Numerical Simulation of Depth-Averaged Flow with a CDG Finite Element Method (CDG 유한요소법을 이용한 수심적분 흐름의 수치모의)

  • This paper presents a numerical model for the simulations of 2D depth-averaged flows. The shallow water equations are solved numerically by the Characteristic Dissipative Galerkin (CDG) finite element method. For validation, the developed model is applied to the hydraulic jump. The computed results are compared with the analytical solution, revealing good agreement. In addition, flow in a contracting channel showing standing waves is simulated. The calculated water surface profile appears to be qualitatively consistent with the observed data. The foregoing results indicate that the model is capable of simulating the abrupt change in flow field. Next, the model is applied to the flow in a $180^{\circ}$ curved channel. The simulated results show that the velocity near the inner bank is faster than that near the outer bank and the water depth near the inner bank is shallower than that near the outer bank. However, the simulated results show that the velocity distribution across the channel is almost uniform in the bend except the reach close to the end of the bend. This is due to the limitation of the governing equations in which the transverse convection of momentum by the secondary flows along a channel bend is not taken into account.

Analysis of Solute Transport with Steady State Groundwater Flow in Layered Aquifer (정상 지하수흐름을 갖는 층상대수층에서의 용질이동해석)

  • The Nanji-Do ladnfill is an ill-conditioned reclaimed land without pollution intercepting facilities, and has high ground water table and deep stratum. The purpose of this study is to analyze the solute transport in steady-state groundwater flow and to predict the solute dispersion in Nanji-Do landfill using HST-3D model. As results, the groundwater flows radially outward from the center of No. 1 and No. 2 landfills, and large amount of runoff is moved into Han River. The predicted relative concentration of total dissolved solute(TDS) at two years later was 0.25 in the weathering zone, 0.26 in the lower alluvium, and 0.28 in the upper alluvium. Thus, the further pollution to bottom rock and Han River was predicted by comparing the corresponding present values of 0.29, 0.32 and 0.35.

  • 제방은 하천의 범람으로부터 제내지의 인명, 가옥, 재산, 각종 시설 등을 보호하고 유수의 원활한 소통을 유지하기 위해 하천을 따라 축조한 구조물로서 침식 피해를 방지하기 위해 호안을 설치하도록 규정하고 있다. 호안은 만곡부, 하천 급경사, 지형의 간섭효과 등에 의한 유수의 침입으로부터 제방 및 하안을 직접 보호하기 위해 제방 앞비탈에 설치되는 구조물을 의미한다. 따라서 호안의 안정은 곧 제체의 안정과 직결되는 요소라 할 수 있다. 호안의 안정성은 역학적인 측면에서 외력과 저항력의 크기에 따라 평가할 수 있다. 국내 실무에서 적용되고 있는 호안설계 방법은 하천설계기준 해설(2009)에 제시되어 있으며, 경험과 이론의 양면을 고려하여 설계를 수행하도록 하고 있다. 이로 인해 호안 안정성에 대한 역학적인 검토 방법의 한계 때문에 과대 또는 과소 설계의 우려가 있다. 따라서 호안설계시 유속 및 소류력의 크기에 따른 정량적 평가기법이 요구되는 상황이다. 본 연구에서는 호안의 정량적인 설계기법 개발을 위하여 수리실험을 통해 유속증가로 인한 호안재료의 이탈현상을 재현하였다. 실험수로는 폭 2 m, 길이 25 m, 수로경사 1/300의 직선수로 형태이며 우안의 1:2 경사면에 다양한 크기의 사석과 블록을 차례로 설치하여 실험을 수행하였다. 수리실험은 다른 하상변동 요인이 제한된 고정상으로 수행되었으며 정상류 흐름조건에서 유량을 변화시키며 유속변화 등 흐름현상에 의한 호안재료 이탈을 관찰하였다. 실험결과를 바탕으로 호안설계시 1차원 접근유속을 대표유속으로 적용하는 방법의 특성을 파악하고, 호안재료의 이탈유속과 흐름특성간의 상관관계를 분석하였다. 또한, 호안설계시 입력자료로 사용될 수 있는 단면평균유속과 2차원적 국부유속과의 상관관계를 파악하여 호안의 정량적 설계기법에 활용될 제원결정 경험식을 제안하였다.

  • 최근, 플루이딕스칩 제작에 있어서 가격이 저렴하며 구조물 형성이 쉽다는 장점으로 인하여 유리 기판을 플라스틱 기판으로 대체하려는 연구가 많이 진행하고 있다. 하지만 플라스틱 기판은 유리 기판에 비하여 많은 장점을 갖고 있음에도 불구하고, 기판 표면이 소수성이기 때문에 유체의 흐름을 저하시키는 문제점이 있다. 기존의 플라스틱 기판을 친수성으로 개질하는 방법으로는 화학적처리, 자외선 조사, 산소플라즈마 처리 등의 방법이 있었으나, 화학적처리 방법은 공정의 민감성과 폐기물로 인한 양산적용의 한계가 있고, 자외선 조사법 및 산소 플라즈마 처리는 친수성이 영구적이지 않다는 결정적인 문제점이 있다. 이는 플라스틱 플루이딕스칩의 신뢰도를 크게 저해하여 상용화에 큰 문제점으로 작용한다. 이러한 문제점을 극복하기 위한 새로운 방법의 친수성 표면처리가 요구되어 지고 있다. 본 연구에서는, 기존 플라스틱 기판의 친수성 표면처리 방법들의 문제점들을 개선하고자 플라스틱 기판의 변형을 야기하지 않는 저온 PE-CVD 방식을 이용하여 균질한 두께의 $SiO_2$박막을 형성 하였으며, 형성된 박막을 liquid self-assembled monolayer(L-SAM)방식을 이용하여 아민 표면으로 개질하였다. 이를 통해, 플라스틱 채널 상에서 유체의 원활한 흐름, 형성된 아민 표면에 단백질 및 DNA와 같은 생체 물질 고정화의 용이성 및 영구적 표면개질의 특성을 얻을 수 있었다. 이뿐만 아니라, 플라스틱 기판 외에도 재료에 관계없이 모든 물질의 표면을 생체 안정성이 뛰어난 친수성 표면으로 개질 할 수 있으며, 알데히드 및 카르복시산 등의 다양한 작용기로 변형이 쉽다는 장점이 있다. 개질된 친수성 표면의 평가를 위하여 시간에 따른 접 촉각 및 형광 스캐너(Fluorescence Scanner)를 이용하여 영구적인 친수성 특성 및 생체물질 적합성을 파악하였다. 또한, L-SAM 조건에 따른 아민의 형성정도를 측정하기 위하여 XPS(X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy) 분석을 실시 하였다. 최적화된 표면처리를 실제 플라스틱 플루이딕스칩에 적용하여, 유체의 흐름을 관찰 하였다.

  • In the 2-phase excited BLDC motor drives using a unipolar PWM scheme, there exists, in some cases, a unwanted leakage current which flows through the anti -parallel diode in the non-excited phase leg of the inverter. In this paper the cases in which the leakage current exists and the influence of the leakage current are analyzed, and a novel unipolar PWM scheme which can eliminate the leakage current is proposed. The leakage current increases as the motor speed is increased or PWM duty is decreased, and as a result the output power of the motor is reduced considerably. The effectiveness of the proposed unipolar PWM scheme isverified through the comparative simulations and experiments.

A Study on the Vanadium Oxides Catalyst in the Ammoxidation of Methylpyrazine into Cyanopyrazine (메틸피라진으로부터 시아노피라진으로의 암옥시화반응에서의 산화 바나듐 촉매에 관한 연구)

  • The catalytic ammoxidation of methylpyrazine into cyanopyrazine over a supported vanadium oxides catalyst on ${\gamma}$-alumina was studied in a continuous-flow fixed bed reactor. Various crystalline phases of vanadium oxides were obtained depending on reduction temperatures. And also the activities for the reaction of methylpyrazine into cyanopyrazine were affected by their major oxidation states of the corresponding crystalline phases. The 10${\%}$ vanadium oxides loaded ${\gamma}$-alumina catalyst, which was reduced at 600$^{\circ}C$ under the hydrogen flow for 2 hours, showed the highest activity and the highest selectivity on cyanopyrazine in the ammoxidation of methylpyrazine.Its major crystalline phase was V$_2$O$_3$ with the presence of V$_6$O$_{13}$ and V$_2$O$_4$(VO$_2$) together. And this coexistance seemed to enhance the activity.

Biological Treatment of Processed-Leachate from Landfills by Reed (Phragmites australis)-Bed in a Continuous Flow System (갈대-상(床)을 이용한 쓰레기 매립지 침출수의 생물학적 연속흐름 처리)

  • We investigate the biological treatment of processed-leachate from SUDOKWON landfill site in Korea by the reed (Phragmites australis)-bed with a continuous flow system. The reed individuals showing superior growth in processed-leachate experiment were selected among the reeds of thirteen natural habitats by means of the comparisons between the removal rates of nutrient salts, eco-physiological responses and growth. The reed-beds (combination of the reed individuals showing superior growth with helper microorganisms) were continuously supplied with processed-leachate. We monitored the effluents that passing through the reed-beds during the experiment period. After five weeks, analysis results of effluent from each reed-bed were as follows; chromaticity, total nitrogen, total phosphorus, biological oxygen demand, chemical oxygen demand, total dissolved solid and salinity decreased $29.5{\sim}36.9\%,\;49.4{\sim}67.2\%,\;42.1{\sim}94.6\%,\;74.5{\sim}88.8\%,\;15.6{\sim}20.8\%,\;17.5{\sim}35.4\%\;and\;15.3{\sim}34.7\%$, respectively. These results represented the substantial improvement of water-quality after passing through reed-bed in a continuous flow system.

Structural Controls on Crustal Fluid Redistribution and Hydrothermal Gold Deposits: A Review on the Suction Pump and Fault Valve Models (지각 내 열수 재분배와 금광상 형성의 구조적 제어: 석션 펌프 및 단층 밸브 모델에 대한 리뷰)

  • Hydrothermal gold deposits are evidence of intensive fluid flow through fault zones, and the resultant vein structures and textures reflect the fluid redistribution mechanism. This review introduces the suction pump and fault valve models as fluid circulation mechanisms causing hydrothermal gold deposits in the frameworks of the concepts of fault mechanics. The suction pump and fault valve models describe faulting-driven heterogeneous fluid flow and related vein formation mechanisms, accompanied by the cycles of (1) stress accumulation and fluid pressure build-up and (2) seismic rupture and stress/fluid pressure release. The models are available under different geological environments (stress conditions), and the vein structures and textures representing the mechanisms have similarities and differences. The suction pump and fault valve models must help better to interpret the origins of hydrothermal gold deposits in Korea and improve the efficiency of further exploration.

Sensitivity Analysis of Debris Flow Simulation in Flo-2D Using Flow Discharge and Topographic Information (유량과 지형조건에 따른 Flo-2D에서의 토석류 확산 민감도 분석)

  • In August 2020, a debris flow occurred in Gokseon, Jeollanam-do, that resulted in the death of five residents. In this study area, high-resolution 0.03 m topographic information was generated through photogrammetry, and the amount of soil movement/loss was measured. In addition, sensitivity analysis was performed for flow depth, flow velocity, and debris flow area with the program Flo-2D using the difference in simulation parameter that discharge and topographic information. Wth increasing debris flow input discharge, increases were seen in flow depth, flow velocity, and debris flow area, as ell as in the gap in results from high-resolution topographic information and low-resolution topographic information. Also, when high-resolution topographic information was used, the results were similar to the actual (measured) flow direction of the debris flow. Therefore, the application of high-resolution topographic information increases the accuracy of the debris flow analysis results compared with low-resolution information. Results could be further imporved in the future by considering geological information such as yield stress and viscosity.

  • The development of unsteady, depth-averaged two dimensional sediment transport prediction model in estuaries and harbors by the Galerkin finite element technique is presented. The model consists of two submodels, flow induced circulation model and sediment transport model. The sediment transport submodel is formulated by incorporating sediment continuity equation and sediment diffusion equation. Numerical experiments of the model, which were carried out in one dimensional channel under different conditions for circulation and sediment transport, show the adaptability of the formulation for predicting the migration of both cohesive and noncohesive sediments. The model was applied to Busan harbor to simulate circulation and sediment transport for simplified conditions. Of the results by the model the flow pattern are shown to be similar to observed data.
