  • In this paper we proposed to develop the reliability growth planning for the One-shot system using the PM2-Discrete model. The PM2-Discrete is the methodology specifically developed for discrete systems and is the first quantitative method available for formulating detailed plans in the discrete usage domain. First, the parameters RG, RI, T, MS and d of the PM2-Discrete model are set. Second, the case analysis was performed on One-shot system A. Third, the input parameter values were applied to drive the R(t) equation. Finally, using RGA 11 Software, the reliability Growth Planning Curve of One-shot system A was constructed. Also, the sensitivity analyses are performed for the changes of model parameters. The results of this study can be usefully used in establishing the reliability growth planning curve of the One-shot system.

  • In this paper we present a method of determining the unknown degree of any 2D discrete linear shift-invariant system which is characterized only by the coefficients of the double power series of a transfer function, i.e. a 2D impulse response array. Our method is based on a 2D extension of Berlekamp-Massey algorithm for synthesis of linear feedback shift registers, and it gives a novel approach to identification and approximation of 2D linear systems, which can be distinguished in its simplicity and potential of applicability from the other 2D Levinson-type algorithms. Furthermore, we can solve problems of 2D Pade approximation and 2D system reduction on a reasonable assumption in the context of 2D linear systems theory.

  • This paper is concerned with the $H_{\infty}$ control problem of 2-D discrete state delay systems described by the Roesser model. The condition for the system to have a specified $H_{\infty}$ performance is derived via the linear matrix inequality (LMI) approach. Furthermore, a design procedure for $H_{\infty}$ state feedback controllers is given by solving a certain LMI. The design problem of optimal $H_{\infty}$ controllers is formulated as a convex optimization problem, which can be solved by existing convex optimization techniques. Simulation results are presented to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed results.

  • Stability conditions of time-varying discrete state delay systems are proposed. The time-varying state delay is assumed that (i) the magnitude is known to lie in a certain interval (ii) the upper bound of the rate of change is known. Under these conditions, new stability conditions are derived based on switched Lyapunov functions. Stability conditions for both fast time-varying and slowly time-varying delay are considered.

  • This paper considers the problem of robust $H_{\infty}$ control for uncertain 2-D discrete systems in the General Model via output feedback controllers. The parameter uncertainty is assumed to be norm-bounded. The purpose is the design of output feedback controllers such that the closed-loop system is stable while satisfying a prescribed $H_{\infty}$ performance level. In terms of a linear matrix inequality, a sufficient condition for the solvability of the problem is obtained, and an explicit expression of desired output feedback controllers is given. An example is provided to demonstrate the application of the proposed method.

  • The two-dimensional (2D) Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT) is used widely in image and video processing systems. The perception of human visualization permits us to design approximate rather than exact DCT. In this paper, we propose a digital implementation of 16-point approximate 2D DCT architecture based on one-dimensional (1D) DCT and Modified Gate Diffusion Input (MGDI) technique. The 8-point 1D Approximate DCT architecture requires only 12 additions for realization in digital VLSI. Additions can be performed using the proposed 8 transistor (8T) MGDI Full Adder which reduces 2 transistors than the existing 10 transistor (10T) MGDI Full Adder. The Approximate MGDI 2D DCT using 8T MGDI Full adders is simulated in Tanner SPICE for $0.18{\mu}m$ CMOS process technology at 100MHZ.The simulation result shows that 13.9% of area and 15.08 % of power is reduced in the 8-point approximate 2D DCT, 10.63 % of area and 15.48% of power is reduced in case of 16-point approximate 2D DCT using 8 Transistor MGDI Full Adder than 10 Transistor MGDI Full Adder. The proposed architecture enhances results in terms of hardware complexity, regularity and modularity with a little compromise in accuracy.

  • On modern computer culture, the high quality data is required in multimedia systems. So, the technology of data compression fur data transmission is necessary now. This paper presents the pipeline architecture for the low and column address generator of 2D DCT/IDCT (Discrete Cosine Transform/Inverse Discrete Cosine Transform. In the proposed architecture, the area of hardware is reduced by using the DA (distributed arithmetic) method and applies the concepts of pipeline to the parallel architecture. As a result the designed pipeline of the low and column address generator for 2D DCT/IDCT architecture is implemented with an efficiency and high speed compared with the non-pipeline architecture.

  • Discrete element modeling (DEM) in concrete technology is concerned with design and use of models that constitute a schematization of reality with operational potentials. This paper discusses the material science principles governing the design of DEM systems and evaluates the consequences for their operational potentials. It surveys the two families in physical discrete element modeling in concrete technology, only touching upon probabilistic DEM concepts as alternatives. Many common DEM systems are based on random sequential addition (RSA) procedures; their operational potentials are limited to low configuration-sensitivity features of material structure, underlying material performance characteristics of low structure-sensitivity. The second family of DEM systems employs concurrent algorithms, involving particle interaction mechanisms. Static and dynamic solutions are realized to solve particle overlap. This second family offers a far more realistic schematization of reality as to particle configuration. The operational potentials of this family involve valid approaches to structure-sensitive mechanical or durability properties. Illustrative 2D examples of fresh cement particle packing and pore formation during maturation are elaborated to demonstrate this. Mainstream fields of present day and expected application of DEM are sketched. Violation of the scientific knowledge of to day underlying these operational potentials will give rise to unreliable solutions.
