양성자 주입 기술을 이용한 초고속 회복 다이오드의 제작 (Fabrication of Ultra Fast Recovery Diodes using Proton Irradiation Technique)

  • Proton irradiation technology was used for the improvement of power diode switching characteristics. Proton irradiation was carried out at the energies of 2.32 MeV, 2.55 MeV, 2.97 MeV so that the projection range of irradiated proton would be at the metallurgical junction, depletion region and neutral region of pn diode, respectively. Dose conditions were varied into three conditions of 1${\times}$10$^{11}$ cm$^{-2}$ , 1${\times}$10$^{12}$ cm$^{-2}$ , 1${\times}$10$^{13}$ cm$^{-2}$ at each condition of energies. Characterization of the device was performed by I-V(current-voltage), C-V(capacitance-voltage) and trr(reverse recovery time) measurement. At the optimum condition of irradiation, the reverse recovery time of device has been reduced about 1/5 compared to that of original un-irradiated device.

양성자 유발 감마선 발생법에 의한 경원소 분석 (Analysis of Light Elements by PIGE)

  • PIGE(양성자유발 감마선발생) 분석법을 이용하여 Li~K에 이르는 경원소의 분석을 시도하였다. 각 원소별로 표준시료를 제작하여 사용하는 방법으로 지질 및 생체, 환경, 소재 등 다양한 시료를 시험분석하였다. 양성자 에너지 2.4 MeV와 3.4 MeV에 대하여 측정하였으며 일반적으로 다중원소 검출시 3.4 MeV가 유리한 것으로 나타났다. 분석결과는 표준치와 최대 15%내로 일치하였다. 검출한계는 Li, B, F, Na의 경우 100 ppm 이내, 기타 원소들은 수백 ppm ~ 수%로 계산되었다.

두릅수피에서 항미생물 활성을 갖는 3,4-Dihydroxycinnamic Acid의 분리 (Isolation of 3,4-Dihydroxycinnamic Acid with Antimicrobial Activity from Bark of Aralia elata)

  • 두릅나무(Aralia elata $S_{EEMANN}$) 껍질의 MeOH추출물이 세균과 호모, 곰팡이 등에 대한 항미생물 활성을 보여 solvent fractionation, Silica gel adsorption chromatography, Sephadex LH-20 column chromatography, silica gel partition chromatography, HPLC 등의 기법으로 활성물질을 순차 정제하여 얻어진 활성물질을 1% acetic acid-MeOH (60 : 40, v/v)용매계의 HPLC에 의해 분리하였다. 분리된 성분($t_r$ 17.1 min)의 활성본체를 구명하기 위하여 $MS,\;^1H-NMR\;and\;^13C-NMR$. 등을 이용하여 기기분석한 결과, trans-3,4-dihydroxycinnamic acid로 동정되었다. 3,4-dihydroxycinnamic acid가 두릅에서 항미생물 활성물질로서 분리, 동정된 것은 처음으로 생각된다.

양성자 에너지 변화에 따른 핵반응 생성핵종 분석 (Analysis of Proton Nuclear Reaction-Generated Nuclides for Different Proton Energy)

  • 본 연구에서 서로 다른 양성자 에너지를 사용하여 핵반응에 의해 생성된 감마선의 차이를 통해 고에너지 양성자 Pb(p, nx) 핵반응에서 생성된 동위원소를 식별하는 방법을 제안했다. 한국원자력연구원의 100-M eV 양성자 선형 가속기에서 생성된 고 에너지 양성자를 이용하여 실험을 수행 하였다. 양성자 핵반응을 통해 생성된 다양한 핵종에 의해 생성된 감마선은 HPGe 검출기로 구성된 감마선 분광법 시스템을 사용하여 측정되었습니다. 감마선 표준선원은 감마선 검출기의 정확한 에너지교정 및 효율측정을 위해 사용되었습니다. 제안한 방법을 위하여 동일한 천연 납 시료에 서로 다른 100 및 60 MeV 양성자 에너지빔을 사용하였다. 이 방법은 동일한 시료에서 발생되는 감마선들을 서로 비교함으로써 생성된 핵종들을 확인하는데 매우 효과적임을 알 수 있었다. 이 연구의 결과는 향후 다른 양성자 핵반응 결과를 얻는데도 매우 효과적으로 적용될 것이라 생각된다.

Restriction of Metabolizable Energy in Broiler Growers and Its Impact on Grower and Breeder Performance

  • Metabolizable energy (ME) required for basal metabolism, activity and growth was considered as the criterion for targeting specific increases in body weight (100 g/week) of broiler chicks during the grower phase (5-20 weeks) and its impact was evaluated on breeder performance. Broiler female chicks (460) from a synthetic dam line were randomly distributed to 4 test groups with 23 replicates of 5 birds each and housed in cages. The first group (ME-100) was offered a calculated amount of ME by providing a measured quantity of grower diet (160 g protein and 2,600 kcal ME/kg) which increased with age and weight gain (133-294 kcal/bird/day). The other three groups were offered 10 or 20% less ME (ME-90 and ME-80, respectively) and 10% excess ME (ME-110) over the control group (ME-100). From 21 weeks of age, a single breeder diet (170 g protein and 2,600 kcal ME/kg) was uniformly fed to all groups and the impact of grower ME restriction on breeder performance evaluated up to 58 weeks. The targeted body weight gain of 1,600 g in a 16-week period was achieved by pullets of the ME-100 group almost one week earlier by gaining 8.7 g more weight per week. However, pullets in the ME-90 group gained 1,571 g during the same period, which was closer to the targeted weight. At 20 weeks of age, the conversion efficiency of feed (5.21-5.37), ME (13.9-14.1 kcal/g weight gain) and protein (0.847-0.871 g/g weight gain), eviscerated meat yield, giblet and tibia weights were not influenced by ME restriction, but the weights of abdominal fat and liver were higher with increased ME intake. Reduction of ME by 10% in the grower period significantly delayed sexual maturity (169.3 d), but increased egg production (152.5 /bird) with better persistency. Improved conversion efficiency of feed, ME and protein per g egg content were also observed in this group up to 56 weeks. The fertility and hatchability at 58 weeks of age were higher in the ME-90 group compared to the control and 10% excess ME feeding. In conclusion, the present study revealed the possibility of achieving targeted weight gain in broiler growers by feeding measured quantities of ME during the rearing period with consequential benefits in breeder performance.

양성자 주입 조건에 따른 Si 다이오드의 전기적 특성 (Electrical characteristics of Si diode with proton irradiation conditions)

  • 양성자 주입 기술을 pn 다이오드의 동작 속도를 향상시키기 위한 방법 이용하였다. 양성자 주입은 에너지를 2.32 MeV, 2.55 MeV, 2.97 MeV로 변화시키며 수행하여, projection 범위를 각각 접합, 공핍, 중성영역에 위치하도록 하였다. 또한 각각의 에너지 조건에서 도즈를 $1{\times}10^{11}\;cm^{-2}\;1{\times}10^{12}\;cm^{-2},\;1{\times}10^{13}\;cm^{-2}$의 세가지 조건으로 변화시켰다. 양성자 주입 조건 변화에 따른 소자 동작특성의 변화를 관찰하기 위하여 소자의 전류-전압 특성, 용량-전압 특성, 역방향 회복시간 측정을 수행하였다. 분석결과 양성자를 주입하지 않은 소자에 비해 특성의 큰 열화없이 역방향 회복시간을 약 1/5 수준으로 단축시킬 수 있는 것으로 나타났다.

Effects of Structural Difference of Ionic Liquids on the Catalysis of Horseradish Peroxidase

  • The dependence of the catalytic properties of horseradish peroxidase on the structural changes of ionic liquids was investigated with two water-miscible ionic liquids, N-butyl-3methypyridinium tetraftuoroborate ([$BMP_y$][$BF_4$]) and 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium methylsulfate ([BMIM][$MeSO_4$]), each of which shares an anion ($BF_4^-$) or a cation ($BMIM^+$) with 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium tetraftuoroborate ([BMIM][$BF_4$]), respectively. The oxidation of guaiacol (2-methoxyphenol) with $H_2O_2$was used as a model reaction. In order to minimize the effect of solution viscosity on the kinetic constants of the enzymatic catalysis, the enzymatic reactions for the kinetic study were performed in water-ionic liquid mixtures containing 25% (v/v) ionic liquid at maximum. Similarly to the previously reported results for [BMIM][$BF_4$], as the concentration of [$BMP_y$][$BF_4$] increased, the $K_m$value increased with a decrease in the $k_{cat}$value: the $K_m$value increased markedly from 2.8 mM in 100% water to 12.6 mM in 25% (v/v) ionic liquid, indicating that ionic liquid significantly weakens the binding affinity of guaiacol to the enzyme. On the contrary, [BMIM][$MeSO_4$] decreased the Km value to 1.4 mM in 25% (v/v) ionic liquid. [BMIM][$MeSO_4$] also decreased $k_{cat}$more than 3-folds [from 13.8 $s^{-1}$in 100% water to 4.1 $s^{-1}$in 25% (v/v) ionic liquid]. These results indicate that the ionic liquids interact with the enzyme at the molecular level as well as at a macroscopic thermodynamic scale. Specifically, the anionic component of the ionic liquids influenced the catalysis of horseradish peroxidase in different ways.

Electrical Properties of Metal-Oxide Quantum dot Hybrid Resistance Memory after 0.2-MeV-electron Beam Irradiation

  • The resistance switching memory devices have several advantages to take breakthrough for the limitation of operation speed, retention, and device scale. Especially, the metal-oxide materials such as ZnO are able to fabricate on the flexible and visible transparent plastic substrate. Also, the quantum dots (QDs) embedded in dielectric layer could be improve the ratio between the low and the high resistance becauseof their Coulomb blockade, carrier trap and induced filament path formation. In this study, we irradiated 0.2-MeV-electron beam on the ZnO/QDs/ZnO structure to control the defect and oxygen vacancy of ZnO layer. The metal-oxide QDs embedded in ZnO layer on Pt/glass substrate were fabricated for a memory device and evaluated electrical properties after 0.2-MeV-electron beam irradiations. To formation bottom electrode, the Pt layer (200 nm) was deposited on the glass substrate by direct current sputter. The ZnO layer (100 nm) was deposited by ultra-high vacuum radio frequency sputter at base pressure $1{\times}10^{-10}$ Torr. And then, the metal-oxide QDs on the ZnO layer were created by thermal annealing. Finally, the ZnO layer (100 nm) also was deposited by ultra-high vacuum sputter. Before the formation top electrode, 0.2 MeV liner accelerated electron beams with flux of $1{\times}10^{13}$ and $10^{14}$ electrons/$cm^2$ were irradiated. We will discuss the electrical properties and the physical relationships among the irradiation condition, the dislocation density and mechanism of resistive switching in the hybrid memory device.

Determination of Initial Beam Parameters of Varian 2100 CD Linac for Various Therapeutic Electrons Using PRIMO

  • The aim of the present research was to establish primary characteristics of electron beams for a Varian 2100C/D linear accelerator with recently developed PRIMO Monte Carlo software and to verify relations between electron energy and dose distribution. To maintain conformity of simulated and measured dose curves within 1%/1mm, mean energy, Full Width at Half Maximum (FWHM) of energy and focal spot FWHM of initial beam were changed iteratively. Mean and most probable energies were extracted from validated phase spaces and compared with related empirical equation results. To explain the importance of correct estimation of primary energy on a clinical case, computed tomography images of a thorax phantom were imported in PRIMO. Dose distributions and dose volume histogram (DVH) curves were compared between validated and artificial cases with overestimated energy. Initial mean energies were obtained of 6.68, 9.73, 13.2 and 16.4 MeV for 6, 9, 12 and 15 nominal energies, respectively. Energy FWHM reduced with increase in energy. Three mm focal spot FWHM for 9 MeV and 4 mm for other energies made proper matches of simulated and measured profiles. In addition, the maximum difference of calculated mean electrons energy at the phantom surface with empirical equation was 2.2 percent. Finally, clear differences in DVH curves of validated and artificial energy were observed as heterogeneity indexes were 0.15 for 7.21 MeV and 0.25 for 6.68 MeV. The Monte Carlo model presented in PRIMO for Varian 2100 CD was precisely validated. IAEA polynomial equations estimated mean energy more accurately than a known linear one. Small displacement of R50 changed DVH curves and homogeneity indexes. PRIMO is a user-friendly software which has suitable capabilities to calculate dose distribution in water phantoms or computerized tomographic volumes accurately.
