In this paper, when a gain grating and a refractive index grating exist simultaneously in a DFB laser diode having a wavelength of 1.55 ㎛, an anti-reflection coating is applied to the right mirror surface so that ρr=0. In case of δL<0, the characteristics of the oscillation frequency and oscillation gain have been analyzed. Whenever the phase of the grating on the left side of the mirror continuously decreases by π/2, the δL value of each oscillation mode decreases by about 0.6 to the left of the graph lines of each oscillation mode. The case of the oscillation mode having the lowest threshold gain is the case of κL=10, and in this case, the mode selectivity is relatively low compared to the case of other values of κL. From κL=0.1 to κL=6, the mode selectivity and the frequency stability are excellent. As the mode selectivity is excellent, the frequency stability is excellent. Compared to the case with two cleaved mirrors, the DFB laser diode with anti-reflection coating increases the threshold gain of the oscillation mode by about 2 times, but the mode selectivity becomes about 2 times better.

최근 많은 광대역 유무선 통신 응용분야에서 OFDM(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) 방식을 표준기술로 채택하고 있다 OFDM 방식의 고속 무선 데이터 통신를 위한 FFT 프로세서는 일반적으로 DSP(Digital Signal Processing)로 구현되었으나, 큰 전력 소비를 필요로 한다. OFDM의 단점인 전력문제를 보안하기 위해서 Current-mode FFT LSI가 제안되었다. 본 논문에서는 Current-mode FFT LSI의 구현을 위한 저전력 IVC를 설계하였다. 설계된 IVC는 FFT Block의 출력이 $13.65{\mu}A$ 이상일 때에 3V 이상의 전압을 출력하고, FFT Block의 출력이 $0.15{\mu}A$ 이하일 때에 0.5V 이하의 전압을 출력한다. 그리고 IVC의 총 소모전력은 약 1.65mW이다. $0.35{\mu}A$ 공정에서의 저전력 IVC를 설계함으로서, $0.35{\mu}A$ 공정에서의 Current-mode FFT LSI의 설계가 가능해졌다. 저전력 OFDM 통신용 Current-mode FFT LSI는 무선통신의 발전에 기여할 것으로 전망한다.

Choromatic dispersion of single mode optical fibers limits the maximum bit rate in the single mode optical transmission systems. In this paper we calculate chromatic dispersion and dispersion parametes(zero dispersion wavelength, dispersion slope) for concatenated single mode optical fibers form the chromatic dispersion and dispersion parameters of individual single mode optical fibers, and compare theoretical valuse with those measrued by double demodulation method. Calculated values are coincident with measured ones reasonably. The standard deviation is 0.77-1.28nm for zero dispersion wavelength and 0.56-0.75PS/km.nm2 for dispersion slope. The standard deviation of zero dispersion wavelength is inverse proportional to the optical fiber lenght.

As analysis of the forced dynamic response and vibrational mode for the cantilevered beam is described. Experimental results are compared with the natural frequencies and vibrational modes for the cantilevered beam using the theory of Bernoulli-Euler and finite element method. We have found 1st and 2nd resonance frequency of the cantilevered beam by means of the various external frequencies, $1{\sim}70Hz$, using magnetic transducer. And we have studied the vibrational displacement at obtained resonance frequency of the cantilevered beam. The experimental results for the nodes of cantilevered beam were 0 in 1st mode and 0,0.786 in 2nd mode. close agreement between the theoretically predicted results and experimental result was obtained for the vibrational mode.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the characteristics of fundamental frequency(F0) and amplitude distributions in persons with cerebral palsy(CP) in the reading task. Participants were divided into three groups: 6 persons with spastic CP, 6 persons with athetoid CP and 6 normal persons who are around 15-20 years old. On the results of this study, firstly, in F0 distributions, most of the spastic CPs tended to appear narrow distributions on the basis of mode, but most of the athetoid CPs were opposite, and both of the CP groups tended to distribute highly on lower and higher frequencies than mean and mode. On the other hand, normal persons had a tendency to appear narrow distributions on the basis of mode. Finally, in amplitude distributions, the spastic CPs showed a tendency that there are little differences between the distribution of mode and the others, and most of the athetoid CPs showed a tendency that the distributions of mode were higher than the others. In addition to, the normal persons had a tendency that the distributions of mode were remarkably higher than both of the CP groups.

In this paper, we have designed a mode size converter to reduce coupling loss between super-high delta silica optical waveguides and single mode fibers. The new mode size converter has three design aspects; periodically segmented taper waveguide for minimal size, lateral taper waveguide for simple fabrication, and surrounding trenches to improve coupling loss. In the optimal mode size converter design, coupling loss is 0.33dB/point without trenches and 0.2dB/point with trenches.
Laser induced surface activation (LISA) technology requires refined selection of process variables to fabricate conductive microcircuits on a general polymer material. Among the process variables, laser mode is one of the crucial factors to make a reliable conductor pattern. Here we compare the continuous wave (CW) laser mode with the pulse wave (PW) laser mode through determination of the surface roughness and circuit accuracy. In the CW laser mode, the surface roughness is pronounced during the implementation of the conductive circuit, which results in uneven plating. In the PW laser mode, the surface is relatively smooth and uniform, and the formed conductive circuit layer has few defects with excellent adhesion to the polymer material. As a result of a change of laser mode from CW to PW, the value of Ra of the polymer material decreases from 0.6 ㎛ to 0.2 ㎛; the value of Ra after the plating process decreases from 0.8 ㎛ to 0.4 ㎛, and a tight bonding force between the polymer source material and the conductive copper plating layer is achieved. In conclusion, this study shows that the PW laser process yields an excellent conductive circuit on a polymeric material.
An input and output buffering ATM switch conventionally operates in either Queueloss mode or Backpressure mode. Recently, a new mode, which is called Hybrid mode, was proposed to overcome the drawbacks of Queueloss mode and Backpressure mode. In Hybrid mode, when both the destined output buffer and the originfted input buffer are full, a cell is dropped. This thesis analyzes the cell loss rate and the cell delay of Queueloss, Backpressure and Hybrid modes in a switch adopting output-port expansion scheme under uniform traffic. Output-port expansion scheme allows only one cell from an input buffer to be switched during one time slot. If several cells switch to a same destined output port, the number of maximum transfer cells is restricted to K (Output-port expansion ratio). The simulation results show that if an offered load is less than 0.9, Hybrid mode has lower cell loss rate than the other modes; otherwise, Queueloss mode illustrates the lowest cell loss rate, which is a different result from previous researches. However, the difference between Hybrid and Queueloss modes is comparably small. As expected, the average cell delay in Backpressure mode is lower than those of Queueloss mode and Hybrid mode, since the cell delay due to the retransmission of higher number of dropped cells in Backpressure mode is not considered.

In this paper, a direct down conversion LNA/Mixer has been designed and tested for 900Mhz UHF RFID application. The designed circuit has been implemented in 0.18um CMOS technology with 3.3V operation. In this work, a common gate input architecture has been used to cope with the higher input self jamming level. This LNA/Mixer is designed to support two operating modes of high gain mode and low gain mode according to the input jamming levels. The measured results show that the input referred P1dBs are 4dBm of high gain mode and 11dBm of low gain mode, and the conversion gains are 12dB and 3dB in high and low gain mode respectively The power consumptions are 60mW for high gain mode and 79mW for low gain mode. The noise figures are 16dB and 20dB in high gain mode and low gain mode respectively.
Intra prediction in HEVC is also significantly improved from H.264/AVC with the increased prediction modes up to 35 that results in increase of the complexity cost. Hence, a fast intra mode decision algorithm is required for real-time applications. A fast intra mode decision is proposed in this paper for further complexity reduction in addition to the RMD (Rough Mode Decision) that has been adopted into the HEVC reference software, referred to as HM, for fast intra prediction. The proposed method reduces the complexity of intra mode decision by limiting the number of search modes in both steps of RMD and the final mode decision. Experimental results show that the proposed method provide about 13.2% encoding time reduction with 1.0% BD-rate increase on average over test sequences in HM 12.0.
