  • A clubfoot is a kind of congenital deformity of foot, which is internally rotated at the ankle. In this paper, we are going to cluster the curves of relative differences between regular and operated feet. Since these curves are irregular and sparsely sampled, general clustering models could not be applied. So the clustering model for sparsely sampled functional data by James and Sugar (2003) are applied and parameters are estimated using EM algorithm. The number of clusters is determined by the distortion function (Sugar and James, 2003) and two clusters of the curves are found.

  • This paper describes an analysis on the relationship between elemental image size and object locations in the computational integral imaging reconstruction and in the pickup using a periodically-distributed lenslet array. A sparse sampling effect arises from a periodically-distributed lenslet array in the pickup of 3D objects. The relationship between elemental image size and object location is also reported. Based on the analysis, a method to eliminate the sparse sampling is proposed. To show the effectiveness of the proposed method, experimental results are carried out. It turns out that the theory works.

  • Starting from the Eu's GH(Generalized Hydrodynamic) theory, the multi-species GH numerical solver is developed in this research and its computatyional behaviors are examined for the hypersonic rarefied flow over an axisymmetric body. To improve the accuracy of the developed multi-species GH solver, various slip-wall boundary conditions are tested and the computed results are compared. Additionally, in order to validate the entropy characteristics of the GH equation, the entropy production and entropy generation rates of the GH equation are investigated in the 1-dimensional normal shock structure test at a high Knudsen number.

  • Several approaches to recommendation systems have been studied. One of the most successful technologies for building personalization and recommendation systems is collaborative filtering, which is a technique that provides a process of filtering customer information based on such information profiles. Collaborative filtering systems, however, have a sparsity if there is not enough data to recommend. In this paper, we suggest a movie recommendation system, based on the weighted personal propensity and the collaborating filtering system, in order to provide a solution to such sparsity. Furthermore, we assess the system's applicability by using the open database MovieLens, and present a weighted personal propensity framework for improvement in the performance of recommender systems. We successfully come up with a movie recommendation system through the optimal personalization factors.
