  • The mechanical stress due to the wheel-rail contact and thermal stress due to the drag braking increase the incidence of wheel failure. So, firstly, stress analyses(mechanical, thermal and combined stress) of wheel plate are performed using 3-dimensional finite element method(FEM). Secondly, the optimum design of wheel plate ;s investigated in order to reduce weight of the wheel based on results of stress analysis. The optimum design is peformed using 2-dimensional axisymmetric F.E. model and its results are verified by 3-dimensional F. E. model.

  • One of the main causes of severe wear or crack initiation in wheel and rail is the contact stress due to wheel-rail contact. First, we obtain contact stress due to the rail mounting slope using the finite element method. Second, the shape design based on more reasonable contact stress analysis rather th~n a general Hertzian contact theory is investigated in order to reduce the contact stress. The optimum -design is performed using the simple 2-D finite element model and its results are verified by 311) finite element analysis.

  • This study aims to derive frequency weighting curves for the estimation of driver's discomfort by steering wheel vibration in the vertical and rotational direction with respect to a steering column. Subjective tests for the determination of equal sensation curves, inverse of frequency weighting curves, for the two kinds of vibrations were performed using the sinusoidal signals with reference amplitudes from 0.2m/s$^2$ to 0.4 m/s$^2$ in the frequency range from 5㎐ to 100㎐. Twelve subjects joined at the tests, and median values of the twelve judgments were used to determine the frequency weighting curves. Second experiment was followed to determine relative magnitude between the two frequency weighting curves by direct comparison of discomfort due to the two kinds of vibrations at 50㎐, which showed discomfort by the rotational vibration was 1.5 times of that by the vertical vibration.

  • 본 논문에서는 2개의 인-휠 브러쉬리스 모터로 구동하는 차량의 실시간 위치 추종 제어방법을 제안한다. 2개의 모터를 사용하여 구동되는 차량의 경우 방향 및 이동이 각 모터의 제어를 기반으로 결정된다. 하지만 컨트롤러에 의해 지령된 위치까지 모터의 제어가 정확하게 된다 하더라도 차량의 실제 위치는 바퀴와 바닥면사이의 슬립이나 외부 요인에 의해 오차가 발생하게 된다. 따라서 이렇게 발생하는 오차를 보상하기 위해 차량의 실시간 각도 추정이 가능한 IMU(Inertia Measrement Unit) 센서를 기반으로 진행 각도를 보정하며 주행 중 발생하는 위치오차를 보상하기 위해 모터의 홀센서로부터 계산되는 위치와 IMU 센서의 데이터를 조합하여 실시간 위치 추종 제어방법을 제안한다.

The Study on the Fatigue Life Prediction on Wheels through CAE (CAE를 이용한 자동차용 휠(wheel)의 피로수명 예측기법 연구)

  • The fatigue life in wheels was predicted by simulating the experimental method using Finite-Element analysis. Based on a high frequency fatigue property, calculations of the stresses in wheels were performed by simulating the rotating bending fatigue test. Wheels made of an aluminum alloy(A356.2) were tested using a bending fatigue tester. Results from bending fatigue test showed a linear correlation between bending moment and stress amplitude. Consequently, Finite-Element calculations were performed by a linear analysis. In order to find stress-cycles curves, spoke parts of wheel were tested using a rotary bending fatigue tester. Also, highly accurate Finite-Element analysis requires regression lines and confidence intervals from these results. In conclusion, if the fatigue data related to the material and manufacturing procedure are reliable, the prediction on fatigue lift in wheels can be carried out with high accuracy.

  • This paper presents a new design method of the 1 generation wheel bearing unit using a numerical optimization technique in order to increase bearing fatigue life. For calculating the fatigue life, a method of load analysis is studied on the automotive wheel bearing system. The design variables selected are ball size, initial contact angle, number of balls, pitch diameter, pre-load, and distance between ball centers. The method of feasible directions in ADS (Automated Design Synthesis) is utilized to automatically find the optimum design variables. To validate the design method, a computer program is developed and applied to a practical passenger car model. The optimum design results demonstrated the effectiveness of the proposed design method showing that the system life of the optimally designed wheel bearing unit is enhanced in comparison with that of the initial ones within the given available design space.

  • Wheel loader is one of the construction machinery capable of variety of tasks and the demand on functional diversity and structural reliability is growing. As a study on the optimal shape design of front axle for wheel loader through the design of experiments, this paper assessed the design parameters affecting the maximum stress. As a result, a value of 126.77 MPa of minimum stress was obtained, and optimal factors showed the values of w = 100.0 mm, ${\theta}=40^{\circ}$ and R = 118 mm. It showed an accuracy of 98.7% compared with the structural analysis.

  • Using the finite element method, rail-wheel contact model has been analyzed for mechanical loads due to passengers and payload of the train. This paper presents an investigation on how tapered wheel and inclined rail surfaces affect the contact stress and displacement of rail-wheel contacting surface under mechanical loads. For a numerical analysis, the tapered faces of the wheel are considered as 2.5% and 5.5%. And two models of the tilted rail are also considered as 40:1 and 20:1 at the bottom of the rail. The computed results based on the contact stress and displacement FE analysis indicate that the tilting ratio of the rail, 20:1 with a tapered face of the wheel, 2.5% may be more stable compared to that of 40:1 tilting model and 5.5% tapered wheel face.

편대비행 위성의 자세 동기화를 위한 SDRE 추적 제어기와 Hardware-In-the-Loop 시뮬레이션

  • 편대비행 위성이 공동의 임무를 수행하기 위해서는 편대를 이루는 위성의 각기 다른 초기 오차와 다양한 외란 환경에서도 자세 동기화를 이룰 수 있는 기법이 필요하다. 이 연구에서는 편대비행위성의 자세 동기화를 위하여 비선형 시스템에 대한 준최적 제어기법인 SDRE(State-Dependent Riccati Equation)에 기반한 추적 제어기가 사용되었다. 반작용 휠이 포함된 위성의 자세 동역학이 SDRE 추적 제어기를 구성하는데 이용된다. 이를 Leader/Follower 편대비행 시스템에 적용하며, 기준 자세를 추적하는 Leader 위성의 자세를 Follower 위성이 추적하여 자세 동기화를 이룰 수 있다. MATLAB과 SIMULINK를 이용한 수치해석적 시뮬레이션으로 추적 제어기의 성능을 검증하였으며, 이에 대한 실시간 HIL(Hardware-In-the-Loop) 시뮬레이션이 수행되었다. 무중력 환경을 모사하는 에어베어링시스템과 세 개의 반작용 휠을 장착한 자세제어 HILS(Hardware-In-the-Loop Simulator)는 PC104 타입의 임베디드 컴퓨터에서 SIMULINK의 xPC Target을 이용한 실시간 시뮬레이션 환경을 제공하며, 이에 적용되는 SDRE 추적 제어기는 이산화되어 설계되었다. 또한 SDRE 추적 제어기에 대한 안정성을 보장하는 영역이 추정되어 위 추적 제어기가 위성 편대비행에 적합한 자세 동기화 기법임을 보였다.
