  • In this numerical study, characteristics of swirl generation by the fan and selection of the location of the fan was studied theoretically by the modified TEACH code. The governing equations for the system are solved by means of the k dimensional version of the SIMPLE method and STAGGERED grid. From the present results, the optimal position of the fm is 0.625(h/H).

  • This paper proposes a simple architecture of digital dividing block in dual-modulus prescaler phase-locked loop used in the wireless communication. Proposed architecture eliminates a swallow counter in the conventional one and demonstrates the advantages in reducing the power consumption and the gate-counts. Therefore, it is suitable for small die area and low power applications. The circuit is designed in a standard 0.35${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ CMOS process.

Validation of a Simple HPLC Method for Determination of Nicardipine in Human Plasma and Its Application to Single-dose Pharmacokinetics (인체 혈장 중 니카르디핀의 정량을 위한 HPLC 분석법 검증 및 단일 용량 투여에 의한 약물동태 연구)

  • A simple HPLC method with ultraviolet detection of nicardipine in human plasma was developed and validated. After drug extraction with solid phase extraction (SPE) method, chromatographic separation of nicardipine in plasma was achieved at $30^{\circ}C$ with a $C_{18}$ column and acetonitrile-0.02% phosphate buffer mixture (with 0.02% triethylamine, final pH 7.0), as mobile phase. Quantitative determination was performed by ultraviolet detection at 254 nm. The method was specific and validated with a limit of quantification of 5 ng/mL. The intra- and inter-day precision and accuracy were acceptable for all quality control samples including the lower limit of quantification. The applicability of the method was demonstrated by analysis of plasma after oral administration of a single 40 mg dose to 8 healthy subjects. From the plasma nicardipine concentration versus time curves, the mean $AUC_{t}$, was $134.04{\pm}59.72\;ng\;hr/mL$ and $C_{max}$ of $108.65{\pm}69.17\;ng/mL$ reached 1.5 hr after administration. The mean biological half-life of nicardipine was $3.93{\pm}0.82\;hr$. Based on the results, this simple and validated assay method could readily be used in any pharmacokinetic or bioequivalence studies using human.

  • The thermistor mount is used for precise RF power measurement because the calibration factor is constant according to the change of power. The calibration factor of the standard mount can be measured with an uncertainty less than 0.5 % from the 10 MHz to 1 GHz by direct comparison with the transfer standard using the DC substitution method. Recently, as the supply of precision power meter based on DC substitution method allows simple and fast measurement, a simple direct comparison measurement system with the same level uncertainty was designed and the minimum required specifications of components through analysis of mismatch error was proposed. The uncertainty was evaluated for system validation, and the results show that uncertainties have been well maintained within 0.5 % in the measurement frequencies.

  • Twenty Inter simple sequence repeat (ISSR) primers were used to assess genetic diversity of 64 Agaricus strains including 45 A. bisporus strains and other 19 Agaricus spp. ISSR primers, (GA)T, (AG)YC, (GA)C and (CTC) amplified PCR polymorphic bands between the Agaricus species or within A. bisporus strains. PCR polymorphic bands were inputted for UPGMA cluster analysis. The varieties, Saea, Saedo, Saejeong and Saeyeon that have recently been developed in Korea were involved in the same group with closely genetic relationship of coefficient similarity over 0.92, whereas, other Korean strains were genetically related to A. bisporus strains that were introduced from USA, Eroupe and Chinese. Furthermore, ISSR-PCR polymorphism could potentially be used to identify homokaryon isolates.

  • In this paper, we propose the operation procedures of the 1-channel monopulse receiver which achieves the new configuration. Also, we analyzed the monopulse ratio and the target angle accuracy of the fabricated receiver by using the monopulse signal generator developed for verifying the proposal equipment. As a result, it is apparent that the monopulse ratio of the proposal receiver is equal to that of the 3-channel monopulse receiver. Also, the fabricated receiver exhibits the target angle accuracy with fewer than 0.1 RMS. The proposal receiver achieves the simple receiver configuration and the simple tracking procedures, as contrasted with the 3-channel monopulse receiver. Also, the proposal receiver has advantages in terms of size, weight, cost and power. Because the proposal monopulse receiver requires 1-channel receiver and needs not the signal processor in comparison with 3-channel monopulse receiver which requires 3-channel receiver and need the signal processor.

A Simple and Efficient Method to Determine Rivaroxaban in Rat Plasma Using Liquid-Liquid Extraction and LC-MRM

  • Rivaroxaban (RRN) is the first available active direct factor Xa inhibitor (anticoagulant) with oral administration. Due to its success in market, there have been efforts to develop various RRN formulations, and the development of good analytical methods for its in vivo evaluation is an essential prerequisite. Thus, here, a simple and efficient method to determine RRN in rat plasma using liquid-liquid extraction (LLE) and liquid chromatography and multiple reaction monitoring (LC-MRM) was presented. The use of ethyl acetate as the LLE solvent results appropriate extraction and purification of RRN and it also helps the significant reduction of rat plasma volume required for RRN quantitation. The developed method showed good analytical performance including specificity, linearity ($r^2{\geq}0.999$ within 0.5 - 500 ng/mL), sensitivity (the lower limit of quantitation at 0.5 ng/mL), accuracy (89.3 - 107.0%), precision (${\geq}12.7%$), and recovery (89.2 - 105.7%). Additionally, RRN in sample extracts showed good stability. Finally, the applicability of the validated method to the PK evaluation of RRN was confirmed after its oral administration to normal rats. The present method is the first analytical method employing LLE for the simple and efficient extraction and purification of RRN in rat plasma. Therefore, the present method can contribute to the development of new RRN formulations as well as to the monitoring of RRN in special clinical situations through its efficient determination in various samples with or without minor modification.

Simple Postoperative Exercise of Acute Achilles Tendon Rupture without Active Range of Motion Exercise (아킬레스건 파열 이후의 능동적인 관절 범위 운동이 없는 간단한 재활 운동 방법)

  • Purpose: Postoperative exercise for acute Achilles tendon rupture is important for a patient's return to daily life and sports. On the other hand, the protocol requires considerable effort to educate patients and continuous checking. This study evaluated the outcome of a new simple and delayed rehabilitation protocol after Achilles tendon rupture repair. Materials and Methods: From July 2014 to November 2020, one hundred eighty-three patients were operated on by one surgeon. The exercise protocol was classified into two methods. One group (immediate protocol, control group) started immediate full weight bearing with a 20° plantar flexion range of motion from two days postoperatively. Ankle dorsiflexion was restricted to 0°. The other group (delayed protocol, case group) started full weight bearing with a controlled ankle motion boot from two weeks postoperatively. No range of motion exercise was allowed until six weeks postoperatively. Age, sex, body mass index, ankle range of motion, muscle power, time to return to previous physical activity, functional score, and complication rate were evaluated. The results of the two groups were compared using a Mann-Whitney test. Statistical significance was set as p<0.05. Results: The range of motion, double heel rising, and one-leg standing were achieved faster in the control group (p<0.05). However, single-heel rising, repeated single-heel rising, return to previous activity (work, run, and sport), and functional scores showed no statistical difference (p>0.05). Conclusion: Simple and delayed postoperative rehabilitation of acute Achilles tendon rupture without active range of motion exercises showed satisfactory functional results and a low complication rate.
