Feeding Habits of Hippocampus mohnikei in an Eelgrass (Zostera marina) Bed (동대만 잘피밭에 서식하는 산호해마의 식성)

  • Feeding habits of Hippocampus mohnikei (4.1~10.4 cm SL) collected from an eelgrass bed in Dongdae Bay, Korea were studied. H. mohnikei was a carnivore fish which consumed mainly gammarid amphipods. Its diets also included a small amount of caprellid amphipods, tanaids, copepods, mysids, and eelgrass. Gammarid amphipods were the most important prey organisms to the diet of all size classes of H. mohnikei despite smaller H. mohnikei (<4.5 cm SL) fed copepods. H. mohnikei fed on larger sizes of prey as their size increased. The dietary breadth of H. mohnikei were decreased with increasing their size.

  • KBS and ETRI have co-developed an advanced DOCR(Digital On Channel Repeater) which has an equalization and pre-distortion function and can be operated properly under lower isolation of reception and transmission antennas. Field tests of the DOCR were performed twice in Suwon area in 2004 and 2005. This paper summarizes the characteristics of the DOCR system and field test results in Suwon. The changes in DOCR coverage according to the different generations of ATSC DTV receivers were also analyzed. Basic concept to apply the DOCR system in DTV broadcasting networks in Korea is suggested through test results.

The Research & Trend Analysis for Korean Clothing and Textiles Area Against Old Ages - 1995~2005 - (국내 의류학 분야의 노년기 남녀를 대상으로 한 연구 경향분석 - 1995년부터 2005년까지 -)

  • In order to check ordinary trend of a research for old ages, it was collected and analyzed against old ages. Out of a research papers from 1995 to 2005 issued for 6 scientific journals in clothing and textiles areas which were listed on KOREA RESEARCH FOUNDATION. The results were as follows. First, the research papers for 11 years from surveyed scientific journals were totally 5,711 papers, and It were only 71 papers for old ages to be reviewed and surveyed, which slightly occupied 1.24% from whole papers. Second, yearly ranges of research paper against old ages were shown to be down-trend, as it recorded 2.75% in 1995, however it falls on 0.77% in terms of the increasing aspect of clothing and textiles research paper numbers. Third, a paper for each research areas ranged in turn, as clothing construction, fashion merchandising socio-psychology of clothing, etc. If we see in detail area, the research for somatotype and role occupied 37.4% from all researches against old ages. Accordingly it needs more various kinds of study. Fourth, The Koreav Society of Clothing and Textiles paper occupied 40.8% from whole scientific journals, which was obviously shown. Fifth, each sex distribution for researched old ages noted almost old women (77.5%), but cover 9.9% for old men. Therefore it required much more researches for old men, we thought.

Relationship between Asian Dust and Asthma Disease in Seoul during 2005~2008 (황사현상이 천식질환에 미치는 영향도 분석: 2005년부터 2008년 서울지역을 중심으로)

  • This study investigates the relationship between Asian dust and asthma disease in Seoul, using data of Asian dust occurrences and the number of treatments for asthma between 2005 and 2008. The data include the number of treatments for asthma on the basic day paired with the average number of treatments for asthma on the compared days. The compared day is defined by the day of no Asian dust in same month and day of the week as the basic day, when Asian dust occurs. Also, the basic day is expanded to the day after three days from the day of Asian dust. The paired two sample t-test for the number of treatments for asthma on the basic day and the compared days revealed that the Asian dust occurrences are correlated with the asthma disease. The number of treatments for asthma is significantly increased on the one and two days after Asian dust occurs. On the other hand, there's no significant difference in the number of treatments for asthma between the days of Asian dust occurrence and the days of no Asian dust, which implies that people usually try not to go out when Asian dust occurs.

  • This study analyzed the characteristics of the wind waves near the Korean marginal seas in the 2002 - 2005 year using the third generation wave model, WAVEWATCH - III model. In order to investigate the model performance, model results were compared with the marine meteorological observation results. The 4 years average correlation coefficient between model and observation shows very high value of about 0.77. The model of this study represents very well the characteristics of wind waves near the Korean marginal seas. Simulated monthly sea surface winds and wind waves show the evident spatial variations and this model also simulates very well seasonal characteristics of wind waves in this region.

  • The seismological observation of Korea began in 1905, and has been run with continuous earthquake network of observation, expanding to the advanced country, but still has some problems in accuracy and speed for report. There are many problems to issue the early warning system for earthquakes and Tsunami in the East Sea because most events in the East Sea occur outside the seismic network. Therefore multi-waveform data conversion and composition from the surrounding countries such as Korea, Japan and Far East Russia are requested in order to more accurate determination of earthquake parameters. We used FESNET(Far East Seismic Network) technology to analyze 2004 May 29th Uljin Earthquake and 2005 March 20th Japanese Fukuoka Earthquake in this research, using the data of KMA, Japan stations and IRIS(4 station).

A Study on the Graduate School Curriculum of the Department of Libraries and Information Sciences in Korea (국내 문헌정보학과 대학원 교과과정에 대한 연구)

  • This study analyzes the changes in the mastes and doctoral programme for 15 years from 2005 to 2020, with 3 to 4 year interval. Based on the results, it provides a fundamental date in order to research the syllabus systematically, to understand the curriculum flow and how to implement it to educate globally competitive experts in information. Primarily, when compares the variable proportion of the number of the school subjects in 2017 and 2020 that assumed from the result, it is decreased by 3.70% and the only field that showed an increased rate was Archives & Records Management by 3.33%. The result showed a decrease in Bibliography (-11.65%), Information science (-4.89%), Business administraion of Libraries·Information centre (-3.62%), General Libraries and Informarion sciences (-3.13%), Information Services (-4.10%), and Information organizaion studies manifested no change in the number of subjects. Furthermore, Information science is offered the highest at 25.15% in 2020, and it showed that was opened in order of Business administraion of Libraries·Information centre (21.30%), Information Services (15.05%), General Libraries and Informarion sciences(12.35%), Information organizaion studies (11.27%), Bibliography (7.95%), Archives& Records Management (6.94%).

A Study on Securities of Cryptosystems for Hierarchic Groups (위계집단에서 효율적인 암호계의 안전성에 관한 소고)

  • A cryptography for enforcing hierarchic groups in a system where hierarchy is represented by a partially ordered set was introduced by Akl et al. But the key generation algorithm of Akl et al. is infeasible when there is a large number of users. To overcome this shortage, in 1985, MacKinnon et al. proposed a paper containing a condition which prevents cooperative attacks and optimizes the assignment. In 2005, Kim et al. proposed the key management systems for using one-way hash function, RSA algorithm, poset dimension and Clifford semigroup in the context of modern cryptography, the key management system using Clifford semigroup of imaginary quadratic non-maximal orders. We, in this paper, show that Kim et al. cryptosystem is insecure in some reasons and propose a revised cryptosystem.

Citation Trend and Suggestions for Improvement of Impact Factor of Journal of Korean Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology (대한방사선종양학회지의 학술인용 변화 추이 및 학술 영향력 지수 개선을 위한 제안: 한국의학학술지 인용색인 자료 분석)

  • $\underline{Purpose}$: To analyze the recent citation trend and to find a way to improve impact factor (IF) of the Journal of Korean Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology (JKSTRO) by analysis of Korean Medical Citation Index (KoMCI) citation data of JKSTRO and comparison with that of mean citation data of all journals enlisted on KoMCI (KoMCI journals) during 2000-2005. $\underline{Materials\;and\;Methods}$: All citation data of entire journals enlisted on KoMCI and JKSTRO from 2000 to 2005 were obtained from KoMCI. The trend of total and annual number of published articles and reference citations, total citations and self-citations per paper, IF and impact factor excluding self-citations (ZIF) were described and compared on both KoMCI journals and JKSTRO. $\underline{Results}$: Annual number of published articles was decreased for 6 years on both KoMCI journals and JKSTRO (32% and 38% reduction rate). The number of Korean journal references per article is 1.6 papers on JKSTRO comparing to 2.0 papers on KoMCI journals. The percentage of Korean references/total references increased from 5.0% in 2000 to 7.7% in 2005 on JKSTRO and from 8.5% in 2000 to 10.1% on KoMCI journals. The number of total citations received/paper on JKSTRO (average 1.333) is smaller than that of KoMCI journals (average 1.694), there was an increased rate of 67% in 2005 comparing to 2000. The percentage of self-citations/total citations (average 72%) on JKSTRO is slightly higher than that of KoMCI journals (average 61%). IF of JKSTRO was gradually improved and 0.144, 0.125, 0.088, 0.107, 0.187, and 0.203 in 2000-2005 respectively. However, ZIF of JKSTRO is steadily decreased from 0.038 in 2000 to 0.013 in 2005 except 0.044 in 2004. $\underline{Conclusion}$: IF of JKSTRO was slightly improved but had some innate problem of smaller number of citations received. To make JKSTRO as a highly cited journal, the awareness of academic status of JKSTRO and active participation of every member of JKSTRO including encouraging self-citations of papers published recent 2 years and submission of English written papers, and active academic cooperation with related academic societies.

Analysis of the Delineation Accuracy of Vegetation Type for the Information Reliability of the Biotope - Case Study of Seoul Biotope Map - (비오톱지도 신뢰도 판단을 위한 식생유형 공간구획의 정확성 고찰)

  • This study was accomplished for verifying the biotope field survey accuracy in the forests. Biotope data is used as the standard for the preservation and restoration of the urban ecosystem. The study area is the forests of Gwanak-gu, Seoul. For verifying accuracy, first we compared biotope field survey results between 2000 and 2005, second we compared between field survey results and satellite imagery. For comparing with satellite imagery, we delineated the evergreen-coniferous forests from imagery taken during winter season. As a result of comparison, the ratio of most actual vegetation types by delineated detail field surveys were matched around 92% between 2000 and 2005. But, between 2 field surveys, around 60% of total vegetation type was regionally matched. Evergreen-coniferous forests extracted by satellite imagery were regionally matched 69.4% of field survey result in 2000, and matched 80% of the result in 2005. If we consider the delineating errors from deciphering the picture, the results have high accuracy, especially 2005. The processes of verifying accuracy have not been proceeding in the part of delineating actual vegetation works. The verification of accuracy is important for the renewal process. Thus, the various verification methods will be studied and criteria should be developed for enhancing objectivity.
