Finite Element Analysis on the Stress and Displacement Behavior Safeties of Dome Roof Structures for a LNG Storage Tank (LNG 저장탱크 돔루프 구조물의 응력 및 변형거동 안전성에 관한 유한요소해석)

  • This paper presents FE analysis on the stress and displacement behavior safeties of dome roof structures for a LNG outer tank, which is constructed by sets of H beams and reinforced concrete. The excitation force of 0.2g is applied at the center of the bottom concrete structure of an outer tank. The computed FEM results indicated that the maximum von Mises stress was shown at the edge of dome roof structure and the maximum displacement was produced at the center of dome roof. The results showed that the concentrated stress and displacement were steadily increased for an increased number of H beams. This means that the number of H beams does not critically affect to the safety of the dome roof structure because the stiffness of a reinforced concrete structure is much higher than that of H beams. Thus, the number of H beams may be restricted under 60 due to a dead weight of H beams for 0.2g excitation force.

  • 항공기, 차량, 유도탄 등과 같은 동적인 플랫폼에서 표적을 추적하기 위해서는 시선을 안정화하는 외부의 추적루프와 내부의 속도 루프를 포함하는 서보 구조가 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 내부의 속도 루프인 안정화 루프에 큰 입력 전압이 인가되었을 때 구동기(Actuator) 포화 현상에 의해서 공간 안정화 루프 성능이 나빠지지 않게 와인드업 방지(Anti-windup) 기능을 가진 디지털 비례적분(Proportional Integral, PI) 제어기를 설계한다. 디지털 와인드업 방지 비례적분 제어기는 일반적으로 SISO 시스템 설계를 위한 방법으로 와인드업 방지 기능을 가진 R, S, T 다항식으로 표현되는 입출력 형태의 제어기를 이용하여 설계하였다. 설계된 제어기는 모델링에 의한 시뮬레이션 결과와 실험결과를 통해 성능을 분석하였다.

A Fast Locking Phase Locked Loop with Multiple Charge Pumps (다중 전하펌프를 이용한 고속 위상고정루프)

  • A novel phase-locked loop(PLL) architecture with multiple charge pumps for fast locking has been proposed. The proposed PLL has three charge pumps. The effective capacitance and resistance of the loop filter can be scaled up/down according to the locking status by controlling the direction and magnitude of each charge pump current. The fast locking PLL that changes its loop bandwidth through controlling charge pumps depending on locking status has been designed. The capacitor usually occupying the larger portion of the chip is also minimized with the proposed scheme. Therefore, the PLL size of $990{\mu}m\;{\times}\;670{\mu}m$ including resistors and capacitors at the bandwidth of 29.9KHz has been achieved. It has been fabricated with 3.3V $0.35{\mu}m$ CMOS process. The locking time is less than $6{\mu}s$ with the measured phase noise of -90.45dBc/Hz @1MHz at 851.2MHz output frequency.

Evaluation of Structural Behavior of Connections in Precast Arch Structures (프리캐스트 아치구조의 이음부 구조 거동 평가)

  • In this paper, a connection details for precast arch structures was proposed. Experiments were performed to evaluate structural performance of the loop connection details satisfying current design requirements and of alternative details for improvement of constructability. Precast arch specimens considering the current design requirements showed higher structural capacity than a cast-in-place arch specimen. Crack width at the connection of arch crown showed smaller value than 0.2 mm due to increased compression force by the applied vertical load. Strengthening by wire-mesh at notch area of the connection improved initial crack control capability. Connection detail with couplers and headed bars showed similar capacity to the reference specimen. The alternative details to improve constructability of reinforcements can be used without decreasing structural performance. Specimens with smaller internal diameter of mandrel and shorter loop splicing than the current design codes showed worse behavior in terms of crack width control.

  • A PHE (Process Heat Exchanger) is a key component of nuclear hydrogen system for massive production of hydrogen; the PHE transfers the very high temperature heat ($950^{\circ}C$) generated from the VHTR (Very High Temperature Reactor) to a chemical reaction. The Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute developed a small-scale gas loop for testing the performance of VHTR components and manufactured a modified PHE prototype for carrying out the testing in the gas loop. In this study, as a part of the evaluation of the high-temperature structural integrity of the modified PHE prototype which is scheduled to test in the gas loop, we carried out high-temperature structural analysis modeling, macroscopic thermal and structural analysis of the PHE prototype under the gas loop test conditions as a precedent study before carrying out the performance test in the gas loop. The results obtained in this study will be used to design the performance test setup for the modified PHE prototype.

  • In this paper, modified square loop frequency selective surface for dualband communication antenna systems is proposed, and the scattering characteristics is discussed. The analysis for the problem of scattering by periodic structures with a dielectric slab is formulated using the spectral-domain immittance approach and Floquet's theorem. The method of moments which uses rooftop subdomain basis function is employed to solve the equations. Numerical results include the comparison between the transmission characteristic of general square loop and that of modified square loop. Also, the transmission characteristics of modified square loop for arbitrary incident angle and polarization is presented. To verify analysis results, modified square loop frequency selective surface was fabricated and the calculated results were compared with the measured results. The measured results showed good agreement with the calculated results.

  • Quantum-dot cellular automata(QCA) consists of nano-scale cells and demands very low power consumption so that it is one of the alternative technologies that can overcome the limits of scaling CMOS technologies. Various circuits on QCA have been researched until these days, a latch required for counter and state control has been proposed as a component of sequential logic circuits. A latch uses a feedback loop to maintain previous state. In QCA, a latch uses a square structure using 4 clocks for feedback loop. Previous latches have been proposed using many cells and clocks in coplanar. In this paper, in order to eliminate these defects, we propose a SR and D latch using multilayer structure on QCA. Proposed three dimensional loop structure is based on multilayer and consists of 3 layers. Each layer has 2 clock differences between layers in order to reduce interference. The proposed latches are analyzed and compared to previous designs.

  • The small-loop electromagnetic technique has been used successfully for many geophysical qualitative investigations, particularly for shallow engineering and environmental surveys. Recently, various geophysical imaging methods based on numerical modeling and inversion have been tried in order to get more quantitative subsurface structure. However, conventional 2.5D small loop EM modeling takes a lot of time because responses should be calculated for several wave numbers and transformed into space domain. In this study, we developed a 2.5D HCP small loop EM modeling algorithm using extended Born approximation, which does not require transformation. Also, we checked its validity by comparison with other numerical results.

  • The frequency selective surface for use in Ka/Ku band parabolic antenna of domestic satellite communications is proposed. The frequency selective surface structure consists of the infinite periodic arrays of the triple square loop slot element with narrow width on the honeycomb structure of multi-layered dielectric. The frequency selective surface is fabricated and measured. The good agreement is obtained between theory and experiment. It is demonstrated that the frequency selective surface passes 14/12 GHz band wave while reflecting 30/20 GHz band wave as required.

  • This paper proposes the design of a robust controller based on disturbance observer which is strong to variation of system parameters, uncertainty of models or external disturbance. The controller consists of a mode based compensator and a feedback controller based on two-loop structure. The compensator in the internal-loop removes internal and external disturbances and a feedback controller in the external loop achieves performance along with given specifications. As a result, it shows that the proposed robust controller can stabilize a system against disturbance and improve controlling performance.
