The experiment was carried out to study the influence of planting densities and fertilizer application levels on some agronomic characters and yield of flower-head in Zingiber mioga ROSC. The results obtained are summarized as follows ; Plant hight was long in dense planting, and short in spacious planting. Stem diameter was thick in spacious planting, and was thin in dense planting. Flower-head weight per plant was decreased in dense planting and was increased in spacious planting. Yield was higher in dense planting densities (10$\times$20 : 50plants /m$^2$, 20$\times$20 : 25plant /m$^2$). Fertilizing (N : P$_2$O$_{5}$ : $K_2$O=15 : 15 : 15kg /10a) was increased than without fertilizing because plant height and number of stem was good.d.
Diabetes mellitus is associated with a wide range of pathophysiological in the kidney. This study was designed to examine the effects of high glucose concentration on IGF-I binding and glucose transporters in renal proximal tubule cells. The results were as follows : The binding of $^{125}I-IGF-I$ reached the peak at the 30 minutes and gradually decreased by the time dependent manner. The binding of $^{125}I-IGF-I$ was inhibited by the unlabelled IGF-I($10^{-14}{\sim}10^{-8}M$) in a concentration dependent manner. The relative affinity of IGF-I receptor for IGF-I, IGF-II and insulin exhibited typical type 1 binding(IGF-I > insulin > IGF-II). However IGF-II did not compete for the cultured cell membrane $^{125}I-IGF-I$ binding site at $10^{-14}{\sim}10^{-8}M$. Under optimal conditions, IGF-I binding to the membranes from 5mM and 20mM glucose treated cells was analyzed. It was found that 20mM glucose treated cells exhibited higher binding activity for IGF-I. In order to further substantiate this increase in IGF-I binding sites, we performed affinity-labelling studies. The cross-linked cell membrane subjected to SDS-PAGE; labelled material was detected by autoradiography. 20mM glucose treated cells exhibited higher levels. The initial rate of $methyl-{\alpha}-D-glucopyranoside({\alpha}-MG)$ uptake was significantly lower($74.41{\pm}6.71%$) in monolayers treated with 20mM glucose than those of 5mM glucose. However, 3-O-methyl-D-glucose(3-O-MG) uptake was not affected by glucose concentration in culture media. IGF-I significantly increased ${\alpha}-MG$ uptake in both 5mM and 20mM glucose treated cells. However, 3-O-MG uptake was not affected by IGF-I in both conditions. In conclusion, 20mM glucose increased binding sites of $^{125}I-IGF-I$, inhibited Na/glucose cotransporter activity. But 20mM glucose did not change facilitated glucose transporter.
To research the characteristics of ion currents induced by inhibitory and excitatory herbs of oriental medicine, we used nystatin-perforated patch clamp technique under voltage clamp condition in periaqueductal gray neuron dissociated from Sprauge-Dawley rat, 10-15 days old. The results are as follows. 1. Ion current induced by $10mg/m{\ell}$ of Bupleuri Radix was inhibited $59.50{\pm}4.29%$ by $10^{-4}M$ bicuculline(p>0.01) but inhibition of $10.75{\pm}4.77%$ by $10^{-4}M$ tubocurarine and $4.75{\pm}4.23%$ by $10^{-4}M$ verapamil had no statistical significance(p>0.05). So ion current induced by Bupleuri Radix revealed only GABA induced $Cl^-$ current, not acetylcholine and $Ca^{2+}$ current. 2. Ion current induced by $20mg/m{\ell}$ of Coptidis Rhizoma was inhibited $47.20{\pm}7.88%$ by $10^{-4}M$ bicuculline(p<0.01) but $3.20{\pm}2.33%$ inhibition by $10^{-4}M$ tubocurarine and $1.00{\pm}1.00%$ inhibition by $10^{-4}M$ verapamil had no significance(p>0.05). So ion current induced by Coptidis Rhizoma revealed only GABA induced $Cl^-$ current, not acetylcholine and $Ca^{2+}$ current. 3. Ion current induced by $20mg/m{\ell}$ of Ecliptae Herba was inhibited $55.00{\pm}4.92%$ by $10^{-4}M$ bicuculline (p<0.01), and also inhibited $15.00{\pm}4.26%$ by $10^{-4}M$ tubocurarine(p<0.05), but inhibition of $6.00{\pm}3.03%$ by $10^{-4}M$ verapamil had no significance(p>0.05). So ion current induced by Ecliptae Herba showed GABA activated $Cl^-$ current and acetylcholine activated cation current, not $Ca^{2+}$ current 4. Ion current induced by $5mg/m{\ell}$ of Liriopis Tuber was inhibited $15.20{\pm}4.57%$ by $10^{-4}M$ bicuculline<0.05) and also inhibited $14.00{\pm}3.00%$ by $10^{-4}M$ tubocurarine(p<0.05), but inhibition of $5.20{\pm}4.80%$ by $10^{-4}M$ verapamil had no significance(p>0.05). So ion current induced by Liriopis Tuber showed GABA. activated $Cl^-$ current and acetylcholine activated cation current, not $Ca^{2+}$ current. 5. Ion current induced by $5mg/m{\ell}$ of Aconiti Tuber was inhibited $97.00{\pm}1.34%$ by $10^{-4}M$ bicuculline(p<0.01), $80.00{\pm}9.83%$ by $10^{-4}M$ tubocurarine(p<0.01), and $24.00{\pm}6.18%$ by $10^{-4}M$ verapamil(p<0.05). So ion current induced by Aconiti Tuber revealed GABA activated $Cl^-$ current and acetylcholine activated cation current and $Ca^{2+}$ current. 6. Ion current induced by $10mg/m{\ell}$ of Zingiberis Rhizoma was inhibited $33.00{\pm}7.43%$ by $10^{-4}$ bicuculline(p<0.05), $10.20{\pm}1.83%$ by $10-^{-4}M$ tubocurarine(p<0.01), and $14.00{\pm}2.16%$ by $10^{-4}M$ verapamil(p<0.01) So ion current induced by Zingiberis Rhizoma revealed GABA activated $Cl^-$ current and acetylcholine activated cation outtent and $Ca^{2+}$ current. 7. Ion current induced by $10mg/m{\ell}$ of Boshniakiae Herba was inhibited $65.00{\pm}13.75%$ by $10^{-4}M$ bicuculline(p<0.05), $38.00{\pm}9.24%$ by $10^{-4}M$ tubocurarine(p<0.05), and $33.25{\pm}7.42%$ by $10^{-4}M$ verapamiHp<0.05). So ion current induced by Bpshniakiae Herba revealed GABA activated $Cl^-$ current and acetylcholine activated cation current and $Ca^{2+}$ current. These results suggest that a point of difference between inhibitory and excitatory herbs is existence of$Ca^{2+}$ current.

On protein equivalence base, fishmeal (FM) was replaced by lysine cell mass (LCM) in selected different diets in Korean rockfish, Sebastes schlegeli (Hilgendorf) Eight experimental diets were formulated to contain 100% FM (LC $M_{0}$), 90% FM+10% LCM (LC $M_{10}$),80% FM+20% LCM (LC $M_{20}$), 70% FM+30% LCM (LC $M_{30}$), 60% FM+40% LCM (LC $M_{40}$ ), 70% FH+30% LCM+lysine (LC $M_{+Lys}$), 60% FM+40% LCM+lysine (LC $M_{40+Lys}$), and 50% FM+50% LCM+lysine (LC $M_{50+Lys}$). Experimental individuals of the fish (12.6 g) were randomly fed on one of the experimental diets. After 6 weeks of feeding trial, weight gain (WG) and feed efficiency (FE) of fish fed LC $M_{0}$ diet was significantly (P〈0.05) higher than those of fish fed LC $M_{20}$, LC $M_{30}$, LC $M_{40}$ , LC $M_{30+Lys}$, LC $M_{40+Lys}$, and LC $M_{50+Lys}$ diets, however, there was no significant difference in WG of fish fed LC $M_{0}$ and LC $M_{10}$ diets. Supplementation of lysine has no effect on WG. There was no significant difference in condition factor (CF) of fish fed LC $M_{0}$, LC $M_{10}$ and LC $M_{20}$ diets. Hemoglobin (Hb) of fish fed LC $M_{0}$, LC $M_{10}$, LC $M_{20}$, LC $M_{30}$, LC $M_{40}$ , LC $M_{30+Lys}$, and LC $M_{40+Lys}$, diets were not significantly different from each other. No significant differences were observed in hematocrit (PCV) and hepatosomatic index (HSI) among all dietary treatments. Apparent digestibility of dry matter (ADM) and protein (ADP) of diets significantly decreased with increase in dietary LCM level, though there was no difference in ADM and ADP between LC $M_{0}$ and LC $M_{10}$. These results indicate that LCM could replace up to 10% of fishmeal in Korean rockfish diets.ish diets.iets.ish diets.s.ish diets.
A primary standard of ac current at low frequency is derived from the standard of dc current by ac-dc transfer instrument. A set of 15 thermal current converters(TCCs) have been constructed as the primary current standards from 5 mA to 20 A at the frequency range of 10 Hz to 100 kHz. It is evaluated that the uncertainties for the maintenance and dissemination of ac current standard are less than 52 ppm up to 20 mA and 20 kHz, 60 ppm up to 100 mA and 20 kHz, and rising to 200 ppm at higher currents and frequencies.

Strain HY701 was isolated from human feces for probiotic use by selecting highly resistant isolates to artificial gastric acid and bile acid. Strain HY701 was identified as Lactobacillus reuteri using 16S rDNA sequencing, and tentatively named L. reuteri HY701. The resistance of L. reuteri HY701 to artificial gastric acid (PH 2.5) was high with a survival rate of over 90%. L. reuteri HY701 also showed high tolerance to artificial bile acid after incubation in artificial gastric acid. Using the API ZYM test kit, the carcinogenic enzymes (${\beta}$-glucuronidase and (${\beta}$-glucosidase were not detected with L. reuteri HY70l, while the beneficial enzyme (${\beta}$-galactosidase was weakly detected. L. reuteri HY701 was sensitive to $100\;{\mu}g/mL$ nisin, $20\;{\mu}g/mL$ roxithromycin, $15\;{\mu}g/mL$ erythromycin, but resistant to $20\;{\mu}g/mL$ streptomycin, $10\;{\mu}g/mL$ tetracycline, $20\;{\mu}g/mL$ ciprofloxacin, $20\;{\mu}g/mL$ nystatin, $20\;{\mu}g/mL$ gentamycin, $10\;{\mu}g/mL$ doxycycline, $10\;{\mu}g/mL$ chloramphenicol, and $20\;{\mu}g/mL$ ampicillin. L. reuteri HY701 was shown to possess bactericidal activity as it inhibited the growth of Listeria monocytogenes ATCC 19111 and Escherichia coli JM109 completely within 24 hr of incubation. These results indicate that L. reuteri HY701 could be used as a probiotic strain.

A 3-dimensional model of curved steel box girder bridges without diaphragm was presented. This model yielded results that were consistent with those of the parameter analysis using the BEF and Ritz methods. Se veralmodels with diaphragms were analyzed to estimate the appropriate diaphragm spacing. In case of 50m span, models A-10, A-20, A-30, B-10, B-20, and B-30 were found to have 5(8.3m), 7(6.25m), 8(5.5m), 4(10m), 6(7.1m), and 7(6.25m) diaphragms, respectively. In addition, a formula that presents the ratio of distortional stress to bending stresswas created from the results of the 3-dimensional FEM model analysis.
This experiment was carried out to obtain a hybrid with potent ethanol fermenting ability, by means of protoplast fusion between a thermophilic strain (D-71) of Saccharomyces cerevisiae and an osmotolerant strain (SR-S) of Zygosaccharomyces rouxii. The conditions for formation of protoplasts from both strains and for their fusion and regeneration were studied. Favorable conditions for formation of protoplasts from Saccharomyces cerevisiae D-71 were : treatment of the cells at late-exponential phase with 2-mercaptoethanol (l% v/v) for 10 minutes in the presence of 0.5M sorbitol, then incubation for 60 minutes in the set medium containing Zymolyase-20T (4mg/$m\ell$) ; and from Zygosaccharomyces rouxii SR-S were : treatment of the cells at mid-exponential phase with 2-mercaptoethanol (1% v/v) for 10 minutes in the presence of 0.5M or 1M mannitol, then incubation for 120 minutes in the set medium containing Zymolyase-20T(4mg/$m\ell$). The protoplasts of parental cells were fused in the presence of 20mM CaCl$_2$, 0.5M sorbitol and 40% of polyethyleneglycol (M.W 4000), then fusants obtained were selected as regenerated colonies which embedded and grown in the minimal medium containing 3% of agar. The frequencies of fusant formation were 1.2$\times$10$^{-6}$ to 9.1$\times$10$^{-6}$ for the regenerated protoplast.
Plant growth promoting ability of Methylobacterium oryzae CBMB20 was evaluated under different levels of organic fertilizer application on red pepper plants in a pot experiment. Oil cake as an organic N fertilizer was applied at the rates of 70, 85, 100 and 120% of the conventional recommended level. Each treatment was further treated with or without M. oryzae CBMB20 inoculation. The recommended amount of compost for red pepper was added in all the treatments. Results revealed that plant height, dry biomass and fruit yield were enhanced in increasing order as the rate of fertilization increased. Overall plant growth was improved due to the inoculation of M. oryzae CBMB20 and red pepper fruit yield was also increased by 10-35% in the plants inoculated with M. oryzae CBMB20 at different rates of organic fert1izer application. Total methylotrophic bacterial population in rhizosphere soil measured at the time of harvest was significantly higher in M. oryzae CBMB20 inoculated treatments. The growth promoting effect of M. oryzae CBMB20 found in red pepper could be due to the effective colonization of the bacteria in the rhizosphere and its ability of enhancing nutrient availability and producing plant growth hormones. With the plant growth promoting effect of M. oryzae CBMB20, the rate of organic fertilizer application can be reduced without any significant decreases in biomass production and yield of red pepper.
The small and medium sprayer has developed to spray well fruit trees and roadside trees with pesticides for pests control within 60 meters. This study was carried out to analyze and evaluate its performance using image processing. While it sprayed with pesticides on the area of 20m in width and 60m in length, it was experimented 5 places by 5m from 0 to 25m width and 6 places by 10m from 10 to 60m length. The experimental image data of each sheet on places were averaged after binarization process. According to the image data, it was sprayed on all working area. However, when sprayer moved 0.3m/s velocity, the place at 15m of width and 30m of length was sprayed more than any other sprayed area, but the place at 15m of width and 60m of length was sprayed less.
