  • The separation system of pharmacy and clinic has begun on the purpose of preventing drug misuse and abuse since July 1st of 2000. The system revealed some conflicts between doctors. pharmacists and consumers. Consequently pharmaceutical law and related policies undergone some change. Now in an early period of the implementation of the system, the necessity to examine relevance of those policies and law enforcement to medical doctors' prescriptions pattern evolves. This study tries to verify the pattern through a field study. For the purpose, 930 prescriptions collected in May of 2001, from a pharmacy located in Gangnam-gu in Seoul, were analysed. The prescriptions were issued from several clinics: 459 prescriptions from otorhinolaryngological clinic(ENT), 177 from internal medicine clinic(IM), 130 from ophthalmic clinic(Opt), 52 from obstetric and gynecologic clinic(OB & GY), and 112 from miscellaneous clinics. ENT, IM, Opt. OB & GY are situated in a clinic building of 40m distance. The general findings are following: 1) $88.8\%$ of the total patients came from 5clinics in nearby single clinic building. 2) Average prescribing days were 6.2 days and the average number of used drugs were 4.0 drugs, i.e. 2-4 times of WHO criteria 1-2 drugs. 3) Use of antibiotics in the oral administration drugs rated $71.8\%(WHO: \;22.7\%)$ 4) Use of injection rated $31.3\%(WHO:\;17.2\%)$ 5) $96.2\%$ of the patients use multiple antibiotics in the injection and oral administration together. 6) The patients had multiple disease : ENT patients 1.7 disease and 1M patients has 2.7 disease in average and several regular prescribing types evolved particularly in the ENT prescription. With this result we found that drugs. especially antibiotics are still abused a lot, and there were significant differences in the number of used drugs and prescrbing days between the clinics. It implies somes differences of the preparation work and time for pharmacists. And preparation can be done in advance by pharmacists' own efforts through noticing regular prescribing types. The study suggests the followings: 1) Patient counseling should be done to minimize the incidence of adverse events. 2) The enforcement of the standardized differential preparation price system should be reconsidered. 3) Preparation of typical regularly appeared prescription in advance. which is regarded as 'a prearranged work between doctors and pharmacists' and has been prohibited should be reconsidered. 4) Drug utilization review program should be established to prevent drugs abuse. especially antibiotics abuse.

  • There is a trade-off between read stability and writability under a full-/half-select condition in static random access memory (SRAM). Another trade-off in the minimum operating voltage between the read and write operation also exists. A new peripheral circuit for SRAM arrays, called a variation sensor, is demonstrated here to balance the read/write margins (i.e., to optimize the read/write trade-off) as well as to lower the minimum operation voltage for both read and write operations. A test chip is fabricated using an industrial 45-nm bulk complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) process to demonstrate the operation of the variation sensor. With the variation sensor, the word-line voltage is optimized to minimize the trade-off between read stability and writability ($V_{WL,OPT}=1.055V$) as well as to lower the minimum operating voltage for the read and write operations simultaneously ($V_{MIN,READ}=0.58V$, $V_{MIN,WRITE}=0.82V$ for supply voltage $(V_{DD})=1.1V$).

  • Generally, the optimal solution of assignment problem can be obtained by Hungarian algorithm of two-sided optimization with time complexity $O(n^4)$. This paper suggests one-sided optimal assignment and swap optimization algorithm with time complexity $O(n^2)$ can be achieve the goal of two-sided optimization. This algorithm selects the minimum cost for each row, and reassigns over-assigned to under-assigned cell. Next, that verifies the existence of swap optimization candidates, and swap optimizes with ${\kappa}-opt({\kappa}=2,3)$. For 27 experimental data, the swap-optimization performs only 22% of data, and 78% of data can be get the two-sided optimal result through one-sided optimal result. Also, that can be improves on the solution of best known solution for partial problems.

  • Measurement of the nonlinear optical coefficients is not an easy task since it requires complicated experimental setup and analysis. We suggest an easy way to estimate the relative nonlinear optical tensor components by direct measurement of the output powers of the second harmonic generation and spontaneous parametric down conversion experiments. The experiments were done in quasi-phase-matched type-0 as well as type-1 interactions at similar pump wavelengths in a 5% MgO-doped periodically poled $LiNbO_3$ crystal to obtain the ratio of the nonlinear optical tensor components $d_{33}/d_{31}$ in each experiment. The obtained ratios were then compared with the previously ascertained values [J. Opt. Soc. Am. B, 14, 2268-2294 (1997)].

  • Lack of sufficient battery capacity is one of the most important challenges impeding the development of wireless sensor networks (WSNs). Recent innovations in the areas of wireless energy transfer and rechargeable batteries have made it possible to advance WSNs. Therefore, in this article, we propose an energy-efficient charging of sensors in a WSN scenario. First, we have formulated the problem as an integer linear programming (ILP) problem. Then a utility function-based greedy algorithm named UGreedy/UF1 is proposed for solving the problem. Finally, the performance of UGreedy/UF1 is analyzed along with other baseline algorithms: UGreedy/UF2, 2-opt TSP, and Greedy TSP. The simulation results show that UGreedy/UF1 performs better than others both in terms of the deadline missing ratio of sensors and the total energy consumption of UAVs.

  • The cytotoxicity of 1,3-diphenylpropenone derivatives known to inhibit the farnesyl protein transferase (FPTase) was examined against various established tumor cell line, A549 (lung cancer), SKMEL-2 (uterine cancer), HCT-15 (skin cancer), SKOV-3 (brain cancer) and XF-498 (colon cancer) of the 1,3-diphenylpropenone derivatives showing farnesyl protein transferase (FPTase) inhibition activity. And the structure-activity relationship (SAR) between structure of 1,3-diphenylpropenone derivatives as substrate and cytotoxicity was investigated by Free-Wilson analysis as well as Hansch method with tumor cell lines. From the result of Free-Wilson analyses, X-substituents on the benzoyl group have a more important role than Y-substituents on the styryl group. The 2,4-dichloro substituent, 15 and 2,4-dimethyl substituent, 16 showed the highest cytotoxicity (average pI_(50)=5.0). Particulary, the cytotoxicity of X-substituents increased with electronic effect $({\sigma})$ due to weak electron withdrawing group with optimum value $({\sigma}_{opt}=0.22{\sim}0.29})$ whereas that of Y-substituent resulted from various factors such as logP, $B_1$ and R constant.

  • In this study, we compare and analyze the performance of three inventory management policies for raw material inventory management in a Precast Concrete production plant: Fixed Order Quantity Policy (FOQP), Fixed Order Interval Policy (FOIP), and (s, S) Ordering Policy (sSOP). In order to make more realistic conclusion, we developed and utilized the ARENA simulation model, a performance evaluation tool that considers the variance of raw material demand and supply for the entire production process in a PC production plant using multiple raw materials. For the three policies, reorder point, order quantity, target level, and order interval parameters were initialized by using Economic Order Quantity (EOQ) model and then optimized through OptQuest. As a result of optimization, inventory management costs were reduced by an average of 97.28% compared to the EOQ model that does not consider the variance of demand and supply. After setting three influencing factors, Project Occurrence Cycle (POC), Raw Material Lead-time (RML), and Unit Stock-out Cost (USC), a performance evaluation was conducted for the three policies. As a result of evaluation, the inventory management costs of FOQP and sSOP, which determine order intervals by considering inventory levels by real-time or daily, were 30.6% and 27.9% lower than FOIP with fixed order intervals respectively. In addition, inventory management costs were affected by RML and USC factors excluding POC, but the differences were 2.17% and 2.09% respectively, which were not large due to the optimization of parameters for responding the variance of raw material demand and supply.

  • The two dimensional quantitative structure-activity relationships (2D-QSARs) models concerning the binding affinity constants ($p[Od.]_{50}$) between 2-cyclohexyltetrahydropyrane and 2-cyclohexyltetrahydrofurane analogues as substrates, and bovine odorant binding protein (bOBP) as receptor were derived by multiple regression analyses method and discussed. The statistical quality of the optimized 2D-QSAR model (5) was good (r=0.907). From the model, the binding affinity constants ($p[Od.]_{50}$) were dependent upon the optimal value ($(TL)_{opt.}$=2.737) of total lipole (TL) of substrate molecules. Based on these findings, the high active compounds predicted by optimized 2D-QSAR model (5) were 2-(dimethylcyclohexyl)tetrahydropyrane molecule and their isomer molecules. The binding affinity constants regarding bOBP of the tetrahydrofuryl-2-yl family compounds were dependent upon the hydrophobicity (logP) of whole substrate molecules. In any case of porcine odorant-binding proteins (pOBP), the constants were dependent upon the hydrophobicity (${\pi}x={\log}P_X-{\log}P_H$) of substituents (R) in substrate molecules. Also, from the optimal values of hydrophobic constant, the hydrophobicity for bOBP influenced ca. twice time bigger (bOBP>pOBP) than that for pOBP.

  • This paper is primarily focused on the function of model management systems such as higher level representations and buildings of optimization models using them, especially in the area of the telecommunication network models. This research attempts to provide the model builders an intuitive language-namely higher level representation-using five distinctivenesses : Objective, Node, Link, Topological Constraint including five components, and Decision. The paper elaborates all components included in each of distinctivenesses extracted from structural characteristics of typical telecommunication network models. Higher level representations represented with five distinctivenesses should be converted into base level representations which are employed for semantic representations of linear and integer programming problems in knowledge: assisted optimization modeling system(UNIK-OPT). Furthermore, for formulating the network model using higher level representations, the reasoning process is proposed. A system called UNIK-NET is developed to implement the approach proposed in this research, and the system is illustrated with an example of the network model.
