Generally the piezo-composites have superior hydrostatic response characteristics than PZT ceramics due to both the stress amplification effect in axial direction and stress reduction effects in radial direction. This paper described material properties of a 1-3 type piezo-composite that fabricated with ceramic injection molding (CIM) technology. The electro-mechanical performances of the composite have been analyzed using FEM and the physical properties of the composite have been measured with the vol% of the PZT ceramics. Based on the results, the $k_t$ increased rapidly as the vol% of the PZT ceramics increased up to 30 vol% and saturated the constant value in the above region. Also the experimental results have good agreement with the simulation values of the composite. Finally we developed the composites having high piezoelectric properties than the PZT ceramics with the CIM technology.
In this study, an ultrasonic transducer is fabricated with a 1-3 type composite resonator. Pulse-echo responses of an ultrasonic transducer are investigated in underwater with the designated water-levels. LED output signals of a level limit switch with changing a water level are obtained by using the currently developed self-made 1-3 type composite transducer and electric measuring unit. LED is turned on at above the up-limit level with increasing a water level, and LED is turned on at less than the down-limit level with decreasing a water level.

This study was performed to evaluate the effect of resin and filler type on the compressive strength of light-activated composite resins. Experimental composite resins containing either amorphous spherical silica or crushed quartz in two matrix resins of BisGMA/TEGDMA and UTMA/TEGDMA were prepared and the specimens of 3 m in diameter and 6m in length were made. Compressive test was subjected to a crosshead speed of 0.5 mm/min, and the fracture surFaces were examined by SEM. The compressive strength of UTMA-based composite resin was higher than that of BisGMA-based composite resin. The loading rate of spherical silica was higher than that of crushed silica when the size dis- tribution of fillers was same. Strength decrease of Bis-GMA-based composite resin was severer than that of UTMA-based composite resin in a $37^{\circ}$c water environment. Fracture surface showed that the composite resin failure developed along the matrix resin and the filler/resin interface region.
This paper describes the characteristics of the complex isotropic ferrite-rubber composite for a super wideband electromagnetic absorber in RP-A-PF type, which can be used for an anechoic chamber, wall material to prevent TV ghost, etc. The $Ni_x-A_{0.1}-ZN_{(1-x0.1)}$. $Fe{_2}O_4$ ferrite powder has been fabricated. Using this, then, [$Ni_x-A_{0.1}-ZN_{(1-x0.1)}$. $Fe{_2}O_4$]-Rubber composite for RF-layer in the RF-A-PF type absorber has been fabricated and it's characteristics has been analyzed. As a result, it has been shown that the [$Ni_x-A_{0.1}-ZN_{(1-x0.1)}$. $Fe{_2}O_4$].Rubber composite has excellent electromagnetic wave absorbing properties.
Tin oxides have been studied for various applications such as gas detecting materials, transparent electrodes, transparent devices, and solar cells. p-type SnO is a promising transparent oxide semiconductor because of its high optical transparency and excellent electrical properties. In this study, we fabricated p-type SnO thin film using rf magnetron sputtering with an SnO/Sn composite target; we examined the effects of various oxygen flow rates on the SnO thin films. We fundamentally investigated the structural, optical, and electrical properties of the p-type SnO thin films utilizing X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), UV/Vis spectrometry, and Hall Effect measurement. A p-type SnO thin film of $P_{O2}=3%$ was obtained with > 80% transmittance, carrier concentration of $1.12{\times}10^{18}cm^{-3}$, and mobility of $1.18cm^2V^{-1}s^{-1}$. With increasing of the oxygen partial pressure, electrical conductivity transition from p-type to n-type was observed in the SnO crystal structure.
The purpose of this study was to measure the polymerization contraction stress of two types of composite resins; chemical cured type(Cliarfil F II, Kuraray, Japan) and photo-cured type(Photo-Clearfil Bright, Kuraray, Japan). The stresses of composite resin by contraction measured with specially designed measuring device(Fig. 1). The stresses caused by shrinkage during hardening of specimens were measured according to the type of composite resins, thickness of specimen(0.65, 1.30 and 1.95mm), and ratio of catalyst to base in case of only chemical cured composite resin(0.5, 1.0 and 1.5). As the composite resin specimen shrank on hardening, the load cell recorded force vs time automatically on pen-recorder(Toa, Japan) with a cross-head speed 60mm/hr at 0~10 voltages up to 2 hours. The experiments were conducted in a room maintained at $23{\pm}2^{\circ}C$ and relative humidity $50{\pm}10%$. The results were as follows. 1. The contraction stress during hardening was higher in photo cured composite resin than in chemical cured composite resin. 2. The contraction stress during hardening was increased with thickness of composite resin specimen. 3. In chemical cured composite resin, the polymerization contraction stress was decreased with ratio of catalyst and base. 4. The contraction stress during polymerization was higher in early time after insertion of photo cured composite resin and chemical cured composite resin.
Dispersed type Al2O3-SiC composite powders were synthesized from Al-isopropoxide (Al(i-OC3H7)3) and Si(OC2H5)4 precursors by hydrolysis of mixed alkoxides and carbothermal reaction method. The characteristics of the synthesized (dispersed type) Al2O3-SiC composite powders were investigated using XRD, SEM, TEM, BET and particle size analyzer. Carbothermal reaction to produce Al2O3-SiC composite was completed in 10h at 135$0^{\circ}C$ on 3~4㎤/s (0.21~0.28cm/s) of H2 flow rate and about 1/1 of carbon/oxides(=SiO2+Al2O3) molar ratio. The synthesized powders were observed to have the mean particle size range of 0.4~1.26${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ and showed finer particle size with increasing SiC content.
