Since vibration properties of a building structure were not easy to find out through a test, it was very difficult to in advance evaluate an influence of earthquake or other excitations on the building structure. However, currently, along with the development of the vibration analysis technique, it is possible to predict the structural performances of the buildings. The prediction of the vibration properties of the building structure has mainly employed a two-dimensional plane analysis so far, but not a three-dimensional analysis. The two-dimensional plane analysis encounters a reliability problem when the building is asymmetrical. This study has performed a three-dimensional modeling and vibration analysis on residential buildings when a subway passes below.
In this paper, three-dimensional analysis of the curved levee was performed according to curvature angle, and radius of curvature to investigate the property of seepage. The hydraulic gradients in the curved parts of levees decreased in the outer levee and increased in the inner levee, compared to the two-dimensional analysis. The smaller the curvature angle and the radius of curvature, the larger the change of the hydraulic gradient, compared to the two-dimensional analysis. The effect of curvature radius on the hydraulic gradient was greater than the curvature angle. As a result of evaluating the piping safety factor for the critical hydraulic gradient, the safety factor was increased by 2~5% in the outer levee and decreased by 4~12% in the inner levee, compared to the two-dimensional analysis. Considering this reduction, if the two-dimensional analysis is performed on the curved part of the levee, and if designed the safety factor for piping is 0.1~0.3 greater than allowable FS=2.0, the safety factor of the curved part is slightly reduced, but there is no difficulty in securing stability.
This paper describes an automated evaluation of electrostatic field for micro motors whose sizes range 10 to 103um. Electric field modeling in micro motors has been generally restricted to in-plane two-dimensional finite element analysis (FEA). In this paper, the actual three-dimensional geometry of the micro motor is considered. An automatic FE mesh generation technique, which is based on the fuzzy knowledge processing and computational geometry techniques, is incorporated in the system, together with one of commercial FE analysis codes and one of commercial solid modelers. The system allows a geometry model of concern to be automatically converted to different FE models, depending on physical phenomena to be analyzed, electrostatic analysis and stress analysis and so on. The FE models are then exported to the FE analysis code, and then analyses are peformed. Then, analytical analysis and FE analysis about the torque generated by electrostatic micro motor are performed. The starting torque is proportional to $V^2$, the calculated starting torque from the two-dimensional analytical solutions are three times larger than those from the three-dimensional FE solutions.

This paper describes a two-dimensional analysis of the potential distribution and electron concentration of the MODFET at channel using FDM. More exact analysis can be obtained by two-dimensional analysis which considers parasitic effects ignored in one-dimensional analysis. Using Poisson and Shrodinger equations, the potential distribution and the wave function are calculated within a constant error bound. As a result, the relations between the thickness of spacer, doping concentration of (n) AlGaAs layer, and the sheet density of the 2DEG (2 Dimensional Electron Gas) of MODFET at channel are suggested quantitively. The sheet density of the 2DEG is increased as the thickness of the spacer is decreased of the doping concentration of the (n)AlGaAs layer is lowered.
Purpose: In radiomics analysis, to evaluate features, and predict genetic characteristics and survival time, the pixel values of lesions depicted in computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) images are used. CT and MRI offer three-dimensional images, thus producing three-dimensional features (Features_3d) as output. However, in reports, the superiority between Features_3d and two-dimensional features (Features_2d) is distinct. In this study, we aimed to investigate whether a difference exists in the prediction accuracy of radiomics analysis of lung cancer using Features_2d and Features_3d. Methods: A total of 38 cases of large cell carcinoma (LCC) and 40 cases of squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) were selected for this study. Two- and three-dimensional lesion segmentations were performed. A total of 774 features were obtained. Using least absolute shrinkage and selection operator regression, seven Features_2d and six Features_3d were obtained. Results: Linear discriminant analysis revealed that the sensitivities of Features_2d and Features_3d to LCC were 86.8% and 89.5%, respectively. The coefficients of determination through multiple regression analysis and the areas under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC) were 0.68 and 0.70 and 0.93 and 0.94, respectively. The P-value of the estimated AUC was 0.87. Conclusions: No difference was found in the prediction accuracy for LCC and SCC between Features_2d and Features_3d.

We developed 1- and 2-dimensional fluid model for the analysis of a capacitively coupled Ar RF(Radio Frequency) glow discharge. This discharge is in pure Ar gas at the pressure 100[mTorr], frequency 13.56[MHz] and voltage amplitude 120[V}. This model is based on the equations of continuity and electron energy conservation coupled with Poison equation. 2-dimensional model is simulated on the condition of GEC(Gaseous Electronic Conference cell). The geometry of the discharge chamber and the electrodes used in the model is cylindrically simmetric; tow cylinders for the electrodes are surrounded by the grounded chamber. It is shown that 1-dimensional model is very useful on the understanding of RF glow discharge property and of the movement of charged particles. 2-dimensional model predicts off-axis maximum structure as in the experiments and has the results in qualitatively and quantitatively good agreement with the experiments. Effects of dc self-bias voltage, guard ring and reactor geometry is discussed.
This thesis deals with a method to solve a two-and-one-half-dimensional ($2\frac12$ D) problem, which means that the ocean environment is two-dimensional whereas the source is fully three-dimensionally propagating, including three-dimensional refraction phenomena and three-dimensional back-scattering, using two-dimensional two-way parabolic equation method combined with Fourier synthesis. Two dimensional two-way parabolic equation method uses Galerkin's method for depth and Crank-Nicolson method and alternating direction for range and provides a solution available to range-dependent problem with wave-field back-scattered from discontinuous interface. Since wavenumber, k, is the function of depth and vertical or horizontal range, we can reduce a dimension of three-dimensional Helmholtz equation by Fourier transforming in the range direction. Thus transformed two-dimensional Helmholtz equation is solved through two-way parabolic equation method. Finally, we can have the $2\frac12$ D solution by inverse Fourier transformation of the spectral solution gained from in the last step. Numerical simulation has been carried out for a canonical ocean environment with stair-step bottom in order to test its accuracy using the present analysis. With this spectral parabolic equation method, we have examined three-dimensional acoustic propagation properties in a specified site in the Korean Straits.
CSCM upwind flux difference splitting compressible Navier-Stokes method has been used to predict the transonic flows in a centrifugal compressor diffuser. The modified cyclic. TDMA and the mass flux boundary conditions were used as boundary conditions of the diffuser analysis. Broad flow separation on the suction surface near the hub and shroud was observed from the results of the mass flow rates 5.8, 6.0 and 6.2kg/s at 27000 rpm. The three-dimensional flow analysis predicted successfully that the static pressure increased and the total pressure decreased through the flow passage of the channel diffuser when compared to two-dimensional analysis due to the strong effect of the three-dimensional flow. The mass averaged loss coefficients and pressure coefficients were also studied.

In this Research, in order to improve problems of not enough technical validation and structural and hydraulic stability evaluation when nature-friendly revetment block is applied to field, hydraulic stability evaluation according to hydraulic behavior change of porosity soil block for vegetation reinforcement that secures ecological function was reviewed. By selecting object section, numerical analysis and hydraulic model experiments were performed; for numerical analysis, by using 1-dimensional numerical analysis model HEC-RAS and 2-dimensional numerical analysis RMA-2, one-dimensional(1D) and two-dimensional(2D) numerical analysis were performed; by applying Froude's similarity law, reduced-scale hydraulic model experiments according to vegetation existence were performed. In hydraulic model experiment, for validity of experiment result, the result of velocity and tractive force of reduced-scale hydraulic model experiments was converted to prototype so that it can be compared and reviewed under the same condition of one-dimensional(1D) and two-dimensional(2D) numerical analysis result; as a result, it was confirmed that comparatively united result appeared, and by comparing prototype-converted tractive force result with revetment's allowable tractive force coming from an existing research, block's hydraulic stability was suggested.

This paper presents three boundary techniques which are useful for FEM analysis of composite laminates: 1) a rotational symmetric boundary technique . 2) a quasi three-dimensional boundary technique and 3) a contact boundary technique. The use of the rotational symmetric boundary technique is possible for a smaller FEM model. With the use of the quasi three-dimensional boundary tecnique. quasi three dimensional analysis of composite laminates can be performed on the conventional 3-D FEM program These techniques can readily be adopted to FEM programs.
