysis to efficiently simulate the thermal deformation of an assembly is proposed. Firstly, the displacement of an actual assembly produced by thermal deformation was measured using a 3D optical measurement system. The measurement results indicated a general downward sag of the assembly, and the maximum displacement value was approximately 1 mm. The temperature distribution was measured using a thermographic camera, and the results were used as initial-temperature boundary conditions to perform temperature-displacement analysis. The simulation results agreed well with the measured data. To reduce the thermal deformation, the stiffness increased 100%. As the results, the maximum displacement decreased by approximately 5.4% and the twisting deformation of the holder improved significantly.

In this paper, the theoretical tool displacement and surface roughness are analyzed based on the tool locus of a 2-dimensional tool vibrator. At first, the effects assuming no structural deformation of such variables as frequency, amplitude and phase difference that determine tool loci are simulated. The results show that larger amplitude and/or higher frequency makes better surface. However, a real tool vibrator has the structural deformation, much or less, depending on the excitation frequency. Applying FEM analysis to the deformation of a designed 2D tool vibrator according to the excitation, it has been proved that in this case the displacement is 5${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ at 1KHz and almost 0 at 20KHz even under the same excitation amplitude.
We report the results of structural field observation and measurement of anisotropy of magnetic susceptibility (AMS) of the diamictitic Hwanggangri Formation distributed in Chungju-Suanbo area of the Okchon Belt, Korea. The outcrops of the Hwanggangri Formation show two types of cleavage in general: slaty cleavage (SI) and crenulation cleavage (5z). 5] cleavage is, however, well observable only in the notheastem (NE) part of study area, while overwhelmed by 52 cleavage in the southwestern (5W) part, indicating stronger later deformation in 5W part of the study area. This partitioning of the study area is corroborated by both IRM and AMS parameters: NE part of the study area is characterized by higher IRM intensity, higher bulk magnetic susceptibility, higher AM5 degree, and by oblate shape of magnetic susceptibility ellipsoid. Their values become drastically lowered toward southwest, and reach to a stable minimum in the whole 5W part of the study area. In addition, degree of both metamorphism and deformation tends to increase gradually from northeast toward southwest and also from northwest toward southeast in the study area. Based on the distribution pattern of the principal axes ( $k_1, k_2, k_3$ axes) of magnetic anisotropy ellipsoids revealed in the NE part of the study area, three episodes of deformation ( $D_1, D_2, D_3$ ) are recognized: D_1$ deformation produced $S_2$ cleavage with NE-5W trend, which is caused by a strong NW-SE tlattening of a coaxial pure shear. $D_2$ deformation produced 5z cleavage characterized by a non-coaxial deformation. It was caused by a ductile or semi-ductile thrusting toward NW and concurrent sinistral shearing along $S_2$ cleavage plane. Lastly, $D_3$ deformation produced tlexural folding of all previous structures with a nearly horizontal NE fold axis. Distribution pattern of the principal axes of magnetic anisotropy ellipsoid from the SW part of the study area, on the other hand, does not show any coherency among sites or samples. We interpret that this dispersed pattern of $k_1, k_2, k_3$ axes together with lower anisotropy strength indicates that magnetic fabrics in the SW part have been disturbed either by a superposition of strong deformation/metamorphism or by a kind of reciprocal strain due to an overlapping of $D_1$ and $D_2$ or by both processes.
