We have investigated the optimum combination of the environmental noise condition and type of SQUID pickup coil in order to obtain maximum signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). The measurement probe consists of 1st order gradiometer with pickup coils of 100 mm, 70 mm, and 50 mm baseline length, a 2nd order gradiometer with 50 mm baseline, and a magnetometer. The pickup coils are fabricated by winding Nb wire on a bobbin with 200 mm diameter. Noise and heart signal of a healthy male were measured by various SQUID sensors with different types of pickup coils in various magnetically shielded rooms (MSR), and compared to each other. The shielding factors were found to be 43 dB, 35 dB and 25 dB at 0.1 Hz for MSR-AS, MSR-BS, MSR-CS, respectively. White noises were $3.5\;fT/Hz^{1/2}$, $4.5\;fT/Hz^{1/2}$ and $3\;fT/Hz^{1/2}$ for the 1st order gradiometers, the 2nd order gradiometers, and magnetometer for all MSRs. SNR of the magnetometer was up to 56 dB in MSR-AS, while the 1st order axial gradiometer with 70 mm baseline length was up to 54 dB in MSR-BS. The 2nd order axial gradiometer with 50 mm baseline length of pickup coil was found to be up to 40 dB in MSR-CS.
In this paper, we propose an implementation technology for an active attenuator with the maximum attenuation of -110dBm in the frequency band of 50MHz to 2,15GHz. It provides USB interface to connect to PC providing GUI that sets signal frequency and attenuation step of minimum 1dB. As it attenuates the input signal level down to -110dBm, circuit and equipment design technologies are applied to control both internal and external electro-magnetic noises.. Through the performance test, it is assured that it attenuates input signal level down to -110dBm for the input signal levels of -10 to -30dBm.

This paper proposes a low power current-steering 10-bit DAC selecting clock enable signal. The proposed DAC reduces the clock power by cutting the clock signal to the current-source cells in wihich the data will not be changed. The proposed DAC was implemented using a 0.13${\mu}m$ CMOS process with $V_{DD}=1.2V$. Its core area is 0.21$mm^2$. It consumes 4.46mW at 1MHz signal frequency and 200MHz sampling rate. The clock power is reduced to 30.9% and 36.2% of a conventional DAC at 1.25MHz and 10MHz signal frequencies, respectively. The measured SFDRs are 72.8dB and 56.1dB at 1MHz and 50MHz signal frequencies, respectively.

The present study analyzes T1 TSE and T1 slice sel. IR (dark_fluid) signal strength according to the degree of gadolinium contrast agent dilution and analyzes the turbo factors with regard to changes in the maximum and overall signal strength to study correlations between changes and signal-to-noise ratios (SNRs) and compare peak-to-peak SNR (PSNR) enhancement in order to improve the quality of T1-weighted images. Enhancement TR (600 msec) evaluated to determine the T1 TSE turbo factor and obtain the maximum signal strength, T1WI were used sequentially to experiment with turbo factors_1-4. T1 slice sel. IR (dark-fluid) was used to sequentially test turbo factors_2-5 but not turbo factor_1 at a TR (1500 msec) and compare data at an increase in T1 of 900 msec. The T1 TSE was reduced according to the contrast agent concentration. Phantom signal strength increased, whereas turbo factors_1-4 exhibited maximum signal strength at a concentration of 3 mmol, followed by a gradual decrease. In the turbo factors_2-5, the signal strength increased sharply to maximum signal strength at 0.7 mmol, followed by a reduction. T1 TSE had a greater maximum signal strength than did T1 slice sel. IR (dark_fluid). A comparison of SNR found that T1 TSE imaging was superior (33.3 dB) in turbo factor_1 and T1 slice sel. IR (dark_fluid) was highest (33.9 dB) at turbo factor_5. A PSNR comparison analysis was not sufficient to distinguish between the images obtained with both techniques at 30 dB or higher under all experimental conditions.

This paper describes the development of RF front.end equipment of a wide band high precision satellite navigation receiver to be able to receive the currently available GPS navigation signal and the GALILEO navigation signal to be developed in Europe in the near future. The wide band satellite navigation receiver with high precision performance is composed of L - band antenna, RF/IF converters for multi - band navigation signals, and high performance baseband processor. The L - band satellite navigation antenna is able to be received the signals in the range from 1.1 GHz to 1.6 GHz and from the navigation satellite positioned near the horizon. The navigation signal of GALILEO navigation satellite consists of L1, E5, and E6 band with signal bandwidth more than 20 MHz which is wider than GPS signal. Due to the wide band navigation signal, the IF frequency and signal processing speed should be increased. The RF/IF converter has been designed with the single stage downconversion structure, and the IF frequency of 140 MHz has been derived from considering the maximum signal bandwidth and the sampling frequency of 112 MHz to be used in ADC circuit. The final output of RF/IF converter is a digital IF signal which is generated from signal processing of the AD converter from the IF signal. The developed RF front - end has the C/N0 performance over 40dB - Hz for the - 130dBm input signal power and includes the automatic gain control circuits to provide the dynamic range over 40dB.

In this paper, we measured and analyzed cross polarization discrimination(XPD), signal correlation coefficient($\rho$) and received signal level decrease, for the application of polarization diversity scheme in the up-link of microcell environments. We experimented in a dense building area, a dense residence area, a market area, a school area and etc at 1.9 GHz. Cross polarization discrimination (XPD) is about 6~11 dB, signal correlation coefficient($\rho$) is below 0.7 and received signal level decrease is smaller than 3 dB. The results of comparing polarization diversity with space diversity show that polarization diversity gain is about 2~5 dB higher in the various area. As a results, polarization diversity scheme is more effective than space diversity scheme in microcell environments.

In this paper, a 1.485 Gbps video signal transmission system using the carrier frequency of 240 GHz band was designed and simulated. The sub-harmonic mixer based on Schottky barrier diode was simulated in the transmitter and receiver. Both of heterodyne and direct detection receivers were simulated for each performance analysis. The ASK modulation was used in the transmitter and the envelop detection method was used in the receiver. The transmitter simulation results showed that the RF output power was -11.4 dBm($73{\mu}W$), when the IF input power was -3 dBm(0.5 mW) at the LO power of 7 dBm(5 mW) in sub-harmonic mixer, which corresponds to SSB(Single Side Band) conversion loss of 8.4 dB. This value is similar to the conversion loss of 8.0 dB(SSB) of VDI's commercial model WR3.4SHM(220~325 GHz) at 240 GHz. The combined transmitter and receiver simulation results showed that the recovered signal waveforms were in good agreement to the transmitted 1.485 Gbps NRZ signal.
We perform degenerate and nondegenerate pump-probe experiments on bulk GaAs at 100 K below the band gap. We mostly observe a negative differential transmission signal both in the degenerate and nondegenerate experiments. We interpret our signal as due to two-photon absorption. This negative signal has a different origin from the normally considered band gap renormalization for resonant excitations.
Two lymphoid-specific proteins, RAG1 and RAG2, are required for the initiation of the V(D)J recombination in vitro. The V(D)J cleavage that is mediated by RAG proteins at the border between the coding and signal sequences results in the production of a hairpin at the coding end and a double-stranded break at the signal end. Two hairpin coding ends are re-opened, modified, and sealed; whereas, the signal ends are directly ligated. Here I report that only RAG1 can carry out a distinct endonucleolytic activity in vitro using an oligonucleotide substrate that is tethered by a short single-stranded DNA. The purified RAG1 protein alone formed a nick at the near position to the recombination signal sequence. This endonucleolytic activity was eliminated by immunoprecipitation using the RAG1-specific antibody, and required the 3'-hydroxy group. All of the RAG1 mutants that were incapable of the nick and hairpin formation in the V(D)J cleavage analysis also showed this new endonucleolytic activity. This suggests that the nicking activity that was observed might be functionally different from the nick formation in the V(D)J cleavage.

This paper represents an attempt to bring together and analyses the measurement data measured by the Satellite Signal Monitoring Center in Korea and the Korea Meteorological Administration/Korea Meteorological Research Institute in close cooperation with this study team. This paper presents the signal characteristic of GEO satellite operating in frequency range 1 to 20GHz associated with Asian Sand Dust (the so-called Yellow Sand Dust). The downlink signal power (dBm) for L-, S-, C-, Ku-, and Ka-band frequencies from GEO satellites were measured in a clear weather and in Asian Sand Dust weather by the Satellite Signal Monitoring Center. The measured signal power(dBm) were compared to the total number concentration and size distribution of Sand Dust that were measured by the Korea Meteorological Administration/Korea Meteorological Research Institute and the possible correlation between these sets data were analyzed. The results demonstrate that the downlink signal level (dBm) of GEO satellite is attenuated by Asian Sand Dust. Hitherto, merger information has been reported as to the influence of sand dust on satellite communications operating in regions affected by sand dust.
