Survey on the Education System and National Licensing Examination for Fostering Competent Medical Technologists (우수한 임상병리사 양성을 위한 교육제도 및 국가면허시험제도에 대한 설문조사 분석)

  • This study aimed at characterizing policy directions to foster competent medical technologists by analyzing the opinions of professors and medical technologists regarding university education and national licensing systems. An online survey questionnaire was distributed to 255 professors and 4,000 medical technologists in August of 2016. Fifty-nine professors (23%) and 1,099 medical technologists (27.7%) responded to the survey. The results were evaluated using descriptive statistics and comparative analysis. Professors and medical technologists agreed that there needs to be an improvement and standardization in both education at universities and practical training at hospitals. Moreover, both groups also thought that it was necessary to reform practical examinations and make improvements in the current licensing system. According to the survey results, professors and medical technologists thought that, the improvement of the quality of university education and hospital practical training should be essential, and the reform of existing national licensing examination should be necessary.

Feasibility Survey on the Introduction of Forest Land Bank System focusing on Forest Owners, Non-forest Owners, and People Who Return to the Farm (산주와 비산주 및 귀농·귀촌인을 대상으로 한 산지은행제도 도입 타당성 설문조사)

  • Forestry management problems in South Korea have been caused by small and scattered forest lands, aging forest owners, and the increase of absentee forest owners. To solve these problems, it is a time to consider the introduction of forest land bank system for the expansion of forestry management scale, the effective management of neglected forest lands, and the stable livelihood support for aged forest owners. Therefore, this research implemented the questionnaire survey of necessity, expectation, willingness to use, and introduction plans for the forest land bank system in order to examine the feasibility and demand of the system focused on forest owners, non-forest owners, and people who return to the farm. The questionnaire survey was conducted for 262 of resident forest owners, 152 of absentee forest owners, 427 of non-forest owners, and 101 of people who return to the farm. 77.5% of forest owners and 63.8% of non-forest owners agreed with the necessity of the introduction for the forest land bank system. Both forest owners and non-forest owners would prefer to use forest land reverse mortgage and leasing among projects of the forest land bank. In addition, 75% of people who return to the farm also expected that forest land bank would be helpful to their rural and mountain life, and they would have higher preference to participate in leasing and buying forest lands than other projects. Based on the outputs of the feasibility and demand survey in this research, this study can play a key role in determining basic direction, major functions, types and range of projects as well as providing information for establishing policies of the forest land bank system.

The Proposal for the Model of Users' Addictions in Social Gaming

  • The objective of this study proposes the new user's addiction model in 'Social Network Games' (SNGs). Research model is derived from the separation of two characteristics. First one is logical characteristics that includes 'Functional' (F), 'Keystroke' (K), and 'Goal' (G). Second one is feeling characteristics that consists a few factors such as 'Emotion' (E), 'Social' (S), and 'Affection' (A). For the pre-test, a total of 30 participants responded to survey in order to inspect the fitness of research questionnaire, roughly validity of the proposed model, and the direction of this reseach. After that for the main test, a total 300 users participated in this research. The final number of effective participants were 261 because 39 were insincere respondents and without playing SNGs who were excluded. Then we examined the measurement model by performing 'Partial Least Squares - Structural Equation Modeling' (PLS-SEM) analysis to test the research hypothesis empirically. The results of the measurement and structural model test lend support to the proposed research model by providing a good fit to the construct data. Interestingly, the model showed the significant effects of the interaction between eleven hypothesis(H1,H2,H3,H4,H5,H6,H7,H8,H9,H10, H12). Only one hypothesis decision t-value not supported that is involved the relationship between SNGs Addiction and Keystroke, H11(1.193). This research expect to contributes to an exploratory SNGs research to clarify the base of addition and will aids understanding of users' behavior associated with SNGs development.

Investigation on the Difficulties during Elementary Pre-service Teachers' Open-inquiry Activities (초등 예비교사들이 자유 탐구 활동 중에 겪은 어려움 조사)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the difficulties in engaging in open-inquiry activities of elementary pre-service teachers. Data were collected from in-depth interviews with 22 pre-service teachers and their open-inquiry products. The 22 pre-service teachers who participated in this study were enrolled in college openinquiry course and performed open-inquiry activities for fifteen weeks. The results of this study show that pre-service teachers struggled with several difficulties; selection of the subject, the lack of understanding about the science process skills and content knowledge, background knowledge, environment matters and self confidence about open inquiry. However, they thought open-inquiry is interesting in spite of much difficulties, and is necessary for science education.

Material Stress Fringe Constant Measurement of Specimen under Pure Bending Load by Use of Photoelastic Phase Shifting Method (광탄성 위상이동법을 이용한 순수굽힘보 시편의 재료 응력 프린지 상수 측정)

  • In a photoelastic experiment, it is necessary to know the material stress fringe constant of the photoelastic specimen to determine the stresses from the measured isochromatic fringe orders. The material stress fringe constant can be obtained using a simple tension specimen and/or a circular disk under diametric compression. In these methods, there is generally a need to apply numerous loads to the specimen in response to the relationship of the fringe order. Then, the least squares method is used to obtain the material constant. In this paper, the fringe orders that appear on a four-point bending specimen are used to determine the fringe constant. This method requires four photoelastic fringes obtained from a circular polariscope by rotating the analyzer to 0, ${\pi}/4$, ${\pi}/2$, and $3{\pi}/4$ radians. Using the four-point bending specimen to determine the material stress fringe constant has an advantage because measurements can be made at different locations by applying a constant load. The stress fringe constant measured with this method is within the range suggested by the manufacturer of the photoelastic material.

Shaking Table Test of a 1/10 Scale Isolated Fifteen-story Flat Plate Apartment Building (면진층을 가지는 1/10 축소된 15층 무량판 아파트건물의 진동대 실험)

  • This paper presents the results of performance verification tests of the isolated flat plate apartment building with the laminated rubber bearings. The shaking table test is carried out in CABR(China Academy of Building Research) with two 1/10 scale isolation and non-isolation models under 4 excitation waves. The shaking table test is proceeding from x axis, y axis and x+y axis with different amplitude of acceleration values. The results show that, to non-isolated model, the natural vibration period is remarkably decreased and entered non-linear condition after moderate earthquake. Its accelerations become lager with increasing storey number and completely collapsed under large earthquake. The inter-storey shifts largely exceed the limit values of regulated displacement angles. But to isolated model, the natural vibration period of isolated modal is almost the same in all conditions and still in its elastic condition. The earthquake loading is greatly reduced and the accelerations of superstructure are greatly reduced. The inter-storey drifts are very small and can be neglected. The isolated model is in translational state and can be seen as a rigid whole. The displacements of isolation layer are in the allowable range. This experiment demonstrates that the seismic isolation is very effective to mitigate the influence of earthquake on structures and it is possible to increase the serviceability due to decrease the floor acceleration. facilities from their good states that is superior to non-isolated structure.

Pre-service Teachers' Opinions and Needs on the Physics Education Major Curriculum in College (사범대학 물리교육과의 전공 교육과정에 관한 예비 교사의 의견과 요구)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate pre-service physics teachers' perceptions on the physics education major curriculum. We surveyed 15 junior, and 13 senior college students of physics education major in an university in southern part of Korea. Among them, 24 participants(86 %) took the physics 1 course in high school and 22 participants(79 %) chose the physics 1 in their Korea Scholastic Aptitude Test. The responses showed that the most necessary part in pre-service students' learning was the understanding of high school level physics(36 %), and the understanding of introductory level physics(29 %). In the wish list of courses to be open, high school level physics course was ranked first among seven options by 61 % of respondents. Also, there was some concurrence among respondents in opinion of the necessity for understanding introductory physics. Students felt difficulties in understanding it especially owing to the lack of problem solving skill and comprehension. They added that the sufficient explanation of core concepts should be the first action in the innovative plan. Most participants of pre-service physics teachers hoped to have the revised major curriculum which could help their understanding of high school level or introductory level of physics. However, there was a gap of opinions between the group of students with completion of the high school physics 1 & 2 course and those with non-completion of them. The approach of changing major curriculum with consideration of learners' needs was recommended because the number of students with completion of the high school physics course would probably be decreasing rapidly under these circumstances such as the application of new national curriculum, the reduction of the number of the elective courses in Korea Scholastic Aptitude Test and so on.

Meta-evaluation for Evaluation of Science Gifted Educational Institutions Affiliated with Universities (대학교 부설 과학영재교육원 평가에 대한 메타평가)

  • The research attempted to propose directions for improving evaluation of science gifted educational institutions affiliated with universities through its meta-evaluation. A survey questionnaire was developed and responded by 25 representatives of 25 science gifted educational institutions and 9 evaluation committee members in February 2008. According to research results, it was found that reference-criteria and categories for evaluation were abstract and did not reflect varied characteristics of individual institutions. Evaluation of outcomes mainly emphasized student number admitted by science high schools and science gifted school. Evaluation was performed for the sake of judging ranks. In addition, research capacity of institutions was not even considered as an evaluation element. For its improvement, the followings were suggested: First, evaluation should be functioned as consulting. Second, evaluation criteria are presented as concrete as it can be. Third, on-site evaluation should be introduced Fourth, evaluation process and results should be publicized Fifth, satisfaction by student and parents should be also included. Furthermore, exemplary cases of science gifted educational institutions should be identified and rewarded, and their management strategies should be disseminated with other institutions.

Effects of edcuation about dental hygiene devices on their use (구강위생용품 관련 교육이 구강위생용품 사용에 미치는 영향)

  • In this study, to provide the implications of dental health care training direction in the future after researching the effect on the use of dental hygiene devices, data were collected from 320 patients who visited dental clinics located in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do for about 6 months between December 2013 and May 2014. Among them, the following results were obtained by analyzing 299 copies accounting for 93.4% of the collected data after excluding 21 copies lacking in answer. It was shown that education about dental hygiene devices had statistically significant effects on the dependent variables, perception of dental hygiene devices (p<0.001). Based upon the results above, it is considered that for the sake of prevention of oral diseases, more opportunities to learn correct knowledge and usage of suitable dental hygiene devices for individual oral conditions should be provided for patients, and active patient education as well as the development, implementation and publicity of systematic and popular oral health education programs will contribute to improved oral health.

Safety Evaluation of Concert Hall Floor Vibration Using Numerical Analysis Model (수치해석모델을 이용한 콘서트 홀 바닥진동 안전성 평가)

  • In this paper, the floor vibration of an example concert hall building was measured and floor safety criteria were analytically checked through comparison between experimental and analytical results. The floor bottom plate model was constructed considering the composite effect and the analytical model was modified to have the natural frequency identical to the measured one. Also, time history analysis was conducted using the dynamic loads induced by human rhythmic movement during a musical performance, and the analytically calculated floor accelerations were similar to the measured one. Based on this model, the floor vibration level due to the group activities of about 400 persons, maximum available persons for the concert hall, was estimated. It was confirmed that the human induced dynamic loads applied to the column and beam would be much lower than the design strength. In addition, the horizontal acceleration level is just 2% of the design seismic load, so the concert hall is safe in both vertical and horizontal excitations by human rhythmic movements.
