  • Twenty patients with biopsy-proven Waldeyer's ring lymphoma were treated with radiotherpy between 1984 and 1990 at the Department of Radiation Therapy, Inje University Paik Hospital and seventeen evaluable patients were analysed retrospectively. Dose of radiation ranged from 35 to 50 Gy to Waldeyer's ring structure with an additional 5 and 10 Gy boost dose to the primary site. The lower cervical nodes received 35 to 60 Gy. The median follow-up period was 24 months (range;9 to 80 months). The 5-year overall survival rate was $50.2{\%}$ and 5-year disease free survival rate was $47.1{\%}$. The final local control rate was $82.4{\%}$. The relapse developed average 10 months after treatment. Most of relapses were systemic ($87.5{\%}$). The patients with stage I disease fared better than advance stage. The favorable histology of lymphoma showed better prognosis than unfavorable histology. There was no significant difference in survival rate between radiotherapy alone and combination of chemotherapy and radiotherapy in early stage lymphomas. But of the patients with advanced stage, those who received chemotherapy and radiotherapy had better prognosis than those treated with radiotherapy alone.

  • Fur is conceived as a material signifier, not only with its commodity value as luxury goods but also as its symbolic value as objects invested by one's libidinal desire. In this study, complex meanings of fur as multi-layered signs of political and sexual power focusing on fetishism shall be explored, especially on the spectacle fetishism acted by mass media during the anti-fur movement in the 1980s. In conjuction herewith, a highlight shall also be made to the symbolic value in fashion design since 1990s. In this study, first, as a theoretical investigation, fetishism, that has been traditionally considered only as sexual fetishism in fashion discourse will be explored in socio-economic level. Second, in historical context, how the meanings and values of fur have become realized in various cultural spaces, such as literature, art, film and finally, fashion will be viewed. In fashion, fur is a product of desire and power influenced by commodity fetishism as well as sexual fetishism. During the anti-fur movement, mass media has developed the concept of spectacle fetishism. Fur is a sign of animal-victim, and fur-clad women is viewed with images full of imperialsm, sexism and racism, thus act as derisive spectacles of consumerism. Since 1990s as a reflection on anti-fur movement, fetishistic characteristics, which challenge traditional operation method, are expressed by disguise, parody, and returning to the nature. First, fur as disguise is intended to hide sexually perverse, decadent characteristics and expensiveness of fur by texturing or patterning techniques. Second, fur as parody uses fake fur or dyed fur in order to satirize erotically and ethnographically fetishized meanings of fur. Third, aboriginal design of fur is adapted to use symbolic values outside the West, which can potentially mobilize antagonistic oppositions out of their fetishistic regimes. In conclusion, fur as sign of female sexuality and its libidinal profits of exchange, has significant symbolic values expressed in fashion.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the research trends in children's daily stress from 1990 to 2009. A total of 97 articles were selected from 30 Korean journals in the field of child development, early childhood education, psychology and so on. We analyzed the trends of research focusing specifically on the participants, themes, and methodology by 5 years, and discussed the features of major stress scales. The results were as follows. Firstly, research on children's stress started in the first half of the 1990s and drastically increased in the latter half of that decade. In the following decade, more various journals dealt with articles on children's stress, and more studies were conducted on the intervention of stress. Secondly, many studies investigated the developmental change in stress, rather than focusing on the same age group. The younger preschoolers participated in studies as years go by, indicating that the age of suffering from stress was downward. Thirdly, most research used stress as a dependent variable to examine the factors affecting stress. Fourthly, questionnaires, observation and interview were used as methods to measure children's stress, while qualitative research was rarely conducted. Lastly, scales to measure children's stress should be revised and developed, especially for succeeding research in the area of early childhood.
